The Best Decision I've Ever Made
Read more Read less of Matthew's review
Six months ago I was a down on my luck actor, with no college degree, living off of a rapidly decreasing savings account. Now I am a full-time Web Developer with a salary and benefits at a company I love.
Before going to Sabio, I had messed around with teaching myself to code and freelancing. However, I felt like I had hit a point where I needed some more guidance and direction. I had heard about bootcamps but had assumed they were too good to be true.
Earlier this year, I decided it was time to officially make the switch from to a career in software development. I didn't have the time or money to go to a 4-year program but I knew I needed something to kick my skills up a notch. I started researching bootcamps; despite my doubts. Out of all the bootcamps I looked at, Sabio stuck out. I can't say exactly what it was about Sabio, maybe it was simply a gut feeling, but I definately made the right call.
Roughly two weeks after graduating from the 12-week program, I accepted a full-time job offer. I started last week, and I can say confidently that Sabio more than prepared me for the workforce. The instructors are extremely knowledgable. They never hold your hand but will teach you how to find the answers yourself; which is how the real world works. And the fact that you get to work with a real-world startup through the program is a huge deal. (no other bootcamp I know of does this).
If you're considering a bootcamp, I strongly encourage you to look into Sabio. It changed my life. If you really commit yourself to the work, the results can be truly miraculous.

I remeber being in your shoes reading these reviews... Thinking to my self, full of doubt, these can't be true. Why isn't everyone else doing this? And let me tell you most of these reviews are true, because what happened to me is a true story. And to be honest, the reason why not everyone does it, is simply because it is not for everybody. Let me just begin by telling you that the way SABIO does it is really, safe for you as a student. Because they first hold warm up classes and then you take a test to see if you can get into a cohort. And trust me its not just a sham I saw people that had to take it multiple times. So if you pass ,it means the instructors believe you have what it takes to be a dev. Now once you get into the classes, the instructors are with you literally halft the day, feeding you constant information and helping you along the way. The awesome thing is that in this school you get to work on an actual product as a team, its literally your first job as a dev. Well if you see it that way anyways. What I am saying is this school gives you every single thing you need to be sucessful, that can be given by a thirdparty. I mean they literally spoon feed you the best Industry knowledge, and even coach you and give you motivation. HOWEVER, your ultimate sucesss is without a doubt up to YOU. I was lucky enough to be in a cohort full of motivated competitive individuals, who all suportted each other. We would stay late until they kicked us out, and even on sundays we would meet up, me and another guy at the cafeterias to continue grinding, and trying to out-do the other. It turns out this paid off, we were so prepared, we both landed consulting jobs right out the bat. I got mine literally like 2 weeks after, the cohort. After a few failed interviews I kept listening to the advice of Gregorio and Liliana and kept honing my craft. and the rest is history now...I Know have been through a few Jobs and go head to head with graduates from major CS schools. But of course I also had a an undergrad degree , and always kept my mind sharp. what I am saying is when it comes to web development, this school teaches you the best standards, in the best way. 100 % recommend if you are not lazy, have a brain, and are fully motivated to become a software developer. Best wishes, and happy coding :)

By far the best bootcamp to attend in SoCal if you are trying to make a career shift into coding. The reason I'd recommend this place over others such as Hack Reactor or Coding Dojo, is because this place trains you like you are working in a real life environment. You are assigned to a start up during your bootcamp and are responsible for creating a live working product for that entrepreneur. I think this is a game changer.

It's hard to imagine that 6 months ago I was in an entirely different line of work and now I write code for a living, all thanks to Sabio. I was at a stage in my career where my earnings potential was limited due to not having enough hard skills on my resume. I decided to learn programming and found my way to Sabio's prework, which solidified my interest in programming along with the school itself. Before cohort started, I mentally prepared myself for what I thought would be the toughest 3-months of my life. The actual cohort was tough at times and I did struggle here and there, but I didn't realize how much I would enjoy all of it. If you push yourself and put in the hours, I believe Sabio does a great job at preparing you to be employable as a developer. My recommendation to anyone considering going to Sabio is to check out their prework. I think it's a good place to get a feel of what you'll be getting into in terms of Sabio as a school and programming as a career choice. And if you do decide to attend Sabio, I highly recommend my instructor Dan in the .NET course.

I can't say enough great things about Sabio and my experience in their program! I looked at a lot of different courses in LA and on the west coast, even taking part-time classes at other similar schools before starting Sabio. No one else is doing what they're doing. Seriously! I'm a few months out of the program and I still have zero regrets about my decision to trust Sabio with my career change.
Sabio prepares you for a JOB! Instructors have years of industry experience, know engineering best practices and teach you how to be a great developers. You work on a real application, use new technologies and build real features with a team! The professional training I received outside of just learning to code was unexpected, but may have been the best part! It enabled me to feel confident that I could walk into any new team / office / project and start contributing right away.
My instructor, John Lee, was amazing, and really took the time to mentor and challenge each and everyone one of us. Everyone on the Sabio team cares about your success (the alumni are the same!). Gregorio, Liliana and all the instructors go out of their way to make sure you have the tools you need to succeed. The community is truly unique!
My previous professional experiences were in non technical roles with a non STEM degree. Now I'm a Software Engineer at a job I'm loving! I couldn't have done it without them! GO TO SABIO!

I always wanted to be a software developer, and Sabio made that dream of mine come true. Just like you I read reviews here and found out about this amazing community. Liliana and Gregorio the founders of Sabio are two of the nicest people I have ever met. Meeting Gregorio assured me that this is unlike any other bootcamp and that they really care about me and my success as a developer. My instructor Dan is one of the most knowledgable, and experienced software developers, and technology specialists on the planet. I am working now as a software engineer and I still benefit from everything that Dan taught us during the 3 months that he was our teacher. At my current job I was able to incorporate multi-threading in my software reducing average run-time from 40 minutes to 5 minutes thanks to Dan's teachings. There was basically no stopping me from exploring different aspects of software development. What you'll experience in Sabio is going to be life-changing. I received 2 software engineering job offers in 2 weeks following my graduation thanks to Gregorio and Liliana's helpful advice, and guidance. The community is there to support you. Every instructor I met helped me take steps toward my goal of becoming a valuable software engineer. Thank you Gregorio, Liliana, Dan, Hector, Danny, John, Victor, and everyone I met at Sabio. You guys ROCK! Wanna learn how to code? You have to go to Sabio.

Not What They Appear To Be

Sabio does what it says on the tin: they'll teach you to code and(mostly) help you get a job in the field. At least it worked for me. I would take everything they say with a grain of salt though as their talent for marketing far exceeds their ability to deliver on those marketing promises.
For half of my cohort, C44 which graduated in December 2017, have yet to find work. That's a 50% employment rate for *my* peers(I hear it was better in the past). I would be extremely leary of Sabio's reported outcomes as they tend to cherry pick what they report. As a result, their CIRR stats are misleading.
I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that THEY HIRE STUDENTS AS INSTRUCTORS. I was shocked when I found this out and it seems that Sabio works really hard to keep this fact buried. It clearly states in their marketing that they don't do this however a student who graduated from my cohort last December with zero professional experience is now teaching Sabio's course on Blockchain.
My experience with Sabio was pretty miserable: the founders harassed me when I pushed them to allow students to meet instructors prior to starting classes, so much so that I had to involve third parties to protect my interests and hold Sabio's founders accountable. Furthermore, when I began classes at Sabio in the summer of 2017 they were still using instructional materials from 2014, including teaching AngularJS 1.x(AngularJS is dead, Angular 2+ is still relevant). The instructional materials were riddled with spelling and grammatical errors and were very clearly copy/pasted from one module to another as the same typographical errors and verbage appeared in multiple lessons.
I hear from older Sabio alumni that you used to be able to recommend other alumni based on the fact that they attended Sabio, however that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Remember, if you're a veteran using the GI Bill there is essentially zero barrier to entry. Just show up with your money and Sabio will take it, whether you have the aptitude to be a professional programmer or not. As a result, there were an alarming number of students who graduated the program unable to solve rudimentary code challenges encountered in interviews(fizz buzz, fibonacci, palindromes, etc). I feel bad for those students because Sabio should have dismissed them when they weren't meeting the standard instead of leading them to believe they could succeed in the industry.
It sounds like Sabio was really setting the standard back in their hayday, but now it seems like they're struggling to scale up and the quality of the program has deteriorated noticeably. I would advise anybody looking at attending a coding bootcamp to look elsewhere.

Jordan,
I do not understand what has transpired since you graduated at the end of December 2017 to make you this upset with our program. I am going to clarify a couple of false claims you made in your post, primarily, that 50% of your cohort is unemployed. This is 100% inaccurate. There is only person that has not found full-time employment, and he moved outside of Southern California, where a majority of our employer contacts are located. Every other person is working or is a tech entrepreneur or a student, your claims are false. Also, you have mentioned on our internal slack channel that you were super happy and grateful to the Sabio Community because all of your reliable job leads came from the community you are now trashing. You work at a job opportunity that was posted on our internal slack jobs channel, and the entire sabio nation gave you a positive referral. I hope that you seek assistance for whatever is ailing you; however, Sabio did nothing but provide you with support and education for 6 months, and for your 3 months while you were searching for a job. May you find comfort and solace and move forward in a positive light.
Lastly, your CSC 1010 instructor was Jitin, and your bootcamp instructor was Dan, both are industry professionals and not Sabio Grads. We have two Sabio grads, Danny and Hector that help during the on-boarding and prework / week zero part of the program that is instruction we provide at very little to no-cost PRIOR to the cohort beginning. Gripping about getting additional assistance before you start the coding bootcamp from Danny and Hector is completely unreasonable and is not tantamount to your erroneous statement "They use grads to teach". That is categorically false.
You got onto our community slack and began to disparage all our community members; therefore, you were removed from slack. I think that is the reason why you came onto this review site to write your review, because we refuse to allow you to belittle and abuse our community members.
You graduated at the end of December 2017 and you have been employed as a software engineer for months now, it is time you move on to greener pastures, and posting on this review site from your cushy tech job is really unnecessary. -

Get out what you put in!

I'm a Marine vet who went through the Sabio via Antioch. Let me start off by saying, just like anything else in life you WILL get out what you put in! A little background about myself; I studied computer science for 1 year, dropped out, joined the Marines but never stop learning about web development. The key to getting the most out of this program is to be aggressive in your learning and never let up. It WILL be exhausting but you have to fight through the because the short time you have with your cohort and instructor really will fly by.
If it's not apparent by the time you finish pre-work, you should know that this intensive training is meant for you to LEARN how to solve complex web development problems on your OWN. The instructors are there to guide you through the process, NOT give you the solution because the truth is there are countless possible solutions you simply want to learn how to figure out solutions to problems you will encounter will writing software.
Like most great products or services there will always be a need for improvements but that doesn't mean you won't learn EXACTLY what you need to land a job as a web developer, software engineer or software developer. The single most important part of this whole experience is YOU. When they say you need to put in 70hrs a week, that's exactly what it means! No exceptions! I really can't stress this enough. It's possible and will definitely show when it's time to go out and find jobs. You’ll feel confident in knowing you learned the most sought after skills in the industry.
Ok the part you've probably been waiting for. What were my results? Well after job hunting for 9 days I was able to land a job on the LAST day of my cohort for the salary I requested, which is well above the average you see posted here.
There is no magic tricks to this program and the results speak for itself. If you're looking for a exceptional software engineering bootcamp. Sabio is definitely the way to go

Enrolling in Sabio was a great career decision. I enrolled in Sabio knowing little about programming. Their prework gave me a good enough foundation to begin cohort, which is where I received the bulk of my training. Having a great instructor makes all the difference, and mine was terrific with over a decade of real industry experience (I lucked out, I heard he recently left). I landed a good job two months after graduation. Ultimately, you get what you put in, so give it your all if you decide to join this program.

The Perfect Launch Pad for Your Career in Tech

Before Sabio I was a college grad with a Business Degree working in a job doing the same tasks day in and day out. I knew this was not a Job that would move me anywhere anytime soon. My girlfriend was in a marketing position and ended up making the transition into a front end developer role and the work she brought home looks really interesting to me and I have always had an interest in technology. I had experience building PC's and thought it would be a good idea to get into the software side of tech. We both decided to make the journey into Sabio at the same time and I quit my Job and my girlfriend took a "leave of absence", she never ended up going back to that company.
We started the course and were pleasantly surprised by how much we were learning. The environment was almost identical to that of a real world development team. They bring in real world Product Owners and that experience was probably the most helpful part of the whole course. 1 month after graduating I got an offer for 65 and negotiated up to 73 with a review at 6 months in hopes of seeing a raise to 80k upon satisfactory performance.
Sabio helps with the interview process and is an incredible resource even after graduating as I come across real world issues at my current position I can always count on them to help me through the Sabio Slack channel.
I worked my ass off to learn as much as I could during the course and you really need to do this in order to get the most out of it. If you just sort of do the minimum you will have a hard time once you are job searching. Sabio gives you the tools and in order to be successful you need to use those tools as much as possible. Having a natural curiosity is a huge bonus and I would say if you are just in it for the money this career may not be for you. Sabio can increase your salary without a doubt but to truly thrive in this field you need that curiosity and drive to learn and code on weekends.Don't just copy any piece of code without really knowing what it does. You are only hurting yourself in the long run. You will be paying a good amount for the course but I can tell you without a doubt that it is worth it, however, you must put the work in. The sabio community is incredibly understanding and the instructors really care about each and every student. If you have some personal issues you need to take care of they will be fine with you taking a day to work from home, as long as you don’t short yourself you will learn more than you could ever think possible in a 3 month period.
Best of luck to you all in your endeavors and I hope to see you in the Sabio Slack channel. -

When researching bootcamps, extension courses, and computer science degrees, information can be endless. There's so many options. You will hear over and over again that 'you dont need a CS degree to code'. So that's probably why you're reading this. Bootcamps vary and not all have a strong curriculum. After months of research, I found Sabio. I went to the Info Session they had and they answered a lot of questions. But I didn't care about their cool website and fancy graphic portfolio about statistics and numbers. I wanted to know about the graduates. That's when I did more research on the students. I looked at linkedIn accounts and noticed a consistent quality throughout all the profiles. I finally decided to begin pre-work and from the first week I knew that Sabio's instructors were top notch. I felt completely comfortable asking as many questions as needed from either the students or instructors. I noticed immediately that the environment that Gregorio and Liliana fostered was positive and extremely motivating.
Throughout my experience at Sabio I saw results. Which is my main point of all of this. I felt myself catching on, maybe not as fast as others, but I felt myself learning the material bit by bit. I came from trying to teach myself through online tutorials. I found myself getting frustrated because I had no formal direction and the internet is FULL of resources, it can become overwhelming. Sabio provides focus and teaches you the building blocks which will lead you on a clear path of understanding programming languages.
Sabio training is hard. It's supposed to be. Anytime you feel comfortable in this environment, you are not moving forward. Gregorio and Liliana said that cohort training is meant to simulate an actual working development environment. Code all day, reviews, research, etc. That's exactly how my current job as a Programmer is structured. You will learn more than just coding as Sabio. They prepare you for job searching, resume building, interview prep, team interaction, project presentation, explaining your code, the list goes on. The best part about that is it doesn't end when you finish cohort. You will have access to resources, the community, and the instructor’s way beyond your graduation date. And trust me, you will need it.
I encourage anyone to reach out to Sabio for more information. Go check out their info session. And if you want to do what I did, you can find me on linkedin and send me a message. Trust me, I was hesitant to do ANY kind of 'dev bootcamp'. I'm so glad I chose the right one!

Prior to joining Sabio, I was an account manager in the warehouse logisitics business. At the time I felt like I have already capped out at where I am in my career. Wanting more for myself, I decided to enroll in the Sabio program after a referral from an fellow graduate.
I had no coding/computer science experience prior to Sabio and after the 12 week program, I was able to land a job in a company I'm truly passionate about.
Aside from the curriculam, I think what sets Sabio apart is the amount of love and care Gregorio and Lililiana provides for their students. They make you feel like family and are always there when you need assistance. With that in mind they have carefully selected instructors, who are not only very experienced in the development field but also embodies the same amount of care for their students.
The best part about Sabio is that it doesn't just end when the curriculum ends, the instructors still provide you with brown bag lessons weekly to keep you engaged in coding, there is also a job board where alumnis post jobs for all the job seekers. It's a community that offers you with endless support. Even after my program have ended, my instructors were still helping me with any questions I may have whether it was about coding or job search related. Shout out to Mike and Dan, I couldn't have done it without you both.
To conclude my review, I just want to say investing in yourself is the best investment you'll ever make. With the help of Sabio, you're that much closer to where you want to be.

Let Sabio make you a beast!

Background: U.S Military Veteran(U.S. Navy), I.T.(Desktop Support) 5+ yrs, B.A. in Economics @NIU, tried coding w/ Code Academy, FreeCodeCamp, w3schools.com, eventually realized an in-person coding Bootcamp would be a lot better investment of time(unless you want to waste years learning on your own) and money.
I moved to Los Angeles, CA from Chicago, IL to look for programs in software development, initially thinking to move to the Bay Area/ Silicon Valley, I found a great program in Sabio. Started the program in Feb ended in Early August, took the course in Culver City, CA, and looked for a job for about 3 months, before deciding to leave L.A.'s job market to hit a slightly better one in Denver(top job market in the country!...supposedly), I found a job a week after moving to Denver making $30,000($73k) more than my last job in Jan 2017 as a Desktop Support Technician($40k) at Chevron in El Segundo, CA. I now work for the Department of Interior, in Denver, CO as a Software Developer. So yea, its real, but I worked late hours coding, asked for lots of help, researched a ton, and put a lot of effort into programming. The better news is not even days after I got my offer, I was able to use the training I learned in Sabio to leverage that offer to get HIGHER offers from other companies once I mentioned I had an offer on the table. Next thing you know I had offers for $85k and $90k! SabioLA training has worked wonders on not only making me a phenomenal developer, developing in almost any language due to the fundamental skills they taught me, but I also now know how to effectively deal with HR and recruiters with some of the biggest companies in the world. Sabio even has connections with Microsoft due to the quality of the developers they put out. We had personal mentors from companies like Github, Twitter, and Facebook(React Team), to name just a FEW rock stars in the software world who personally came to Sabio to give us advice and pointers.
So if the perfect rating doesn't show you already this should be a no-brainer, and your still skeptical that maybe we're paid or something to write a review, just know Sabio helping me make $75k(starting entry level), to possibly pulling in potential offers to $95k, writing this little review is the LEAST I can do to thank them for making me a beast in software development.
Advice for you in the bootcamp, take a deep breath, prework isn't the same as the cohort, ask questions when you don't know not only from the teacher but also maybe more advanced students(don't be shy), it won't be easy or a cake walk, but nothing worth it is, trust the process and good luck in becoming a rock star developer.
Oh, some advice, though I don't know if Sabio would approve. If your having a tough time finding a job, look into relocating to job market that might have a little less competition for .NET jobs like Denver, CO, D.C., Chicago, Seattle, etc. You'll be surprised at how much .NET developers are needed outside of L.A., found a job in Denver, CO in 1 week, and that's with me not moving that quickly.

I was recommended to Sabio from a family member and decided to attend an info session which confirmed that this was the bootcamp I wanted to go to. I was at a plateau career wise and wanted to start making the big bucks. My job absolutely sucked. As one of the few females in the tech department, I was not getting the respect and recognition I deserved and was ready to try something new and truly excell in the industry. The teachers at Sabio are absolutely extraordinary, not only do they know what they are doing, but they are true mentors: kind, patient, and passionate. My instructor has made such an impact on my career and I can truly call him my mentor. Think about your favorite teachers in the world, now multiply that by 20 and now you get Sabio instructors. Also getting to be around a bunch of awesome and strong women in tech was refreshing!
Learning to code isn't easy, its not just simple HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS anymore, this is serious programming which can be scary at first. Sabio gives you the tools, guidance, and motivation you need to be a successfull programmer in any environment. You aren't working on silly tic tac toe projects. You code on a real web application, in a real work environment as a team, not as a study group in a class. Anyone can do this if they really want to.
Additionally, they don't just care about how well you are doing in class, but they truly care about what's going on in your personal life and give you support and advice if you need any. Not only are the teachers great, but so is the community. You will continue to get full support well after you have graduated from alumni, teachers, and Liliana and Gregorio themselves.
In terms of the curriculum, I was very impressed. It was structured in a very intelligent way so that you really can succeed. The money is completely worth it, I got a job within 2 weeks after the program finished. The company I am now working for is a completely different stack. Sabio has given me the tools I need to be a successful programmer in any language and I am doing well already!
I increased my salary by 16.67 % and I am making above average out of the program.
If you are really looking for something to change your life, give you the confidence and skills you need to make great money, be successfull, or anything else you want out of your future. This is the place.

Junior Software Programmer

Less than a year ago, I decided to fully change my career around from international business to go into the tech industry. I randomly stumbled upon Sabio and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I went from zero knowledge of any programming, development, or even coding in general for that matter to being hired as a junior software programmer. Sabio takes the time and effort for those with zero experience like myself and taking the necessary steps to prepare them for what it’s like to be a developer. With the free online courses to Pre-Work training to Lab work, all were extremely helpful to get my feet wet. Once in the boot camp, working with a team of 12 and 1 instructor made the environment of working on a project realistic. Having the guidance of a very knowledgeable instructor, helped in creating solutions for any problem or questions that had presented itself. Even instructors from other cohorts were more than happy to help with anything.
I was not passionate about international business and the hardest part about switching careers is what to switch to and then making that leap. I am truly grateful for Sabio and I have finally found a career path I am passionate about. If you really put your mind into it, you really can get the most out of everything that Sabio has to offer.

Learning to be a true developer through Sabio was a rewarding journey, and I’m honestly still in awe at how much I’ve gained through it. This whole experience was just a confirmation that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
Earlier this year while deciding if I wanted to go back to school, I kept coming across articles and testimonies about how anyone could learn coding, how career changers were able to thrive in development jobs, and how the tech industry needed more women. My curiosity got the best of me as I started realizing how enjoyable the free lessons on Codeacademy were, leading to me doing hours of research into coding bootcamps and happening upon Sabio and their stellar reviews. I lived in Dallas, TX, and this was a huge commitment and move for me to pursue a new chapter in my life. But I flew out to California and was sold after talking with instructors, current students, and fellows that Sabio connected me with. They were down-to-earth and offered nothing but encouragement and confidence that it would be worthwhile – and they were completely right.
Sabio stood out for the fact that they have a rich network of developers, and to have those resources, connections, and advice available to you is priceless. It is not a typical classroom environment – you work day in and day out for the experience of working on a real project with a real team of your cohortmates, learning on the fly. The vast amount of knowledge and the application of that knowledge that you gain in this “bootcamp” environment is no joke – and I wouldn’t have had the discipline or mentorship to learn everything I know now on my own without Sabio.
The stars aligned for me because I personally couldn’t have asked for a better experience or outcome. The OC campus was nice and in a convenient location right across from the bustling Fashion Island. I was grouped with awesome colleagues in my cohort, with whom I had an environment of support and camaraderie as we encouraged each other to keep pushing forward those twelve weeks. I’m indebted to our instructor Jeremy, whose patient mentorship and insane knowledge and experience got us to where we are today. He’s a great teacher and a great guy, and it was uncanny how he knew how to answer all of the questions I had that I didn’t even know how to ask. Vic, the other instructor at the OC campus, was also always so supportive as far as career advice, interview prep, and guidance went.
I currently call myself a developer consultant, which on many days seems surreal, given that I knew nothing about programming at the beginning of this year. At my current company, I came to appreciate how well I was prepared for my position in many ways: working and communicating with a team, knowing how to resourceful enough to solve a problem or produce a solution, and thinking like a developer. The classroom setting itself emulated the environment I am in daily and all the skills I learned in that setting have contributed to my confidence in my growth as a dev and the growth of my career.
It’s possible. If you want a career in development, my advice is to go all in and invest in yourself. If you’re going to commit to Sabio, you’ll be given the right resources to succeed – but it’s up to YOU how effectively you utilize those resources. The most important thing to be conscious of is that there is nothing magical about this process – your success is directly correlated to how hard you work, how much time you put in to understand your craft, and how much you put yourself out there and ask questions. If you keep focused, keep a positive attitude (which is so key when things get rough!), and have fun with the process, this could be the most rewarding decision you make for yourself.

Overall I had a positive experience attending Sabio. My studies began early February when I joined and started the pre-work which is a preliminary pre-requisite to the 12-week boot camp program. I found the pre-work challenging and rewarding because it laid the foundation to becoming a software developer.
I chose to start the boot camp later because of personal reasons and they had me enroll in labs to keep me from getting rusty in between the end of pre-work to the beginning of the program. I found the labs to be very helpful and learned a lot from the instructor.
When the boot camp began it was challenging from the beginning to the very end, but that’s why they call it a boot camp because it’s supposed to be challenging. I was in a cohort of 10 others working on a project that was fun and to see develop into a full functioning app was rewarding.
The instructors were experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated to their craft. There was a queue system, and if you needed extra help you would post a question on a trello card and drag it into the queue. Although, the instructors would have the answer they would challenge you to figure it out yourself and come up with the solution. The overall staff was also wonderful and professional and well organized.
After I got a job last month, I learned that more than half of my co-workers were Sabio alumni. The hiring manager liked the boot camp candidates and being that we’re all from Sabio tells a great deal about the quality of the program. If you’re thinking of attending a great coding boot camp that you can learn and grow professionally than Sabio is for you.

Become a Professional Software Developer
Read more Read less of Jay's review
Are you tired of wasting your skills and talents and not getting paid what you are worth? Do you wonder how all those apps and websites that you visit everyday come together? Are you passionate about technology and want to delve deep into the rabbit hole that is the vast world of software development? Then look no further than Sabio. I'll split up the journey into sections and provide reasons for why Sabio is the best.
Before you begin...
Do your research into what this program is. It is not a 4 year comp-sci degree replacement and Sabio's CTO, Gregorio, would never purport that. However, if you go to Sabio's info session, you will see that Gregorio present a no BS attitude that states that if you work hard, then you will become a fully-fledged software developer.
The key difference between this bootcamp and others is that you get an extremely high level of instruction from Senior Developers who have an average of 10-20+ years of experience working as professionals in the field. Look into other programs and ask them who will be in the battlefield with you while you are struggling to learn intensely high & low level concepts. If their answer is a 1 or 2 year alumni of their program with NO experience in the professional field, then be wary of what they're selling you. As bright as these alumni most likely are, they most likely don't know what it's like to deploy an enterprise-level web app that has thousands, and sometimes millions, of visitors daily, whereas Sabio instructors do.
If you are worried about outcomes, take a look at https://cirr.org/ which Sabio is a member of. It's a testament to the strength of the program if they are upfront about their outcomes which are verified by an independent third party. If you look at the other names on the list, you will see other big-shot bootcamps so you know you're going to be joining an elite and select group of people.
Prework
Get ready to code about 15-20 hours a week learning the basics of web development(HTML/JavaScript/CSS). You will sometimes feel lost, but know that Sabio has great prework instructors who will support you 100% of the way. If you don't do your work and are a lazy bum, you are going to be held accountable. You will also be enrolled for labs before you begin the actual program which will show you how the request-response life cycle works within a web application along with RESTful API conventions. This stage will take 1-2+ months and will provide crucial growth for the upcoming full-time bootcamp.
Full Stack Web Dev Course
You will be challenged. Period. It's the instructor's job to do so. Whether you have experience in the industry or not, be ready to be confronted with real-world programming problems that will let you appreciate how much there is to learn out there. You will not be working on a dinky project that is going to be a small demo for you to put on github. Instead, you will be working on an enterprise-level web application with the most relevant/modern programming libraries and frameworks that the web has to offer. You will also learn best-practices and soft skills necessary for becoming a great dev. If you go to some job board and search "web developer" and look at the technologies that all these companies want, expect to learn most, if not all, of those listed items.
You will bond with your peers throughout the project and make amazing friends that will last you a lifetime. These peers will become excellent software devs in their own right and you will increase your own worth as a programmer as you learn from them, code alongside them, and overcome bugs together which will fine-tune your craft.
You will be led by a senior developer who has 10+ years of professional experience building scalable products for well-known companies in the tech world. This senior dev will be with you in the trenches for more than 8 hours/day for 5 days a week. My instructor was absolutely amazing and there was literally 0 questions that he could not answer whether they were small problems, algorithms from Google interviews, or even questions about implementing load-balancers on websites that get millions of hits per day and transfering hundreds of gigabits of data per second.
The last few weeks of the program are dedicated to getting you ready for the work-force, which is a whole different type of grind Sabio trains you throughout the whole bootcamp with mock interviews as well as giving you the tools and information necessary to ace those interviews.
Expect to put in about 60-70 hours/week for 12 weeks. Monday through Saturday.
Life after Sabio
Sabio provides 5 years of professional training after the bootcamp is done. These training sessions aren't your "grab pizza let's have a mixer" deals. You will meet devs from some of the biggest names in tech and you will learn the most cutting edge technology, that the world has to offer. You will also be able to glean and absorb knowledge about the plethora of different fields you can get into as you expand your skills as a software developer.
Lastly...
Your success solely depends on you. Sabio will teach you and give you the tools. They will back you up 100% and encourage you to become to the best version of yourself. They want you to have far-reaching goals that will challenge and shake the tech world. And most of all, they want you to be happy with your new life as a software developer.
As for myself, I was offered my first job as a fulltime software engineer 3 weeks after the immersive program ended and I signed onboard to another position 2 weeks later after realizing (through consulting Sabio alumni and staff) that I was worth a lot more than what the first job was offering. In many of my interviews, the interviewers are impressed with the amount of knowledge I display even though I only have a few months of programming experience. Some have explicitly stated that I know how to implement solutions that CS grads are not aware of. I have been to tech meetups and devdays and I have been able to hold my own around tech professionals who have decades of experience in the field. I love to talk about code and the bigger implications that technology has on our lives as we strive onwards into the 21st century.
If you are a good dev, then your skills speak on your behalf. And trust me, Sabio trains elite software engineers.

Like a lot of us seeking to change our careers and our lives, I found myself stuck and unhappy with my current situation. Going back to college was not a viable option for me, so I looked around for a career booster that I would actually enjoy. I came across coding bootcamps and began doing online courses to see if it was the right fit for me. I enjoyed it and decided to pursue coding and eventually found Sabio. The bootcamp itself was definitely not a walk in the park- it was difficult, challenging, and sometimes made me feel like I wanted to give up.. DON'T! What made up for it was the potential to change my life and with all the right people around me going through the same thing, we keep on pushing. The instructors are super knowledgeable and the community is awesome and super helpful.
My only recommendation is to start coding as soon as possible. Gain as much knowledge as you can before starting the bootcamp. There are many resources available online that can help you get started. Don't just watch and read, but actually code! This is an ever-changing career and you never stop learning. Do some research on the available stacks (MEAN vs. .NET) to help you decide what would be best suited for you. Make the commitment and invest in yourself!

I would recommend Sabio to anyone wanting to become a professional developer. I came in with no prior coding experience and limited knowledge of computers. I switched careers and I'm now making more money than I ever thought I would. I have great benefits and I get to enjoy weekends off for the first time. My instructor was awesome and the mock interviews really help you gain confidence and prepare you for the industry. The bootcamp was practical as we spent most of our time building a useful real world application instead of diving into theory all day. There seems to be a lot of pretentiousness involved with bootcamps and computer science in general, but you won't see that at Sabio--the entire team is very down to earth and values diversity. Gregorio has worked his way up from the bottom and he's a very inspiring connection to have.
To future applicants, I would highly suggest coding as much as you can prior to starting pre work. Try to fall in love with code and you'll have a much more enjoyable experience. Sabio is a booster and will take your knowledge to the next level, but you have to be dedicated and enjoy solving problems. Sabio doesn't guarantee you a job, but you get out what you put in. You'll get a job if you stick with it! I also suggest doing a lot of research to determine which stack interests you the most (MEAN or .NET). You can use job trends (https://www.indeed.com/jobtrends) on Indeed to see what is in demand. Do searches to compare stuff like C# and node. Coding is hard and my cohort was extremely stressful, but it gets easier and easier the more you practice. Don't let the stress get to you! Stay positive!

Real Projects, Excellent Instructors, Current Technology, what else you can ask for?

I used to be a software developer in the 2000s, and this year I decided to be back to technology. At the beginning I took some free online classes but quickly learn that it will not work for me, I needed an instructor to make questions to and a curriculum to cover a lot in short period of time. So I started to look for solutions and evaluate few boot-camps; I saw excellent reviews from Sabio and what I liked most was during class you have to develop a real project, a fully functioning website from back to front end.
I can say that it has been one of the better decisions of my life and it totally exceed my expectations. Why?
- The instructor has more than 15 years of real experience in software development, and he was totally willing to answer any question and since I had experience he was challenging me to learn more stuff. He has become a mentor for me and today after the class end, he is still answering my questions.
- The project was a real website that we developed, doing the back-end in SQL, the middle tier in C# and the front in AngularJS. We developed using the standards and procedures of a real company. That helps a lot when you are looking for a job.
- The support from Sabio founders, other instructors and the staff is great. They have developed a lot of tools, procedures, and a network to help you during the project, looking for jobs and after you found a job.
- It was a small class and my classmates were incredible, very professional, responsible, great persons, and I am sure our friendship will continue for many years.
The result:
-I am working as a senior software developer with 3 of my classmates converting a website from Classic ASP to MVC/AngularJS. The company, the project and salary are great and we are using everything that we learn on Sabio.
Conclusion:
It was not easy and during class I usually dedicated more than 65 hours by week but it was totally worth it and I recommend it to everybody that it is serious about becoming a software developer or like my case want to get back and learn the current technology.

Sabio is the Best!

I am a father of two young children and choosing which coding bootcamp to attend was an incredibly difficult decision. After a couple months of in depth research and visiting other bootcamps. I made the decision that Sabio was the best choice for me and my family. Now having finished the program I am 100% confident I made the right choice. Sabio has provided me so much knowledge, guidance, and support throughout the program. Even after graduating they continue to give me so much support and resources to find the best job and continue growing my skills.
Gregorio and Liliana the founders, show that they truly care about you and will always be completely honest. This honesty is very refreshing. With other bootcamps I visited I always felt like I was just being told what I wanted to hear. Plus NOT a single other bootcamp stated that they help or offer additional support after completing the boot camp. Sabio is the only boot camp I know of that will give so much help during and after the boot camp.
Going into the boot camp I had very little knowledge of coding. I had taken a few classes on codecademy. Sabio has turned me into a full stack web developer within 3 months. Don't get me wrong, it took a lot of hard work and discipline on my part.
The Sabio instructors and staff are amazing! I had the great opportunity of having Gregorio as my instructor. I'm so thankful that I did. The number one thing I loved most about him is his positive mentality. There were so many times during the course of 3 months that I was assigned a task completely out of my comfort zone. Many of the times I doubted I was even capable of completing the task but not matter how much I doubted myself Gregorio's confidence in me always pushed me to overcome roadblocks and grow as a developer. After finishing the program I feel incredibly prepared and I am proud to say I am now employed as a Front End Web Developer for an amazing company.
Thank you Sabio!

Look, I was in your position 6-8 months ago. Looking for a new career in an industry that seemed impossible to break into. I didn't have a CS degree nor the knowledge to differentiate a <div> from a <span>. But after months of hard work and dedication to my future I've found myself on my second job in the industry making 80k a year. Don't get me wrong. This is no cake walk. You will doubt yourself, the process, your life even. But if you have the grit and determination to make a positive change in your life; this program will give you more than enough tools and support to make this change very possible. Simply believe in yourself, make the jump, commit the time, and the future is yours. I was just as doubtful as you but the program really works. This is no BS. Make the commitment and you'll never look back again.
PS Gregorio is the man. So much post-graduation job support. It's truly unreal. Mike is pretty killer too ;-)

I have always been interested in computer programs in general, but did not begin to become academically aware of these programs until senior year of high school. I was enrolled in a class that covered the coding language of C++ during my senior year for two months before having to drop it because I was enrolled in too many college classes while in high school. Upon graduating from Berkeley High School and becoming a student at Santa Barbara City College, my incentive toward reaching my goals in computer science seem to become unreachable due to the rigorous requirements presented to attain the undergraduate degree. In search of how I could adjust, but still explore my interests and expand my knowledge in the computer science field, I was introduced to Sabio's Full Stack Web Development Program. Yes, it is long hours, but fortunatly, Sabio's has very supportive, understanding, bright, and patient staff to help push you along with the rest your cohort.

From the moment I started prework until I graduated from my cohort, its nonstop guided learning. There's always professionals there to answer your questions and give you feedback on your code. And the community you're apart of after you graduate is very generous about helping you out and with job postings.

First off I want to mention that the owners Liliana and Gregorio care for their students. They have a sincere motivation behind their business and I witnessed this numerous times when graduates would come visit them or at our graduation ceremony where you could just see the sincerity, the heart. Great People.
In regards to the program:
Sabio offers professtional experience and I can't think of other bootcamps that do the same. I mean you literally are working with a client to build a web application with a team of developers (your other classmates). The Instructors, actual Lead Developers with over 10 years of experience each, offer incredible guidance and help you learn to solve problems independently and collaboratively. I was a Barista going in and around a month after my graduation I obtained .NET Developer position. Gregorio, in particular, offered crucial advice for applying for jobs and how to self represent yourself, a skill many developers may lack. Also, you gain access to a thriving community of developers who all love to Code, Code, Code. Oh and I can't forget, you get the BEST hoodie ever at the end!!! Awesome program!!!

I completed Sabio's ASP.NET program in Culver City in June, and I have just accepted an offer for a development job at the end of July. The program gave me a strong base of development knowledge and I truly feel like I've been through a software project's full life cycle. The instructors are highly knowledgable and ensure that the curriculum, work level and instruction is tailored to every student's skillset. Experienced students will be consistently challenged while beginner students will leave with a firm foundation in fundamentals that will ensure they enter the industry.
I really don't have anything but good things to say about Sabio. When I was researching bootcamps, their name obviously leapt out to me due to their consistently excellent reviews, and I have to say that they totally lived up to the hype. The co-founders, Gregorio and Liliana, so clearly put the student experience at the forefront of everything they do and it will pay dividends for you if you put forth the effort they ask of you.

Best decision ever!

Background: No coding experience whatsoever (my computer literacy was average at best), never made more than 30k in my life, did not graduate from college. February 2017, I quit my job to begin my 3 month Sabio journey. June 2017, 2 weeks after i graduated from Sabio, I started working as a temp making more than double what I've ever made in my life. July 2017, I was brought on as a full-time employee at a financial investment company in downtown LA (this came with another pay raise).
For me personally, the 3 month course was an everyday struggle and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Sabio instructors simulate the real world environment by not holding your hand through problems. If you're stuck, they will guide you in the right direction and allow you to struggle through issues rather than just giving you the answer. That approach forces you to interact with your classmates and vastly sharpens your research skills.
A couple of weeks before graduation, focus shifts to job search. Sabio provides all sorts of tools and resources to find a job as well as a strong community to fall back on. The number of people that are willing to go out of their way to help you really shows the strength of the Sabio community.
5 months ago I was working at a place I did not want to be, with no degree feeling like I was stuck. Today, I'm coming up on my 2nd month working as an Application Developer at a major financial institution and it's all thanks to Sabio.
Best decision I've ever made!

Life Changing

My life has changed for the better because of the decision I made to enroll in to Sabio's program.
I was a community college student looking to transfer to a four year university as a computer science major. Faced with the prospect of spending another two years studying to get my career started as a developer, I felt frustrated and wanted a quicker path to achieve my goal. So I researched some of the coding bootcamps in my area and ultimitaley decided to attend a Sabio information session. At the session, I met Aaron Gibson -- who eventually was the instructor for my cohort -- and noticed that he was very passionate about helping people become programmers. I also liked the fact the Sabio's mission is to open up the world of software development to historically underrepresented groups. Aaron's passion and Sabio's mission (and their amazing reviews) were the determining factors in choosing Sabio over other programs. The pre-work session was a great way to dip my toes into the world of programming. The instructor for pre-work, Varr Willis, was an immense help during that time of my life, and I credit him with much of my current success. The bootcamp itself was tough, but because of my wonderful instructor, my cohort mates, the support the Sabio provides, hard work and determination, I was able to successfully complete it.
I was offered a job a week after completing the program, and started my job the week after that. Now I'm a Jr. Web Developer working accross all tiers of development, and I'm making twice as much money as I was making before.

Sabio was the best decision of my life. Sabio will teach you the skills you need to succeed as a software developer. And Sabio will get you that dev job you're looking for. Rest assured, this is easily the best coding boot camp in southern California. But beyond that, Sabio will become a family like you've never had.
When you sign up with Gregorio, you join a community of software engineers exactly like yourself. New to the industry and hungry to learn. Immediately, you have 300+ connections and friends who are looking out for you. To help you through tricky spots, and even to find a job. Sabio grads are a tight-knit bunch (whether we're rolling a hackathon or not); you couldn't ask for stronger support as you begin your new life.

I want to tell everyone about my experience AFTER I graduated from the bootcamp; your cohort experience will probably be different than mine, but I am absolutely positive that your experience after bootcamp will be the same.
I struggled after graduation - in many different ways - but I had great community get me through it. I was reassured that the learning and support didn’t stop after bootcamp, and I’m so glad that holds true today. You have unlimited support from the community, a team to join at hackathons, and a ton of opportunities to learn new tech at exclusive Sabio meetups.
As I said before, your experience during bootcamp won’t be the same as mine, but I do want to give a piece of advice:
Do not expect to be carried through this process. You have to push yourself. Sabio is there to support you, not hold your hand until you find a job, and they will give you ALL the tools you need to succeed. If you’re not being pushed, you have to push yourself.
I did not have Gregorio as an instructor, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he has your best interest at heart. He really cares about his students. I think just having him on your side is worth the $$.
PS I have a software engineering job and I like it :)

Don't be afraid, invest in a system that works

I began teaching myself the basics of the .NET stack using the online platform Pluralsight. However, soon after due to a looming company layoff at my previous employer, I was placed in a position where I needed to make a quick decision whether to continue my current career path or pursue a new career in web design.
Eventually, I decided to make my move into web development. I heard much about coding bootcamps and the potential they held but knew little about the specific camps or the differences between them. I visited one and still felt undecided. However, when I attended the Sabio orientation and experienced a very down to earth, no BS feel from Gregorio, along with what seemed like very appealing, realistic statistics regarding their previous cohorts and success, I decided to take a chance with them.
The pace moves very quickly, beginning with the pre-work. It definitely helps to have some background learning prior to coming in, as it helped me move through the program. However, I knew plenty of people entering with little to no prior knowledge, and they made it through just fine. It is very important to trust the system that was designed, as it is easy to feel anxious and overwhelmed, especially near the end.
Regardless, I can happily say that I finished my first week in my new position as a web developer, which I was offered one day prior to the end of the program. The program works, and it definitely does teach and solidify the necessary concepts in web design to help land your first position. I eagerly recommend that any person looking for a new start and is interested in programming or web development to give this place a try. Have a little faith, trust the system, and you will be rewarded. The people running this camp are very experienced and knowledgeable and are working tirelessly in your best interest. A great investment, and I would happily do it again.

Tons of work, but it pays off

Previously, I worked as an accountant, but didn't enjoy the work itself and wanted something more technical and challenging. I had completed some Codecademy courses (which I would recommend to anyone prior to enrolling in a bootcamp - not everyone is going to enjoy coding), and I found myself coding in my free time just for fun. It was time for a career change, and I have no regrets looking back. Bootcamps aren't just a replacement for attending college, they're also a great way to change careers if you went to college for the wrong thing.
Pre-work can be a bit of a pain to attend and isn't the most exciting, but it's important information. It's a totally different format than the bootcamp itself and more of a necessary evil than anything else - it is not representative of what you will do the rest of your time at Sabio. By learning those fundamentals prior to the bootcamp itself, you can hit the ground running and jump straight into the project-based structure of the course.
The bootcamp is structured like an actual workplace where the entire class will work on creating a project together for a local entrepreneur, and I would absolutely say the format of the class put me at an advantage going out into the workplace. You can expect a teacher to be onsite ~9-6 Mon-Fri acting as a lead developer, but you should also expect to stay a couple additional hours to work with classmates.
Sabio's goal is to make a full stack developer out of you, so typically work is divided into verticals. You pick an area that interests you, such as FAQs, and build the front-end, middle-tier, and back-end. Once you complete that, you pick another vertical, and the class builds an entire company in this manner using either Git (or TFS for .NET) to collaborate. Expect to meet with the entrepreneur a few times throughout the course to discuss his / her needs for the software and to give several presentations to other students about what you have been making. As graduation approaches, you'll start doing practice interviews and whiteboarding code to become more comfortable in interviews. Sabio will occasionally bring in potential employers to campus to interview students. I was the first MEAN cohort, so Sabio didn't have as many connections in the job market for those positions as .NET. They still did a good job of posting job opportunities and recommending employers, but .NET cohorts do have an advantage when looking for jobs. I would expect Sabio to have established a good amount of MEAN stack connections by the end of the year now that the first cohort has graduated and the second MEAN cohort has already begun.
It took me around 4 weeks after graduation to find a job, but it's one I'm very happy with in both salary and job responsibilities. Had I been less picky, I probably could have found one a bit quicker, but you should plan for it to take around a month to find a job.
All in all, I loved my time at Sabio and would still choose them if I did it all over. I feel like I'm a better developer than most people graduating with C.S. degrees, and I'm confident going into the workplace.
TL;DR:- Complete a few Codecademy courses to decide if you enjoy coding before enrolling in ANY bootcamp
- Don't form an opinion on Sabio based solely on pre-work
- Expect to work 10+ hours a day (with much of it on campus)
- You'll make a really cool project as a team that employers love
- Everyone will actually work as a full stack developer (if you're in one of the full stack cohorts)
- You'll learn practical knowledge and be able to beat C.S. grads in coding tests
- Sabio has a great network for finding .NET cohorts jobs and a growing network for MEAN cohorts
-
You will feel like you've already held a development job by the time you start your first official job

A year ago I was really unhappy with where I was in my life career-wise: I felt highly unfulfilled and bored working as an executive assistant, making a few dollars above minimum wage despite having a college degree. I decided to do something about it - I wanted a job that was more challenging, well-paying and in-demand. I decided to do programming, and looked into bootcamps in LA.
I decided to go with Sabio because they offered federal financial aid through their partner university, as well as a very welcoming environment (Sabio is very much into promoting diversity in the industry).
Pre-work at Sabio was a wonderful experience. Pre-work wasn't easy, but Sabio staff is there to make sure that you are being given the proper attention or help that you need to succeed. The instructors, Nicki and Jitin were so knowledgeable, patient and friendly. If someone was struggling or falling behind, they always made sure to help and guide that person so that they could keep up with the coursework.
Bootcamp was also a great but even more challenging experience, and that's how it's supposed to be. I was part of the first ever Node cohort at Sabio, and it was a really good training ground that prepared me for the real world. With every module or task that is assigned to you, you are encouraged to figure it out on your own and get it done in a timely manner. The instructor is there to help you and give you guidance, but don't expect to be spoonfed. Aside from giving you the hard skills that you need to succeed in the industry, Sabio also hones your problem-solving skills and self-starter attitude.
Sabio also dedicates some time for interview prep. The last two weeks of bootcamp are mostly dedicated to honing your resume, practicing hard and soft interview skills, and job-searching. With Sabio's connections we were able to do mock interviews with a few actual recruiters and developers, which really helped us prepare for actual interviews. In my case, I was able to land a full-time software developer job within 6 weeks.
I'm telling you, it's worth it. If you are thinking of making a career change into development, I suggest attending an info session at Sabio right away.

During the fall of 2016 I wanted a career change because I wasn't having much luck pursuing the job I wanted and if I wanted to make any real money, I had to obtain a Master's degree. I decided to stray from my current path and find a new opportunity. I remembered hearing about a career in coding and how it was a trade in demand. I did some thorough research to see if this was something that I could possibly pursue. After doing some research, I narrowed down my choices to 2 schools. One was a completely online course and the other was Sabio. Though the online course was several thousand dollars cheaper, I felt I wouldn't be able to discipline myself if I were to study at home. I attended one of Sabio's info sessions and was pretty happy to see that I wasn't the only person in the room. I listened carefully to what Gregorio (co-founder) had to say and was immediately sold. I studied on my own time, took the pre-work, passed the assessment in 1 try and moved on to the bootcamp.
The following three months were pretty stressful because we were tasked with learning new things on a daily basis. There wasn't a lot of hand holding and we were expected to try to figure out problems on our own. Our instructor (Mike) made sure to assist us if we were ever blocked from completing our task. Though we did get assistance, he rarely blatantly told us the solution to the answer. My guess would be, it would defeat the purpose of this bootcamp if somebody just told you the answer to everything. There are times when you'll feel like an idiot for being stuck for so long, and you will eventually doubt yourself. Inevitably, you WILL begin to compare yourself to your peers as some people appear to have a natural talent in this. But, it is crucial to know that everybody has his/her own pace of learning. Just because you are exposed to the same content, doesn't mean it will click the same for everybody. With that said, the most important thing (in my opinion) is having your peer's back. There may be a time when you are stuck and maybe your instructor has a jam packed schedule in front of him. Your only means of help are your peers and the internet. Luckily all my peers were super awesome people and we all got along. It is important that you have a good relationship since you will be stuck in a room with these people for 12 weeks for at least 9-10 hours a day.
As the program begins to wrap up, your cohort will naturally begin to freak out. Our freak out weak was...week 9? People will begin to doubt their ability and whether or not their knowledge on the code will suffice in getting a job. Nevertheless, keep your cool, and trust the system. Sabio knows what it is doing. You may not know it, but there is a lot of knowledge in your head by week 9 that you may not be aware of. By that point, some things will just be second nature to you. Be sure to try to keep your weekly hours at 70 hours of code per week. They tell us to do that for a reason. If you are ever feeling concerned, you can always talk to your instructor or Gregorio about your problems. They are heavily involved and invested in each and every one of us. I wasn't the strongest developer in the team and I managed to land a job as soon as the program ended. As long as you put in the effort and can honestly tell yourself you tried your best, things will work out for you at Sabio. For current and future Sabio fellows, when in doubt, trust the system. Seriously, trust the system.

Do the Cohort, Don't be discouraged by prework.

I think the major difference between Sabio and other bootcamps is the fact that Sabio doesn't treat it's training like coursework. You get to work for a real company in an environment that is essentially the same as a professional work environment. You do some "excercises" in the first 2 weeks to get some basics down, then go straight into practical coding after that. You work all day (9-7pm), do stand-up meetings in the morning, and tackle practical coding challlenges that are demanded by the product you are designing. It's pure gold.
Now, as some others have noted, it is a bit rough around the edges. The prework is chaotic and sometimes the classes are structured in ways that don't seem to be very well thought out.
There is a vast difference in quality between the prework and the actual cohort. VAST. The cohort is amazing. It challenges you, it can give you experience working for a real startup company and it forces you to put in the raw hours neccessary to learn coding for real.
I feel like the prework would probably serve as a deterrent for most people. It was for me. Don't be deterred! Do the prework to see if you have a personal aptitude for coding, not as a demo of what the Sabio experience is like. The prework is not like the cohort. Do the cohort, you won't regret it!
