The capital city of Barbados, Bridgetown has a metropolitan population of 110,000, and its main industries are tourism, the offshore sector, and the exports of sugar, rum, and molasses. Since the 1980s Barbados has been involved in data processing such as database management and insurance claims processing. Bridgetown is home to the University of the West Indies, and the Barbados Community College.
