After some years working on CSS3 and HTML5 I join Skylab Coders Academy willing to improve my career and gain knowledge. After 3 months I can say even though I'm pretty far from being a "Developer" with all its letters, I'm in the right way to become a good professional. Skylab helped me to enter into the development world with a good comprehension of the fundamentals and been prepared for what to come. The right choice without any doubt. 

A good advice for whose wanted to study in Skylab is just work hard, try to seize the time there and don't get anxious if some of the concepts are hard, with time and dedication you will get there, simply never give up.

Until the 7th of January 2019, I had been working in the Hospitality Industry (12 years). I decided to quit my last job as a General Manager as it was not full-filling me anymore. Once I started looking for a new job, I realised that I had no willingness to work in that industry anymore. I ended up googling what I had to do to become a web developer and that is how I heard for the first time of the Web Development Bootcamps and Skylab. I sent them a message and Diana called me immediately. After that wonderful and encouraging conversation, I met Diana and David. Once I stepped in Skylab I knew this would be the place. After a long-conversation with both of them and a skills-test (I had not previous knowledge and I had to learn and practice online to pass it) they told me that If I wanted, I was in. And that is how my 11-week path through this Bootcamp began... 
It's mind-blowing what you are able to to learn and achieve in these weeks. Even more importantly, the family that you build through the hard-work and hours invested everyday. There is where your realise that on your own, you cannot achieve even half of it. 
I am supper happy, and I could not recommend it more. If you want to become a great developer, learn by practicing and with real work methodologies, do not think it twice and go for Skylab.

Antes de empezar el curso te encuentras que has de realizar el pre-curso, una forma de conocer a tus compañeros, poner-te a tono y para muchos de mis compañeros, la primera toma de contacto con la programación, javascript, html y CSS, ahí ya empiezas a ver que no es un curso fácil dónde con acudir a clase tendrás suficiente y que te va exigir que le dediques algún ratito en casa.

Luego empieza el curso 11 semanas intensas dónde cada día se abren nuevas vías de conocimiento y tu cerebro empieza a tener que absorber conocimientos a ritmo de fibra de última generación, ahí ves también como nos enfrentamos todos a los retos, compañeros que parece que no llegan y acabas de formar una familia dónde nadie se queda atrás y dónde se pone a todo el mundo al límite.

Casi sin que te des cuenta han pasado 11 semanas, a parte de las horas “oficiales” del curso te das cuenta que has dedicado todas las horas libres que tenias a aprender y crecer y estas ante tus compañeros y la comunidad skylaber presentando un proyecto que antes de empezar dudo que te planteases que podías hacer a la vez que ves a todos y cada uno de tus compañeros con su proyecto y con su cara de no me creo que yo haya hecho esto.

A partir de aquí te encuentras que cada semana se publican ofertas de trabajo en el slack del centro y entras a una rueda de entrevistas y pruebas técnicas que te llevan a un nuevo trabajo y a una nueva vida dónde eres desarrollador y estás dentro de una comunidad increíble llamada skylabers.

Por tanto, ¿Quieres cambiar de vida? ¿Quieres ser desarrollador? ¿Vale este cambio unos meses a tope? Si la respuesta es que si, este es tu curso, si no te va el ponerte al límite mejor que no te apuntes.

I was working in the world of tech and financial support for years but since I started to get older I knew it was necessary a change before it was too late.

I had always been intrigued by the world of programming and suddenly I realised the time to learn how to write and read an universal language had come and I choose Javascript.

I was checking for all the bootcamp in the area but since I was a full time worker I needed something that could fits my shifts and I found it...and actually I had been really lucky. 
Skylab Coders Academy changed my life totally. Being surrounded by professionals like the ones I knew at Skylab has been an enlightening experience.

I had hard months preparing the pre-course and harder times doing the part-time course that came later but, really, it was the right choice. 
The strict selection they do with students had generated an incredible and pro-active team, my mates and I felt like we were a real squad.

Entré a Skylab para expandir conocimientos de programación y mejorar como developer, y vaya si lo he hecho. Desde el primer día en Skylab se aprende muchísimo, son once semanas muy duras, en las que hay que trabajar muy duro y muchas horas para sacarle el máximo jugo que el bootcamp ofrece. Pese a ser las once semanas en las que más he trabajado nunca, las volvería a hacer sin dudarlo, principalmente porque se aprende muchísimo, siempre cuentas con el apoyo de los profesores y, sobre todo, de los compañeros. Se respira un ambiente muy familiar y agradable, donde todo el mundo tiene intereses parecidos a los tuyos. Por eso le recomiendo a todo el mundo que se lo este planteando que se apunte a Skylab. Por ultimo decir que catorce dias después de terminar el bootcamp he encontrado un trabajo con el que estoy muy contento e ilusionado. I was a self a taught and successful wordpress developer since 6 years, when I felt the need to go deeper in code, to be able to build anything in code and understand it deeply.

So I found skylab, and David with his deep empathy and humanity convinced me very quickly that it was the right one among others.
I don't know if I realised how much I learned during these small 11 weeks, but I for sure realised it after! I also saw some people that have never coded before doing amazing things.
How much you can learn in 11 weeks is amazing.

Well after finishing I realised that I was needing to work in  a company to grow my skills, as I was more in search of experience than employment(my actual business stills rolling), I was very picky on my research, so I only applied to one offer which was checking all the boxes for me, from salary to product, flexibility etc...And I'm beginning there monday as front end react developer!

For me it took 4 months because I was not really searching in the beginning, but most of my colleagues found work in less than a month!

So, once, 6 years ago the web changed my life, and today skylab has brought me to the next level I was looking for.
But If you have never coded, and want that, don't be afraid, it will blow your mind, and 4 months after you will be a web developer working in a company and beginning an exciting carrer

Mi experiencia ha sido de 10. O mejor dicho, sigue siendo, porque aunque acabes el bootcamp, esto no significa que acabes la relación con Skylab. Esto es una de las cosas que más me ha gustado, la gran comunidad que se ha creado entre alumnos, ex-alumnos, profesores y otros grandes profesionales que trabajan en esta escuela.

 

En lo referente al curso, puedo decir que es duro, tal y como prometen que va a ser, pero también quiero aclarar, que si afrontas los tres meses con una mentalidad positiva, te apoyas en los compañeros y profesores, la recompensa que obtienes cuando la acabas está por encima del precio que has pagado por la matrícula.

 

En mi caso particular, nunca había programado, no vengo este sector ni tengo estudios superiores, pero tras acabar el bootcamp soy capaz de hacer aplicaciones y usar tecnologías que hace unos meses ni sabía que existían.

 

Y no solo eso. Una de las razones principales por las que elegí Skylab es por las estadísticas que acumulaban en cuanto a porcentaje de ex-alumnos trabajando en el sector. En mi caso se ha cumplido con creces. En solamente 3 semanas desde que finalicé, he encontrado trabajo como desarrollador Frontend. Y lo que más me sorprendió no es haber encontrado este trabajo, si no todas las distintas opciones y ofertas que he manejado y haber sido capaz de superar todas las pruebas técnicas que he realizado (unas 4 de distintas empresas).

 

Únicamente me queda agradecer a todos y cada uno de los grandes profesionales que forman el equipo de Skylab y felicitar a David por lo que ha conseguido, algo que va más allá de un simple curso o una simple academia.

Después de 10 años trabajando en marketing y varios puestos de administración (cursé Administración y Dirección de Empresas) miraba hacia delante y no veía ningún aliciente laboral, totalmente aburrido y cumpliendo la función que me tocaba en mi puesto de trabajo. Pensé que la vida es muy corta y son muchas las horas que nos pasamos en el trabajo, qué menos que hacer algo que realmente te motive y estimule tu cerebro. Después de más de un año comparando escuelas y con muchas dudas interna: ¿realmente me gusta? ¿vas a dejar un trabajo estable? ¿puedo ser capaz  de aprender algo tan técnico en poco menos de 3 meses? ¿realmente me contratará alguien después de este curso? por suerte contesté que SÍ a las 3 primeras y me la jugué con la cuarta. En este punto fue cuando me decidí por Skylab, después de hablar varias veces con David Monreal, me convenció. Me transmitió una confianza que raramente había tenido al gastarme tanto dinero.

Una de las cosas que me dio seguridad a la hora de escoger el curso, es que David personalmente se encargaba de escoger a las que iban a ser mis compañeros. Los conocimientos que tengas de programación no son importantes aquí, lo que se valora es la motivación, ingrediente fundamental para superar con éxito el curso. Las 11 semanas de curso fueron una auténtica pasada, el contenido es complicado y difícil, pero nada que alguien motivado no pueda aprender, además aquí no hay límite de cosas que puedas aprender, el límite lo pones tu. El profesorado, tanto el profesor titular como asistentes son auténticos cracks que te guiarán y te llevarán por el camino correcto. El ambiente que se crea en el curso es fenomenal, es una auténtica comunidad de gente apasionada por la programación, antiguos alumnos se siguen reuniendo en Skylab para compartir conocimiento o problemas con sus proyectos. El seguimiento a nivel de coaching para el mundo laboral es fantástico también, con conexiones reales con empresas potentes del sector harán lo posible para colocarte en la posición adecuada para encontrar trabajo, el resto ya depende de ti. 

No quiero que parezca que Skylab te lo da todo hecho, no es así, no puedes esperar que te resuelvan todos tus problemas en la escuela ni que hagan por ti las pruebas para acceder a una empresa, no van a hacerlo. Tienes que trabajar para conseguirlo, con mayúsculas, ellos te dan las herramientas, que no es poco y todo el soporte humano y técnico que tengan al alcance. 

Al terminar el curso en seguida entré en tres procesos de selección y a las 2 semanas puedo decir que ya soy developer con todas las letras, ya que superé uno de los procesos de selección. En definitiva, 10 días desde la finalización del curso hasta encontrar trabajo, y así  casi todos mis compañeros de promoción...

Gracias Skylab por ayudarme no solo a re enfocar mi carrera sino a descubrirme una PROFESIÓN!

Al principio no estaba muy seguro de si apostar por un bootcamp, y en caso de que si cuál de ellos. Esta gran duda fué disipada en una llamada con David. 
Aposté mi futuro en sus manos y ha sido una muy buena inversión. He aprendido todo lo que buscaba y más, son unos grandes profesionales sin dejar de lado la relación humana. Para mí Skylab es como una familia. Después de estar varias horas al día con la misma gente, compartiendo dudas y problemas, celebrando pequeños éxitos día tras día; se crea una conexión que no creo que olvide nunca.

Harto de mi anterior trabajo decidí darle una cambio radical a mi vida, fue una apuesta arriesgada ya que para ello tuve que cambiar de de ciudad con todos los gastos que eso conlleva y pagar el curso, pero como bien he indicado en el título, esto no es un gasto como cuando vas un domingo por la mañana a tomarte un café o como darte un capricho y gastarte un dinero en algo que "Siempre habías querido", Skylab es mucho más que eso. En el transcurso del bootcamp vas a redescubrirte, vas a disfrutar aprendiendo y David Monreal se va a encargar de cuidar cada detalle, para que tu estancia, aunque sufrida, sea una experiencia única.

I did this bootcamp during summer of 2017 because at that moment I didn't have a job and I was looking for a change in my life. So, I decided to find a place where study all these things that companies and startups are looking for right now.

My idea was IronHack. I did an interview at Ironhack and I liked it, but I was not entirely sure that was the right place for me. After that, I discovered Skylab on this website (I think so), so I went to speak with them. I have to say that after to talk with David, Àngels and Bea, I decided to sign-up the same day and it was a great choice.

I finished the bootcamp 3 weeks ago and when I look back I can see how much I've learned. Some recommendations for new students:

-If you are decided to do a bootcamp, be open mind and positive.

-Do all the pre-course (very important IMHO)

-Study a lot after the bootcamp. After all, the most important thing is "learn how to learn" and then keeping learning new stuff, because this is changing all the time. In this course you will learn Basics of code, but then you will have to study deeper by your own. So, the most important thing is your approach, because like this you will find how to solve mistakes during the course and then. BTW, thanks to this bootcamp I've found a job as a Front-End Developer!

In short, highly recommended :)

He hecho el bootcamp de skylab de web development de 10 semanas. Concretamente con el MEAN STACK (Mongo, expressjs, angular, nodejs). Sin duda alguna ha sido la mejor decisión que hubiere podido tomar, una semana antes de acabar el curso consegui trabajo, he empezado a la semana siguiente, justo cuando ya había acabado el curso. He podido cumplir un sueño gracias a Skylab que ES DEDICARME A AQUELLO QUE ME PONE LOS PELOS DE PUNTA CADA MAÑANA. Estoy trabajando como fullstack developer, usando tecnologias algunas de ellas aprendidas en el curso y otras no. Pese a ello el bootcamp nos da una base tan buen y solida que somos capaces de aprender nuevas tecnologias con mayor facilidad por lo que aprender Angular 4 y Typescript no será facil pero es más que posible y en unas dos semanas espero estar más que al día en estas tecnologias.

Puede parecer que Skylab pueda ser un curso más de desarrollo web ya que hoy en día hay tantos y tantos.... PERO NO ES ASÍ! Skylab es un curso donde solo personas CON GRAN CAPACIDAD DE ESFUERZO Y SACRIFICIO PUEDEN ENTRAR. Skylab es un curso donde todo el mundo con este perfil puede entrar SIN NECESIDAD DE SABER PROGRAMAR. Disponen de un precurso EXCELENTE para introducirse a la programación a más cuentan con profesores magnificos que pueden seguir al alumno más avanzado allí donde quiera y seguir instruyendole mucho más lejos.

Recomendaría skylab sin duda, gracias a ellos he podido cambiar y pasar de estudiar derecho a dedicarme a la programación y seguir con una carrera que empeze hace un año y medio atras que es multimedia.

La INVERSIÓN que he hecho la volvería a hacer sin dudarlo!

Literally, the best course I have ever taken and an amazing learning experience.

When I was in Skylab I felt like part of a family not only with the teachers and the classmates but also with David, the founder. He is so close to the students and alumni at any time; before, during and after the bootcamp.

A remarkable mention to the teachers, with a great capacity to synthesize, full of experience in the field and helpful anytime you have a doubt, that you cannot find to any online course.

Skylab does not only prepare students to learn Javascript and the MEAN stack, but the whole idea of being a developer, making it easier to you to adapt and learn any other language, in the future. Skylab gives you the skills that the IT industry is demanding and the tools that a developer needs.

Also, the adjusted cost of the course… believe me the course’s value is much higher than what it costs.

To me, all this makes the difference to any other similar course.

Un gran programa de estudio que ayuda a los estudiantes a introducirse en el sector del desarrollo web y a tener las herramientas necesarias para poder comenzar con cualquier otra tecnología, gracias a la solida base que se obtiene a lo largo de todo el bootcamp.

Una gran familia de profesionales, que siempre está dispuesta a ayudar en todo lo necesario, tenga o no que ver con el curso.

He de remarcar que llegue de Málaga sin mucha confianza en el curso, pero me lleve una gran sorpresa y antes de terminar la primera semana ya sabía que había elegido el mejor camino que podía seguir. Y ahora no volveré para Málaga.

Great teachers, a lot of knowledge, hard working people... if you like to learn to code for hours with a high level of intensity and perseverance this is the bootcamp for you. The best tools in the front-end and the back-end for developers today. Also during the bootcamp they will bring you a lot of people from differents areas to instruct you about new incommings softwares, the most used tools in the market or help you with the requirements to get a good job.

A few months ago I was looking for a bootcamp to start with my dev journey. I visited and studied different options here in Barcelona and finally after the admission test/interviews I had to choose between two academies (Codeworks and Skylab Coders). I put all my money in Skylab because of the teacher experience and the class schedule (amount of hours / day) and really I can't be more happy with the results.
I've met a lot of teachers in my life (an engineering career, two masters and different training courses), but just a few of them I can remember for been really good in what they do. I can say that Juan Ma (Skylab lead professor) is part of that tiny list now. He keeps things "simple", push you forward and keeps you focus through all the course.
Off course, he is not alone, Alex, David and Manuela will also give you support through all the bootcamp, they will make you feel like home. Skylab it's like a little family and I can't recommend it enough, you won't be disappointed.

Skylab is a " show me your code and explain me how it ticks " kind of coding bootcamp. Real developers know their code inside-out and can understand other's code is something I learned here and I'm more than happy with the 10 awesome weeks. Juanma, the lead instructor, is an like an encyclopedia of web development knowledge. His understanding of javascript, his ways of teaching, how he understands where and what you are doing wrong and how should you approach a problem is something out of this world. My companions were one of the most friendly, hard-working and similar minded people who strived for the same goals everyday - to be better as a person and as a team together. The environment to study was very peaceful and the mini coffee and lunch breaks we had together was enjoyable. A perfect combination of affordable price, awesome teaching team, great management, cool friends and study materials.
