I spent so much time looking for an affordable Bootcamp that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg and this one was the one. This course really took you through all the important steps of being a UX/UI Designer. With little to no experience, I was able to increase my knowledge and skill for UX/UI Design within the 6-week program. -

When attempting to transition from marketing to user experience after completing a UX design course, I struggled to hear back from any of the jobs I applied to which felt very defeating.
Through Avocademy’s job search program, I learned how to emphasize the right info on my resume, ensure I showcased my best work on my portfolio, and present the right content from my portfolio during job interviews. I was also able to receive mentorship and advice from people who have years of experience in a variety of industries which helped me understand what a real UX job could look like.
Through The Guac Group, I got the opportunity to work with other UX Designers to build a website for a cookie company that needed an effective way for users to purchase products nation-wide. This experience was invaluable since I got to speak to real-life examples on how I made a positive impact on companies through UX design.
Both my experience during the job search program and at The Guac Group made me stand out among applicants and receive more favorable responses throughout my application process, which helped increase my confidence as a beginner in the UX field and eventually land a full-time job as a UX Designer. -

My experience with Avocademy couldn't have been better in helping me learn the foundations needed to make a pivot in my design career. While working full-time, I was able to get through the program at my own pace with access to all kinds of resources that enriched my knowledge of best industry practices. Maca and the other mentors really took the time to get to know their students independently and were very easy to reach. This course has exceeded my expectations in every way. I have been in the graphic design field for over 13 years and realized long ago that as things become more and more digital, print design is dying fast. Applications like Canva are now replacing the need for companies to hire graphic designers.
I started looking into UX/UI a few years ago but was intimidated. The high price of bootcamps sure didn't help. Throughout the pandemic, I was feeling ashamed of myself for letting a year go by without anything new to show for it. I knew I needed to do something fast. I started looking into UX/UI again and reading up as much as I could all over the web & on forums.
I was sitting at my computer one boring afternoon and saw an ad that said, "Want to learn UX without paying $15,000?" I was intrigued. I clicked it and immediately signed up to watch an intro video by Maca (owner/mentor at Avocademy). Every single thing she said hit the pain points I had experienced that stopped me from taking the leap in the past. It was as if she was speaking directly to me. I knew I was seeing this video for a reason. I signed up to do a one on one interview with her to find out more. She answered every question I had and after a few emails back and forth, I decided to go for it.
I can't say enough good things about my experience. Maca provides incredible information throughout the course (I ended up bookmarking so many pages, videos, etc. that will help me in the future). I even learned more about graphic design from her than I did years ago in school. Not only that, but you have direct access to her throughout the course. She also meets with you every few weeks on Zoom to make sure you are on the right track and is available to message on Slack. The Slack channel also provides an opportunity to interact with other students and exchange tips/tricks. Every week guest speakers from all over the tech field are announced and are available on Zoom. There is even a "job opportunity" tab you can take advantage of once you complete certain lessons.
Avocademy is a solid community of passionate, nonjudgemental people from all walks of life, striving to learn and soak in all they can from mentors/speakers that are the best in their field. I'm so glad I saw Maca's video on that boring afternoon because taking the bootcamp at Avocademy is truly one of the best decisions I've made. I wouldn't have wanted to learn UX design anywhere else. -

The UX Bootcamp with Avocademy is perfect for those looking to either broaden their skillset or transition to a new career. While in the bootcamp, I had the opportunity to implement the wireframing skills I learned for a work project with Microsoft. Not only did I build new skills, but my confidence is also boosted and I look forward to new opportunities. Maca is a great mentor whose guidance and expertise make the course well worth the (time and financial) investment. -

I have been considering doing a UX course for a while now. Most courses were way too expensive too consider or too long. After weeks of searching I found Avocademy. And I’m so glad I did. Great price and the perfect length.
It’s is Avery practical course so you jump right into the portfolio project and learn as you go. I am a learn by doing type of person so this was perfect for me. Maca was so helpful in our mentor sessions, and always quick to reply when I reached out on slack.
This was exactly what I needed to jump into my UX career. -

Joining Avocademy is a great deccsion I made. Within 6-8 weeks I was ready with all the tools needed to start on a new career. Maca's one-on-one tutoring sessions were very helpful and the flexibility of the course allows you to complete it at your own time. Maca (my mentor) was great and super helpful throughout the entire process. Always available to help with any questions or critiques that I needed. She even recorded videos for me to show me some tips & tricks in Figma that wasn’t a part of the actual course! Maca is wonderful! The context alone is so helpful for a beginner. Extremely thorough, and the source material is so varied that you're able to process and apply immediately to the activities that follow. The activities aren't just for learning but they also end up making up your entire portfolio piece. All in all, I learned so much, and having Maca available for questions and feedback really built my confidence by the time I was done. I can't wait to reference and apply the material for future projects! -

Avocademy is a great course for anyone looking to start out in UX Design. I like that it is structured, so I can check off my readings and activities along the way. Maca (my mentor) has also been really responsive, and always answers my messages. She is always willing to help, and has even recorded some personal tutorial videos for me to explain how to do something on Figma (the design software). I also feel like her feedback is constructive, professional, and personable, and you can talk to her through video chat, or her new Slack Community group she created (which is also cool to see the other people in the class).
Coming into UX, I was really unsure about what I wanted to do and if I could accomplish it. I graduated college last year, had a career change, and didn't know if UX would be for me. I only recently discovered it, and was very overwhelmed about how to get into it. However, I feel like Maca has been so flexible, which has helped me to not feel overwhelmed. She helps to personalize the course to my needs, and is willing to work with me on my time frame. Also, I feel like the value of the course has been really great, especially when you see the price of other competitors.
I feel like I am learning a lot, and while it is a lot of hard work, it also feels very rewarding. -

While having a busy schedule as a graduate student and working part-time, enrolling in Avocademy was the best decision I have made for transitioning into a UX design career. The curriculum is self-paced so it's so easy to work around your schedule and you learn so much in the process. The unlimited one-on-one mentoring, UX resources, activities, and feedback that were offered gave me confidence in my skills and I feel like I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. I "graduated" in 2022 and have yet to find a job. It seems lots of people have had great experiences, which is awesome, but this is not my experience. Some of the mentors are good, but overall, unhelpful, contradicting one another, and generally left me to feel extremely unsupported. despite taking their advice, at my peak I was applying to 100 jobs a week, with no calls, no interviews, no nothing. When asked why this is, mentors pretty much shrugged their shoulders and said i wasn't applying enough. after 2 years of rejection, stone walls, no one reaching out, 1:1 calls that had me in tears, useless advice, reading about how people were landing six figure jobs after 2 months of looking, and struggling to keep it together through my bad mental health, i was hospitalized for a suicide attempt. coming back, im trying to rebuild the momentum i lost. i no longer have access to huntr, mentor calls, or the career jumpstart the slack channel, so that's great. i recommend looking elsewhere if you want support through trying to find a job, or if you struggle with any kind of mental health issues--in my experience, this program made them exponentially worse. i've accepted that i'm not going to break into this industry, but hopefully this is a cautionary tale for others. -

I recently completed the UX/UI Design course, which was a fantastic experience. From start to finish, the course provided a comprehensive and engaging journey into user experience and interface design.

I did Avocademy UX/UI Foundations last year, and I'd say it was definitely worth it. The course material was split between external readings/videos, and internal instructor videos and readings. This isn't some secret, exclusive UX/UI information that one couldn't learn on their own, BUT what the bootcamp offers is a collaborative environment to learn the material in a structured way. It also sets you up for success if you move on to do Career Jumpstart (which I'm currently in and really loving, definitely worth it especially for the experience working on real world projects in teams with other students). The unlimited mentorship is also great in both courses; not something I took advantage of as much as I should have, but a great resource to have nonetheless. I do think the deadlines are kind of tight in Foundations, especially if you work full time, so you really have to commit to meeting them, but then again real-life design projects are like this too so it's good preparation. I would recommend this course. -

This was the best course/experience I have had! I started my path in tech, learning from Udx, Coursera, and YouTube, as a self-started programmer. I learned a lot but realized I enjoyed much more UX design. I did the same and tried to learn by myself. The thing about design is that if you are alone, your products can suffer from your own bias and preconceptions. That is where Avocademy comes in and helps you get real feedback and guidance. The course has great mentors, real designers with real experience, and they give you constructive feedback, that makes you even more eager to develop your UCD skills. It also helps you build confidence as you learn! Everyone is amazing and helpful, I had great mentoring sessions, even if it was to just talk about the future and expectations. This bootcamp has this differential of guiding you with your technical and soft skills, in building confidence. I can't recommend this Bootcamp enough! -

Avocademy's Career Jumpstart is the perfect program for anyone with a foundation in UX/UI design and wants to either be injected into the workforce or level up their early design career. The program works like this:
1. Learn some advanced UX skills and get specific feedback from mentors.
2. Join the design studio that Avocademy is partnered with and work with other designs on actual UX projects as a contractor; there are mentors and lead designers who walk with you every step of the way. It gives you the chance to experience a real work environment in a digestible size and mitigate mistakes that are part of the learning cycle.
3. A job hunt phase, which includes detailed portfolio creation, LinkedIn optimization, and access to a suite of tools and community to connect with recruiters and employers. They also assist with negotiation and interview preparation. The community here is amazing and enduring, don't underestimate it. -

I had a pretty frustrating experience with Avocademy. Last year when I was in-between jobs, I thought I'd give UX a shot and signed up for Avocademy since everyone seemed to rave about it. However, just two days after the withdrawal deadline, I got this awesome job offer in a completely different field. I knew right away I wouldn't have the time for the course, so I asked for a refund. I mean, come on, I barely missed the deadline and hadn't even started the darn thing! But they were totally inflexible and flat out refused to give me my money back. Instead, they offered me a six-month extension. Six months went by and I was still swamped with work and had zero time for their course. I reached out again, hoping for a refund or another extension, but nope, they shut me down. The whole experience with the Avocademy team left a sour taste in my mouth. They couldn't spare an ounce of empathy or goodwill. It's safe to say I won't be recommending them to anyone.Maca of Avocademy

This bootcamp has been the best decision I have ever made. The Foundations course is great for learning all the basics and applying the concepts to your project. The Carrer Jumpstart is an excellent program where you get to work on real-life projects and learn to be a good team player as a designer. The best part is the academy's support - they set you up for success. Design and career mentorship are always available and they are all super nice! I found a great job within 3 months of applying and I have to credit this to the amazing mentors and the program curriculum. -

after not getting a job with months and months of applying, they just kind of abandon you. they're realistic that you will need to apply to a ton of jobs--which I have, over 2k--but im not getting any interviews or offers or anything. i've expressed my disappointment and frustration, especially since i now have to pay 8k i don't have with a job i was supposedly going to get with this boot camp. it feels incredibly shitty to not only not have a job after all this hard work, but also now owe a ton of money because of false promises.Maca of Avocademy

I had high hopes for this program but it hasnt worked out for me. They screwed me over with not getting me the job guarantee that they advertise. They told me I didn't start the job search within a certain time even though it was out of my control because the projects were being delayed. Basically, you have to do things within a certain amount of time. But what happened when the client delays, or the mentor delays to approve your work. My job search gets delayed which meant I wouldn't get a job guarantee. They scammed me out of my money and didn't really care to be honest.Maca of Avocademy

Avocademy Review - May 2023
For some context, I started the course in May and I'm 70% of the way done. Here are my pros and cons:Pros:-Cheaper than average bootcamp price-video tutorials are easy to watch-while the grading is hard, it produces a strong end product for assignmentsCons:-The grading system is super annoying. You submit your work to a slack channel and a mentor will grade it and return it for revisions. When you resubmit the work, usually another mentor will grade it and return it again with their own opinions on what needs improvement. It's such a slow and inefficient process. Some of the mentors can be total snobs, too. I'd imagine this is what working for a really annoying group of clients feels like.Suggestions for Improvement:I think once you get assigned a mentor you should stick with that one till the assignment is approved. Also, it would be great if the tutorial for the lesson covers every little detail that the assignment is graded on, not just the general gist. Finally, more respect for students' time would be great. Don't be so nit picky on grading to the point that it delays our progress/delays us moving on to the next assignment (For example, I've been on the same assignment for a week with different mentors telling me I have different crucial issues with my assignment lol).In Summary:Avocademy is fine. It's not the godsend course they market it as but it's also not awful. It's more annoying than it needs to be but I think thats what most educational programs are like.Maca of Avocademy

Great experience
I started avocademy to change careers and had a great experience and learned alot from all of the mentors in the program. I started foundations in October of 2022 and am currently about to finish the career Jumpstart course. I highly recommend avocademy for anyone looking into a ux/ui design career. Avocademy allows you to have a pretty flexible schedule and learn at your own pace. -

I always felt supported and there is an amazing community of people in the program. They offer so much assistance and really want each student to succeed. Unfortunately, have had zero interviews in 6 months of applying for jobs with a solid portfolio. I have followed their instructions to a T, added extra projects to my portfolio, applied to hundreds of jobs every month, and have had zero luck finding any job. Avocademy exceeded my expectations. In the foundations part of the program, the curriculum provided a comprehensive overview of UX design principles, methodologies, and tools. The topics covered ranged from user research and wireframing to prototyping and usability testing. Complex concepts were broken down into understandable modules, making them accessible for beginners to follow. The course content was up-to-date, practical, and applicable to real-world design challenges.
They offered regular one-on-one mentorship sessions, allowing me to receive personalized feedback on my projects. The level of support provided throughout the program was excellent. I also valued the emphasis on hands-on experience. We had the opportunity to work on real-world projects, which helped us develop practical skills and build a strong portfolio. The projects were challenging yet manageable.
In addition, Avocademy provided job placement assistance such as resume reviews and interview preparation in their career jumpstart part of the program. Thanks to the guidance and resources from the program, I recently secured a job. The program equipped me with the necessary tools to succeed in the job search. -

Hi! I'd like to clarify our sign up and refund flow. First - when you sign up you agree to the terms and conditions, once you sign up you are sent an enrollment agreement which you are required to read and sign. This enrollment agreement clearly includes your last cancellation date. If you request a refund before your last cancellation date you are able to get a 100% refund. -

After doing lots of research on UX/UI design bootcamps, I chose to go with Avocademy. I am SO HAPPY I did! It was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars. I learned how to complete a project from start to finish, learned all the foundational skills for UX/ UI Design, and ended with a finished project added to a portfolio. One of the things I liked best was having access to mentor support whenever I needed it. Most bootcamps don't offer that, and it is so important. There is a lot to learn about in this field and it is nice to be able to get help from an expert when you have a question or are stuck on a design issue, etc. If you are looking to get into the field of UX/UI, I highly recommend Avocademy! -

I recently completed the UX/UI Design Foundations course with Avocademy and it was a great career change experience! With unlimited mentorship and flexibility, Avocademy offers the basics of UX/UI design to work on your first foundations project! The best part is definitely the mentorship! Many boot camps don't provide feedback or mentorship and Avocademy does just that! Mentor reviews are definitely needed for any boot camp! Job is not guaranteed but they do offer a Career Jumpstart program post foundations! -

I came into the foundation program not knowing a thing, but with the help of the mentors and other staff I've gain a lot of knowledge that I feel can help me with the next steps. I honestly recommend anyone who is interested in a UI/UX bootcamp to apply for this, with many other bootcamps avocademy is not only tremendously cheaper but very well structured. Thank you again avocademy for the such an amazing bootcamp experience.
