My Experience with truecoders

Before starting this class, I had no previous knowledge of how to code. I worked as an engineer for a hotel in Birmingham and was forced to look for another job due to the virus. I have a friend that recently took the truecoders course and he said it was well worth the money and time. Taking the course, the teachers are incredibly helpful and will answer any question you may have. They also make it so that you can get help outside the class time if you need it. Finally, they are very advantageous when it comes to actually job searching and preparing you for that after the course is over. I highly recommend this course. -

Good content, good job assistance, great value

The pros are that you are taught how to code in C# in a down-to-earth manner. There are lessons that take you from ground-zero up to being able to handle databases and APIs. The instructor makes sure that any and all questions are answered, and the environment is such that one-on-one is universally available, so you never have to feel uncomfortable about asking for help. But besides this, there is plenty of material covered for the more advanced students to get practiced in the more in-depth topics.
Also the career-prep dedication is top-notch. My job search before attending TrueCoders was frustrating to say the least, in not finding appropriate openings and not getting any replies. But before the end of the course I had already found a prospective position that I was excited about and was in touch with the hiring team.
One more pro is the value and time commitment. This is one of the shorter bootcamps, which I believe to be a better approach than the longer ones. This leads to a con, that a longer bootcamp would provide more in-depth content (but being out of the workforce for a longer time) -

This course is a great introduction into the world of coding. All of the instructors are very patient and very understanding. I entered this program with no experience at all and I'm leaving the course with a confidence in my abilities to grow in the development field. -

Coming to TrueCoders I’ve learned that you will have a wonderful learning experience. Teachers that help you along the way even if you’re stuck on an assignment. I recommend everyone to come and learn about coding here. You will never feel dumb but will be pushed to learn more and obtain new skills daily. -

Trust the Process - Fast Paced Class

One thing that I continually reminded myself of throughout the course, was “trust the process”. I perpetually felt out of my depth in the early stages, due to how intense it was and how much information I was trying to fit in my brain in such a short space of time.
As time went on though, things got easier and started to make more sense. This was helped by lead instructor Michael Doyle who was extremely patient, respectful and genuinely wanted to see his students succeed.
There are only a few things I would change.....Better assessment of student's skills prior to the class starting. For instance, students with very little coding knowledge should definately consider the 6 month evening class. Also, I spent countless hours outside of class studying on my own with youtube videos.
At the beginning of the 9 weeks, I never anticipated being in the position I would be at the end of it and completing a final project with people that I genuinely enjoyed working with. To all the True Coders staff and my fellow students, thank you. -

I have been to multiple bootcamps to learn programming and I can say with certainty that TrueCoders is my favorite because of the teacher and the learning environment. Micheal Doyle is a great teacher because he is able to explain challenging concepts simply. In addition, Micheal encourages students to collaborate and help others. This in turn creates an atmosphere that is suited for learning and growth. -

TrueCoders was worth going through. We learned a lot of different and helpful concepts and they were always there to help whether it was job information or one on one time. It was definitely worth doing because my knowledge has expanded, and everyone there cares about you. But there are several things I would change with how they go about this. Also, PLEASE take what I say from the perspective of someone that has a difficult time in school (slow learner), new to coding, and has difficulty with creativity.
1. The 1 on 1 time (after class) is only 15 minutes, which is difficult to understand a concept you're struggling with in that amount of time. It can rush the teacher and the student and sometimes I felt just as lost coming out of it.
2. After learning one (sometimes two) concepts a day, we would only be given one exercise per concept to put what we learned into practice. I feel there should be more daily exercises from the beginning that would help us learn how to navigate through all the variations that can happen with each concept. We did have weekly challenges after several weeks of class that did this to a degree, but I think having challenges start from the beginning will be more helpful... so that if someone doesn't understand a concept early on, then it can be fixed sooner rather than later.
3. I felt lost on how to come up with new code on my own to practice my skills and concepts that I learned. Often, I felt that the best way I could do this was by finding Youtube videos and spending a lot of time outside of class trying to figure it out on my own. I understand that a lot of learning is trial and error and looking things up for yourself, especially in a 9-week program, but I did pay a lot of money for someone to teach me how to code, and I often felt they would lean on the fact that I can look stuff up for myself and self-teach. Not to say this isn't a good thing for some students, just not for me.
Overall, I would give TrueCoders 3 1/2 stars, because this is a place that does care about you and will do a lot for you if you ask, and you do learn important things to help you with code and job hunting. However, I felt like I could have been trained better and less stressed if the above was fixed in some way. -

I was enrolled set to start another coding bootcamp, and having to withdraw. The setback was a blessing in disguise as I found this bootcamp. Everything was 5-star from the instructors to the director. It is truly ran in excellence and lives up to the TrueCoders name. Even if you have never written a line of code in your life, you can be successful here. All of this for the $3595. Great Bargain!!!!! -

I researched many boot camps and ended up settling on TrueCoders due to the cost initially, but I was really swayed by the way they were willing to work with me before the class even started. I wasn't sure if I would be going back to work and so I was apprehensive about spending the money, but they assured me they would help me finish the course no matter what. This class was more than worth the money spent. Our instructor Michael Doyle was very patient and extremely knowledgable and always willing to help each one of us. I cannot stress how great he and Whit Stroup were! You can get time outside of class as well to work with an instructor on anything you need help with.
Job placement services were great too. They do everything but get you the job, offering assistance with resumes, LinkedIn, interview questions, assessment prep. -

When I first signed up for TrueCoders, I was a bit nervous that I would not understand the course. Boy was I wrong! The teachers led me through the course at such an excellent pace, that it gave me time to fully understand what they were teaching. Even though the basic language they teach is C#, they also threw in some Python and SQL. They also are very laid back, so when class is over we played ping-pong, video games, or you could hang around and work on improving your coding skills. All in all, I highly recommend this course to anyone who is even partially interested in the coding world. -

This is going to be a struggle if you're not sure what to expect. It was complicated for me at first simply because I underestimated the course. As time went on it got a lot easier and was more enjoyable as I learned new things and broadened my previous coding knowledge. I can say I'm happy I powered through with it, Michael was an awesome teacher and I appreciate all the dedication and work he put in to the class. This is definitely worth the time and effort. -

I was blessed to be a part of one of the first classes made available by TrueCoders. The workload was perfect, the curriculum was well developed, and the approach to pursuing a career afterwards was strategic and professional. Not only did I learn to program in C#, but I also learned the fundamental way of thinking like a programmer, therefore giving me the skill-set to transfer over to other programming languages. I also learned SQL, which is what I use now for my job as a business analyst for TD Bank. Daniel is driven and cares for each individual and constantly follows up with you, and on your behalf with potential employers. I cannot say enough good things about my time at TrueCoders and where it has landed me today. -

I was a part of Alpha class and my experience overall was very good. I had no prior programming experience and started with literally zero knowledge. The curriculum was very good as it structured around methods and practices that were relevant to the workplace. The instructors we had were tough, and challenged us to learn the information in a short amount of time to be qualified for the positions we desired. At the time seemed harsh but now that I have been working for a couple years appreciate the skill of 'learning on the fly'. Went on some interviews and landed a job about 4 1/2 months after graduating. The experience changed my life. Now I have skills necessary to build my career and future. Thanks TrueCoders! -

I was a part time employee at Wawa with aspirations to one day code for a living. when I heard about TrueCoders I decided to take the jump and see if I could learn how to code (something that seemed to complex to me) in such a short amount of time, and learn it well.
To my surprise, 4 months from the start of my course I was hired as a software developer at Proplogix coding in C#, Js, Ts, (and using the HTML and SQL skills I was as well) and have been with my company for over a year.
This class not only set me on my career path, this class set me up for success in life, not just with my ability to code, but with soft skills I will be using in job interviews for years to come. -

Making You Marketable

Programming had been a hobby of mine since high school, but I never did much with it. When I decided to change careers, I needed help rounding out my skills to become marketable. TrueCoders was a great experience for me, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to learn marketable programming skills, particularly for "backend" things like SQL and .NET Core. It's also great that they cover Git and GitHub, but where they really shine is helping you market yourself and being your advocate as you enter the job market. I'm now working for a great company as a backend developer and loving it!
In light of COVID-19, I also want to say that programming can usually be done remotely, and the market for it is not going away any time soon. If you've been debating about changing careers, I think there's never been a better time to explore this. It won't be easy, but the most worthwhile things never are. -

Before enrolling in TrueCoders, I had spent 9 years at Apple honing my people skills and working adjacent to the tech industry, but never really getting my hands directly into development. After deciding to pursue my dream career as a game developer, I founded a games studio and dove head first into learning the tools and programming languages I would need to make this dream a reality. That's where TrueCoders came in. I was recommended to TrueCoders by my brother Brandon, who had just completed the program and landed a great front-end development job in Birmingham. This course has really jump-started my personally journey to making my dream a reality, and the my future as a developer is now firmly in my own hands. -

Fun While Learning

While the curriculum is taken seriously, it isn't often you can have so much fun in a class while also really learning. The projects guided us through the application of core programming principles that would have felt very abstract without them. The instructor was more than willing to slow down or speed up the cadence of the class depending on our understanding, in which the rigidity of other schools (i.e. college) can hinder the true learning experience. It was also clear how established the instructor already is in the world of programming and the desire to spread that wealth of knowledge is real. More than that, the camaraderie established in the class creates a community of like minded individuals that completely round out the experience and always give you a fallback if you need additional assistance. I've recommended this class to all my friends and would recommend it to anyone who wants to better their programming skills.

I am graduating from TrueCoders this Friday! It has been an amazing experience and I have learned a ton while doing it. There are a couple of things that set this bootcamp apart from other bootcamps in Birmingham. First, this bootcamp has an actual classroom with real teachers that are there in person for you to interact with. Not just a collection of online courses and coursework. Second, there is a very strong focus on job placement, interview prep, resume prep, and just general professionalism. There are a couple of staff members that are there solely to prepare you to succeed in the professional world. About five of the other graduates already have jobs and the class isn't even over yet. All in all I have learned a ton and feel ready to interview for jobs in the tech world. It has been a great experience.

TrueCoders is a fantastic course for anyone who is either brand new to the tech field, or already has some previous programming experience. It is not an easy course for either level of experience!
The course goes beyond just lessons by incorporating 4-6 technical projects throughout the course, which is a great way to implement everything you will learn during class. The projects also help fill out your resume, which will help greatly in job placement.
Speaking of job placement, the folks at TrueCoders are incredibly committed to helping every single student find a job, both during your 10 weeks (or 6 months for the longer course), and after the course as well. I'm graduating tomorrow, but my experience with TrueCoders is not even close to being over! I will be coming in every day after graduation for job placement assistance, which other bootcamps might not be as comfortable with.

My class was made up of about 25 students ranging in age from 18 to 60. Some, like me, are changing career paths. Others students grew up around coding or didn't want to go the traditional college route.
I chose the 10 week daytime course, though TrueCoders also offers a 6 month evening course. Either way, know that you will be covering a lot if information very rapidly. It is hard! You will be frustrated. You will doubt your decision to enroll. You will wonder if coding is right for you. However, if you stick it out, it gets better. Concepts begin to gel and the different components come together.
It takes a big investment of both money and time. It's worth it. A lot of my fellow student s landed jobs before graduation. I'm confident my turn will come. TrueCoders will stand with you until you do.These are good people who really want you to be successful.

I researched several boot camps that would teach back end skills that are in demand. I had seen a TrueCoders advertisement and a few people suggested I reach out to them. Daniel replied to me within the hour and we were sitting down the next day. All of my questions were answered and it has been a good decision. The work is challenging but they provide you plenty of resources. The staff is very friendly and well-connected when it comes time to network and find that first job. They help you with resume, LinkedIn profiles, and interviewing skills. It's a very good value.

I was worried before I started that I would not understand anything or be able to keep up during class, but that was unfounded. The instructors take the time to make sure you fully understand the material and encourage questions and are willing to work with students after class hours. I feel much more confident in my coding abilities after these 10 weeks. TrueCoders also makes sure that students are ready for job interviews and I feel confident that I will soon land a job after graduating. After going through TrueCoders, I do not see how people would be able to learn as much through on line bootcamps.

Going into the course I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the curriculum. I always tended to stay away from coding because it looked incredibly daunting and foriegn. However, I chose to take a chance with TrueCoders after hearing about its sucess and I am so thankful I did. Now I feel confident in my ability to comfortably code and feel I can take on projects that come my way. The classroom dynamic allows each student to have inidivdual assistance from the teacher (something that I find is an obstacle in online bootcamps) and the practical coding education is paired well with the job placement aspect of the course that helps connects the student with jobs all over Birmingham due to TrueCoders outstanding reputation.
If you want to pursue a career in coding, this is 100% the course you need to take. You will not be able to find a better bootcamp!

TrueCoders = Life Changing
Most of my working life has been spent under the $13/hr mark, and now, because of the training and experience I gained in 10 weeks, I'm now working in a career making a salary over 50k a year. I'm definitely getting out everything I put in.
