    Changed my career

I was incredibly pleased with my experience at UNCC's Coding Bootcamp.  The curriculum is up to date and clearly adapts to changing market demands.  My instructors and TA's were also incredibly helpful.

Before I did this bootcamp I was teaching high school English and seriously needed a change. The boot camp gave me a TON of information across a full stack of development and really helped me understand the things I needed to get into the workforce.

I do think it is imp...

UNCC Coding Bootcamp - From Student to Developer

Attending the bootcamp changed my life for the better, I truly had a wonderful experience from start to finish. It was also one of the hardest things I have ever attempted to do, but it put me in the position to succeed and that is extremely valuable. Like other reviewers have mentioned putting in time and effort is the only way to get any return on your investment. I recommend the program to anyone who has the drive to make a change in their life, wants a chance to change careers or just ...

    Life-Changing

This program provides excellent, constantly updated curriculum. In a profession where skill demand changes quickly, this can not be understated. But more importantly, the course teaches you how to think like a developer. I've found that this profession is more of a lifestyle and the learning does not end at graduation.

The instructors are professionals with many years of real-world development experience. They can tell you exactly how the ski...

    Career Change

I was interested in a change of direction for my career, had some previous coding experience, and knew that the internet is just a series of tubes. Before applying, I considered online courses but was more interested in the advantages of being part of an in person group dedicated to the same goal - it was amazing the growth in skill and confidence of the entire cohort! The support was great, from the TAs to Career Services and Student Success. The instructors clearly care about the student...

    Fast-paced course

The Coding Boot Camp at UNCC taught me many of the fundamentals of Web Development in a short 6 months. The program was tough at times, and easy at other times. Through the skills I learned during both the technical curriculum, as well as the offerred career curriculum, I was able to procure a position about a month after graduating the course, with having absolutely no coding knowledge prior to signing up. The instructor was amazing, and a great developer with a sense of humor and passion...

    Full-Stack Web Development

Please avoid this bootcamp. As I'm sure most of you reading this post have found elsewhere throughout the web, that the UNC at Charlotte "Coding Bootcamp" actually has no affiliation whatsoever with the actual UNCC, other than paying them a portion of their revenue as a means to utilize the schools name & image. The actual company of this bootcamp is "Trilogy Education" or "2u", and a simple google search of either of the 2's "coding bootcamps" will give you a rough...

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback. The student experience is our top priority, and we regret to hear your boot camp experience did not live up to your expectations.

Like you noted, UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies has partnered with Trilogy Education Services (TES), a 2U, Inc., brand, to offer the UNC Charlotte Coding Boot Camp. TES works hand in hand with more than 50 top universities to expand access to tech education for working adults. Both UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies and TES are truly dedicated to transforming participants' lives and aim to be fully transparent about this relationship throughout the entire learning experience.

We have a multi-step admissions process to ensure that individuals are set up for success. We begin with an initial phone interview, followed by a timed, critical thinking and problem-solving assessment that applicants must pass with a score of 70 or above in order to move forward. Only once prospective learners have made it through these screenings are they accepted into the program. Our enrollment agreement and admissions process do strive to make the refund policy for the program clear, noting that refunds are not possible after the drop period ends.

Our course material is designed to cover a broad array of topics using extensive research and input from industry employers, focusing on in-demand tools and technologies used in the local market while teaching participants how to learn so they can further hone their skills after completing the boot camp. We appreciate your feedback as we're constantly optimizing our curriculum and program offerings.

We have a dedicated career services team that provides comprehensive professional development assistance. While we do not secure direct employment for our students, we do provide up to 75 hours of professional development opportunities which include resume and portfolio reviews, virtual tech panels, technical interview training, and 1:1 meetings with their Career Coach once there is an employer-ready resume on file. We begin by helping individuals become employer-ready, qualifying them for additional support services that will then help them progress to becoming employer-competitive candidates who can ultimately enter job interviews fully prepared. We aim to be responsive to every request we receive and apologize for any delays you experienced in communication.

We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further to see if we can provide any additional learning or career support you may need at this time. If you would like, please contact us directly at (704) 601-6030.

    Time well spent

Your mileage may vary, but here's my take:

You're starry eyed, you hate your job and this is the way out...I get it. Take a breath and try to do some research so you can to get an idea of what you're getting yourself into. This is a field that requires a commitment to coding for as long as you want to be a professional developer-- always trying new things and always learning. This is a bootcamp that will have you doing homework, and projects in addition to self-study and class-t...

Congratulations on your position as a developer! And thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. As you mention, it’s important for future students to know that this course does require a time commitment for dedicated study and practice outside of class. You also make an excellent point in that professional web developers are often required to learn new languages and tools. These are fantastic insights.

It’s wonderful that you enjoyed the collaborative atmosphere, and were able to build a network of peers within your cohort. We know that the ability to work with others is important in the field of web development, so we’ve designed a curriculum that incorporates opportunities for teamwork in order to simulate real-world professional working conditions.

We love that you enjoyed duck-debugging, and that our team was able to support you during the rigors of this program. We hope you’re proud of all of the hard work you put into completing the course. We’re so excited for your continued success, and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
