You won't regret it
Learning to code is not for everyone. It's a long-term commitment and requires hard work. You need to be able to spare at least 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week for at least 4 to 5 months, including the weekend if needed. You need to be able to prioritize and stick with it. Personal time will suffer, family time will suffer. Programs like Altcademy are great because the structured learning path ensures you are learning concepts in the right order, which removes a lot of unnecessary roadblocks and deadends. Just enough guidance to push you through
My experience at Altcademy has been pretty good. Although I don't get daily face time with my mentor, I can book office hours with him once a week and I can ask him questions on slack. The support is just enough to push me through when I run into a wall. The material is on the beginner to intermediate side, but it is more than enough to prep you to become an entry level web developer. There is a lot of studying, a dozen course projects and a couple final projects at the end that goes beyond beginner level. There is a lot of personal growth and improvement from taking this program. I would recommend this to beginners, but if you could take some free courses first, that will make your time at Altcademy much easier. Hard but rewarding program
Overall, I am happy with my experience at Altcademy. There have been a few sections that have been difficult for me, but everyone was very helpful and supportive. Mentors are very knowledgeable, helped me get past my issues, and usually responded within a few hours of me asking for help. If you are not looking for something fancy, then this is a good place to start learning web development. They have recently launched an AI code debugger, it would have helped tremendously in my early days. I don't think any other bootcamps have this feature yet. Great experience with Altacademy
The Full-stack program at Altcademy is a really good balance between theory and hands-on practice. It provides a solid foundation in web development, and leaves enough flexibility for you to design and build the kind of websites you want to build.
I finished the program with a strong working knowledge of the RoR and React stack. After the program, I joined an internship program at a local company, where I gained a lot of hands-on experience working on the front-end and back-end of a production project. I got a lot out of this program, and I would definitely recommend it to other aspiring web developers.

Full-stack program is worth it
The Full-stack program from Altcademy provides incredible value. Their mentorship is what sold me, and it didn't disappoint. There were many times when I would be stuck on a problem and ask for help, and my mentor would solve the problem quickly and provide me with detailed explanations. They went beyond just helping with coding, they also covered other topics such as job search, resume reviews, mock interviews. It was the full package, and I found their advice to be very helpful. The program is well balanced as they help you build a full picture of how frontend and backend work together. The materials they provided were in depth, easy to read, and provided a lot of practical examples and exercises. The assignments were hard, but not so hard that it would drive someone crazy. Coding is not easy
Coding isn't easy to learn and I can tell they tried their best to make the process less daunting. The mentoring is what keeps me going. Without my mentor's help, I probably would have given up in the first month.
The learning platform is easy to use. It has a calendar schedule to help you keep pace. There is progress tracking and email updates. The questions bank has a lot of resources and is my first goto place when I run into issues.
This is actually my third attempt trying to learn coding. I enrolled in two other online schools before. The first time I gave up because I was lazy and not motivated enough. The second time I was not absorbing the content well, it was a video based curriculum, so I dropped out after two weeks. This time I feel like I will be able to get through as everything seems to be falling in place. I find that I can retain a lot more information with text based content and my mentor's support makes a huge difference.
