UTSA Boot Camps

Going through the edX Full-Stack Coding Boot Camp through the University of Texas at San Antonio was one of the most intense and rewarding experiences of my life. From day one, it was clear that this program wasn’t just about learning to code—it was about transformation.




The pace was fast, the expectations were high, and the challenges were real. But with every late night and every complex project, I grew—both as a developer and as a problem-solver. The curriculum covered everything from front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and React, to back-end fundamentals like Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. We didn’t just study concepts—we applied them in real-world scenarios, building full-stack applications from scratch and collaborating in agile teams.




What made the experience truly valuable was the support system: dedicated instructors, skilled TAs, and classmates who pushed each other to succeed. It wasn’t easy, but nothing worth achieving ever is.




Now, I walk away from this program with confidence, a solid foundation in full-stack development, and the mindset to keep learning and growing in this ever-evolving industry. I’m proud to be a graduate of this boot camp—and even prouder of the work I put in to earn it.

There is no denying the ubiquity of web development. With the mass expansion of java script being the lengua franca of the Internet, many aspects of software development that once established a hierarchy based on deep foundations of computer engineering; this camp proves the value of full stack's relevance and its demand at the core of this rapidly evolving paradigm. With that said; however, it is as difficult as it is compelling. And, I'd say, for the faint of heart; nor dim of mind. Read less

This was one of the most challenging programs I've ever completed but I can definitely say the quality of the lessons, collaboration, team work and instructors passion for UX were some of the highlights of my experience as a student. 
It has been a pleasure and an amazing journey in the UX UI Design bootcamp at UTSA. I enjoyed, loved and appreciated every second I got to spend/work with my colleagues and instructors. The feedback I received was special to me and effective in sharpening my UX Designer skills.

During my experience with the UTSA Data Analytics Bootcamp I was able to refine some of the skills that I had picked up during my time working on my bachelors degree. I previously had gotten a certificate in python and gained some knowledge in using R Studio and IBM statistical methods. With this course I was able to build upon those skills and learn many other programs that are going to assist me in my next step of my career. I am now able to seek out better paying jobs and my opportunities have grown exponentially. This course has opened many more doors for me and is going to be key in my future career choices. Enrolled myself in UTSA Bootcamp is the best decision ever. Yes, it is intense but if you are ready to spend most of the time learning then it will be worth it. I'm lucky to say I got amazing instructors and TA members who is ready to educate us and help us whenever we stuck on some topics or challenges. All you have to do is keep studying, ask questions and follow the resources the instructor shares with you. If you are serious about taking your career to next level, I would suggest you enroll in UTSA bootcamp. Read less

I want to start by saying I never leave reviews. I am a special education teacher for a local Jr High. With my family growing I decided to try and take on this course for a career change. Talking with the recruitment team and looking at the growth of this field I decided to take the chance and I was able to make it through. I was able to make it through with absolutely ZERO background knowledge in this field and while also still teaching full-time. This bootcamp has challenged me and my classmates in ways I never would've expected, but I've also learned things I never would've thought I would be able to learn. The instructor was very helpful throughout the course. He often said it's like drinking from a firehose and it couldn't have been more true. My favorite aspect of the bootcamp was collaborating for projects. Your peers can be a lifeline throughout the course. The pace was excruciatingly fast paced, but the assistance that this bootcamp offers was so incredible.  The instructional team would always say you get out what you put into it and that is the best piece of advice I can say for any future student. Come to each class with the mentality that you are going to work as hard as you can so you can have this material stick with you throughout the class. Lastly, don't be afraid to collaborate with your peers. They are struggling the same way you are, so you can get through the struggle together and come out stronger on the other side.

I realized my passion for software engineering post graduate and decided to pursue a new career. I started teaching myself programming through free and paid online courses. After two years I still didn’t have a good understanding or focus. I decided to take the plunge with a coding bootcamp. After researching online, I decided to go with the UTSA Full Stack Web Development bootcamp because it was focused on a modern technology stack that was relevant with today’s employers. They also have access to career services and I wanted to get hired right away. 
At first I was worried about the bootcamp covering material that I already knew but the classes quickly surpassed my knowledge. They meticulously teach you the skills to go from no code (beginner) to full stack web developer. The classes are long and arduous and there is no wasted time. The instructor and TA's were extremely helpful and supportive. They don’t make you feel like an idiot for asking dumb questions. Jeremy was an awesome instructor and he deserves a reward. He is brilliant about breaking down concepts so they are easier to understand. He is passionate about teaching and wants to help you understand. He also brings real world experience and insight. Michelle was our student success manager and she was a great motivator and wants you to succeed. Everyone is available to you by email and Slack so, it’s very easy to find answers. All classmates have access to the Slack channel so you can help each other as well. 
IF YOU’RE NOT 110% COMMITTED TO THIS COURSE, DO NOT TAKE IT!!!!! We started with around 30 people on day 1 and only about 10 people finished the course with a few not even receiving a certificate because of excessive absences or incomplete assignments. They try to warn you about your time commitment (I was skeptical too) but, seriously, you need to dedicate class time plus about 6-10 hours of studying per week outside of class. I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS BOOTCAMP IF YOU CANNOT COMMIT TO THE TIME. You will lose your money and be really disappointed. 

Overall, I'm really happy with my experience and the bootcamp is well worth it. I recommend it to anyone wanting to pursue a career in web development.

I have always been interested in computers and anything tech, but I never pursued this as a career choice because I thought it was way beyond me. After always working in tech, but at the bottom doing boring work, I decided to make the move. I felt like I was going nowhere and felt like I was wasting time. I finally enrolled in school again to learn to code. 

The experience was amazing. At times it was very stressful and at times I felt like quitting, not going to lie, but I kept going and kept my goal in the back of my mind. The 6 months passed so fast! It is crazy. Now that I have finished I feel so great! All of the sleepless nights and stress is worth it. What I love about the bootcamp is that it is online! We can do it from the comfort of our homes or work office. Another thing I loved is that it forces us to stick to a strict schedule. This was perfect for me because it helps me stay disciplined and focused and get things done on time. Finally, you have the support of the teachers and other peers and you form bonds. 

Advice I can give out is just don't give up. That's it. It does get better!  Read less

The curriculum is very informative, their is so much to learn in very short time. The professor was very professional and did his best to educate us in very complex material. The course is rigorous with high expectation before graduation. The only downside in my opinion is the cost and job assistance at the end of the course. When i enrolled to the bootcamp about a year ago the cost was set at over 11k, the reason why i believe its excessive is because how much material has to be reviewed that its hard to learn and retain information. During the course i felt overwhelmed because of that, maybe if the material was more condensed i would feel like i got my moneys worth. Also in the beginning you are only given a week to back out of the bootcamp, which is not a lot of time to decided. Job assistance after the course is fair but not great, there's different approaches you can take after graduation in regards to job search. I hope this help any future students before enrolling.
