Lausanne is the fourth largest city in Switzerland, and is located on the edge of Lake Geneva in the south west of the country. The city is known for hosting the International Olympic Committee. The economy is based around the services industry and the knowledge economy. The city has invested heavily in education and high-tech research, with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology located there. Local tech companies include BestMile, Lunaphore Technologies, Flyability, Gamaya, ScanTrust, Biowatch, Leman Micro Devices, Crossing-Tech, and Novadaq Technologies. Lausanne is the smallest city in the world to have its own subway system with 28 stations.
