Avocademy

I had no previous experience in UX/UI Design. The course was awesome and I learned so much. All of my interactions with my teams and the staff were amazing, and there was lots of support throughout the course completion and client project completion. I'm so glad that this bootcamp allowed me to get some real client project experience. It just sucks because I paid 6,000 dollars total for the Foundations course and Career Jumpstart, just for one first interview to come out of it, aside from the education and UX/UI experience I gained. They told me that with the current job market, I would be applying to around 800-1200 jobs, and after 1,300 jobs I just had that one interview and they cut me off of their Slack Channels, which meant I would lose access to mentorship and the ability to do more client projects. Again I only have the experience they gave me, around 2 years of experience, and I know that was part of why it took so many applications to get that one interview, but I can't get any more experience through Avocademy since they cut me off. The time they gave me had passed, but I really wish they would hold on to me just a little longer after paying so much money. This is a job that I really really really want and I would love an experience where Avocademy actually helps me from start to finish. From preparing to apply to jobs to getting the job. At least they gave me the reading and resources for applying to jobs and the education they gave me in the Avocademy modules, but even I lost the 1,300 tracked jobs on Huntr and I can't get mentorship or more experience. Again, I'm grateful for the UX/UI Design experience and education that I gained, but I simply cannot say that it was worth it. 

Not only does Avocademy do a wonderful job in their foundations course to prepare your skills for real world design projects, but the access and support for mentors is one of the most valuable resources I've ever had. They have a variety of mentors available for all areas of your foundational and career development needs. From general reinforcement and positivity, to real world experience, to career guidance in your job hunt, they will guide you for any decisions you have to make. I would not be where I'm at in my professional development without them and this has been undoubtedly one of the best decisions I've ever made!

I graduated with an Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology in 2017. I loved being a CT Technologist but COVID rocked my world and certain perspectives changed and I no longer had the drive I once had. I searched long and hard for the right BootCamp because I'm sure you've seen a million that guarantee this and that but are super expensive. It's a daunting experience trying to find the right BootCamp that isn't just in it for the money. What drew me to Avocademy was that it was the most affordable BootCamp I had seen. I watched videos and read reviews and I immediately scheduled an information call. After the call, I felt like they genuinely cared for my success. It sounds silly but I was taking a chance by taking a big leap into a career that is completely different from the career I was already established in. I needed to know that if I jumped down this long road, I was going to be in good hands. If you're wondering if this is the bootcamp for you then I would absolutely refer anybody to this bootcamp.

The program is broken up into two sections: Foundations and Career Jumpstart (CJ). Foundations is teaching you everything you need to know about UX/UI Design. They reinforce all the learned material while building your own project that you put in your portfolio. Career Jumpstart is taking everything you learned in Foundations and then applying it to real projects with real clients. You're grouped up with other designers from Avocademy and complete deliverables and by the end of it you can add it to your portfolio. While you're in projects you eventually start applying for jobs. My fiance was unfortunately laid off from his job so this was the most challenging part for me. Applying for jobs, working on multiple projects, working full-time hours (and overtime), and moving to the other side of the country was extremely hard- but not impossible.

While I will refer this bootcamp to anyone I will say you will absolutely be putting in the work. Switching careers is never easy but if you put in your hard work into this there will be a big payout. I wouldn't refer anybody to any bootcamp if you only want to do half the work or plan to be lazy. It's unfair to the other designers who are on projects with you. 

While not one bootcamp is perfect it seems like Avocademy listens to feedback and is always implementing feedback and introducing new content to help for a better user experience. At the end of it, I will say the support you get from the mentors and staff at Avocademy is worth the tuition alone. I came out with a resume, portfolio, new friendships, and a new job. They help you build a resume that is very much geared towards UX, they were able to spin my 7 years of healthcare experience to help contribute to my UX experience. In terms of the portfolio, you go through many checks while building it. I've spoken to multiple recruiters and have told me they loved how clean and organized my portfolio was. You'll also get to network with other designers at Avocademy who are also in the same boat as you and I have built some really meaningful connections and you never know when a connection can be helpful in the future.

If you're on the fence I would say choose Avocademy. I was in the same spot reading reviews on Course Report in Oct 2022 and now here I am about to start my job as a UX Designer in 2 weeks!

I enrolled in Avocademy’s UX/UI Foundation course in May 2023 to learn the foundations to become a UX/UI Designer and they gave me that plus more. Everything was clearly organized and laid out for me. I knew what I needed to do, when I needed to complete work by, how long it would take and most importantly how easily and quickly I could receive support from mentors who do the job I wish to have. Without any background in design or UX/UI I was able create work I am proud of and expand on it now that I’ve graduated from that part and moved on to Career Jumpstart. I’m being challenged to improve and supported along the away. It’s only been a month so far in this new program and I’ve watched one of my peers land an amazing job with Pepsi. I am not yet at the stage where I begin my job search with my mentors support & assistance but I know that Avocademy is providing me with all the tools necessary to make this my career and be successful. I have no doubt in my abilities and my future.

I loved the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations course. You really are learning so much in a condensed amount of time so you need to be someone who can manage your time well and enjoys independent learning, I took a bit longer to finish the course because of my lack of good time management skills but they were so helpful to pushing me through to completing my project. With that said, the course material is thorough and consistently updated. The mentors are readily available to give you feedback on your work and it's given in a constructive & positive way. I personally learned so much from the course and there was no question in my mind that I wanted to pursue their Career Jumpstart course after graduating from Foundations. I'm currently in CJ right now and Avocademy has created such an incredible program, they really pay attention to the needs of their students and make great content to continually help their students grow and progress.

Changing careers can be very scary especially when someone like me has been a stay home mother for the last five years. Choosing Avocademy was the best decision I could have made for my future. They gave me the guidance and the confidence to step into this next phase of my career! I am thrilled to have the skills I do under my belt. I had the pleasure to get my UX/UI Design certification through the Avocademy program. My experience was great , I love the details in the content they provide us to ensure we understand how to move forward with any activity. The mentors go above and beyond to make sure you are on track and are able to explore to new methods. I myself found it easier to always ask mentors for help and reassurance that my design is on track. Thanks to the program and mentors I found new ways to design. This program along side fundamentals is a great way to expand your horizons in design.

Avocademy Foundations course has changed my life! As a veteran teacher, I was hesitant to pursue something so outside and beyond my comfort zone. But I took the plunge, and I did it! It took me about three months to finish the foundations course, and I'm currently a member of the Career Jumpstart program where I'm learning advanced skills and getting to work on actual client jobs. What I appreciated the most was the feedback from the Mentors that Avocademy has. I really needed to hear from people who have "been there, done that" and currently work in the UX field. 

I want to kick things off by saying that I had a blast during this course, and the staff was top-notch... at least, until graduation came around. The CJ course rolls out this job guarantee program, promising that if you tick all the job requirements and still don't land a job by your graduation date, you're off the hook for the course fees. Unfortunately, this is where things took a nosedive.
I went through the entire course, checked off all the job prerequisites, but guess what? No job offers came my way, and now the gang is telling me I don't meet the criteria, and I'll have to cough up the $5k upfront. Who has that kind of cash lying around? Seriously, nobody I know.
Here's the kicker: I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I followed every single rule to a tee. I even provided proof, but they're still insisting I'm not eligible. This is a big problem for me, and honestly, it feels like Avocademy is breaking their end of the bargain. It's looking like I might have to take some legal action here.

Sadly, if I'd known they'd basically pull a fast one on me, I would've never signed up for this course. To anyone out there thinking about giving it a shot, my advice is to think twice. Seriously, reconsider, because they'll gladly take your money and leave you feeling swindled.

I recently completed the Career Jumpstart program (I received a great job offer), and I can confidently say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. What truly set this bootcamp apart was the exceptional mentorship!

Throughout the client projects, I had the privilege of working closely with dedicated mentors who guided us every step of the way. 

The highlight of the program, without a doubt, was the unlimited mock interviews with the mentors. These sessions were an incredible opportunity to fine-tune our skills and gain the confidence needed to excel in real-world interviews. The mentors' commitment to our success was evident in their patience and willingness to address every question and concern. They really care about everyone in the program.

I recently completed Avocademy's "Foundations" course, and it was such a transformative experience that I couldn't resist signing up for their "Career Jumpstart" program. Also, if your goal is to secure a job in UX/UI I recommend you do Career Jumpstart as well, as this is where the fundamental transformation happens. Avocademy truly exceeded my expectations.

The "Foundations" course was an incredible starting point. It provided a solid understanding of UX/UI design principles and set the stage for my journey. The instructional videos and resources were instrumental. The mentors at Avocademy played a pivotal role in my learning experience. They serve as instructors and mentors who answer questions and provide valuable feedback until you master it. 

One of the highlights was working on my foundation product (a conceptual app) from start to finish. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply what I had learned and see the direct impact of my skills. It was gratifying, and I'm currently in my second week of a client project as part of the "Career Jumpstart" program. This practical exposure has been invaluable in preparing me for a UX/UI design career.

Overall, Avocademy has been one of the main reasons for my success in my transformation into a UX/UI designer. I say "ONE OF" because many people who see their viral TikTok videos or Instagram reels think they'll magically make you a designer. They give you ALL the resources to do so, but YOU have to make the decision to show up, take feedback, FAIL, do the work, and keep learning. It's not easy, and anything worth having isn't, but it is POSSIBLE. If you're trying to transition, Avocademy is undoubtedly where you want to be.

I'll say the most important thing first – I got a job!! With that being said, Avocademy has been the best decision I have ever made in my educational and professional journey. I have a creative background in fashion design, but once I completed school and began working in that industry, I knew that it was not for me. I found out about this program on TikTok, and after researching other bootcamps, I chose this one. I completed both the foundations and career jumpstart programs. Career Jumpstart gave me the opportunity to work on real-world projects with real clients and design teams. Along with the projects, the actual mentorship and course-related modules are unmatched. The Avocademy team works very hard to stay up-to-date with the latest job market trends, and they are constantly using data to provide us with the best ways to land a job. I had no background in UX/UI design until I started this program, and I followed the course exactly – it worked for me. This is my first time taking a boot camp course online, and I'm so happy I decided to take Avocademy's foundations course.  Upon much research, I realized Avocademy is the most affordable option. However, my favorite thing about the Foundations Bootcamp is that there are so many mentors there to support you and give you great feedback to become a better designer. Not only did I have lots of support from the mentors, but I've had so many people in the program reach out to me to network, and connect with me. Knowing there are many people on the same boat as you sharing their knowledge, and advice helped me push through this course.  It was loaded with so much content, but the Foundations course taught me so many necessary information for people that are entering the UX/UI journey from the beginner stages. My #1 worry was if I was going to be able to keep up with the course content, and timeline because I am a mother of a toddler with a busy daily schedule. However, our awesome creator of Avocademy (MACA) even provides us with a timeline generated for us with our program start date and the deadlines for each activity. I recently completed an exceptional bootcamp that truly exceeded my expectations. The program provided me with unlimited mentorship, top-notch (and fun!) online classes, and the flexibility to pursue it part-time after work or on weekends. The highlight of the bootcamp was undoubtedly the unlimited mentorship. This was an amazing experience all around. Within 6 months I had an impressive portfolio, a vast understanding of UX design and leading projects, amazing friends, great mentorship, and a fantastic job. I tried to do an online bootcamp fro UX design, As somebody living with ADHD, getting into a whole class, keep my interest and even finishing the course is extremely challenging. I tried Coursera, with was great, but I lost interest very quickly. 
With Avocademy my experience was completely different. I still did it online and at my own pace. But it was great to have mentors reviewing my activities and available for a call whenever I need it. Not only I'm happy with the class and proud of myself but also I'm impressed on how the final product for my project looks.

Avocademy is great! I honestly was nervous at first because I've been trying to break into UX for a while now, and never had any clear guidance on how to really get started. Avocademy helped me with that tremendously. They really do well with teaching you what you need to know in order to be successful in UX. They go through each step in the design process and make sure that you have a good grasp on each of those steps before moving onto the next section and while going through each part of the design process, you're actually building your first case study for a portfolio. They also even go through and help you build that portfolio in a professional manner. Being able to have interactions with real design mentors and current designers really helps too. It allows you to really get a better understanding of what you're learning, and allows for you to see design problems being solved from the eyes of a professional whenever you meet with mentors to discuss your projects. Definitely would recommend to anyone!

My UI/UX journey with Avocademy has been wonderful! When I started my journey, I had a full time job and a huge family emergency so the only time I had to work on Avocademy was at odd times at night which I'm honestly grateful for. Avocademy is set up uniquely where all assignments and videos are all online but you can sign up for a 1-on-1 mentor call for any assignments or issues you want to discuss with someone! Avocademy really allows maximum flexibility while also progressing your UI/UX journey without having to break the bank or stopping any responsibility you might need to deal with. I am grateful for my foundation experiences and would definitely recommend it to people who are looking to start their UI/UX journey at their own pace.)  

This course is truly exceptional in its comprehensive nature, extensive research validation, and continuous iteration. It has surpassed all other courses I have taken thus far. One of the standout features was the provision of 1:1 mentor calls with experienced designers who provided invaluable guidance whenever I encountered obstacles. They not only assisted me in overcoming challenges but also reviewed my resume and cover letters, optimizing my approach to job applications. Moreover, the course provided ample opportunities to collaborate with diverse clients, take on leadership roles within design teams, and facilitate my growth as a lead designer.

Joining any type of bootcamp has always given me anxiety just due to the investment of time, money and effort and being unsure about the outcome, which is why most of the time I just don't. This time around I took a chance after doing my research and talking to previous students, and it was the best decision I could have possibly made for my career. I've learned so much in such a short amount of time and I can't wait to put what I've learned to use in the "real world". Foundations does a great job at exactly what it's meant to do, give you a foundational understanding of UX enough to figure out if you would like to move forward in the field or not. I decided that I did and I ended up joining "Step 2" which is Career Jumpstart. It's been a great journey and I have no regrets. I will say that, as with most things, you get out what you put into it.

I loved how organized it was. It didn't feel like once I paid I was on my own. Having access to mentors and other peers is extremely helpful in staying accountable. Avocademy has done a great job with building an active community. For me, that a piece that really made all the difference. Community = networking, support & accountability.

I completed Career Jumpstart from November 2022- May 2023. During that time, I learned advanced design skills, worked with 3 real clients to add to my portfolio, and received support with resume, portfolio, interview, and job search skills. You should definitely be prepared to put in the work, but the mentors are all so invested in your success and will do anything to help you land a job. They are so supportive and help build your confidence when you're feeling down. I landed a job in 4.5 months and it wouldn't have been possible without all of the support I received from the mentors and community. 

I loved the Avocademy Foundations Course! I have been learning UX/UI independently for a few years in my current position, so I decided it was finally time to learn in a formal setting. I wasn't sure if it was going to be right for me since I knew a bit about UX/UI already, but it ended up being incredibly helpful! The foundations course was perfect for learning the end-to-end process of UX/UI design. I learned so much more than I thought and it gave me a much better understanding of how and why we design. The mentors were amazing for helping me talk through things, review my work, and more. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who's looking to get into the field.

I started with the Google certificate first but needed a bit more guidance so I signed up for Avocademy foundations instead. Honestly, it's a very solid foundation program, especially the mentor support and feedback that do provide a more in-depth understanding if you are having trouble with certain topics. The Speaker series and office hours they provide were exceptionally educational. 
Though, the only negative I want to point out is that there is a chance of running into misunderstandings in the wireframe part of the program with mentors in explaining your design. Luckily, the program is very receptive to feedback and makes improvements to better students' experience constantly. The curriculum is pretty fast-paced if you are also working full-time. It took me a total of 6 months to finish the program, and I struggled hard during the first few months since I was working full-time. Overall, I learned a lot and the program set me up to pursue UX/UI further. 

 The Avocademy UX/UI foundations course is an excellent and accessible introduction to UX design, surpassing self-led online courses in terms of mentorship and structured learning. Having tried both approaches, I found that the guidance from mentors and the pressure to complete projects and assignments on time created a conducive learning environment, particularly for newcomers exposed to a wealth of information in a new field. This course serves as an ideal opportunity to gauge one's interest and aptitude in UX design and offers invaluable insights, even for those not pursuing design specifically. Continually refining itself to enhance student learning and relationships, the course boasts exceptional grace, patience, and expertise, providing an inviting introduction to the world of UX. The Avocademy experience has had a significant impact on my career direction, with the completion of this milestone being a tremendous asset in my professional journey. 

I used Avocademy's Foundations program as my starting point for learning UX design. The program provides a great background on best practices and patterns, with a variety of materials such as videos and articles that provide a broad perspective. The assignments allow ample room to practice and apply what you learn. The mentorship is critical here - receiving immediate feedback after assignments and along the way helps fine-tune your knowledge base and contextualize what you're learning. While sometimes the feedback can be very picky, it shows itself by getting a big return on the end design. I gained a lot of confidence throughout the program by going through the revision process and learning how to present myself to design mentors. I even remain connected with a few of those mentors outside of the program.

The Career Jumpstart program (different from Foundations) is even cooler, with the chance to work with real clients and teams of other students. It seems daunting at first, but once you get going you realize how much you actually know and how prepared you are to tackle UX projects.

I recently finished foundations awhile back. It started when I was looking into starting a career transition. That’s when I found Avocademy through research. I was really looking into finding a more fulfilling career. The course materials are thorough and easily to understand. Foundations definitely prepared me to get an understanding of what UX/UI is all about.

I recently completed the UX/UI Foundations course and am now in the Career Jumpstart program at this bootcamp, and I have to say that it has been a truly wonderful experience. Full disclosure: I completed Avocademy's UX/UI Foundations bootcamp prior to completing their Career Jumpstart (CJ)  program. This review will relate primarily towards my experience for CJ!

I can only speak to my experience but to start, I completed Avocademy's ux/ui foundations bootcamp then applied to CJ. In order to be accepted, you have to be able to complete a design challenge and explain your thought process along with mentors taking your portfolio into consideration. I was accepted into CJ and began my journey on January 2, 2023. 

CJ is split into 3 phases: phase 1 is introductory modules as well as design practice thru Figma, phase 2 (my personal favorite) was where students got to work with real life clients on real life projects, and phase 3 is the job searching phase.  Phase 1 is pretty self-explanatory - they wanted us to brush up on best practices by reading articles/watching videos/completing design practice activities.  Phase 2 was my favorite part because I was able to actually get real life experience working on client products! I completed 2 client projects on teams of 5, where I was a team lead for one of them. (Pro tip: apply to be a team lead - recruiters and hiring managers love the experience!) This gave me a great insight to see what it'd be like to work in an agile setting with cross functional collaboration teams (designers/pm/developers/stakeholders). This was just a truly unique experience that I don't think I could've gotten anywhere else. Phase 3 was an interesting one for me because I lucked out. I ended up finiding my job about 3 weeks into my job search and the hiring manager loved me so much they ended up offering me the top of the pay range for the job! 

All in all, without this program that Maca and Alex have built with their own hands, I don't think I would've been prepared enough to make this career change within 8 months. The endless support I received from mentors and peers alike helped motivate me throughout both of these bootcamps. While 8 months seems like a short time, I had to put in countless hours of hardwork to make something I'm proud of. If you have the money, time, and are willing to put in the effort, I say you take the chance to break into ux/ui design by joining these bootcamps!!

Recently paid $1900 dollars for this program and then fell sick and wound up in hospital. When I tried to resume my courses- didn’t even get past 2 courses- they locked me out and said they would not adjust program despite medical records/evidence.

Not only did I waste so much money on this, but the staff was so rude and money hungry they didn’t care. It would’ve taken nothing for them to let me do the program I paid for but they refused. I am warning everyone of this horrible experience and money wasted on this non accredited fake program. Literally could learn more on youtube (which they point you to anyways). BEWARE- go with a real, accredited school/program. 

Hands down the most wonderful experience I've ever had. Words cannot express how grateful I am for Avocademy. They'll provide you with all the necessary tools and resources to streamline your UX/UI Design Bootcamp experience.  If you're looking to transition into UX/UI Design or on a career pivot, this Bootcamp will not let you down! The mentors and instructors truly care about you as a person and a student. I successfully transition into a UX Designer role in 10 months and I owe it to Avocademy for making it possible! I will 150% recommend it to anyone looking to enroll in a UX/UI Bootcamp!
