I just completed my Python course. I have to say the people at the Tech Academy are super awesome. The instructors are really helpful, and the instructors for the live project were fantastic to work for.
I did it very fast pace as I was working full-time and doing the full-time schedule but they gave me some extra time to complete the project. Also, I had some life circumstances happen where I was not ready to take a tech job right away so they were really great in working with me and giving me extra time in the job placement course. I ended up deciding to go in the UX/UI design so I am doing that through The Tech Academy as well.
My only critiques on the course materials are, (and this is minor) is the video production quality could be a bit better, and I wish the course was a bit more Mac friendly, but it's still great content regardless. -

I recently graduated from the C#/.NET Framework boot camp at The Tech Academy. The curriculum is great, starting the student out with Computer & Technology basics course and moving into Software Development overview, Version Control, GitHub, HTML, JavaScript, SQL & Databases, Visual Studio and C#/.NET Framework. The courses work is done in a gradient manner starting off with the basics and moving into more challenging topics. The assignments and challenges test your knowledge and ability to take what you've learned and research to build on it to find the solutions. The final Live Project is an Excellent experience and introduction to working in a development environment. The instructors at The Tech Academy are always there to help and are very responsive. This is a self paced boot camp, and you need to be disciplined in order to keep up and stay on track. The school is very understanding if family emergencies arise as well. I came into this with a Technical background, but the way they lay out the courses, anyone technical or not can become software developer. Glad I picked The Tech Academy and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to change careers or further they're technical knowledge to make a move into another tech career as I've done. -

This bootcamp was an amazing experience for me! The course material is great! They can work you up from no knowledge to being able to land a junior dev job in short order. The online part-time option was great for me, as someone currently employed and father of two young children. I know a coworker that went through this program too and he also has young children. It is a rigorous curriculum and you will be challenged, but it is doable. I also want to mentioned how incredibly supportive and helpful the instructors are. They are responsive and always willing to help. They don’t just give you the answers either, they guide you to where you need to be to figure it out. Can’t say enough good things about this bootcamp! Best career decision I ever made in my life!Forest Moher of The Tech Academy

I was looking to refresh my skills as a developer and pick up a new tech stack in the process. After doing some research I finally settled on The Tech Academy's C# and .NET Developer Bootcamp. My experience with the program was great! Their program was extremely thorough, covering everything from the fundamentals of computer basics to HTML and CSS3 to JavaScript to C# and .NET. The program's self-paced nature matched exactly what I was looking for in a Bootcamp and fit well within my schedule. The instructors were extremely helpful throughout the program, always willing to help out when you need it, and always attentive to your needs. The curriculum will give you a firm foundation to build upon as you look to build your career in software development. The Live Project course was a terrific experience that gives you real-world experience in building software. Overall, I'd recommend The Tech Academy for anyone looking to start off their career in software development.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

Wonderful Choice!
As a current student of the tech Academy it’s an awesome school to be a part of, the instructors have spent hours helping me whenever needed and the course work is fairly easy to understand, they take a “build from the ground up” approach which is very helpful to someone with no prior background! I really really loved this bootcamp.
I knew almost nothing about programming or web development prior to starting. The way the bootcamp is laid out builds from one concept to the next. The instructors make sure you fully understand each fundamental before moving onto the next which makes sure you really get the basics of programming.
After a few weeks of graduating I got a job as a web developer at a digital marketing agency.
I was nervous that I wouldn’t know how to do the job as I am now considered a “professional”. I can say easily that the Tech Academy set me up so I can be a web developer “professionally” and I know what I’m doing.
I would highly recommend this bootcamp as they want you to succeed as much as you do.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

I really don't have a lot to say but one thing I know is that the Tech Academy is the best Bootcamp out there. During my time at the Tech Academy, I learned a lot; they got a lot of drills to help you be a better developer, they support you every day even on weekends. After I graduated from the Tech Academy, I have been working with the job placement and they are doing some amazing jobs to help me get to my goal and land a job. I am a recent graduate of The Tech Academy (Python Bootcamp, Full-Time, Online) and I have absolutely no complaints with my experience and time with this great program. From the beginning of your first course, it is very apparent that the instructors and staff care greatly for the students and treat them as humans and not just a number in the system. All of the instructors and staff I interacted with were extremely respectful, kind, and helpful with anything I needed. And their communication was very timely and informative, as I rarely waited long for a response to an inquiry. The curriculum is heavily geared towards beginners, as opposed to many other boot camps I researched who claimed the same thing, yet required a coding intensive "acceptance exam". This is not the case with The Tech Academy.
I had previously taken a few college computer science courses before entering this program, so I had a bit of a head start, but I have left this boot camp knowing more and having the ability to do much more than before. I was able to refine and improve my skills with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and SQL, among others, thanks to the informative courses and detailed assignments. While I cannot speak for the other boot camps The Tech Academy offers, I can say that the Python Bootcamp is more geared towards Web Development. It is a great intro for anyone who is a beginner or looking into getting into web development, with a little bit of software development mixed in. Although, if you're looking for a more software/algorithm based curriculum, you may want to look at the other boot camps offered. Many of the intro courses you're given in your boot camp, are covered in all of the other boot camps as well and this ensures everyone at least knows the basics of coding and development by the end of their curriculum. For anyone looking into the computer science or coding world, even the most beginners of beginners, I can't recommend The Tech Academy enough. Their helpful and respectful staff paired with their informative curriculum will definitely help you achieve your goals.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

I scheduled to attend The Tech Academy March 23rd of 2020, saved up my money, and put my two weeks in at my job to spend 6 months off before the COVID pandemic happened. It was coincidental timing with my plans but worked out in my favor. I moved out to a small town in North Florida and immersed myself in the curriculum. I spent 40+ hours a week studying remotely and pushing myself to take in as much as I could during my work hiatus. It was totally worth it. The lessons were informative and the instructors were attentive. Any questions I've had before, during and after my attendance to the school were addressed quickly and professionally. I recommend this school to anyone who is considering becoming a software developer. With the help of Samantha from job placement, this course, and two months of job hunting, I landed a job at a major bank and am currently pushing myself to learn more because of the curriculum and personalities from The Tech Academy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

When I first came to The Tech Academy I was a 3D character animator trying to get my foot in the door of the Gaming Industry. I am an artistic person and coding was something I had a bias against due to a poorly designed high school class. Thinking I could never work with code for the 5 years I spent trying to get a job in games I eventually gave in and decided I should try to give it a shot. The Tech Academy attracted my attention for it’s format of being a school where people who have barely worked with a computer to the savvy individuals can go through this course and where you can work locally or from home. Being someone who thought I could never learn how to code thought this was the best option for me and it was a great decision. The Tech Academy’s courses were designed for easy understanding and great explanations of the fundamentals which helped a lot when I moved onto more complicated assignments. The Tech Academy is a school where the payoff of the program is attributed to the time and energy you put into the program. It can be easy to get distracted or decide to finish early in the day’s work. So make sure you are dedicated to the program. Being local, I enjoyed the setting of a work space, immediate access to instructors if I needed help, a break room, and having the live projects for my portfolio when I finished their Job Placement course getting myself set up for a smooth transition from school to applying.Overall, it’s a great school if you’re just starting out and need an easy guide into the more complex world of tech.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

Forget everything you've ever known about resumes, cover letters, and interviews.
The Tech Academy will show you - in precise detail - EXACTLY what you need to do to get a job in tech. Every step of the process is covered, and they will tell you how to manage your resume, portfolio, and LinkedIn profile. You will learn how to interview in tech, just what to do, what to say, and how to act. Moreover, you will be personally assigned a member of their fantastic job placement team. This person will teach you, motivate you, and hold your hand throughout the entire search process until you land your first job. I cannot overstate the value of this.
But don't think that's all there is to the Tech Academy. By the time you make it to the Job Placement Course, you will be equipped with all the necessary tools to perform your job as a junior developer. The entire program is geared toward just that end. It will supply you with a full battery of computer languages, front end to back , along with the necessary skills of version control and program management, without which your language skills are useless in a real programming job. But most importantly, the Tech Academy will teach you how to think like a programmer.

This boot camp was fantastic. It starts you off just clearing up a ton of technical terms that without them you would be lost. Most courses I've seen elsewhere just have you start coding right off the bat. This one gives you all the data you need so by the time you start coding you actually get what you're doing. Having that foundation makes writing code so much easier.
I learned so much going through the different courses but the Live Project at the end was what brought my certainty in. I learned so much leading up to it but when I did the Live Project I really felt like I could use it and actually work with a team to get create something. It remind me of what I knew and with the foundation I had I was able to learn more about handling the task in front of me.
The instructors were extremely helpful and were always around to help me as soon as I needed it. The job placement team was also awesome. They were with me every step of the way.
If you're looking for one, I 100% suggest you do this boot camp.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

The founders know what it takes to make it in this industry and you get to utilize that experience while intimately personalizing your development. It takes focus and determination to master the courses, however, these are a couple of the core competencies you’d need to be a professional developer. The learning here is multiple levels deep. Learning inception!
They teach you how to think like a developer, not just develop. It a lifelong skill and signing up for this industry is signing up for a life of learning. There’s no better place to start than at The Tech Academy.

Best educational experience of my entire life- I did the Software Developer Bootcamp, absolutely worth my time and money. I was really happy with the quality of the courses, the instructors, and the flexibility of the program. Another thing I liked quite a bit was the progress bar showing how close you are to completing the bootcamp- the dopamine rush that came as you slowly inched closer to 100% was a reward in and of itself. I had a personal emergency and had to take time off of working on the bootcamp- everyone was extremely accommodating of me and gave me an extension for free- I will eternally be grateful for that. The flexibility of being able to work from home or at the campus was incredible too, I didn't really need to get a ton of help because the course content was that easy to understand, but when I did I asked the instructors who gave me crystal clear responses and were super helpful.
The only thing I didn't like was the job placement course, I found the job placement director to be rude and unprofessional. Aside from that, it's a great place to go- the campus is really nice and clean, and towards the end they even allowed dogs- which was a truly exceptional touch.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

This school is a self paced program and it’s great for individuals who are working and parents. To be honest, I was skeptical about coding boot camps. But, since I’ve done a lot of research about boot camps, it made me realize that this is a great opportunity for a change of career in a short amount of time. The course is difficult, but the challenges and the reward of solving a problems are very rewarding for me. All of my instructors are well-informed professionals. They help you understand the problem, even if your studying remotely. The response time is fast and accurate. Sometimes I felt a little embarrassed of all the questions that I ask, but I wanted to learn so bad. The tech Academy is one of the best schools and I will surely recommend it. Thanks tech academy. Shout out to Jordan VanWyhe, Ben and Mika for patiently helping me with my coding problems. These individuals are such great instructors. I will visit Oregon next year and give them my sincere gratitude.

I was looking for a career change that wouldn't require a four year degree. I already knew someone who had attended Tech Academy and done really well for themselves afterwards and decided to look more into it. Everyone I talked to was a great resource and helped me with deciding if Tech Academy and coding would be a good fit for me. I ended up taking the leap and enrolling - it was the best decision! It was unlike anything I had ever done before, but the curriculum started out with the basics so anyone could understand and built up in a way that made sense. I enjoyed the flexibility as you work at your own pace and your own schedule. Having two children, it was great to be able to adjust my days on campus for when there was a day off school or sick day. I could also work from home since all the course are available online. The instructors at Tech Academy are all very accessible and knowledgeable, they've even gone through the program themselves so they know what you are working on. They even have a job placement course that teaches you all you need to know about applying, interviewing, and technical testing to get a job. It was so different and more intense that I can experienced in my previous job searches. The job placement team is amazing at backing you up, giving advice, and just general support. They really want you to succeed!
Overall, coding boot camp from The Tech Academy is wonderful, thorough, and I am so glad I made the leap into the software development field. I just got my first job and can't wait to begin using my new education and skills to build a career! -

Good Experience

I am a 56 year old IT professional and was looking to add some coding skills to my portfolio so I recently attended (and graduated from) The Tech Academy. The course gets increasingly difficult and demands a firm dedication to a schedule in order to complete the curriculum on time. Instructors are typically former students who are friendly, familiar with the material, and very helpful, but not experts in the coding language you are learning so finding answers to problems can be somewhat difficult. Assignments force you to think and work out solutions - much of the time on your own - which is good to a point. My only grumble is that the teaching videos are very unpolished, with no index or menu system, and minimal video controls, which makes it very time consuming to review previous sections or to find or search for talking points. I believe they are working on fixing these issues. The school really cares about your success, however, and is very responsive in helping you with any issues that may be holding you back.

I started looking into doing a software development boot camp at the beginning of 2018 but was always unsure of whether or not it was worth the time and money given the fact that they are still a somewhat new concept. When researching, I noticed that all the camps had a very different approach in the way that they teach, their thoroughness of subject, and the curriculum itself which is largely user regulated with reviews since no standards have been set by any official organizations. After reading hundreds of reviews I settled on a few choices to pick from but ultimately decided to enroll in The Tech Academy for a few reasons.
For one, the camp was offered almost completely online for students to be able to complete all over the world, and they had the option of going to a campus located near me in Renton Washington whenever I wanted help or needed a work friendly environment. The ability to complete the program online with the option to go to a campus was something I was really interested in and the fact it was online meant I didn't have to quit my job to work around it. The Tech Academy also had been reviewed quite well and the graduates seemed to have a good opinion of it. Finally, The Tech Academy had a well-rounded curriculum that I thought would be the most beneficial for giving me real-world skills that would be marketable when it came to getting hired such as JavaScript and .NET Framework training.
Ultimately, I'm very glad that I ended up choosing The Tech Academy for one major reason. The people and instructors that I worked with were truly top-notch individuals who care about your learning experience and want to see you grow successfully as a developer. I worked mainly with the two instructors from the Renton campus Michael and Zachary, and the job placement director assigned to me, Chris. These guys are rock stars and ALWAYS made themselves available when I needed help. They also exhibited patience, care, kindness, and a desire to see their students succeed. I owe a lot to these guys as they taught me a very valuable and difficult skill which is not something easy to do for beginners in coding. They alone made every penny I spent on the boot camp worth it.
My one major criticism is that the curriculum changes rapidly in order to constantly be upgrading it and making it better. This is bitter-sweet as it does mean they're always working on making it better, but it also means that the curriculum is sometimes ahead of the instructors and you might miss something they added after you had already completed that section. The good news is that once you graduate, you can always go back as you only get cut off from the online learning system if you don't graduate.
A major thank you to The Tech Academy staff from the bottom of my heart. You guys did a great job and I am forever grateful.
My advice for individuals thinking about attending a coding boot camp:
1. You'll have a lot of people and articles tell you a lot of negative things about boot camps. I.E. "It's a scam", "You can't learn to code in a short amount of time", "You won't get hired without a bachelors in CS", etc. I suggest ignoring all of this because in my findings these people have not only not attended a boot camp, but have also never even met a person who attended one in most cases. Additionally, I have found most of these criticisms to be flat out incorrect. Only you and you alone can make the decision if a boot camp is right for you. Personally, I was very hesitant at first, but am very happy I ignored that and completed the boot camp. It was a great experience, I learned a great deal, and don't regret a second of it. Worth every dollar and hour.
2. It will be very very difficult. I know you think you know how difficult it will be, but chances are that you're underestimating it. I worked part-time while attending so might have had a harder experience than someone who wasn't working at all, but either way, it is going to be very hard and you need to be mentally ready for that. It's full of emotional ups and downs and there will be things that take hours if not days to actually understand properly. Expect to have to do this full time and give it undivided attention.
3. DO RESEARCH. As mentioned above there are a ton of boot camps, and there is no regulation on them. Some of them are probably not very good, so read reviews, call the school armed with many questions, and read as much as you can about them online.
4. Treat the camp like a gym membership in the sense that you're only going to get out of it what you put into it. No one can learn these skills for you, and the instructors are not miracle workers. The onus of learning is on you and you alone. They provide you with the tools, but you are the one that has to use them to your advantage.
Hope this helps. Please reach out to me if you would like to ask any specific questions. -

Material was great. Instructors were great. Fellow students were great. The free pizza every Friday during our tech talks, fabulous. The hands on experience with live projects and practice interviewing holds the most substance for this program. You can learn syntax and language adherence through free online sources however the hands on learning is by far greater than any. The Tech Academy taught me the recipe for success through resume creation, cover letter, applying myself, and Acing my interview. I wish you all the best of luck in completing this course as there is a ton you must know before breaking into the tech industry.

I had a great experience with the Tech Academy. The instuctors are knowledgable and very helpful. The way the course work is constructed is what drew me to enroll, because I could start at any time and do the courses at home or at the academy. My overall experience with The Tech Academy was wonderful. I went in knowing a lot about computers but nothing about software development. The instructors are awesome and super nice, they are there to answer your questions no matter how dumb you may feel when asking them. It is a very relaxed feeling and you just feel like you're right at home in the building.
My only "gripe", if you even want to call it that, is the amount of time spent on some languages. It is a short course that is designed perfectly, and I in no way am saying it isn't, but I would have liked to spend more time on languages like JavaScript. (I am doing lots of self-learning on my off time - python, JavaScript, AWS certification, etc..) They have a monster course on C# (the main one) which is ultimately how I got my job as well, so obviously it all works out in the end!
Overall I would say that this is ENTIRELY worth it. Lots of companies will give you a cold shoulder because you don't have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or Computer Engineering or whatever - but don't let this deter you! Keep applying and keep making good impressions, it will pay off in the end!

Hi Rhys, thanks for your review! Very well done on landing a C# job! I totally understand what you mentioned about JavaScript, and indeed there are entire bootcamps dedicated solely to JS, because you're right: it's extremely pertinent. I'm positive you know enough about it now to be able to learn more on the job as you're getting more experience, which is exactly what we go for with our graduates. Not that they know everything, but that they know enough and have learned how to research more and grow on the job. Again, very well done, and best of luck in your career!

I came to The Tech Academy from a different career path with little to no experience in coding. I wanted a change and thought that coding was the way I wanted to go. I took the leap and enrolled in The Tech Academy and I couldn't be happier having just got a software job at my dream company. The instructors were very helpful whenever I needed them and I loved going to the soft-skills and technical roundtables each week (interviewing practice). They helped me prepare for interviews and set myself up for success.
The self-paced aspect is really what caught my eye when I was researching bootcamps. It allowed me to spend extra time on parts that I thought I needed it, and allowed me to speed through parts I picked up quickly. It made it so I never felt over or underwhelmed. You get out of the program what you put in.
Overall I'm very happy with my decision to attend the The Tech Academy and I can't wait to continue my career in software.

The Tech Academy was the best thing that could happen to me. I had no programming background and to be honest no idea what to do with programming when I will finish the school. I knew programming might be for me and I found out that it is one of the best profession of the present/future. I still didn't know what I'm gonna do with it exactly and how.
Somewhere in the middle of the curriculum, it became crystal clear. You can do whatever you want with it. I felt relieved. I could choose my own path without worrying what will others think. So I became a game developer using C#. And the school gave me all the tools I needed. The ability to learn nearly anything I need for my new Adventure.
As a Chinese proverb says: “You give a poor man a fish and you feed him for a day. You teach him to fish and you give him an occupation that will feed him for a lifetime.”
I got my new occupation and I'm forever grateful to everyone at The Tech Academy.

I had a really good time at the Tech Academy. The instructors and everyone involved around the actually courses were very helpful and they really care about your progress.
You will never find a place where it will be easy learning how to program, but I always felt motivated going to the course room which led to that I spent almost every day studying. The course room I Portland kind of became my second home.
The Bootcamp was really beneficial for me and it had everything I asked for. It is just up to you to put in the work necessary. The Tech Academy has a solid curriculum and the people involved really want you to succeed.
Best of luck!

I learned so much attending this school. All of my studies were done online. The instructors were most helpful and always responded in a timely manner.

I had a great experience with The Tech Academy! If I could go back, I would definitely suggest being an on-site student instead of remote, as the school suggests. Through the bootcamp course, I went from having no coding experience, to choosing between 2 developer role offers within 2 months of finishing the coursework. You are able to choose your pace and the school cares about your progress as they are incentivized to get you hired. In the job search process, Aaron is an incredible resource who does all he can to keep you motivated and get you employed. The total tuition rate when I started was around $8,000, which is less than half of the total cost for most other bootcamps.
My only advice would be to update some of the material, specifically the C# section, which is mostly taught on software that is no longer available (Visual Studio 2013 Express). Also, I think the option for external internships at the end of the coursework would help in finding a job and add to real world experience. Regardless, the school does exactly what it sets out to do exceptionally well - teach web and software development fundamentals and help you change careers. All at an unbeatable cost.

Hey Seth, thanks for the review and well done on getting 2 offers and landing a job! You have a great point on the needed updates on the C# Course. We're very excited that soon we'll have a brand new C# Course with fully upgraded content! -

I enrolled in The Tech Academy and immediately started in March of 2015.
I was working full-time and spent as much time as possible on the coursework as possible. During one of the 'Tech Talks', one of the speakers had said that the best advice they could offer was putting this first. I agreed and had saved up enough money for expenses to last 6 months. It was by far the best decision I made and I always tell the incoming students, that are reffered to me, the same thing.
About 5 months later I started the job placement course and started looking for work, while starting the C# course. I applied to this company in Beaverton and the rest is history. I was hired before officially completing all the courses and have been with the company since.
If you are looking for a coding boot camp that really works with you, want a diverse programming curriculum, and puts you and your goals first - choose The Tech Academy. Their interview practice and job description breakdowns really helped me succeed and land an amazing job.

When I decided to change careers, I was initially concerned that I would not be able to manage a traditional college degree as it would take too long and cost too much. When I heard about coding boot camps this was the obvious choice. I decided on attending The Tech Academy because of their flexible schedule. You can study any time 24/7 remotely via their online resources. Also, their track-record for graduates getting jobs in the software industry is excellent. And the price is completely affordable, especially when you factor in the average salary of an experienced programmer.
The instructors are very friendly and helpful. And, the job placement staff are personally invested in your success. This really sets The Tech Academy apart from many other educational institutions. The academy not only offers a well-developed curriculum targeted at getting you ready for a career, they also offer interview training, resume development and employment searching advice. That’s such a great feature.

The Tech Academy bootcamp has opened the door for a new chapter in my life. While I knew going into the program that the curriculum was well put together, I was very impressed with how interactive and involved the instructors were with the students -- even when we had to work remotely. I was able to attend in person a few times but found that I ended up having to work remotely more often than I initially expected I would. The instructors did an amazing job staying in contact with me, keeping me encouraged, and helping me stay on track. When I had a question or a problem, the response time was very good, and I was able to make steady progress. I highly recommend this bootcamp if you need to do one remotely and know that you're going to need regular encouragement.

I graduated from the Tech Academy in downtown Portland after about six months of studying their material for 6-8 hours a day, M-F. It really is a great springboard into tech, especially in PDX where the industry is booming. If you know for a fact that you are interested in software development as a career, this is a great place to learn a little bit of everything. It is up to the students topace themselves through the material, but the instructors are right there ready to help if you get stuck. The Tech Academy also staffs some awesome live project leads and job placement specialists. They really do a great job of preparing you to interview and enter the workforce by doing weekly round-tables on site. As a student, you will learn front-end design, database management, object oriented programming, and job search skills. The material is tailored to meet the industry's latest demands and the final project does a great job of tying everything together. I can't speak for other schools, but the Tech Academy is awesome!

The support was great. The curriculum uses different online videos to teach the various languages and follows up with a personal coding challenge at the end. Lots of support if needed.Danny Condon of The Tech Academy

Self-Paced and Remote

I enrolled at The Tech Academy after researching many, many schools. The Tech Academy was the only school offering more courses at a lower cost and a student can study from a remote environment, which was the best method for me versus traditional in-classroom study. The instructors provided great feedback and were tremendous resources that didn't give you answers to problems but pushed you in the right direction to become a better problem solver. I never once felt alone even when working remotely. The school also was really supportive when I discussed what my goals were and what I wanted to do in tech that they allowed me to study courses that would help in that direction. The curriculum does give you a very base level knowledge of each language, but if you want to work in tech, you have to continue your education no matter what. There is always something new to learn and build on for the rest of your career. I had trouble in my job search only because I lived in such a saturated tech city; however, with the support of the job placement coordinators, I found opportunities with jobs looking for remote workers and snagged interviews. I now work with a company that liked me so much, they created a position for me that can build on my skills that I learned at the school and are also open to my feedback and ideas for improvements that I've never experienced before.
