Applied Data Science Program by MIT Professional Education

The MIT Applied AI and Data Science program was an incredibly rewarding experience for me. The flexible class schedule made it manageable alongside work, and I had the opportunity to learn from both MIT professors and industry experts about the latest AI applications in data science.
The program provides comprehensive learning materials in multiple formats, which makes the content accessible and engaging. As long as you are willing to dedicate time and effort, you can gain a great deal of knowledge and practical skills from the program.

One aspect I especially appreciated was the broad exposure to different areas of AI and data science, including machine learning, deep learning, data analysis and visualization, big data analytics, recommendation systems, and general AI applications. The program combines theoretical foundations with real-world case studies, helping learners understand how these concepts can be applied in practice.
Whether you want to deepen your expertise in your current role or transition into AI and data science, this program offers valuable tools and insights to support your goals.

The mentors and program managers were also extremely supportive, responsive, and encouraging throughout the journey. Through this experience, I strengthened both my theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving abilities, and it also expanded my perspective on how AI can improve real-world work and organizational processes.

The Applied AI and Data Science Program was very well organized, and I liked how the content for each week was structured. The combination of live and recorded lectures along with hands-on exercises worked really well and made it easier to learn and review topics when needed. The professors were very knowledgeable, and the pace of the lectures felt good. There were opportunities to ask questions during class, and they also had mentor Q&A sessions at the end to make sure questions were addressed.

One of my favorite parts of the program was the small-group mentoring sessions on Zoom during the weekends. These sessions gave us the chance to interact directly with mentors and ask questions. During these sessions, the mentors reviewed the content covered during the week and walk through a case study.

I also appreciated the pre-work before the course started, which helped me get more familiar with Python and made the beginning of the course less overwhelming.

I think you can get a lot out of the program if you work through all the examples and optional materials. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to go through everything during the course, but I like that we keep access to the materials afterward so I can continue learning at my own pace.

The communication throughout the program was also very clear. We regularly received reminders about classes, assignments, and upcoming deadlines, which made it easier to stay on track. Overall, the program provided very good support for participants.

Overall, I thought it was a great program with a good balance of lectures, hands-on learning, mentorship, and support.

It is with great pleasure that I share my very positive experience with taking the Applied AI and Data Science program through MIT Professional Education and the Great Learning platform. As a former software engineer, casually following AI since the late 80s, and later teaching AI as a computer science teacher, I was interested in taking this course to ‘catch up’ with the latest in the AI / ML space and, in particular, how Data Science was applying it in industry today to more efficiently solve modern day problems. I was impressed with the variety of levels at which you could learn the material, from very technical to non technical, from simply understanding the main topics to (optionally) diving in deeply and going beyond the program with additional materials provided by the MIT professors.  There is a lot to learn in this space, to fully understand and appreciate the impact of what AI and ML has and is making, and I feel that Great Learning and MIT jointly have done a great job putting together a hands-on curriculum that spreads the up-to-date knowledge of this space.I am a problem solver and educator by trade so there were many a-ha moments in the 14 weeks taking the course. I started seeing opportunities, in my every day, where the knowledge and tools I was learning could be applied. As time went on, I started seeing a match in job skills that employers were requesting and the skills I was learning in the class. It was exciting to become part of a community that understands how AI is a necessary tool to push us further in discovery and efficiency in our world. Everyone involved - the MIT professors, industry mentors, Great Learning support, project management, and my fellow learners were a community that made it easy to dive into this, sometimes dense, material because they helped get me unstuck so that I could move forward.We are solidly in the Information Age with easy access to tons of data. Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning will help us make use of this data to solve problems and make discoveries that we have not been able to do. I recommend this course to gain the knowledge and skills to get started. 

The MIT Applied AI & Data Science Program was a genuinely valuable experience. The curriculum ramped up thoughtfully; early weeks felt like review, but once we hit ML, deep learning, and generative AI, the content became deeply relevant to my day-to-day work with LLMs. Mentor sessions reinforced the recorded material and the case studies tied concepts to real business problems.What set this program apart was unequivocally the program management. Samuel Morris, was remarkably patient and flexible — accommodating extensions when life got in the way, surfacing alternative session times when I traveled, and consistently checking in on my progress. That level of support turned an online program into something that actually felt like a cohort. I'd recommend it to anyone balancing a full-time role with serious upskilling in AI/DS. Enlisting in this course was the right call, and I'm deeply grateful to Great Learning and MIT for constructing such a seamless, information-dense whirlwind of a program.

I was looking for a bootcamp that would give me both the philosophical and practical sides of data science and machine learning and this program fit the bill (and then some!). This program wasn't a bunch of management fluff; it was rigorous, hands-on, comprehensive, and relevant. The mentor sessions were especially helpful, as they tied everything together at the end of the week, answered questions in real time, and connected the lectures to real-life situations. 

It is an extremely well-structured course curriculum. The scheduling of the classes are conducted timely and the lectures are well-paced. Industry experts conducting the mentored sessions on the weekends are well-versed with the curriculum.To top it all, the program managers are very approachable and prompt with their response making it easier for the learner to navigate the  course.Highly recommended for people wanting to upskill with a structured guidance. 

I’ve had a fantastic experience with the program. It truly excels at bridging the gap between complex data science theory and real-world professional application. Balancing these rigorous studies with a demanding work schedule could have been overwhelming, but the exceptional support from both the mentors and the management team was a complete game-changer. Took the Applied AI and Data Science program through MIT and Great Learning.  Overall it was an excellent experience.  It was a considerable amount of work with the lectures and cohort meetings with great learning mentors. Challenging work but as someone involved with data science regularly it was hugely beneficial.

I've done bootcamps/online certifications before that were 10x the cost and offering less value and education than Great Learning has provided in this course! Highly recommend, it is packed with professionally curated projects, correctly paced weekly workload and a doable and timely progression through the material that can be completed part-time if you have industry experience or full-time if you're just beginning your journey. Very happy with my overall experience!

This program has been a fantastic learning experience!It allows you to span from the theoretical concepts to real problems applications. Online materials are extremely useful and allow you to review challenging topics even after.The program  requires commitment throughout the entire journey but It's worth it if you really want to deep dive into the Machine Learning applications and what's really behind AI.The course Is intense and well structured. I took the MIT Professional Education's Applied AI and Data Science Program through the Great Learning platform and the experience has been great. The instructors and program managers are super helpful, responsive, and flexible. The online program had the right amount of time commitment, challenges, and learnings I can take to my full time consulting job.

Coming from a technical background, I loved that all classes are live, with weekday sessions being optional. Being able to ask questions in real time directly to the professors helped me deeply understand the concepts. The mentor sessions are highly personalized since they work with small groups. The mentors truly care about your progress, offering practical tips and going into extra depth on any topic if you're struggling. It's perfectly structured, balanced for all levels. The content is perfectly structured and well-balanced; leaving the GenAI module for the end allows beginners to learn Python first. It truly inspires you to keep growing in the field.

Having completed this program as part of the 2026 cohort, I can say it was a genuinely rewarding experience. The live classes with MIT faculty stand out in particular; sessions are interactive and the instructors are deeply knowledgeable and engaged. There are some recorded materials sprinkled throughout, but face-to-face instruction with faculty is clearly at the core of the program.The course covers a lot of ground and moves at a fast pace, though it never felt unmanageable. The MIT faculty are approachable and responsive when questions come up, and Great Learning's mentors are consistently present to help you stay on track. Having both sides available throughout made a real difference.One aspect worth knowing upfront: while MIT faculty handle the bulk of the teaching, quizzes and capstone projects are evaluated by the Great Learning team. It's a collaborative structure that works well once you settle into the rhythm of the program.Overall, it's a well-organized program with a strong academic backbone. If you're looking to build a solid foundation in AI and data science, this is a worthwhile investment.

The MIT Applied AI & Data Science Program exceeded my expectations in both technical depth and practical application.What I appreciated the most was that the program was not limited to theory. It provided hands-on experience with real-world projects involving machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, data analysis, and business-oriented problem solving. The curriculum pushed me to think critically, structure analytical workflows properly, and communicate technical insights clearly.One of the strongest aspects of the program was the Capstone Project experience. Developing an end-to-end deep learning project for malaria detection allowed me to apply concepts such as CNN architectures, transfer learning, preprocessing pipelines, model evaluation, and performance optimization in a realistic scenario similar to industry-level work.The mentorship, structure, and academic rigor were excellent throughout the program.
