I recently started using DataCamp as part of a scholarship program, and so far, my experience has been positive. The platform is well-structured, especially for beginners who are just getting into data analysis and programming.
The lessons are broken down into short, interactive segments, which makes it easier to stay engaged. I also like that you can practice immediately after learning a concept instead of just watching videos passively.
One thing I noticed is that some topics can feel a bit confusing at first, especially if you’re completely new to programming. However, with consistency and practice, it starts to make more sense over time.Another advantage is that it doesn’t consume too much data compared to other learning platforms, which is helpful for students.Overall, I think DataCamp is a solid platform for building foundational skills in Python and data analysis. I have had a few weeks of experience using the DataCamp platform, following a scholarship award from Data Community Africa. It has been a good interactive session. I previously had tried learning data science in diffeerent platforms- linked in learning, youtube, and all had the same problems- I didnt feel like I was having a good and nice flow of concepts right from the beginners guide to the intermediate and to the advanced levels. Good learn portal
It is a good portal which balances theory and practice.
First, it teaches you about the theory of the topic, and then it lets you apply all that knowledge in a virtual environment with good exercise.

Before enrolling in Le Wagon, I had heard glowing reviews about the school's training programs from numerous sources. However, it wasn't until I actually joined that I truly understood why it was so highly regarded. The curriculum is meticulously designed, with a perfect balance between theory and practical application, allowing students to grasp complex concepts in a relatively short span of 9 weeks.
What struck me the most was the intensity of the program. Each day was packed with lectures, coding exercises, and collaborative projects, leaving little time for leisure. Yet, it was this very intensity that pushed me to learn and grow at an accelerated pace. The challenges presented during the course forced me to stretch my limits, testing my problem-solving skills .
Despite the rigorous nature of the program, I found immense satisfaction in overcoming each obstacle and mastering new concepts. The sense of accomplishment after completing a challenging project or solving a difficult coding problem was unparalleled. Moreover, the supportive community of instructors and fellow students made the journey all the more enjoyable.
Looking back, I can confidently say that my time at Le Wagon was both grueling and immensely rewarding. It was a transformative experience that not only equipped me with valuable technical skills but also instilled in me a sense of resilience and determination to tackle any challenge that comes my way in the future. -

I love datacamp. I believe it’s a great platform to start. I’m about to finish a bootcamp in data science. Datacamp has helped me to set base, and improve some skills. I don’t recommend it to rely only on the knowledge just from here but build up from it or improve on things you already have. -

DataCamp is my favorite platform for learning technical skills. The courses are designed to make the student learn and think about real world issues. Whether it is a beginning, intermediate or advanced course the structure is similar. You learn from short videos; then practice challenging exercises; finally, you put all together with excellent projects. For me, this learning experience is not only rewarding but also exiting. The instructors are extraordinary as well as the content of each course I have taken. Thus far, I have taken more than 60 courses in Python and SQL applicable to finance, research, higher education and more. -

I am based in Africa, and currently having employment issues so having funds to access such a platform was something I would have not been able to do without their scholarship opportunity. I recently enrolled in two R tracks on DataCamp and overall, I have had a positive experience with the platform. The courses offer a wide range of content, and I appreciate the flexibility and choices available to learners. However, there is one aspect that has been bothersome and somewhat frustrating: the constant push for an upgraded workspace, which comes with an additional cost.
The courses on DataCamp provide valuable and informative content. The material is well-structured and presented in a clear and engaging manner. I found the instructors to be knowledgeable and effective in explaining complex concepts. The platform itself is user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through the various modules and track my progress.
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm for the courses has been dampened by the persistent advertisement of the upgraded workspace. After subscribing to DataCamp through my workplace, I was surprised to find that I had to pay extra for this "upgraded" feature. This additional cost was not clearly communicated at the time of subscription, and it felt like an unnecessary burden, especially since I had already paid for access.
Moreover, what further exacerbates the issue is the frequency at which DataCamp promotes this upgrade. It feels like every time I log in or complete a lesson, I am bombarded with reminders and offers to upgrade. This constant over-advertisement creates a sense of annoyance and detracts from the overall learning experience.
I understand that companies need to monetize their platforms, and offering additional features at a cost is a common practice. However, it would be more transparent and user-friendly if DataCamp provided upfront information about the additional fees for the upgraded workspace, rather than surprising users after they have already subscribed.
Despite this drawback, I must emphasize that the quality of the course content and the variety of choices available on DataCamp are commendable. If they could address the issue of over-promotion and be more upfront about additional costs, it would greatly enhance the overall user experience.
In conclusion, while I am satisfied with the courses' content and the wealth of options provided by DataCamp, the constant push for an upgraded workspace and the subsequent extra cost have been sources of frustration. I hope DataCamp takes user feedback into consideration and works towards providing a more transparent and user-friendly experience for its subscribers.Emily of DataCamp

Ironhack No Reimbursment

I applied for the Data Analytics program in Mexico. The project manager bullied me to withdraw my application and ask for a reimbursement. Even though the program was advertised as a course for beginners, I was told I won’t get the credential because I am a beginner, so I should withdraw my application even before the course started. I told them I would study hard they told me it doesn’t matter. I was told the reimbursement would take max 60 days. Today they told me I might not even get my money back within 60 days. I am on day 35. I don't post negative reviews, but I don't know what else to do to help myself. Niche, Good Professors, Bad Coding

I've been using Datacamp for a year now to learn the programming necessary for Quantitative Finance, Data Science, and Web scraping with Rvest. It is one of the only bootcamps offering such an inclusive selection. Furthermore, the courses are taught by highly qualified and accomplished experts in the field. I've learned various skills such as backtesting, GARCH modeling, portfolio analysis, etc.. If you're a student I think the $150 is well worth it. Some of the drawbacks, however, prevent me from truly enjoying the courses. Firstly, I found myself spending hours teaching myself concepts they assumed I already knew. This is fine - the high level courses aren't meant to spoon feed beginners. However, I would've appreciated a guideline or outside references to sources where I could better educate myself without wasting time. Some courses are chock full of unneccesarily dense language as well which is annoying. I've also found that some courses lack so much necessary info - especially the course on webscraping. The coding portion is atrocious. Many of it seems to be geared towards memorization rather than conceptual understanding, code can be randomly placed which ends up being very confusing, and the instructions aren't clear enough. Ironically, I think its easier to do open ended projects on my own than writing code within datacamp courses. In Rstudio, arguments are specified when you type a function. That isn't available within their native notebook, which is an inconvenience that adds up. They need to reevaluate it to teach concepts, not memorizing every function available. Luckily, you can skip those and still pass. Overall, I would reccomend it because none of the competition stacks up in terms of course availability & instructor quality. -

I am a professor that teaches Financial Machine Learning. DataCamp's Data Science courses have significantly benefited my students and allowed them to practice their skills. In my opinion, the courses are very well designed and I highly recommend them to anyone learning Data Science, Machine Learning, or Programming. -

They "updated" a course, cutting the best professor of data science career track while I am in the midle of the course. They don't even gave me the option to finish my track to get my certificate. His suport takes way to long to give me help. I investedd way to many time and money and now i can't even proceed with my course. -

Feel scammed, price was advertised as a per-month charge of $25, when i looked at my credit card statement i was charged $300, and of course they don't offer refunds. On top of that, the course didn't even have all the datasets so I wasn't able to complete it. Honestly extremely frustrated. -

Despite I being a novice in the R program, the way to learn from the most basic and advanced, containing relevant and general points of the programming, helped me a lot to work on my own projects, I think that it contains all the necessary structure to be able to learn correctly They also included real life projects that helped me relate it to other fields. -

Beware of DataCamp! When you sign up, it's for a year, but it will automatically enroll you in a subscription service that will automatically renew. This is buried in their terms of service. Before the renewal, they will send you a "happy anniversary" email. It looks like spam, but when you scroll below the fold, you'll see a notification in this email that you're about to be renewed.

Datacamp scammed me about of $180. This is a small, new, young business that isn't stable. You always have to be careful of their business practices.
I graduated and no longer needed the software and haven't used it in over a year. Still they bill you and refuse refund because even though you only sign one year, they will auto-enroll you without your knowledge even though I only signed for 1 year because I knew that's all I would've needed.
Very deceitful and very sinister business practice. That kind of treatment towards customers made me want to warn everyone to stay away from this service as they do whatever they can to get your money. There's a reason they don't have a phone number or customer support. Because of all the complaints they get and don't want to hear. It's really poor service and nothing they teach isn't already out there for free already. Please do yourself a favor and avoid DataCamp. I cannot stress enough what deceitful business practices they have with auto-enrolling and hidden billing. Do NOT pay for DataCamp. Do NOT use it. learn on your own or buy a book, much more cost-effective anyway. And their exercises aren't always perfect or explanatory either. -

I would say the difficulty with Data Camp courses seem to be on the easier side- they however did a great job making the courses fun. I got my first Data Scientist position and a 10% raise within the same company but different department only 4 ~ 5 months after I started DataCamp. Then I realised that Data Camp wasn't enough for me for my job and I need to learn more, I therefore registered myself into an online master degree. The online master degree is way more challenging than DataCamp but if not because I really enjoyed my experience with DataCamp, I wouldn't even thought about doing an online master degree. I now have my second data scientist position in another company, which pays 69 % higher than my first Data scientist position. While I am taking my online master courses right now, I still use datacamp to brush up my data related skills and I've really enjoyed it. Data Camp isn't everything, but it's really good for people to build up the habit of learning new things every day. -

Strongly not recommend it! Especially if you are new in codding. All other providers from Coursera, EDX to Udemy have better approaches to codding. Some times I visiting their site (DataCamp) and find some useful things. But I strongly not recommend totally rely on this sourse. I'm confident You will not learn faster, but you will understand less.

I was working on datacamp exercises at work and a client stopped by and was telling him about it. I was showing him how it works and got to the part where you search for 'RT' in a dataframe containing tweets from Twitter. Press "Run" on the code what do I have on my screen? "CRUZ SCREWS HOOKERS" and a bunch of other political tweets.
Like most people learning with datacamp, I am taking this course for professional reasons and I expect professional content. Is this the only data you could come up with? -

I would highly recommend people to not waste time with Datacamp. I've used it actively for a few weeks and don't feel like I've really learned anything. The exercises are ridiculously easy and the instruction for them gives everything away. Usually the code needed to solve the problem is more than half written for you and you just have to do the easiest parts, sometimes by copypasting code from the instruction.. Seriously, what am I supposed to learn this way?
Although they advertise themselves as "firm belivers of 'learning by doing'" their site doesn't reflect this. Most of the time spent using Datacamp is watching videos (which are not bad) or reading the instructions for the exercises that repeat the videos' content. There is very little doing where you have think, hardly any to be honest.
I went through the first eight (out of 23) chapters of their Data Scientist with R Track, so I belive that I have a good picture of the overall quality. The depth these courses have would be ok for high school but I seriously doubt that it gives you skills to compete with in the job market.

When news about successes in data analyses and visualisation emerged in social media, newspapers and TV, I started understanding the importance of learning programmes like R. Big data analyses open new opportunities in this business-intense, science-oriented, and the interpretation-focused world. Therefore, I tried to learn the language from free online courses. However, they were not for me, who wants to get the skills right after 2-3 classes. I wanted a platform that teaches me everything with the help of simple, but elegant methods.
In one of my google searches, DataCamp popped up and I first learned some basics from the free courses offered by their team. When I found that the courses are beneficial and help me get a deeper understanding of the analysing techniques and visualisation, I got a yearly subscription. The videos and the interactive exercises are so effective that I was able to confidently write the codes within 3-4 months. Now I can handle data visualisation, analyses etc. by writing codes in R. I really enjoy making plots and analysing data.

The interactive learning platform & the easy-to-understand course content are great for entering the data science world as well as refreshing prior knowledge in a practical way. The course portfolio in the career/skill tracks provide systematic training to kick start the data science journey. I was intimidated by R at first. The design of the courses in R imparts an active learning process that does not depend on boring lectures or exercises. The course chapters and certificates of accomplishments help track progress. Some exercises are a little clumsy because the authors assume a level of knowledge that may not have yet been gained. There is no general recommended flow of learning among chapters, just that within a chapter. So I certainly do not feel ashamed in taking some hints or requesting the solution in order to progress. In all of the mistakes and frustration, theee is learning. And Data Camp has developed an exquisite path to learning.

Ive used datacamp for about 3 months now and while i found it to be quite useful and informative for the beginner courses, as the courses progress and become more advanced, it becomes very frustrating. There are frequently mistakes in the exercises and it becomes even more frustrating to attempt to reproduce any of the exercises offered as the resources used in the exercise are not offered, instead you will need to find and download what you hope will be identical to what was used. Furthermore there are steps which although are seemingly minor can stop you from completly many of the exercises of which are not covered and you will need you seek out the answers from other sources. Would recommend for beginners only.
