What kinds of Python projects can bootcamp students actually build? Because coding bootcamps are largely project-based, students at Python bootcamps like Hackbright Academy, Metis, and Coding Dojo graduate with a full portfolio of web applications and mobile apps. After spotlighting many bootcamp alumni who have built innovative applications using Python and Django, we’re rounding up our favorite Python projects built by bootcampers!
While some tech companies like Slack and Apple have shared that ~7-8% of their US workforces identify as LGBTQ, visibility for LGBTQ+ folks in the tech industry remains a struggle. Diversity in entrepreneurship and in the workplace is essential – it ensures different perspectives and experiences are represented within a team and encourages new ideas and better problem-solving. With 700,000 tech jobs open in the U.S. today and 87% of IT executives admitting that it has been challenging to fill those vacancies, coding bootcamps are uniquely designed to prepare a new, diverse generation for the tech workforce.
From LGBTQ+ scholarships to affinity groups to meetups, we’re rounding up resources for LGBTQ+ folks researching coding bootcamps or for bootcamp graduates who now want to contribute to the LGBTQ+ tech community.Continue Reading →

Schools and universities may be scrambling to figure out remote learning, but coding bootcamps have essentially been preparing for this since 2013. Online coding bootcamps already use Zoom video, Slack, GitHub, and VS Code Live Share for pair programming, online lectures, and to connect mentors and instructors with students. Of course, you can learn to code online – but it doesn’t stop there! Maybe you’ve needed to learn SQL for a while, or sharpen your data science skills, or wrap your head around UX Design. All of these digital skills are being taught online (not to mention, these are jobs that can be done remotely). Online bootcamps have been perfecting the online learning experience for years – and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many in-person bootcamps are launching remote options. If you’re dreaming of a career change while stuck indoors, working from home, or quarantined, then start here – we've rounded up all of the scholarships for anyone impacted by COVID-19, updates from bootcamps regarding classroom closures (and reopenings), and our best tips for job searching online:
At Course Report, we have been keeping tabs on how coding bootcamps are responding to and meeting the needs of their current and upcoming cohorts. We’ve seen in-person coding bootcamps transition to delivering live remote instruction, and also a lot of new hardship scholarships and initiatives to support students breaking into tech now.Continue Reading →
The spectrum of data science jobs is broad – everyone from governments to businesses to non-profit organizations are collecting data. But it takes Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers to turn that data into smart business decisions. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from interviewing so many data science bootcamp graduates, it’s that no two companies use the exact same job titles.Continue Reading →

The coding bootcamp space is certainly not slowing down for summer – in July we read about so many new initiatives happening in the edtech space! Schools raised over $5 million and a bootcamp loan provider raised a $9.8 million Series A round, and several companies like Twitter and huge New York banks are partnering with coding bootcamps to train students. We break down a new income share agreement bill in the Senate, relay tips for determining if an online course is a ‘scam’ and tell you about a handful of new scholarships and apprenticeships. Plus, we’ll share tons of new bootcamps and expansions into new campuses (and we’ll tell you about the one school that closed in July).
Liz had fun interviewing Rachel Bussert, Epicodus’ Director of Student Services who has been coordinating the internship program at Epicodus for over four years. At Course Report, we love internships as an option after bootcamp, and Rachel tells us what she’s learned about finding internship opportunities, the value of an internship before your full-time job search, and how to make the most of an internship once you’ve landed it. Check it out!Continue Reading →
