The journey was full of growth, emotions, and wonderful experiences.

Having been at home for far too long as a 40-something year old mum, I knew I needed to do something fulfilling and exciting. I had no intention of returning to my previous profession. The School of Code was my answer, a chance to learn a new skillset that was in demand, exciting, and challenging. It is a very welcoming experience from the moment you start the application. This has been the most challenging 16 weeks of my life and I have never done anything like before. But the more diff...

    Changing Life Career

Two years ago I decided to change my career to Tech, I have been studying by myself but without any success and was feeling lost, I found School of Code and they saved me from all the frustration and difficulties that I was suffering from studying by myself and not having any support. School of code is intense, but the most rewarding experience that a person can have in his life. I recently got graduated as a software engineer and now I really feel that I am ready for starting a new care...

Amazing curriculum, passionate staff and welcoming environment

The School of Code bootcamp experience was fantastic. I learnt a wide range of tech stacks and the necessary soft skills to get in to a tech role. The staff are passionate, knowledgable and incredibly welcoming. The environment is open to everyone and hugely supportive. The school is well connected in the industry and had interesting guest lectures throughout.

I would recommend it to anyone looking to move into the tech sector. It’s a warm and friendly environment to learn in and ...

School of Code, Brum - 16 weeks that changed my life

The best way I can describe the School of Code in one sentence is “the absolute perfect place for someone to go from knowing almost nothing about programming to be ready for employment in only 16 weeks”. I enjoyed every minute of SoC from the moment we stepped in through the doors on day 1 with 24 strangers to leaving after demo day as fully fledged software developers who are now friends for life. The programme is crammed with cutting edge industry technology and best practic...

    Best. School. Ever.

Before starting the 16-week School of Code bootcamp I had not written a line of code. Now I feel more than ready for employment in the tech industry.

At School of Code every part of the curriculum is designed to turn students into junior developers. The syllabus is built around the core languages of HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the browser, and Node.js server side. Early on, we used Express and React together to build full stack applications. These frameworks provided a platform ...

    Life Changing

I spent 16 weeks here between Jan 2020 and May 2020 and it has honestly changed my life. It's a free boot camp which will teach numerous languages in a rapid time frame. Its 100% accessible for people who have never coded before. As long as you have the drive to learn you will succeed. They support you after its finished, and continue to involve previous boot campers in the community. I don't know what I would have done without it.

Not your Average Bootcamp - Life Changing

As a graduate of School of Code, who read a fair bit about bootcamps prior to attending School of Code I feel it is important to first explain why SOC is not your average bootcamp:

    • School of Code is a 100% FREE, (business model based on recruiter fees, partners/sponsors & investors) - therefore bootcampers pay nothing - no down payment, no % of subsequent salary.
    • The 16-week bootcamp takes people from absolute scratch,  (no pre-requisite 300hr courses...

    Life changing opportunity

I took part in this course with zero coding knowledge.
After 16 weeks of excellent teaching, mentoring, coaching and being fully integrated into the local tech community I found myself with a choice of excellent job opportunities in the tech industry.
A once in a lifetime, life changing opportunity to make a career change into an industry full of exciting roles. School of code is now well regarded within the industry as providing excellent candidat...

    Excellent course

The School of Code was an amazing experience. Chris created a brilliant inclusive environment where we could work cooperatively and I learned a massive amount in 4 months. We learned a range of technical and soft skills and worked on some amazing projects. Everyone had a personal mentor from a company in the Birmingham area who were incredibly helpful and generous with their time. A range of guest speakers gave us a good idea of the range of careers available in the tech...

A route into becoming a Developer.

The School of Code was a fantastic, life changing journey. I was looking for a career change, away from teaching, but struggling to transition into a new career. Initially, it was hard to believe that the course was free to students, but after applying and spending 16 weeks training with Chris at the school of code, I was able to gain a job as a mobile junior developer with a multinational media company.
The 16 week course is very intensive but thoroughly enjoyable, learning a varie...

    Transformational

I went from being a jaded jazz guitarist just about scraping a living to a man with 5 job offers in the space of 4 months. I decided to stay on and work for the School of Code!

Not only did I have the best four months going on an epic journey with 23 other people, I also learned how to code, made great new friends AND got myself a job.

Chris was a fantastic teacher, the course was a fantastic course. I'm so glad that I took the leep of faith and joined the School of Cod...

    An absolute best experience

The highlight I found most appealing was starting the day at bootcamp with new challenges. I was quite satisfied with how Chris taught us how to face a task by drawing it up on paper and breaking it down into smaller chunks BEFORE attempting to code. This made me to not dread being assigned tasks no matter how difficult it may seem.
I especially loved how my colleagues were willing to help each other in problem solving as well as forming some kind of support group.
    One of the diffi...
