My time @ Le Wagon
Overall the experience was great ! I learned new skills (Ruby, Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and met amazing people. The projects we had to do at the end of this formation were amazing because it allowed us to use everything we learned before in a concrete way.
I can't wait to see where this experience will lead me. Can't wait to jump into the tech world. -

Life changing experience
The bootcamp is very well designed to guide through all the concepts and areas of the Data Science field. Some moments were really challenging but at the end of the day, the team is there to support you and make sure you make it through. For me it is a 10/10 I would do it a hundred times over if I had to make the same decision. -

Pros:
The classroom is setup nicely, some of the teachers are friendly and professional.
Cons:
1. The course design is unreasonable. This 10 weeks bootcamp contains Ruby on Rails and some front end courses, however, if you search junior Ruby on Rails in any job platform in China, you will find out it's less than 10. No kidding, it's not a popular backend language here at all while the course design contains most of the courses for this. And for the front end, how come the teacher only spent one day which is less than three hours to go through the Vue framework? For JavaScript is similar, a bit longer but than 3 hours but still very little.
It's very frustrated when you finally find out that you quit your job and spent your whole 10 weeks for this bootcamp, then finally they teach you something that is NOT match to the job market. Only until you finish this bootcamp and start to find a job, you will find out all out the front end job requires you at least good at Vue, React or Angular. I think if people have 0 background of coding before, then they can master Vue just in 2 hours, you're a genius and you no need to come to Le Wagon at all!
Hence, no one guide us to do our project with any framework for frontend! One of my expectation for this bootcamp is I can finish at least some presentable project and put them on my CV. However, the toy project they we made without any framework is totally unhelpful for job interview.
2. Some of the teachers here are NOT qualify to be a teacher. During the class, you will find out you paying almost 40,000 CNY(which is around 4 months of average salary of Shanghai/around 5500 EUR) for unprofessional teachers. I'd say some of them are really good as the pros that I mentioned, but some of them are not qualify. Sometimes, when you asked a simple question, the teacher/TA just don't know and said let's google it together. Which is fine at the beginning. However, sometimes it takes a long time, and they may said something really confuse you. The problem is they don't know exactly how it works, they just repeat the answer from Stack overflow. Which we can all see. I think sometimes, as a student, you're expect the teacher can explain the how it works rather than just repeat the answer. What's worse, sometimes they just asked you to check the documentation. I think it's good to learning how to check the documentation, but we spent lots of money for this bootcamp, I think it's reasonable that after I checked the documentation then I still have no answer, I can ask for help. Later on, me and some of my classmates realized that it's not because our teacher/TA are rude, it's because they don't know the answer. So they just keep saying that which makes you more confused.
As for teachers manner, I think some of them didn't receive enough training of how to be a teacher. Sometimes, they're having a conversation very loudly when we are sitting there to study. Sometimes, when you approach the teacher and want to ask the question, they saw you but just keep talking to their good friends. Which is in a very bad manner, they put their personal conversation in a higher level than their work during working hours. It's acceptable if you just go out to have your conversation and don't make some noise while people are studying. Some of the teachers even have emotional problems, you will find out they are very rude both verbally and physically. Sometimes, when we talk about this, we can just comfort each other that maybe he's in period.
3. Very limited assistance of career service. Before we join the bootcamp, we're informed that there's career service and some of our alumni joined some good company. However, finally we find out the so called career service is just teached you how to write a Linkedin profile and invited alumni to share their experience. We expected that Le Wagon may introduce and refer some web development position for us, while it turns out a PM. If you want to find a job? Please rely on your own. It's completely different as what Le Wagon Shanghai promotes, which is 93% employment rate and median salary on first job is 214k CNY. 214K is NOT for junior developer in China, I think it's very lucky if you can find a web developer position job with 15k CNY in Shanghai. As for the employment rate, my TA told me no one find a decent job as a developer after 2 months that they finished the bootcamp. For our batch, not one get hire as a developer after we completed our bootcamp.
In a nutshell, I think Le Wagon may have some good teachers and good relationship with some companies in Europe, however, please open your eyes and don't expect too much for Shanghai campus. The tech industry is very competitive in China now, if you looking for switch your career and get employ, maybe find a Chinese bootcamp is an option. I heard some of the people get hired by Accenture and Citi bank 1 week after they finished they bootcamp with half of Le Wagon's cost, and they have good projects. I really regret that I made a wrong decision and very anxious about my current situation. I wrote this for sharing my real experience and for someone who do not have tech background like me. Of course, if 40,000 CNY and 10 weeks means nothing for you, Le Wagon Shanghai is definitely worth to have a try! -

Outstanding student panel, but harmful lack of support.

I participated in a programming bootcamp in 2020 and found that there were many positive aspects. One of the best features of the course was the student dashboard, which was exceptional. Additionally, the recorded video lessons were very helpful for reviewing the content after the course.
However, there were some negative points that I should also mention. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our group was the first to participate remotely, which may have affected the quality of learning and interaction with instructors. There was also little focus on helping students who had more difficulty learning, which was a challenge for me. The emphasis was placed on teaching Ruby on Rails 6, a web development framework that, while still popular, is not as widely used in courses and bootcamps as other more modern technologies such as Node.js or React. In addition, little time was dedicated to teaching programming fundamentals, which made understanding the course difficult.
Furthermore, the regional coordination of the company was not very inclusive, which was a bit frustrating. At the end of the course, I felt like I had not learned as much as I had hoped. Additionally, the price of the course was too high for a nine-week course.
The final project was also challenging, as it was very open-ended, and many students had difficulty successfully delivering it. It would be helpful to have a pre-defined final project based on the skills of beginner students. Additionally, there were small groups formed by students who knew more, which resulted in little help for students who knew less.
In summary, the programming bootcamp I participated in in 2020 had some positive points, such as a good student dashboard and the availability of recorded video lessons. However, there were some negative points, such as a lack of focus on teaching programming fundamentals, a framework that, while still popular, is not as widely used in courses and bootcamps as other more modern technologies, little support for struggling students, and a challenging final project. Additionally, the price of the course was too high for what was offered. I hope that this review helps other people who are looking for a programming bootcamp to make an informed decision. -

A great bootcamp at a high price-point

A great bootcamp albeit slightly on the expensive side.
Curriculum: the bootcamp's curriculum is awesome and allows the student to get introduced to the core concepts and some of the most widely used languages in web development (on the back-end side, Ruby on Rails and on the front-end side, HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Although I did not become a master of any of these concepts and languages by the end of the bootcamp, I feel that a dedicated student will acquire a really strong foundation allowing him/her to further expand on, and to be recognized, without a doubt, as a valuable asset on the job market. The lesson/exercises dynamic is great, as there is no fooling around: the student learns and immediately practices until he/she gets it, always supported by great teachers and assistants.
Teacher / Teacher Assistants : truly a forte of the bootcamp, I was really impressed by the technical abilities, the patience and dedication of both teachers and teacher assistants. They all seemed down-to-earth, showed great support and were a joy to learn with.
Organization : I enrolled in the remote version of the bootcamp, which is the same price as the on-site version. I'd highly suggest enrolling in the latter as there is a sense of belonging to a group and a stronger emulation process (I came to this conclusion by comparing my experience with various people from other batches).
Price-point : the bootcamp is not exactly affordable, even with regards to its quality. They could, in my humble opinion, lower the price a bit. All the more, there is no real justification as to why the remote version of the bootcamp would be the same price as the on-site version. -

A great bootcamp
Le Wagon was a great experience. The way they teach is straightforward and build up over the weeks.
The teachers are very available and ready to help.
You end up with a lot of knowledge and able to build fully functional app. -

Le Wagon an awesome experience!

Hi guys, my name is Gabriel, and today I want to share with you the experience I had doing the full-time bootcamp at Le Wagon Rio de Janeiro. I started it with some background, knowing about variables, functions, and scope, but nothing more than that, I basically only knew about their existence 🤣 and maan, now if I do not know how to do something, for sure I know where to find the solution or for who to ask.
Unfortunately, I do not have another experience like this to compare with, but I can point out the strong things about Le Wagon 💪:
✔ The program works, their methodology was built for us to achieve our goals, to become a FullStack Web Developer, during the first days we learned about variables and functions, and in the last weeks we were building real web applications. You will be able of doing it in just 10 weeks, trust me! The concepts are given at their perfect time!
👨💻 You’ll save a lot of time, during the bootcamp we have a lot of challenges per day, which means we practice a lot, and if we struggle we have an entire team to help us with!
👩🏫 At there you will see that your campus have teachers, teachers assistants, manager, and many other people working for you to have a great experience, happy people that actually like what they are doing and put a lot of their good energy into it, you will have amazing emotional and technical support.
👨🎓 The final projects at bootcamp are typically completed in teams, and everyone works together to complete them. If you struggle with a particular aspect of the project, you can ask for help from the teachers or your team members. The great thing about this is that you will still be participating in its development even if you are not working on the backend. You will have an understanding of the entire stack, even if you do not want to work as a frontend or backend developer. This knowledge will be valuable, as having a frontend developer who understands some backend concepts is more valuable than one who does not. Even if you don't want to work as a frontend or backend developer, you will have ideas about how it works.
📡 The COMMUNITY is the best, many people around the world, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and digital nomads, actually started from where you are, and many of them are there to take out your doubts!
👀 Serious people there are amazing, loved it, even after the bootcamp when I had some doubts, the teachers and TAs were there for me if they have time of course!
📈 Solid logic knowledge, during the bootcamp, we learn to solve various challenges using Ruby and JavaScript. By learning these languages, it becomes much easier to learn other languages as well, because what essentially changes between one language and another is the syntax. -

Great people, great knowledge
Great place to learn to code and change yoru career, the pastoral care is on another level, opportunities to socialise, great mix of people, friendly atmosphere! A lot of material was covered in a short timeframe, lots of resources to take advantage of both during and after the bootcamp as an alumni -

6 month after completing the Le Wagon Full Stack Web Development Course, I can it was one of the most impactful decisions of my life.
The pace of the bootcamp is great, you are introduced to new concepts in a very regular way, adding to existing knowledge.
The buddy system, where you are paired up with a different person everyday, is great for learning to work with different people and learning different ways to solve challenges.
I would recommend Le Wagon to anyone interested in a change of career into web development -

rip off
Read more Read less of Anonymous's review
Only a couple of teachers were excellent but they do not have the qualifications to teach (no PhDs,etc). Majority had only finished the bootcamp and were given jobs as TA. The amount of money you pay is way too much. There are courses online that have a better structure and content. The videos are substandard. The fee is almost like a Mater's degree but the qualification you get at the end doesn't really give you added credibility. Honestly, it was a total rip off. They promise to help you with jobs. They give you "guidance" and tell you to be persistent. Only those who already have a more solid background in the Sciences/Maths/Computing will be successful after the bootcamp- and not because of the bootcamp but the degree already gained from reputable universities. PLEASE, do not waste your money! -

The course is fine but it's absolutely overpriced.

I finished Le Wagon's Web Development course a few months ago and I enjoyed the experience however I still think that the price is unjustifiable. With the same amount of money, you'd be better off taking some time off in a tropical country while going through an online course, which can be just as good if not better than what you get on Le Wagon.
I'd only recommend the course for those who don't have any work experience or education because this could be a start for your career, but again, you could do that by building a strong portfolio. -

Intense, Insightful and Worthwhile Bootcamp

As you might have read by many other reviewers online, a coding bootcamp experience can turn your professional life around. My experience at Le Wagon Berlin couldn't have validated this point more!
For 10 weeks (9 weeks of face-to-face learning + 1 week of coding prep-work), I faced coding challenges I never knew I could solve. While having had some coding experience prior to the bootcamp, the real key to solving these challenges was Le Wagon's systematic approach to teaching. That said, the extensive tech and coding experience of both the lecturers and TAs was equally invaluable in this regard.
While I might have taken away more about some fields in data than others, this was largely due to personal choice. Indeed, although the bootcamp centralizes the use of skills common to data science, we were introduced to skills needed for both data analysis and data engineering. Given my initial desire to skill-up in data analysis, I ended up focusing more of my attention on lectures pertaining to this field than others.
If I were to utter any sort of critique about the bootcamp, it would relate to the point above. Finding a job as a data scientist right after the bootcamp will be a challenge for most people - especially for those with no experience in tech or quantitative work. Most people will start as data analysts or engineers and slowly work towards roles in data science. The bootcamp certainly delivers on its promise to introduce students to the current standards in data science, but in light of this reality, students should be aware of the skills needed for a start in the data world and prepare accordingly throughout the bootcamp.
This is, of course, less of a critique about Le Wagon's programme, but rather a word of caution to anyone who is looking to start a highly specialized bootcamp as such.
I can whole-heartedly recommend Le Wagon's data science bootcamp, and would do it again if I could! -

Data Science Bootcamp - Lisbon 2022

I did the Data Science Bootcamp course with LeWagon during the Summer of 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. It was by far the best decision I’ve made this year. The course was fantastic. Thanks to their amazing staff, within only 9-weeks I learnt more than I thought would be possible. It took my coding skills to a whole new level and gave me the opportunity to change my life around. I needed a “win” this year and the experience I had a LeWagon granted me that. Not only with the knowledge and skills that I have acquired but for the people I have met along the way. After graduating you have definitely much more higher chances of landing a job. Especially during career week you have the chance to get insights of applying to a job and hiring process. From the constant support of TAs and leading teachers to the incredible campus, the LeWagon experience is extremely worth it! -

I completed the Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp with no previous programming knowledge except of self study before the bootcamp (my background is legal). It was definitely the most intense learning experience I've had so far, but probably also the most rewarding one, and a decision I'll never regret. The staff and teachers provide great guidance and support on every step, and the atmosphere at the campus is very welcoming and inclusive, which was very important for me as a non-tech person. I never believed it is possible to dive so far into ML in such a short time, and yet at Le Wagon they found a way :) -

Fantastic human and technical experience
Le Wagon is a really fantastic school to become a web developper in a very short time. Courses and exercises are very well structured, so that you can progress every day, teachers are all very good at their job, kind and patient, you can meet alumni, you can attend to events ... And after your bootcamp, the career week help you to start your new projects. It was just perfect ! -

Great bootcamp for people like me with absolutely no programming background. It definitely teaches enough to know how to develop web applications at the end of the course (if the student puts the necessary work). It’s super important to be proactive in order to fully take advantage of what the bootcamp has to offer but it’s definitely worth it. Plus, Le Wagon Brazil’s team has the friendliest people on earth, it was both intense and super fun -

I had been looking to learn to code for a while. I had heard about the wagon from a friend who had attended and loved it. There was a campus close to my home, which was great for me. The program is intense, but well designed, the teachers are great. The project week was amazing, my team and I gave a great presentation. Since then I've continued to code, I'm hooked and can't wait to see what the future holds! -

Terrible Le wagon
Be prepared for the fact that if the course does not suit you, then Le wagon will refuse to return the money to you (please contact your bank and the money will be returned to you). The manager of Le wagon will communicate with you in a passive-aggressive manner. I do not recommend. -

I studied aerospace engineering and worked in the airline industry for a few years before I came to Le Wagon to learn to code. One of my main reasons for doing the bootcamp instead of learning it on my own from the internet was the clear guided structure and amazing knowledgable teachers who were always ready to help and support. I really liked how we were specifically guided towards best practices and learned how to code the correct way which will be important when looking for a job in the tech industry. There also a career week in the end which helped me a lot!
But the most important thing about Le Wagon was and is the amazing community which you will stay part of for the rest of your life! I met the most amazing people (both students & teachers) there and the worldwide Le Wagon network is in my opinion one of the strongest benefits - enriching both personal and professional life. -

Le Wagon is a fantastic bootcamp that provides an immersive and intense learning experience. The curriculum is excellent and covers a wide range of topics, from the basics of web development to more advanced concepts. The instructors are knowledgeable and experienced, and they are able to provide guidance and support to help students reach their full potential. The atmosphere of the bootcamp is highly supportive and collaborative, and students are able to form strong bonds with their classmates. Overall, Le Wagon is an excellent bootcamp that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn web development. -

I'm so glad I did this bootcamp! I have heard other people's experiences in other bootcamps and Le Wagon is great! I love the way their curriculum is so targeted to build a product.
The whole community is awesome, and the teachers are super nice which is always a plus! This was overall the best educational experience I've ever had and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to switch careers. -

Le wagon is a well structured boot camp and can be very intense which is great as it pushes you to your limits. It puts you in a position where you meet and network with people from all over the world which will help you work on projects during and after the course. I got a much clearer understanding of how the process of building a web application works, something I did not get when I was self studying at home. If anyone is thinking of doing the course, I will say prepare beforehand, do some self study and go for it. It will change your life! -

Le Wagon was a great experience for me and I came in a complete beginner. The format of the bootcamp as well as the staff is simply amazing. You are working in teams while also learning on your own with a mix of teachers and TA's helping you along the way. I knew I wanted to dive into the tech world and Le Wagon was the best stepping stone I could have asked for. It aligned me with my current career goal which is Product Management and I would not have been slightly as prepared if I didn't complete the bootcamp. Thank you to all the staff and founders of the Le Wagon! -

I started Le Wagon's Web Development bootcamp in Montreal in January 2022 as a full time student for 9 weeks. Before joining Le Wagon, I thought of learning web development on my own since I had some experience in programming, but I decided to go with the bootcamp since having a mentor and a fixed schedule makes it easier and faster to reach the end goal. After looking at my options in Montreal, I came to the decision that Le Wagon was the best option for me. Looking back at it, I’m glad I went with it since it made me realize how important it is to not just gain the necessary programming knowledge but to also know how to work in teams, brainstorm ideas to implement and mainly learn the skills needed to work as a professional developer. The teachers and TAs were some of the nicest people I’ve met, always giving their best to keep us motivated on our challenges and help us if we ever got stuck. After completing the bootcamp, I became confident in my skills and ready to start my career as web developer! Change your life, learn to code. -

I joined LeWagon during a summer at Uni, as I don't enjoy my degree in electronics and was looking for my calling elsewhere. LeWagon definitely proved supper helpful for this, I got to learn a new codding language from scratch and see examples of data analytics applied in almost every industry. For example, my final project consisted on predicting the direction of bitcoin price! I recommend this experience to anyone looking to change career direction or learn data analytics. The teaching is incredible there are TA's available all day to quickly help with any questions, together with really cool alumni talks including current employees at Google or Monzo! -

Before the bootcamp I was wandering aimlessly with no clear direction, that is until my brother came to my with a recommendation on how to fix my current situation.
My experiences after joining it are all overwhelmingly positive. Even if it was daunting at the beginning my TAs and fellow students made sure to never make me feel discouraged, always offering a helping hand whenever needed. Through cooperation and hard work we ended up creating an app we're truly proud of, (Nomacafe) and have now confidently entered the programming world. -

From start to finish of the bootcamp, the support from the team at Le Wagon is nothing short of amazing. They all have an incredible work ethic and are always 110% willing to help you with whatever you want. Their teachers were always very knowledgeable of the subject they were teaching and always incredibly patient and helpful with all of the students and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. It is by far the best bootcamp you can find nowadays, and I am recommending it to anybody that wants to start coding. If there's one thing I have to say about them is that I think people should study and prepare a lot more than the provided prep work they give you in order to be better prepared to a REALLY intense 9 weeks. Nonetheless, their infrastructure and tools for helping you learn is amazing. The material is always incredibly up to date, and their alumni network after you finish the course makes this by far the best bootcamp you can choose. As the title says, if you want to start learning how to code, just look for the Le Wagon closest to you and drop by to talk to anybody from their team and I am sure that you will have an amazing experience.
