Le Wagon London - DON’T DO IT

Le Wagon London - how to blow lots of money very quickly and be left with nothing! At the very start of my journey to the Le Wagon London bootcamp, I was quite sceptical and had a number of phone calls and emails back and fourth with them. They of course make it sound/appear like they are the ones ‘interviewing’ you for a place on their bootcamp, giving you some false sense that this is a place where you would be lucky to be accepted. In reality from some of the people on my cohort couldn’t even speak English properly, you would have to wonder who is really being interviewed and why? To answer this, is quite simple, and having completed the Web Dev bootcamp, you start to see the Le Wagon business model and how clever it is, not from a student perspective unfortunately. Let’s start with the staff, in particularly the teaching staff. As of 2023 Le Wagon doesn’t seem to have any actual teachers as you may expect - and by this I mean someone with a PGCE PCET or similar, which enables them to teach in a post compulsory environment such as this. Instead these are people that seemed to have drifted into the jobs from vastly different backgrounds - manager of a cafe for example. I’m not here to have a go at individuals and question their qualifications, I think this would be something Le Wagon would fall down on, and this goes back to the model I was talking about earlier. When it comes to the bootcamp itself, each day presents a mix of a lecture and challenges (75% of the time), the challenges you work on with another leaner (buddy) and are ‘assisted’ by a number of TA’s (teaching assistants). Where have these TA’s come from I hear you ask? Are these not qualified teachers, trainee lecturer's etc? No, these are people just like you, who have simply done a bootcamp and now can’t get a real tech job, but to flower their CV, and importantly make the Le Wagon model work. The issues with this are vast. Mostly as you’re not actually being ‘taught’ by professionals and then you’re not being supported by ‘professionals’. Don’t get me wrong, some of the TA’s were lovely people and knew how to code, but in terms of the big picture… it’s starts to become clear that straight after this bootcamp that’s promising all these job prospects, the reality is, you will be lucky to be hired by them. By the time you’ve done a bootcamp and can’t find a job, the prospect of working here probably doesn’t sound so bad and so a percentage from every cohort seems to be hired, and so Le Wagon’s wheel keeps turning. The course content is outdated, tired and not particularly in demand by industry in 2023. Whilst the name of the course is Web Development, we spent less than 3 days doing any front end coding in 9 weeks, and even that coverage was poor/rushed and even talked down on by two course leaders who ‘preferred back end’ In terms of the way the course in delivered; it’s difficult to be positive about what felt like a work in progress that they changed daily to suit some annoying students that would would turn up late and disrupt everyone else. When this was brought up, eventually they locked the door and made them wait until lunch time to enter. This took months, but which point the damage had been done. All in all, imo this place is a waste of your money and your time, and will not get you a job in tech that you couldn’t have got through many different routes, all of which are cheaper and quicker.

A wonderful experience
The teachers was helpful and helped me to regain my confidence in coding. The most amazing was to build a website with my team from scratch. Then all the topics that I learned made sense. When I pitch the project, I was anxious but with all the support of the teachers, I presented it well. I wish I could restart it

Amazing experience!
It was an amazing experience at Le Wagon! All teachers were very friendly and always available to help. I managed to learn to code in only 2 months which seems quite little but all thanks to Le Wagon I did it!

Really great experience
Starting Le Wagon I had 0 coding experience, and wasn't confident in the fact in would be able to take much from the bootcamp in such a short space of time. I am now a month out of the bootcamp and can develop various complicated applications and found a new found love for web design which I never anticipated. Trust the process and you will not regret it.

Le Wagon Cape Town is amazing.
The course is structured really well and each topic covered flows from the previous one which really helps because the pace is really fast especially in the beginning. But you get used to it! It's a really cool environment which simulates a tech environment so well. I had the best time at Le Wagon Cape Town and I recommend it if you want to change or improve your life!

My reason for enrolling at Le Wagon was that I wanted to switch careers from tech sales to software engineering. I chose Le Wagon as it was the only in-person bootcamp in London and I felt that was best for my learning. This was the best decision ever as the campus is great and the culture fostered there is so positive and collaborative which leads to a strong learning environment. All the Le Wagon staff are so kind, patient and knowledgeable which really helped with picking up complex coding principles as a complete beginner. I would recommend Le Wagon to anyone looking to switch careers or develop their skills within web-development.

I liked that the bootcamp doesn't consist purely of lectures with teachers simply reading out content for the sake of it; the teachers here genuinely do care for students and build a rapport with you throughout the course of the bootcamp. From the first week there are welcome dinners, invites to talks from alumni and chats over drinks where you're welcome to ask your teachers more about their background, how they got started on coding and any advice they might have for career switchers like us.You can sense their vested interest in your progress especially during your final few weeks coding out your project that was beyond my expectation of how supportive bootcamp teachers would be. A hundred percent recommend!

Le Wagon has made my learning journey fun and enjoyable. I started my journey with Le Wagon with zero coding knowledge, but I am now interested to pick up other languages to continue my tech journey and I am certain that the curriculum has equipped me with a strong foundation required to learn other languages. The thought-provoking challenges that I had to work on daily has helped to reinforce what I have learned from the lectures. The instructors at Le Wagon have also been amazing at guiding me and they really made sure that I understood the concepts.

I didn't really have coding knowledge initially, and I was worried at first, but this school's curriculum was fantastic. The teachers were very kind, and each one of them had extensive knowledge, so I could get excellent advice from anyone I asked. What I particularly liked was the environment and atmosphere I could ask any questions about coding anytime. I visited other schools, but I believe this school has the best atmosphere and curriculum content without a doubt. I was amazed that I could create such a great app by the end of the bootcamp's final project. If there are people who are unsure about which school to attend, I recommend Le wagon Tokyo.

One of the best decisions I ever made
I joined Le Wagon being a Law student with and little dev background, but in just a couple of weeks, we were already there actively building products and coding as if I had done this for a while. The whole experience was amazing and sufficiently challenging to keep it entertaining. I really suggest this for anyone looking for a carrier pivot or simply those curious on learning something new.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience at this bootcamp. From day one, it was clear that this program was designed with students' success in mind. The instructors are not only experts in their field but also fantastic teachers. They took the time to explain complex concepts in a way that was easy to understand, and they were always available to answer questions and provide guidance.
The curriculum was incredibly comprehensive, covering all the essential topics and technologies in [specific field]. What set this bootcamp apart for me was the emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. We worked on real-world projects, which not only honed our skills but also gave us a portfolio to showcase to potential employers.
But it wasn't just the instructors and curriculum that made this bootcamp special. The sense of community and collaboration among students was remarkable. We learned from each other, supported one another, and formed valuable professional connections.
In the end, I graduated from this bootcamp with the confidence and skills needed to excel in my career. I landed a job shortly after completing the program, and I know that I owe a significant part of my success to this bootcamp. If you're serious about [specific field] and want to fast-track your career, I wholeheartedly recommend this bootcamp

This course is very good overall, the schedule is very compact and the classroom atmosphere is very friendly. There is one-to-one tutoring in the practical part, which is very helpful when learning new material. This is my favourite part. Occasionally there are some small activities for the students to relax, which gives them some time to buffer their mood during the whole high-pressure learning process.

A unique experience, the opportunity to have teachers and mentors available every day, along with colleagues with the same goal, makes learning extremely valuable and enjoyable. The events provided and the sense of community helps us stay motivated. It helped me develop skills throughout the entire process, such as teamwork, time management, and organization. Also, the networking opportunities during the bootcamp were invaluable.

I had no background in software development at all but was always very interested in technology. I chose LeWagon based on the opinions I've heard from friends who took the course and loved it, and I am very happy that I made this decision. In a bit over 2 months I was able to learn how to effectively launch a web application from 0 into production, which is just awesome. But, more important than that, I learned how to learn technical skills, which is simply invaluable.I was the kind of person who would try to study on my own, get discouraged/distracted, and give up after a week. Le Wagon gave me the structure and resources I needed to get started and now I am confident that I will be able to learn even more on my own.The environment is truly great, the staff is gentle and the students were the best. I truly believe I made friendships that will last during my time at Le Wagon. If you've been thinking about joining a BootCamp and are still on the fence about it, I'd tell you to take the leap of faith and just do it. It will open up your mind to new possibilities.

After 10+ years in the music business I knew I wanted something new. Coding had me intrigued for years and that is why I decided to enroll at Le Wagon's bootcamp in Porto! I was amazed by it's online reputation, specially on the international scene compared to other bootcamps I was looking at.The course was intense, as I expected it to be, but I was enticed by the course's structure. We would spend all day learning how to code and doing exercises without losing focus. The last fews weeks the classroom felt more like a company office as we all worked in teams to build our final projects. This was an incredible experience, we quickly got very passionate and proud of our projects. Before we knew it we were building fully functional websites in just a couple of days. And that's how, thanks to Le Wagon, in just a few weeks I learned how to code and completely changed my career path.

My experience at Le Wagon
Le Wagon's fullstack web development full-time bootcamp fully met my expectations regarding the content, the overall structure and community. I feel as though I learned possibly years-worth of content in the span of two months. I also made a lot of friends, both nation and international, and had valuable experiences that I believe will help me on my career in tech.
