Correlation One

 DS4A Empowerment has changed my life. It evolved my “professional toolkit” while solidifying the intellectual foundation I needed to continue building my career.  Before this program I asked questions like “what does the data tell us?”. I now ask, “why are we only using this type of data?”, “how can we access more data?”, and “how can we leverage more specific data to enhance our decisions or focus?”.  This program has allowed me to multiply the value that I add to any company or team. I’ve found myself collaborating with a COO on exploring strategic ways to enhance our value proposition by leveraging data. I’ve challenged a startup on their process of analyzing data in excel and felt extremely comfortable asking them "Where are the Pandas!? Pandas!? Pandas!?" (inside joke for my C1 DS4A Fellows).  The entire DS4A Empowerment experience was priceless. Natesh Pillai is officially the best professor I have ever learned from! The TA’s really care about your success and share their years of experience to help you succeed. The entire community of fellows support each other, reinforcing the belief and identity of the DS4A empowerment movement!  The program also does a great job bringing in corporate sponsors who actively recruit from the program. They go above and beyond to try to connect you with anyone from those companies. The job assistance is perfect for those in the early stage of their career as most jobs are entry level.   Read less

Correlation One was amazing from day one to the end! 

The curriculum is case based, so we learned by doing while being exposed to real world projects. The Saturday live classes provide the opportunity to interact with the instructors and ask questions when they come up. The community was fantastic! People were supportive and helpful to one another throughout the program. There is a group project which is developed during the 13-week time frame -- this was challenging! However, the support is there through mentors, teaching assistants, your fellow teammates and the community (via Slack).

The level of organization with the activities, classes, events, assignments.. were remarkable. I was pleasantly surprised all along. It is a data science fellowship, but it's also so much more! The word Empowerment in the program is not there by chance. The program was built to empower the fellows not only through the technical knowledge but also through the celebration of diversity. This part had a great impact on me; it increased my self-confidence -- as a consequence it has made me a better professional.

In the job assistance part, C1 has partnered with tier 1 companies in several segments; there were career fairs and recruiting events during the program.

Overall, I had an incredible experience! I feel like the program has provided me with a strong data science foundation which I can continue to build upon. Read less

This was a fantastic program and incredibly well organized. From the curriculum, content, support from teacher asssitants and lead professors to guest speakers and job assistance. The support everyone involved in this program and the students put into this is real. My SQL and Python knowledge was at a very basic level before starting, and tafter the program I feel much more confident on what I learned and to apply it directly in my job. I took the program as a way to build my data analytics skills, use it on my daily work and to help me grow professionally and work closely with the teams managing data every day. I'd say it was a success and can;t stop recommending it to everyone. We need more representation from our communities in the places where the data is analyzed, algorithms are being written and business decisions are being made. This is a great way to build knowledge and skills to get us there. Read less

This is a pretty comprehensive program covering all things data science from data visualization, to programming (Python and Pandas), cloud services (AWS), data cleaning, modeling and interpretation and much more. In addition to 13 weeks of lectures by a world-class faculty, you also work on a project with a team of other amazing students in the program, providing opportunity to grow your network of like-minded data gurus, hear great career and life advise from seasoned professionals across the board and be mentored by industry experts. Additionally, there's ample opportunities to be matched for job opportunities and consideration by sponsor companies. It is a rigorous program and a lot of data science newbies like myself will struggle at some point, but if you can just hang in there, it will be worth the learning experience in the end. Data Science for All is the perfect program for people trying to learn data science, improve their data science skills, or get into a new field like myself. The program understands the rapidly changing state of technology and instead of using antiquated lessons, they incorporate real-world data and usage into the program so students get a real-life taste of what being a data scientist is like. The teachers are all stellar, helpful, informative, and amicable, Natesh himself is like no other professor you've had before. DS4A gives students the opportunity to work with other gifted and like-minded people, my team was personally one of the best I've ever worked with. The program provides career fairs and job listings as well as mentors to help both the classwork and projects as well as to give advice on how to get a job and learn in the real world. The only difficulty was that the material could prove to be challenging for a novice like myself, so it definitely requires your full attention and effort. Overall however I cannot recommend DS4A enough, especially for those trying to break into a more lucrative field.   Read less

Correlation One's data analytics course has impressed me so much by its delivery of instruction, relevance to industry, and the diversity of students in the class. It's been a much better learning experience for me than the bootcamp and the traditional education that I paid $$$ for and it's FREE. I was skeptical at first but I became a believer over the course of the class. There were dedicated high-quality instruction, assignments, and teachers/TAs. I recommend this class without reservations. All are welcome, all are challenged to be better and I am a better Data Scientist as a result of taking this class but multiple job opportunities. Program overall was great! 

The individuals here are what is the most motivating because it’s people that have struggled in getting into this field and we all had this collective of wanting to improve ourselves as well as others.

The curriculum is great and intense and the instructors keep you engaged and make learning all of these things really interesting and fun.

You will struggle from the exercises but they will make you better in using the necessary tools to make you a great analyst and data scientist. 

Our voices during hard times were heard and I think that is another thing that makes this program better than most because the directors strive to make this program better

Great experience working alongside professionals passionated to help students. Classes are pretty useful and the online format is not a barrier at all. I highly recommend this program for those who are looking to improve their programming skills. Although no background is needed to be part of the program, I would recommend students to have some basic knowledge of statistics and programming(python). I had a lot of fun with the classes. If you are deciding to take this class, make sure you can commit 100% of your day for the lectures and project meetings, and also around 5 to 10 hours during the week.   Read less

Overall, this was a wonderful course to take! I came in with no experience in data or coding and learned so many new skills. It is definitely tough and requires a lot of time, especially if all of the concepts are new to you, but it is worth the time and energy. 

The Professors, TAs, staff, and mentors are incredibly helpful and walk you through each step when it comes to new concepts and the group project. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.  Read less

 Correlation One's Data Science for All Empowerment course is intensive, both in terms of time and effort required. By the time the course and group projects were in full swing, I easily spent 15 hours/week on the work and in meetings with course colleagues. The cohort exhibited a wide variety of data science experience and the course instructors, TAs, and fellow learners were incredible resources, especially for the participants who are new to data science and Python language. They are also an extremely funny and good-natured group. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is driven and ready to put the time and effort into the experience.  Read less

DS4A is an excellent program! I was honestly skeptical at first about the program since it was new and free, but I can assure you it's well thought of and well designed. Whether you are a beginner or advanced in your data science/ analytics journey, the course offers a lot of benefit and support. Teaching assistants are available to assist with understanding the material and helping you with your group project- which you have to complete to graduate from the course. You are also assigned mentors (who are domain experts in their fields and the project topic you are working on). DS4A really cares about the success of their fellow, so even after graduation, they check on us and send us awesome opportunities (like jobs). I was so blessed to be apart of the Correlation One: DS4A Empowerment Cohort for Fall 2020. The 13-week program was way beyond my expectations.  Each Saturday our professors brought the energy and real-world application of Python and SQL. I will admit; I am no expert at Data science tools but I have a better understanding of how they can be used and can't wait to utilize these tools going forward. The Correlation Team will keep you engaged through guest speakers and lecturers and the ice breaker activities give you a chance to learn more about your cohort (500 for Fall).  
It will be a lot of work depending on your skill-level with Python and Jupiter notebook. Also you spend a lot of time with your small group, and it is imperative that you all set rules of engagement and hold one another accountable for deliverables and your capstone project. You will get a dedicated Teaching Assistant, and ours was great and always kept us on task and pushed us to do more. We also had access to Mentors too. We didn't utilize them as much as we should of but they encouraged us and gave great direction and advice when we needed.

Honestly, I wish I had given more effort to the course but the great part is that I now have a network of like minded scholars that are available to help me in the future. It's a family and Professor Natesh is a true Data Rockstar and the best professor I have had. He keeps you engaged and knows how to read the room to know when to circle back on concepts and point out what we need to grasp. He will instill confidence in you and will have you hype to open your Notebook and get to coding. 

The 13 weeks are tough no doubt, but it goes by fast and next thing you know you will be wondering what do I do without my DS4A family? Read less

Correlation One's Data Science for All/ Empowerment is a life-changing program. It is taught by a variety of the best academics as well as experts in various fields that relate to data science. I got to not just learn information, but also practice as much as I can possibly in a short period of time. It is also unique in its community. The diversity of the program creators, as well as participants, is something I have never experienced anywhere else. The program is immersive and well-designed to help you succeed. The staff will go above and beyond to support you during the program, and after you graduate. The mentorship provided by the program is also another aspect that made my experience excellent. The Data Science For All Program was truly a wonderful experience. This program was great for people who have never had a formal education in Data Science. Correlation One has a vision to make everyone data fluent and removing the barriers to education for minority groups that otherwise would not have the opportunity to join. The education provided by Natesh and all the talented teacher assistants at Correlation One is probably the most exemplary part of this program.
