Amazing campus staff, horrible handling of misconduct

The staff are absolutely fantastic, they all are deeply invested in their students' success and growth. My instructor was Steve, he was an amazing instructor who is passionate about his job and very effective at teaching, and is a lot of fun to be in class with! You can see the genuine care he has for his students and their experience, which is a breath of fresh air from most learning/training programs I've been through. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and experienced, and I felt comfortable approaching any of the instructors if I needed help or had questions. The program has solid structure, as well as consistent resources for students who are in need of assistance. The Pathway Directors are all committed to helping you find your best path and right fit. 5/5 for the Instructors, Curriculum, and Job Assistance.
I can't give the overall experience a 5/5, as much as I would like to, as some of my classmates and I had serious problems with one classmate harassing and discriminating against multiple people. We submitted written, detailed documentation of everything this classmate had done to us, and the compliance team simply moved the student online (after leaving him in class with us for a few weeks while investigating) and let him complete the program with no actual repercussions for his actions. This student violated the student handbook on multiple points, but they did not care because after we initially reported him and he was first talked to while it was under investigation, he closed himself off from nearly everyone and did not commit any further offenses. Everyone at the school who was aware of the situation was horrified by their poor handling of the situation, but there has been nothing we could do about it. A few of us victimized students had a long discussion with two people from compliance, wherein we expressed our concerns and clarified the severity of what he did and the threat he was posing to our safety, to no avail. Unfortunately, this experience has put a stain on Tech Elevator's reputation.Madeline Khurma of Tech Elevator

Great place to start a new career
Before Tech Elevator, my background was entirely in music. The team at TE prepared me wonderfully for a pivot into software development and coding, and I feel confident going into my first job post-graduation. Beyond all of the learning, Tech Elevator is simply a lot of fun! -

I had such an warm and amazing experience at Tech Elevator's Pittsburgh in person program. All instructors were all caring, kind, and knowledgeable. They constantly demonstrated that were willing to go above and beyond to ensure every student's success. The Pathway program equally deserves those same merits. Coming from a Social Services background with no Tech Industry experience, I was able to transform my life and get a wonderful career in the Software field. I cant recommend TE Pittsburgh enough! -

Excellent boot camp

I would, without hesitation, recommend Tech Elevator to anyone in Pittsburgh who is looking to start a career in software development. My instructor, Walt, was excellent, and the other 2 instructors seemed just as great. It's a wonderful and intense curriculum. I simply cannot believe the amount of knowledge and skills that I accumulated in such a short time. I won't lie; it's a lot of work, and you'll make yourself stick out by spending time at night working on side projects. Finally, the pathway program, run by Ellen and Julie, is the icing on the cake. I went from dreading job interviews to being more comfortable with them than I would have ever imagined. Aside from the robust job-seeking skill building, the opportunities to interact with employers, especially the matchmaking event, are indispensable. About 1 month after graduation, I started my first job in the field, which I am completely satisfied with, and which is with an employer that I connected with while at Tech Elevator. -

I've worked in IT for several years and have a BS in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. However, this 14-week bootcamp has been the most rewarding and intense learning experience. With well-versed instructors from various technical backgrounds, the lessons were well-organized and more than prepared us to work in the real world. The real gem was the Pathway program and being able to practice elevator pitches, perfect resumes, and hone our interviewing skills. I will always cherish the incredibly talented people I've met there that transformed me into a better student, programmer, and overall person. Successful Career Change!
After 18 years in restaurants and retail, Tech Elevator gave me the tools necessary to become a software developer. More importantly, they provided employer matchmaking and career guidance to help me land a new job in the tech industry. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a career change but doesn’t know where to begin! -

I attended Tech Elevator at the height of the pandemic so my course was online and remote which came with its own difficulties but the Tech Elevator team did everything possible to make the experience fantastic and inclusive. The instructors (even the ones you aren't directly working with) were always willing to help and go over material or discuss different applications and real world scenarios. They really put an emphasis on the students learning the underline material and not just being able to solve the question in front of them. My 2 qualms with the program were my assigned pathway director didn't seem very interested in my thoughts about what I wanted but there were other pathway directors and campus directors that were willing to help after reaching out. Also, when you get to the end of the course, you get to pick from a list of companies you want to interview with and I had selected a company I was very excited about and prepared heavily for, just to get to the interview and they weren't actually hiring for someone of our level. That being said, I accepted a position before the capstone project was over and couldn't be happier with my decision to reinvest in myself through Tech Elevator -

I was looking to change careers after years of working in a field I wasn't happy with. My husband did Tech Elevator and loved his experience, so I felt very comfortable knowing I was in good hands! I did NLR which I found to be very well designed for remote learning and interacting with instructors and classmates. The work is intriguing and keeps you pulled in, which providing a challenge with good resources around. Pathway was also a great help in preparing me for the job search. I have recommended it to multiple people and will continue to do so. -

Life Changing Decision
Absolutely the right decision, and worth every penny. A challenging but highly rewarding learning environment staffed by people who genuinely want you to succeed. In just 3 months I went from 0 coding experience (and 0 job prospects) to a great career as a developer—I accepted the offer on the day of graduation! -

Amazing Program! Great Career Support

Tech Elevator was a great experience. I came into the program with a great deal of college programming experience (no degree CS degree, but a science degree) and found the coursework pretty easy but very good practice. The workload was relatively light most days for someone with coding experience, but the real value was in the Pathway program that Tech Elevator has. Pathway is basically career counseling that will help prepare you for applying, interviewing, negotiating, and starting at your new job. I can't express enough how helpful the Pathway program was, it gave me the confidence that I needed to get a job, and I had one lined up before I graduated, which was a great weight off of my shoulders. The first two thirds of the program are relatively straight forward, but the final part of the program (the truly full-stack portion) was very rigorous and great experience to have. All of the instructors I interacted with were also incredibly helpful regardless of whose class you were in. -

Worth the investment
Tech Elevator is a wonderful experience with great people as I’m sure you will hear. But I want to emphasize that it is a great investment. As a former high school science teacher, I was able to double my salary thanks to TE. Risks can be scary, but this one is low risk high reward. -

I joined Tech Elevator in November of 2020 after being laid off from my job of 21 years as a Director of Operations for a small local restaurant company. The great people at Ohio Means Jobs offered me an opportunity to join their re-skilling program and make a career pivot. While the work of learning not only how to write, read and code was difficult in this fast paced environment. The structure of the program combined with the passion of the staff helped to make it manageable. The instructors are very knowledgable, the Pathway team does a wonderful job getting you ready for job interviews and the Campus Support team truly cares about your experience.
My experience was only available online due to Covid protocol, I understand that they have opened up in person learning now as well in several midwest cities.
For anyone interested in this program, they have a vast array of information available on their website to help answer any question. There is an online aptitude test to see if coding is right for you. They also have online open houses and how to pay for coding bootcamp seminars available to attend on line several times per month. -

Changed my life forever

My time at Tech Elevator was life changing, and I mean that in every aspect possible. I joined Tech Elevator after graduating in the middle of Covid with a Business degree and no job. I was unsure at where my life was going to go at that point, and I decided to take the challenge and go after this opportunity. I would like to emphasize that this was the greatest decision that I made. Not only did I find the passion for what I want to do with the rest of my life, but I also met some incredible people along the way. My instructors, Margaret Green and Andy Chong helped me learn so much in the world of software engineering! They also helped me grow as a learner and person and were so supportive along the way. They were excellent teachers and mentors, that supported us all so much through the good times, and also the times when I struggled. Peggy Kachevas and Laura Coffee, our pathway instructors, put us in such a good position to land a career in tech. They helped me navigate the interview process, both technical and non-technical, and gave me the keys to success in my interviews! They also helped us with Resumes that would stick out, LinkedIn Profiles, and helped us during the matchmaking process to potential employers. Rita Stall, the National Live Remote director, was the first person I talked to before being joining Tech Elevator. She gave me such a good insight into the program and she's the one who gave me a chance to join the program and for that I am so grateful. She was also instrumental in guiding our careers with resumes, social media profiles, and interview prep. All of the people I mentioned above were so helpful and supportive of the new transition I made. I would not be where I am without them, and everyone else involved in the tech elevator program, and for that I am eternally grateful. I have highly recommended this program to my friends who are also looking to transition into to tech, and I would say the same thing to anybody else. This program will you give you the technical skills to land a job in tech, and also the ability to navigate the career transition through resume workshops and interview prep. They also will give you connection to potential employers and you will land an interview to a few of these employers towards the end of the program. That is actually how I got my first job! There was an employer who came to tech elevator and interviewed me, I was able to land another interview and the rest is history! Finally, you will also be able to meet so many great people in your cohort and keep in contact with them. I'm always amazed to see what my cohort is doing and what they all have accomplished since graduating. This program changed my life, and I would not be where I am today without it. This has BY FAR been the best decision I have ever made. If you're reading this, I highly recommend you take the big step and join Tech Elevator. I promise you; it will be worth it! -

Best Full-Stack Bootcamp

Tech Elevator was amazing, I will try to outline my experience in hopes that it will help future students make a choice:
The Bootcamp is mainly split up in 2 parts, Pathway and Coding.
The pathway part is led by a group of talented pathway directors that help you fix your Resume and your linkedin profile as well as provide you with a space to practice your behavioral interview skills. You will come out of the pathway knowing how to present yourself, be confident talking about your newly acquired skills , and how to land and ace your interviews.
The directors also work hard to set up two matchmaking days where they will have a group of hiring companies matched with students depending on student's interests/choice or suitability with location/relocation/remote requests. If you have not landed a job offer by the time the camp ends, you will have the full support of this team and the network of Tech elevator Alumni to fall back on for resources and referrals.
The Coding part is structured in a way to make things simple at the start and then build on top of those first principal knowledge. The instructors are extremely talented and versed in the education material. They will take the time to stop class and make sure that everyone is up to speed and that no question goes unanswered.
You will start the first week with setting up laptops (provided by Tech Elevator) and jump straight into Java or C# depending on what your choice is, the main focus will be learning how to code using OOP (object oriented programming) techniques.
Next part will be learning about SQL and how to manipulate data, and for the 3rd part you will learn Javascript (VUE).
For every part there is a milestone project were you are paired up with another student to work and test your skills. The third and final project is a combination of everything you learned, you will be responsible for creating the Front-end , Back-end and everything in between.
I consider myself lucky to have chosen Tech Elevator for my switch from Civil engineering into Software development. If you are thinking about changing industries or you've just had this curiosity to learn how to code, Tech Elevator is worthy of your consideration.

In 14 weeks Tech Elevator managed to change my life! They gave me the technical skills I needed to land my first Software Engineer job (1 week after graduation). During the early months of the pandemic I came to a crossroad of continuing down my existing path or making a career change. I can say without a doubt that attending TE has changed my life in more ways than just professionally. I joined TE with limited knowledge about software development, however the instructors and pathway directors guided all of us through the program and assisted in finding jobs (which is ultimately the goal right?). They provided us with the tools, the knowledge, and opportunities to succeed.
If you're reading this you're likely looking for experience/feedback and I can tell you that I did my fair share of researching many bootcamps, had many conversations with other bootcamps and none of them passed an initial call for me, that is until I spoke with the knowledgeable intake folks at TE. Join one of their panels for an opportunity to ask personalized questions and see if it's right for you, who knows, maybe you'll see me on there! -

If I just think about what I was and what I am now - it seems like a dream to me. And the boat of that real-life dream is Tech Elevator. It helped me to reach my goal. It just not only taught me coding but built me for the coding world. Starting from building my resume, Linkedin profile, mock interview, and whiteboard session to lot and lots of motivational words make my landing in the coding world very smooth. I already referred lots of students to Tech Elevator and will do it again and again. Love you Tech Elevator NLR. -

When I started looking into coding boot-camps, Tech Elevator rose to the top of my list due to their belief in transparency regarding graduation and placement rates. Jumping into a boot-camp is a large time investment and costs a lot. For me, this meant quitting my job to focus on the content, and taking a large financial risk. Not for one second did I ever regret it!
My time at Tech Elevator was difficult, but the knowledge and experience I gained was certainly worth it. From day 1, everyone really made the effort to make the students comfortable. The concepts you will learn at TE are difficult, but the staff was there every step of the way, and always made sure help was available if needed. The staff and teachers really do seem to care about you as an individual, and want to see you succeed. I never felt like just a number that they wanted to add to their success rate statistics. Everyone was invested in us actually succeeding.
I will say that even though TE does give you lessons, you will still need to invest some time into outside of the classroom. Programming is simply too broad to learn everything in 14 weeks. They will tell you this upfront as well, and it is true. The teaching definitely provides structure while you are trying to learn, but you will need to look some things up on your own.
Speaking more to the Pathway program, which prepares you for the job hunt and interviews, I felt this side was very important as well. While attending, it may feel like a side note to the actual programming lessons, but it is just as important! You can know everything related to programming, but if you can't interview you won't find yourself employed. I would highly advise to take this part of the program just as seriously as the technical side. The pathway program instructors are all wonderful people, and they really do go above and beyond to help you in the job hunt!
Overall, I am very happy with my time at Tech Elevator, and I whole-heartedly recommend it if you are trying to break into the tech field and need some structure to your learning. One week after graduating, I received a job offer and I am starting on my developer journey! -

I can’t say enough about Tech Elevator in Cleveland. Best decision I ever made. From the moment I stepped in, I was treated exceptionally. The instructors were talented, kind, and extremely patient. It felt like everyone there wanted you to succeed. The interview training was fantastic. They guide you every single step of the way. The companies they work with are tops. And I am now employed at the best company I have ever worked for. Stick with it, listen to them, and follow every step. It’s worth it. -

For anyone interested in a career in programming, I can’t recommend Tech Elevator enough. My experience at Tech Elevator was absolutely incredible! After 21 years in hospitality, I didn't feel like I was growing anymore, and I missed the rush that came with advancement. It would have been very easy to remain content in hotel management, but I knew that I didn't want to spend another 20 years doing it. So after speaking with some colleagues about the world of tech and all of the possibilities that it contained, I decided to take the leap of faith. A bootcamp was the most logical starting point so that I could absorb as much pertinent information as soon as possible, while also bypassing the "fluff classes" and insane costs of going back to school.
I couldn't have been more happy by choosing Tech Elevator. Their curriculum is well structured, the instructors are industry experts, and the Pathway Directors were sincere advocates in job placement assistance.
Was the bootcamp hard? Hell yeah it was hard, but to go through it with other brave classmates that were enduring the same challenge, it encouraged an immediate camaraderie that I'll cherish forever.
As I type this, I'm 3 weeks removed from the bootcamp, and am proud to say that I just accepted a role as a project administrator (with prospects of growing into a Project Manager- IT role). Learning software development was an awesome foundation to open the door to this role, and I have Tech Elevator to thank. -

I attended National Live Remote (NLR-6) and my experience at TE was fabulous. There was a lot to learn and it was HARD, overwhelming and frustrating but I was well supported. Just as useful as the technical training was the soft skill training. That really made the difference in the end to me, all the help with my resume, LinkedIn and networking. And then the bi-monthly career coaching meetings after graduation until I got a job. Everyone was so supportive and helpful. I can't say enough good things about my experience and the people who work at Tech Elevator! -

As someone working in healthcare with no recent experience in software development, it seemed like an insurmountable task to transfer my soft skills learned over a career in pharmacy to a job working in technology. Tech Elevator's incredibly supportive staff not only taught me the skills needed to start a new career in technology, but they were also alongside me every step of the way to get a job. As a student, you will be required to put in the hours and the work necessary to succeed but Tech Elevator will make sure you reach your goal if you do.

I spent about 3 years teaching myself coding as a hobby, but I learned more in those few months with Tech Elevator than I ever did teaching myself. The job assistance was especially helpful to me, as I didn't have much Job / career experience at that point in time.
My only critique would be to try and maybe reorganize the curriculum so that students can learn how to manage a project earlier and then implement that learning throughout the rest of the bootcamp and in their own side projects. -

Tech Elevator is a phenomenal institution. Not only did they do a good job preparing me for a future career in the software engineering field, but their instructors truly care about you and your future and are always available to help you. The classmates you will meet will become your friends and will help you through the school, and you will learn so much about your new career field!
The pathway program in Tech Elevator really sets it apart from other schooling avenues in software development. They have experienced recruiters and pathway directors whose job it is to specifically help you find a job after the program ends. And it works! They will help with your interviewing skills, help you gain connections, and other important means to help you grow your career!

If you have the discipline/drive you might be able to teach yourself roughly the same skills within a relatively short period of time; there are books and online courses. Great experience and so glad I made the decision to enroll. I was fortunate to receive a job offer before classes finished but there is a lot of work involved behind the scenes. I applied to over 200 local or remote jobs, 90+% were rejections or just no responses but you just have to keep applying.
Tech Elevator will give you all the tools you need to succeed. Before you begin classes I would do as much coding prep as you can on freecodecamp or Udemy. Even if you don't fully grasp what you've done it will help when you see it again in class.
Best advice I could give;
1. Make a portfolio page on your github. I believe this helped a lot to get interviews and secure offers.

Tech Elevator is an incredible program tailored for ones successful transition into a full-stack developer role. I am a recent career changer. In the fall of 2021 I left my job as a tradesman in pursuit of greater challenge and reward. I attended TE's 14 week Java course and attained employment only weeks after my graduation. This course has enabled me to attain the skills and understanding to undergo a completely new career in the world of Tech. I was greatly satisfied with the staff as well as the overall culture of the program. I was put into a class of 15 students with one designated technical teacher for half of the day. The other half of the program was completely focussed on the career preparation and it is known as the Pathways program. The Technical class gave me the skills and no-how to enter into a Jr. developer role and the Pathways program assisted me in things like resume building, mock interviews, as well as employer panels and much more. I only have positive things to say about the staff who is extremely attentive and works diligently to prepare their students for complete success and does so with an overall positive demeanor. A few people to mention who where extremely helpful throughout my journey where Andy Chong Sam, Peggy Kachevas, Sarah Breen and Margaret Green. I would highly recommend this program to anyone in search of a start in the world of Web. -

I got my degree in marketing a few years back, but was never really happy with where I was and always had an interest in web development (spent some time self learning with free online training, but didn’t quite have the motivation to keep going). When I enrolled in TE, I knew they’d throw a lot at you since it’s only 3 months, but the course plan was laid out perfectly. It was intense, for sure, but my instructors (Mary and Katie) were extremely helpful with making sure everyone had a good understanding of each topic. The pathway program is really what makes TE stand out from other boot camps. Laura, Cierra, and Sarah made sure everyone was ready for the transition into the tech industry and they worked so hard to ensure everyone nailed their interviews and answered all questions thrown at them. Needless to say, I would recommend TE to absolutely anyone considering taking the leap into tech! -

...and I still consider attending Tech Elevator's coding bootcamp as one of my life's most impactful decisions. It allowed me to transition from an unhappy career in restaurants to a more balanced and engaging one in software, and it happened mere weeks before the world went on lock-down and every kitchen I’d ever cooked in closed for good!
The bottom line is that the work is challenging, the instructors are excellent, the career advice is indispensable, and if you apply yourself and basically just follow their suggestions in earnest you will almost certainly get hired upon (or before) graduation. And that's the whole point- the curriculum is designed to give you a solid foundation to build from, and the Pathway program gets your foot in the door with an employer. From there it's up to you where you want to go with your career.
After graduation I spent a little time writing features for a java-based framework before being accidentally thrust into the DevOps world. I find the work I do now to be very rewarding. And although little of what I touch day-to-day was covered specifically in the curriculum at Tech Elevator, the foundational knowledge we were given is universal. And most importantly I (re)learned how to learn there. Picking up new tools, frameworks, and languages is still very hard, but I don’t find the firehose of knowledge quite as daunting anymore. None of this would have happened without the help of my incredible instructors and Pathway directors at Tech Elevator! -

Tech Elevator was a great experience that legitimately changed my path in life. I couldn't realistically afford to go back to college and hated working in the service industry. I went in with an associate's degree in a completely unrelated field and got a job within a month of graduating. It is up to you how far you will go once you graduate. You have to listen to your pathway instructors as well as your technical instructors, as technical ability will only take you so far. You will have to study and put in a lot of effort to succeed, but it is only three months, and it will pay off in the long run.
The pathway program seems to really put Tech Elevator above other coding bootcamps. Preparing you with mock interviews and what to expect once you enter the workforce was extremely valuable. If you are willing to dedicate yourself to something for 3 months, to quit your job, and to deal with some stress, you will come out of the other side with a job. It is not a quick and easy way to make money, but it was certainly easier than wallowing in career purgatory. I'd also say that it isn't the most incredibly difficult thing in the world either, as long as you are not completely ignorant when it comes to technology and have some understanding of what programming entails before diving in. Personally, I studied JavaScript everyday for a month, doing practice problems on various websites before starting the program. It put me ahead of the game and made things much easier. I suggest you do the same. -

From the onboarding process all the way through graduation, overall, I had an incredible experience with Tech Elevator, more specifically, Tech Elevator Pittsburgh! After a couple of years of feeling stuck at a dead-end in retail management, I had decided to go back to school for a second Bachelor's in Computer Science when some friends in the Tech industry came alongside me and suggested a Software Bootcamp. I approached the thought of a Bootcamp with a healthy amount of skepticism but after doing a ton of research and interacting with the Tech Elevator staff, going to a BootCamp, Tech Elevator, in particular, was a no-brainer. I talked with Computer Science graduates and Bootcamp graduates and everyone seemed to be in support of the Bootcamp route. After going through the program, I can't recommend it enough! You will certainly get out what you put into your experience there, and if you really put your head down and hustle hard every day you will have a bright future ahead of you coming out. The network of hiring partners Tech Elevator has access to, and connects you with as a student, is reason enough to choose TE, but the Pathway team does an incredible job of helping prepare you to put your best foot forward going into the hiring process, while the instructors prepare you on the technical aspects! I went from a skeptic working retail to someone with several opportunities at my fingertips and was thankful and fortunate to have accepted an offer from one of those opportunities before I even graduated! They take their jobs very seriously at Tech Elevator, the reputation of their graduates is very highly regarded, and they work extra hard to keep up with relevant technologies by keeping a finger on what employers in their hiring network need. It's an incredible way to get into tech and I could not recommend a better Bootcamp! -

Great experience

Last year, after a few conversations with Amber Brantley and Caitie Zajko, I applied to Tech Elevator. I did it because I felt they could help me get hired as a software developer. I got admitted and in July, one month before graduation, I already had a job offer with the company I wanted to work for.
I think that Tech Elevator has a great program. They have excellent instructors who have been technical leads and know how teams work in companies. My instructor was Rich Seeds. He covered not only what was part of the curriculum. He taught us the little tricks that will not appear in a manual or an online course and that you only get with experience. Yoah Morahg, the other instructor, was always equally available when we had questions.
The pathway program is the career portion of the program and it is equally important for the students. I think it made me take a deep look at myself, which in turn made it easier for me to have career conversations. The program was led by Aly Brine and the campus director, Caitie Zajko. For me this was particularly important. They had a lot of activities. People from different companies come to visit and you can ask questions to IT directors, Vice Presidents, recruiters.
I think that they also take great care in selecting students and I really like the people that I met. Actually, I am still in touch with some of them and feel that we will be friends for life.
Another thing that impressed me was that you feel that they all really care for you and that they want you to be successful.
I enjoyed my experience and it was very valuable to me. I was very happy that I attended Tech Elevator and think it was one of the best decisions I ever took.

The curriculum is amazing, especially the tutorial they made for different topics. The instructors are very supportive, they will help you even after working hours, and during the weekend just make sure you get what you need to be successful. If you are like me, English is your second language make sure to prepare before the class start, read the student book, and Google concept before class, and ask questions if you don't understand either because of language or the concept itself. The first two or three weeks are very difficult but keep confident and stick with the program and you will get through it. -

I am very glad that I made a decision to join TechElevator, it was probably one of the best things, where I could invest my time and the money! What I loved about the school the most is that everything was very organized, the instructors were very professional. In addition to that, they are always there to explain additional questions, etc., and the material that was given to us was up to date.
I love the culture here and all the Pathway Directors are super awesome.
The program itself has coding and career development.
As for the program, it is very fast-paced, in a good way. That is the way that I like to learn, so I was able to adapt easily. It's what you would expect from a regular class. The difference, I think, is the staff. Anybody is there to teach you and help you with the current material. They also will take the time to help you as much as they can to make sure you understand the material, even outside of regular class hours.
Career development involves helping you make an efficient resume, interviewing, and as well as a LinkedIn profile. They want to help make your resume look as good as possible for your future job post graduation, but also to help further down the line as well! When it comes to interviewing, they help with both HR-style interviews and coding interviews.
If you want to step into the IT field but do not know where to start - Tech Elevator Bootcamp is the best place to reach!
