Best decision I've ever made

I have always loved making things and figuring out the best way to approach a task. This eventually led me to start coding in my free time and I was hooked. When I decided I wanted to try and make a career change, I knew I needed to find a bootcamp both to make sure that I was learning best practices and for the network of employers. I did my research and found that Tech Elevator had the best graduation rates and the best placement rates.
I left a solid and uninteresting career that I'd been in for nearly 10 years and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The instructors were wonderful and would help you regardless of if they were your primary instructor or not. They are all genuinely interested in teaching and helping students. The Pathway program was a game changer and is definitely TE's edge in the bootcamp game. I thought I knew about interviewing and resume writing, but what I knew didn't always translate to this new field. They made me feel prepared and helped me make connections. I am now a developer with a local company and I had my first interview with them during TE's matchmaking days.
If you're thinking about a bootcamp and are near a TE campus (or looking for virtual options), I urge you to attend an info session and see if it's right for you. They've got the knowledge, the skills, and most importantly the people, to help you make this change. -

Life Changing Experience
Not only did Tech Elevator teach me the skills to join a great profession but it gave me confidence in my everyday life. The pathway program helped me with speaking to people when before I was really shy. The instructors were very supportive and helpful which made learning at a fast pace much easier. Tech Elevator was the best decision I’ve ever made when it comes to my career. -

You can do it too. We can be in our 40s and start over, and it can be WONDERFUL. I don't have a college degree. I left my job and studied Java full time at Tech Elevator in Detroit. I graduated after 14 weeks in April of 2020, and accepted a job offer in June 2020 during the pandemic. Based on my experience, here are some bulletpoints:- I borrowed the money for tuition - I have paid it back. Worth it.
- The bootcamp hours are about 9-5. Plan for 9-9. If you don't have any previous experience with coding, there's more to learn than you can imagine. Quit your job to do this.
- Make sure your family is ready to LOSE you for a quarter. Don't worry. They'll get you back x2 for the rest of your lives because you can gain salary, flexibility, and sanity.
- People say that you can learn to code online on your own, but Tech Elevator's "soft skills" program and interview prep and process was the MOST VALUABLE thing. They set us up with interviews with a number of great companies so that we could get a foot in the door for consideration, which is nearly impossible on your own.
- Since graduating, I feel years younger because my brain is still in overdrive, learning more and more new things! Neuroplasticity!
- Some of the people I graduated with have become life long friends. They are my second Home.
- I studied Java. I got a C# .NET job. I learned enough to be able to catch on quickly!
- Bootcamp was one of the most difficult things I ever did. It tested my grit, patience, resiliency, and endurance. I didn't complete this without tears, but the instructors stuck with me. The camp director pushed me to keep interviewing when I didn't want to anymore. The Pathway director helped me mock interview until I was confident that I could answer the "easy" questions ("tell me a time when...", "tell us about yourself.." etc).
- This is one of the best things I ever did for myself, and I'm thankful every day for the life it led me toward. Absolutely zero regrets for choosing to do this, and for choosing this school.

I went into Tech Elevator with no previous computer programming experience and their 14-week course helped usher me into a new career in the tech field. TE's Pathway Program gave me a leg up on other bootcamp graduates because they teach you, not only the skills you need to do the job, but the ones you need to get it, through mock interviews and practice questions. The faculty put their students in the room with hiring managers of several local companies to get face-to-face exposure in real situations. I highly recommend the course for anyone looking for a new profession. -

I entered Tech Elevator having been a high school music teacher for 5 years. I had no coding experience except for a free Java basics course I took online a few months prior to enrolling to see if I enjoyed coding. Within two months of graduating, I've been hired as a software developer.
The curriculum is comprehensive and fast-paced as a result. It is likely that not everything will stick right away the first time, but as long as you are paying attention, actively participating, and working to understand the concepts, you will have a great foundation of skills when you graduate. Their online "book" of coding concepts is an incredibly handy resource and is written in a way to make even complex concepts approachable and understandable.
From a technical side, all of the instructors I interacted with were both very knowledgeable and very supportive. They are very understanding that this information will be brand new to most of the students.
The career-focused part of the program is also full of knowledgeable and supportive professionals that will work with you and support you throughout your job search.
Tech Elevator takes what they do seriously. Since I graduated, I have been receiving their support. It's not a silver bullet--how quickly you find a job after graduating from the program is influenced by many factors beyond anyone's control--but the knowledge, skills, resources, and network that Tech Elevator gives you will certainly make your search much, much easier.
I'm still shocked that I was able to make this career change as quickly as I did. I spent 4 years studying Music Education. It felt like changing careers would be incredibly time consuming, but Tech Elevator made it possible. -

I had a friend who went through Tech Elevator back in early 2019, so I was able to watch his career trajectory for a few years after his graduation. I realized at the end of 2021 that his career in tech was exploding upward. He walked me through some exercises and gave me background how development worked, and I was instantly hooked. I quit my job a few months later, started the summer cohort, and could not imagine my life in this position even a year ago. I had Steve Carmichael as my instructor, and I could not have asked for a better teacher. He pushed me to learn as much as I could and grow with best practices in mind. At the end of 14 weeks, I had learned so much it is almost comical to list it all off. Not even a month after graduation I had accepted a job offer to a company that I can't be more excited to join. I made many friends and learned so much along the way. I wouldn't have been able to start a career in tech with such a strong footing if it weren't for Tech Elevator. -

Tech Elevator is an absolutely amazing program. I went from not knowing any code to landing a job as a Software Engineer. The thing that really impressed me about Tech Elevator was how much the people there care. My instructors (shout out to Matt and John!!) were absolutely phenomenal. They had immense amounts of patience and knowledge and belief in every single one of their students. They were always willing to help with homework, side projects, and were always willing to lend a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. The people in charge of the Pathways Program (love you Laura, Kate, and Vinny!!!!) were also so incredible. They had so much experience in job searching, resume crafting, and interview prepping. Even after graduating, they were always checking in and offering advice and help. When I got competing job offers, they were so excited for me and also so helpful in helping me pick between them, and helped me properly and professionally craft a rejection for the one I declined.
It was definitely a lot of hard work. Tech Elevator is not for the faint of heart. It's only 14 weeks long, which is not very long to learn code, but it is 14 weeks of non-stop learning and working as hard as you can! It is worth it but this is not a casual learning experience!
I enrolled in Tech Elevator because I wanted to change my life. Not only has Tech Elevator equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to step into a new career field, but Tech Elevator also provided me with amazing people all there to support and mentor me. I could not recommend Tech Elevator more to anyone looking to make a positive change in their life. -

5 whole months exactly!
That's how long it took me to go from a barber to an employed software engineer.
I gave up my business on May 3 and I'm starting my new role as a software engineer at JPMorgan Chase & Co. on October 3!
I am so excited to join the team there, and start the next chapter of my story! I can't wait to keep learning and applying all the knowledge that I acquired at tech elevator. Most of all I'm so pumped to meet and start working with my team.
When I say this is life-changing for my family and me, I mean it!
I know that this timeline is different for everyone and I'm not saying this to flaunt the timing. If you have followed my journey at all you know it was a struggle.
I doubted myself the whole way. I had to make a conscious decision to believe others when they said they believed in me or "you can do this". I had long nights, came incredibly close to giving up on more than one occasion, and if you ask my partner, she would say at times I was the most depressed she had ever seen me.
But with all that I made it! I'm a software engineer!
I really couldn't do this alone, My partner took on so much while I went to school. I had so many people cheering me on and teaching me everything from coding to what to wear in interviews.
So some shout-outs are in order!
Everyone at Tech Elevator!
Billy Gura, I wouldn't have even been able to start this process without you. Thanks for seeing my potential and helping me get accepted to TE.
John Fulton and Matt Eland, you two are the best teachers I've ever had. Thanks for pushing me, comforting me, and believing in me. I will never forget the morning coffees and the evening walks we shared throughout my journey at TE.
Vinny Sanfillipo, You told me over and over again to believe in myself. You taught me some killer morning affirmations, that I still say in the mirror every morning. Thank you so much for constantly encouraging me and helping me have confidence in myself.
Kate Watkins and Laura Coffee, you two work so hard to get us jobs during and after this program! I would have been lost without you both. Thanks for always holding space for me and answering every question one could have about landing that first job.
David Lyle, You spoke to me so early in my journey and stayed in contact the whole way. Thank you for encouraging me to apply and checking in at every step of the process.
I have about 50 other people I could thank for helping me in my career change but this post is already looking like a book.
I think I just want people to know, that you can't do it on your own.
If you are in the process or thinking about a career change, you can do it, you just can't do it alone. Build your support system.
Believe me, if I did it you can too. Keep Moving!
If you see this and you are thinking of changing careers or are in the process and in need of someone to believe in you do hesitate to reach out to me! -

Best Decision

If you're thinking of doing a coding bootcamp, do yourself a favor and choose Tech Elevator. I did lots of research before I decided, and I definitely made the best decision. It is an intense 14 weeks of constant new information every single day, but you leave with a skillset to change your life. They tell you to be prepared to spend around 60-70hrs a week, and that is definitely true throughout most of the bootcamp. It's a big time commitment, but well worth it. There will be plenty of times where imposter syndrome starts to creep in, but believe in yourself. If you were a strong enough candidate to get through the application process, you will be just fine! The instructors for both the lectures, and for the pathway sessions (professional development) were amazing, and they truly care about you as a student. They'll do whatever they can to work with you to make sure you succeed!
Pros:Great instructors for both the curriculum and for the professional development pathway sessions. Instructors made themselves available for you, lectures were intense but very practical with a lot of hands-on implementation. But the pathway sessions were just as important as the lecture material. A lot of time spent revising resumes, having group brainstorming sessions, panel discussions with industry professionals, and matchmaking events to give you your first opportunities to interview with potential employers.
Cons:I don't have many cons. Any suggestions or concerns that were brought up were always addressed and taken into consideration or amended. The time commitment is very real though. I'm sure it's the same with most bootcamps, but it is a lot of material presented and needed to learn to implement in a very short period of time. So be prepared to lock in. It will definitely be the best decision of your life. -

I learned so much and made some great friends along the way. There was plenty of opportunity to get additional time with instructors, and plenty of projects and work to put what you're learning into practice which solidified the concepts for me. What's really special about it is the career support. They help you feel confident in your skills to get the interview, ace the interview and land the job. I had an absolutely great experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to change careers. I was working about a month after graduating. It's not the end all be all dream job, but its a good job and a good next step. I ended up getting hired by one of the companies I met at the TE matchmaking event. -

Amazing Experience

It's funny to think that just 6 months ago I was reading reviews on this website to decide whether or not to take the plunge. And the truth is that everything I read here turned out to be exactly what TE is all about and can do to change the course of your life. Granted I don't know other bootcamps as I only experienced this one, but I have nothing but positive things to relate regarding picking TE as your bootcamp.
The curriculum, support, fellow people in your cohort, and pathway program that preps you to enter the job market, were all vital to delivering an immersive, intensive, yet guided 14-week experience to set you up to enter the tech world. Most importantly, the instructors were very supportive and always available to huddle up and work with you on whatever you were struggling with. Quite honestly I found no real downsides to the program.
Everything culminates with matchmaking in weeks 10 & 11 where you are paired with hiring partners in your area. Not everyone finds jobs through this, and I don't know percentage-wise what it amounted to in my cohort, but many people were hired from this process right out of bootcamp, including myself. Not many bootcamps have this to offer -- which is why I personally wanted to go with TE over others. They are known in the industry and people trust the graduates that come out of the program.
Full disclosure: I had no previous coding experience or exposure prior to this. Neither did many of my peers who quickly found jobs within weeks of finishing the program. I think that if you are reasonably intelligent, motivated, and willing to fully invest your mental and emotional state, you will succeed. If you lack discipline and get discouraged quickly, coding is likely not for you, and going to bootcamp won't serve you any good. However, you don't have to be a technical genius to figure out how to write code and develop software. Don't doubt yourself and go in knowing you will have to push yourself day in and day out and you will be fine.
Hope this helps others who were in my shoes not too long ago. -

I have been wanting to break into Tech for many years and I did a lot of research into my options including looking into self-study, degrees, certifications, etc. In the end, I went with the Tech Elevator bootcamp because the following reasons:
- You get a high-quality, structured, curated curriculum that gives you the foundation for success
- The program and your peers truly motivate and inspire you
- The career coaching and networking really help you with the hardest part, landing your first tech job
In hindsight, it's the best decision I could have made. The instructors were deeply experienced and truly cared about each students success. The other students in the program were very diverse and enriched the program with their unique backgrounds and perspectives, in fact, I've made lasting friendships with many. The curriculum itself, while challenging, gave you confidence during recruitment and the skills to go from not knowing a single line of code to being able to develop fully functional web applications. Last, but not least, the career coaching and networking opportunities gave us an edge in getting our foot into the door with our first tech job.
On a final note, I will say that success in this program ultimate depends on you but having a professional training environment and being able to leverage the reputation and industry connections that Tech Elevator offers, in my opinion, is what sets it apart.
Best of luck in your endeavors. -

The TE experience is the full deal. There are knowledgeable teachers who strive to see the students succeed. Often times I had access to help beyond expectation. The curriculum covers the full stack, mostly on the language of the cohort you are attending. There is definitely enough education on the other portions (databases and front end) to prepare you for an entry level role. I found I was able to self-teach and build upon my lessons during my time after the bootcamp to better prepare for some of the roles I was applying for.
Another fantastic aspect of TE is the pathway program. They have experienced recruiters who help you understand all the ins and the outs of the industry and the job search. There are countless helpful events from exposing you to companies, practicing elevator pitches, refining your resume, and even interview coaching. This was a much more valuable aspect of the bootcamp than I anticipated.
I found that the job search is quite challenging. You must have a lot of mental and emotional fortitude to endure the course and subsequent job hunt but the rewards are there for those willing to put in the effort.
Class mates were helpful, the environment was always supportive, and the best advice I can give you is to get extra sleep and learn to ask for help early and often. -

TL;DR: The program worked for me. Seriously, I loved it.
Why? I graduated from Tech Elevator's fully remote 14-week full-stack Java bootcamp in February 2022 and accepted a job offer in software engineering four weeks later.
Initial impressions: I was drawn to TE's focus on career development and job placement -- and its transparency in sharing those metrics. Another thing that compelled me to enroll was the ease with which I was able to get information about the program itself. The website was organized and I had a chance to learn specficis and ask questions during a virtual open house. (If a bootcamp's website leaves you confused -- if you can't get answers to simple questions from program reps -- that's a red flag.)
HOWEVER: Will this work for me??? I mean, leaving your job (and maybe an established career, like I did) is a big deal and there's no guarantee you'll thrive or succeed. Also: Are bootcamps, like, still relevant? Are there really that many unfilled jobs and opportunities for bootcamp grads? Will I regret leaving my job? Am I too old for this? Am I a sucker??? (OK -- I'm taking some dramatic license here but you get the point: I am a bit of a skeptic.)
And then ... The instructors. The program. The career development. The coursework. The book! (Yes, there is a book that you can read and study and have access to after you graduate. I took a part-time, six-month Trilogy bootcamp in 2017 and there was no book. Having pages makes a HUGE difference IMO.) As soon as the program started it all clicked for me: I absolutely felt I had made the right decision. My instructor was enthusiastic, so knowledgeable, compassionate, funny, organized, etc. etc. She answered tons of questions every day. She cared. She was a professional instructor, to boot! And the Pathway Program was excellent also. You get so much career advice and meet industry professionals and companies and former students. They set you up for success. They celebrate your excitement about taking the plunge. It's a fully supportive, professional, exciting environment and I only wish it had been a bit longer because I truly enjoyed every moment of it.
Final thoughts: This program worked for me, but it's not easy. You have to work at it. Be dedicated. Give it 110%. If you do enroll, take it all in. Enjoy every opportunity they present to you and give it your all. You deserve it.

It was a bit long run before I got accepted by this bootcamp. I was wondering why it takes such long process to send my money to a bootcamp.... When the course finally started, I realized that they wanted to make sure you have a good understanding about what you will learn and what you will experience during the program. Many people around me doubted if I can really switch my career after several years of another great career. Here I want to say, don't doubt about yourself if you really want to make a change! Tech Elevator helps me successfully switch my career. I was considering taking a graduate CS course or taking a bootcamp. I am glad now that I chose the latter.
My instructor - Greg, TA - Kevin and all Pathway program people really helps me whenever I need them, but only during weekdays.... Most of the time, it's not I went to talk with them, it's they came to talk with me. Until now, I still feel unbelievable that I can really make applications that I want through 3 months of learning experience!
And most important part, they try to introduce many great companies in the matchmaking event. So you can really talk with the hiring recruiters from each company you are interested in. They are all great IT and financial companies all over the nation.
The only thing that I found a bit disappointed is, some company was hiring during matchmaking, and then during the further hiring process, they decide not to hire at that time. The job market is up and down, you never know... But I'm glad that I still find an ideal job!
Big shout to Tech Elevator!!

I couldn't be happier with my decision to attend Tech Elevator.
The program was intense but the tradeoff is thoroughness. A typical day consisted of lectures in the morning and afternoon, followed by homework assignment and finally Pathway events/training. The Pathway component of the program was extremely valuable. It consisted of resume building, LinkedIn tweaking, networking, as well as facilitating both mock and legitimate interviews with hiring managers in the area.
The instructors were experienced and always willing to answer questions and spend more time explaining more difficult coding concepts. The program was divided into 3 modules. The first being backend programming, we went over data structures, algorithms, etc.. as well as had mini projects to complete over the weekends with a partner. The second module consisted of learning about relational databases and how to query them with what was learned in the first module. The third module consisted of frontend languages and frameworks. All culminating in a final capstone project where teams of 3-4 students built a full stack application and demo'd it in front of friends, family, peers, and potential employers.
It was overwhelming at times trying to balance homework, group projects and my outside life but nothing worth having comes without effort and/or sacrifice. I'm pleased to say I've received 4 offers since graduating Tech Elevator and all being software engineer/developer roles. -

If you're reading this, you're probably considering if Tech Elevator is worth it. Emphatically yes. You might find yourself asking, "can I do this?". And again yes, but only if you can be disciplined. This is not an In/Out program. This requires you to focus and spend time learning.
I wish I could say, "sign up and you'll change your life". But fortunately, this program will push you to the edge of your potential. This is a good thing. Imposter Syndrome is real in this field, so it is good to enter it with the mindset that you are more capable than you previously gave yourself credit for. Companies are looking for people that know how to code and can deal with pressure. This program will provide both, as long as you commit.
Before being accepted, you must go through a behavioral assessment and take a test (mostly logic, no programming knowledge required). If you are accepted, you have what it takes to complete this program, remember that. This program consists of 12 weeks of instruction culminating in a 2 week Final Capstone project. You will be exposed to frontend and backend technologies. You will complete projects through this program, but to really shine to employers, you should also complete some of your own projects.
The part of this program that makes it stand out is the Pathway program. At times you may feel like it is not going to be helpful for your career and you should probably be spending the time coding. However, Pathway is how you get a job. It provides invaluable networking and personal skills that make you stand out. Take the Pathway program as seriously as you do the technical side of the program.
The technical side of this program will give you the tools to excel in your new career. You have to learn how to use them. The instructors and TA's are incredible and will provide you with everything you need to succeed. Shout out to Rich, Greg, and Jess for being awesome.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this program. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. -

If you're looking for a coding bootcamp that, in addition to teaching you the basics of software development, will also give you the coaching and practice you need in order to find your first job in tech, then take a VERY close look at Tech Elevator!
I attended Tech Elevator remotely via the Pittsburgh campus in Fall 2021. I came in with extremely little programming experience, and with no actual experience/employment in the industry. The bootcamp was a lot of work, but I'm now working as a Software Engineer I and thoroughly enjoying my work!
Do your research. Take Tech Elevator's aptitude test. Make sure you're a motivated learner who is OK with struggling (and failing) while learning something difficult and complicated.
If you're willing to put in the work, then Tech Elevator will get you where you want to go! -

This was definitely a life changing bootcamp. I highly recommend it. I worked as a cook for over a decade and decided to take the leap into the world of programming. I had close to no experience with programming and they turned that around in 3 months. It is very intense, and I felt like quitting many times. Imposter syndrome was prevalent the whole time. The support from my fellow classmates, teachers, and pathway directors was amazing and never ending. It helped to keep me going. The job hunt was strenuous, and my will to keep looking fluctuated. Tech Elevator continued to help me search for almost 6 months until I finally accepted a position. The endless support is there. You can complete the program, and you will find a job. -

I was hesitant. So very hesitant. If it's too good to be true, it likely isn't true.
*Setting the scene*
I have a friend who is a Ruby developer and went to a coding bootcamp some time ago, and after finding out how he broke into tech, I was curious. Could I do one of these camps? Could I even get in? I researched, just as you guys are - on Course report, Youtube, Reddit, anywhere I could find info on these bootcamps. I knew that I needed an in-person learning experience because that's how I best learn. I was ready to move to California, Texas, NY - wherever I needed to go - to go to one of these bootcamps. If you're investing this much money into something, make sure that you are in the most ideal situation possible because you will try to find excuses when it's not working out like you think it should be.
Only two of the several dozens bootcamps I reached out to were doing in-person learning... DevMountain in Iowa (Or Idaho I can't remember), and Tech Elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since I'm local to Lexington, KY (roughly 50 minutes to Cincy) it was a no-brainer that Tech Elevator was my best choice. However, still being cautious, I reached out to people on LinkedIn from both bootcamps. Both had good things to say, but Tech Elevator's feedback was so overwhelmingly positive that I was even more skeptical. Is there some type of affiliate program - where alumni get paid to bring in new people? There has to be, because I am asking questions to the alumni that would list out some of the cons. The only con was - "It's really challenging." Well, I had gathered that much.
After reaching out to the administration about the affiliate program, they confirmed they do have one. Well crap. I knew it was ruse. Too good to be true. I say how much do they get paid? "$50 if someone makes it to like week 6 of the program." $50? That's it? Well, maybe I'm just the nicest person In the world, but I'm not going to lie to a stranger to convince them to spend $16,000 for $50. So that made me think the responses I was getting were a lot more genuine.
I commit. I take the aptitude test, pass somehow, and get accepted. Awesome. I put in my two weeks at my job in preparation, and with two days left on my notice - they switch back from in-person, to purely remote because of the local covid numbers.
Crap man. I researched bootcamps for so long with the goal of finding in-person learning *in a pandemic* only to be set back again. Given, I don't have a job in two days... so I say - "Let's do the thing."
---------------------
What a whirlwind of 14 weeks. Blood (okay probably not), sweat, tears - it was tough. There were some character defining moments in this bootcamp. I was googling "Jobs in tech that don't require coding" in like week 4. But the support that I received from the instructors, the tech elevator staff, and my classmates was ~exceptional~
Maybe I got lucky with my cohort, but I've made friendships that will last a lifetime, we were up till 1-2am some nights finishing our homework, and dissecting the code. There was never a moment where one of our classmates left another one out to dry. We were a team, and always showed gratitude when our classmates helped one another.
I watched classmates of mine with no technical experience struggle to open up folders at the start of the cohort - only to get jobs paying twice as much as what they've ever made, right after graduation.
The learning experience and the job that I received after bootcamp.. If I could have seen into the future, I would have paid twice as much to have the outcome that I had.
-----------------------
Improvements?
Honestly I feel like I'm nit-picking but - potentially having a professor that solely worked weekends would be great. Our professors were always readily available for us during the weekend, but I always felt guilty messaging them. Like I know this guy is just wanting to watch the Bengals play in peace, and I'm asking him to help more than he already does. So having someone where their sole purpose is to be available on the weekends would be ideal.
-----------------------
Truly elevated. *ba-dum-tsk*
In all seriousness, I cannot recommend Tech Elevator enough (specifically the Cincy campus, but I'm sure their other campuses are great too). If anyone needs any other questions - feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn.

It's funny to think that not so long ago I was on Course Report looking at reviews about Tech Elevator and other boot camps. It is hard to believe that someone can change their career in such a short amount of time but I am a testament that it is possible. Prior to Tech Elevator, I was a restoration ecologist for an environmental non-profit. I needed a big change and was interested in coding and Technology. The combination of TE's curriculum, highly qualified staff, the Represent Tech Scholarship, and the Pathway Program (what truly sets this boot camp apart) was what made me pick this boot camp over the other ones.
As a student everything met my expectations and many times exceeded them. The curriculum is well designed with consistent learning materials that are well written with clear examples. The combination of readings from the textbook, lecture, and exercises gives you a great opportunity to learn a lot and learn it quickly. Yes, the pacing of this boot camp is intense and will be very challenging at times, but I found it to be very fun and engaging. Part of that is how TE presents the material to you and the support you receive and give from fellow students. I did some courses on Javascript some months prior to starting the boot camp, it is not necessary but I found that I was way more prepared and familiar with the material which made the learning curve a little bit more manageable. Recommended but not needed.
The Pathway Program helps hone in on how to best present yourself to land that job. Yes, technical skills are important but being able to "sell" yourself effectively is half of the battle. They help you develop your elevator pitch, resume, and countless other important aspects of your applications. Additionally, TE helps connect you with their large network of hiring partners. I truly believe that the Pathway Program is the biggest reason why I received an offer.
If you love to code and want to make a big change in your life then TE is a high-quality choice. I will be starting my first position as a Junior Software Engineer in February and I have TE to thank for that. It will be a challenging couple of weeks, but if you focus, put in the hard work, and never give up, you'll be rewarded for it and hey you'll have lots of fun and meet great people too. -

I remember being in the shoes you are in right now, i.e., debating on whether or not you should apply to Tech Elevator, quit your job, and spend 3 and a 1/2 months essentially learning how to converse in a foreign language like a native of that language. I remember the doubts that kept creeping in: I'm not good enough, I'm going to fail miserably and let myself and my loved ones down, I'm too old to switch careers, this is a young person's game, I'm going to waste all that tuition money, etc. So, how did I pierce through all of that and ultimately make the decision to attend Tech Elevator, and what was my experience like?
Whenever doubt crept in, I kept reminding myself that I'm capable, that I'm worth it, that my loved ones believe in me, that there was still something missing in my career that I needed to change, and most importantly that not trying is far worse than trying and failing. And I'm incredibly happy that I made the decision.
I will be honest in this review and tell you that it's very challenging. There is a lot of work to do, a lot of exercises to complete, a lot of concepts to understand, a lot of hitting a wall and pulling your hair out trying to figure out why your test is failing or your code is not compiling. You will have late nights, and you will have to get out of your comfort zone and work with other classmates on homework, paired-programming exercises, and capstone projects. You will have to accept that there may be times when you need to ask for help. But I'm telling you that it's all worth it. It is a crucible through which you enter as someone that you and your loved ones are very familiar with, and you come out a different, changed, better person. You will find out that you are a lot stronger, braver, and smarter than you think you are. You will realize quickly that your fear of looking stupid is the same fear that everyone else has. You will realize that others want to see you succeed as much as you do, and as a result will help you, and you will in turn help them.
The instructors are amazing, the graduate assistants are amazing, the Pathway program is amazing, the curriculum is amazing. It's all amazing. And if you're worried about having to work remotely like I was (due to COVID), I can attest that it was actually more comfortable and just as effective, if not more. They have mastered leveraging existing technology to make the student experience enjoyable, easy, and totally conducive to achieving success.
Take it from me, a 41 year-old former teacher, with a lifelong cache of self-doubt and self-criticism and enough imposter syndrome to fill a psychology textbook. I made the choice to apply, then I made the choice to attend after being accepted, then I made the choice to wake up everyday and give it 100%, then I made the choice to stick with it through all of the doubt, and so on and so on. I made a series of choices and just kept making them, until I got an actual job as a software developer in the industry, just before graduating from the program. And choosing Tech Elevator is a choice I can't recommend enough. It will change your life.
Pros and consThe technology they use made it easy to learn and work with classmates remotely. The instructors taught us everything we needed to know and did so incredibly effectively. The graduate assistant and instructors were available throughout the day for help when you need it. The curriculum was great. The Pathway program was absolutely critical and was a huge reason why I was able to get a job in the industry. There are many pros, too many to count.
It's not cheap. However, for what you get, I think it's a steal. If you can secure funding (loan, savings, income share agreement, etc), then it's not so bad, especially since there are many loans that have very reasonable terms and conditions. -

Making the decision to join a coding bootcamp is incredibly nerve-racking. For most of the students I enrolled with, they were making a huge career change and taking a giant leap of faith. Including me.
That being said everything about the Tech Elevator program went above and beyond anything I could've ever expected. It honestly was the best decision I have made in my life. If you are someone that knows coding is your future, then I would 10,000% recommend Tech Elevator as the school that will get you to that future.
The content of the program was fulfilling, and I came out of it knowing I could succeed in the industry. The instructors are readily available to go over anything you are learning in the curriculum. Most of everything I was asked in any technical interview was covered during the course. The 14 weeks are incredibly challenging and there isn't a day wasted. You will come out of it prepared for any junior level developer job. I would suggest doing a basic coding tutorial before day one. It will go along way in the first couple of weeks, which is where I saw a lot of people struggling the most.
Everyone from the pathway program worked incredibly hard to prepare me for my interviews, which in my opinion is where Tech Elevator really separates themselves from other bootcamps. You will give your elevator pitch multiple times to employers. You will also do many mock interviews with that will prepare you for any question that might be thrown your way. I have never been so prepared for any interview in my life, and I think that is the main reason I landed my current job. Also, shoutout to Peggy! She can answer any question about the job hunt that you could possibly think of.
I think if you are ready for the career change and can afford it, this is the bootcamp for you! It's worth it. -

I feel like it was yesterday that I was pouring through the reviews on this site trying to decide whether or not to apply to Tech Elevator. I remember being encouraged by all the good reviews, but also skeptical. Believe them! In the process, I met a lot of alumni with the same feeling. Tech Elevator absolutely changed my life. I was working as a landscaper and farm hand prior to completing their course, and in three months landed a job as a Software Engineer. I think the most important thing to consider when making this decision is not whether they will deliver, but if you are ready to commit. If you are, do it! It is intense but in the best way. The instructors are great, they know how to explain things and are more than willing to help you whenever you get stuck or are confused. The material moves quickly, but it does build on itself and by the end, you will be amazed at what you can do! Also important to note, the pathway program is incredible. I have a four-year degree in Sustainable Agriculture and didn't get this level of career development help. It was great getting to know myself better, finding my strengths, and being able to build my confidence to feel comfortable in an interview. The only thing that will hold you back is if you are not ready to give 110% to the course and stick with it. Another plus is the fact that they have an extensive hiring partner network that you get to meet and build relationships with. Everyone who works there is so nice and wonderful and will go above and beyond to make sure that you get all the help you need to make this change. I really can't say enough good things about this course and honestly feel like crying when thinking about how much it opened up my potential in life. Thank you to the whole team at the Philadelphia campus! -

Pivoting to a new career with Tech Elevator

Prior to enrolling in Tech Elevator, I was working in the healthcare industry and was looking for a more rewarding career field. I decided to join the bootcamp because it provides both technical knowledge offers career assistance. Now I am 6 months into my new position as a software developer, and I appreciate the foundation that Tech Elevator has given me. The curriculum provides the foundation for a successful entry into the dev field, I learned the basics of Java, it’s framework, and the key principles of OOP, how to construct and query databases, and the skills to create a complex website.
My instructor Yoav and Pathway Director Caitie were extremely helpful during the bootcamp. Yoav did not hesitate to provide help and insights whenever I got stuck on a project, and I enjoyed his lectures. Caitie consistently provided resources and job opportunities. Their support continued after I graduated the bootcamp. During my job hunting period, they consistently checked in with me. After I landed a job and decided to further my education, they wrote two excellent letters of recommendation which helped my admission into a grad school program.
I’m glad I joined Tech Elevator, I’m very happy at my new job, Tech Elevator has prepared me well to be successful, as I’m excited about future opportunities. -

Overview
After experiencing job uncertainty due to COVID-19, I knew it was time to make a change--to pursue a career that I not only enjoyed, but that could sustain me long-term both personally and financially.
"Coding" can mean so many things... it's front-end design and accessibility, data and analytics on the back-end, quality testing, project management and more. The possibilities are far and wide.
It might be hard to believe that making the switch into an entirely different career is possible in 14 weeks, but with this Tech Elevator team by your side, it IS! I'm graduating with a full-time position at my dream company (and still pinching myself to make sure it's true). The people at Tech Elevator are what make the difference, and ultimately they are the reason why I made the decision to attend this bootcamp over others. Their support is unparalleled, and you'll graduate with a deep professional network as well as technical and soft skills that will last you a lifetime.
Why Tech Elevator, as opposed to a different bootcamp?
As I’m sure you know, it’s incredibly difficult to decide which bootcamp to enroll in because seemingly every single one has glowing, 5-star reviews on Course Report. I was in an endless information funnel that wasn’t leading anywhere, and then it hit me: I’m local to Philadelphia, and my #1 priority is to land a job in tech. And so it only makes sense to choose a bootcamp with top industry connections in this area. Philly is a ripe tech market, and in this market, Tech Elevator has the right connections to set you up with a deep network. From day one, it's obvious that each member of the faculty & staff is extremely invested in your individual success rather than padding their statistics.
Why a bootcamp, as opposed to grad school?
A bootcamp won't go into the nitty gritty of computer science, just a high-level view of career-ready skills that you're ready to apply as a junior developer. Graduate school will cost you more, but will engrain the skills and knowledge perhaps a bit deeper. If you want to make a quick, plug-and-play transition into a tech career, a bootcamp with good career connections (like TE) is the way to go.
Why tech?
For years, I was working in marketing with some pretty crazy deadlines/hours/workload--something that the tech industry is far from (I am now profusely apologized to if anyone messages me past 5 p.m.) Also, tech is just a better personality fit for me--it’s more than ok to be yourself, quirks & all.
What was the result? Job offers, etc.
I am now a software tester at a fashion e-commerce giant. It was my first job offer--and honestly my dream job so I didn’t really hesitate to accept it--but there were a lot of other great companies that I was talking to along the way that I was introduced to through matchmaking. I graduated with a full-time job lined up for me, making significantly more than I had been before the career switch.
Advice for potential new students- Before you apply, make sure that you dabble in some coding to make sure you enjoy it at a fundamental level. You don't have to go crazy, just do a free trial of Codecademy, or try some materials on freeCodeCamp.
- Get ahead in the job search by prioritizing career seminars, of which TE offers many. Also, if you have the bandwidth, work on technical side projects to sharpen your skills.
- Value the relationships you have with instructors and staff from the start, as they would be happy to refer you for job opportunities (with the caveat that they will be honest, so strive to make a good impression!)
- Remind yourself that you can do hard things!!! And if it isn’t hard, seek out challenges so you can learn. The people in your class who seem like they’re getting it a lot ‘quicker’ than you have likely dabbled in coding before. No one is born knowing how to program (!!!), and the foundation of the tech industry is learning how to learn, and how to ask the right questions.
I had such a fantastic experience, met a group of wonderful people (classmates and instructors alike), and I was fast-tracked into my dream job. Tech Elevator was truly the best decision I've made in 2021. -

If you told me back when I first graduated high school that I could attend a program for 14 weeks and immediately get into the software development field, I would have went back then instead of waiting until five years later.
For the longest time, I wanted to go to college but I didn't want to have a large tuition. Originally I was looking at colleges that had insane prices and it just turned me off of the idea for a long time. I finally made (in a way) a New Year's resolution, that I was going to do something further in my life with education; whether it was college or something else.
I had done research about bootcamps before, but I was never really one to like just reading reviews online (funny how I'm writing one now!). I am the type of person that really likes a personal reference. Around when the pandemic first started, I had a family member get into a coding bootcamp and had just recently got into a job and expressed nothing but good words about the program. That was the kick I needed to officially apply to Tech Elevator. With such a high graduation and job placement rate, I couldn't resist looking into it further.
The program itself has the coding and career development.
As for the program, it is very fast paced, in a good way. That is the way that I like to learn, so I was able to adapt easily. It's what you would expect from a regular class. The difference, I think, is the staff. Anybody could teach you if they had a print out of the lesson. But the teachers are able to relate from previous job experiences, and give real world scenarios to help make a lesson make more sense. They also will take the time to help you as much as they can to make sure you understand the material, even outside of regular class hours.
The career development involves helping you make an efficient resume, interviewing, and as well as a LinkedIn profile. The staff will not sleep until they bug you about typos, grammar, etc on your resume! They want to help make it look as good as possible for your future job post graduation, but also to help further down the line as well! When it comes to the interviewing, they help with both HR style interviews, and coding interviews.
All in all, best decision I have made with my life so far. I was thankful to receive a job offer before I even graduated and that can happen for others as well. If you have any questions, reach out to them or even to prior students, including me. Connect with me at https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-c-bradley-jr/. -

If you had told me 6 months ago that after attending a coding bootcamp I'd have a job at a Fortune 20 company making 4x what I make now with a career outlook that is literally infinite -- I would have called you crazy. I had always thought that a career in tech was so distant and unattainable because I didn't go to college for Computer Science, and when I tried to learn how to code on my own I just didn't have the willpower and time to really build a portfolio in order to get a job. I felt stuck, and back then I had no idea what was actually possible. Luckily, I finally made the leap and signed up at Tech Elevator Cleveland.
The hardest thing I've ever had to do was move back in at my parents, quit my job, and take out a $15,500 loan to join a school I wasn't sure that could deliver on their promises. I had read so many mixed, and quite frankly mostly negative reviews and opinions, on coding bootcamps all across the internet, whether it was Reddit, blogs, or articles -- everyone had something terrible to say about them. Don't listen to these people, they are so, so so wrong. Whatever your financial situation is, education, or background, you can and should attend a high quality coding bootcamp like Tech Elevator! My boss now says they actually prefer hiring bootcampers as they have more applicable skills, work\professional experience, and can hit the ground running right away.
The program at TE is incredibly thorough and gives you all the skills you will need to get a great job as a Software Engineer\Developer or other non coding-based tech role (Product Owner for instance). It is extremely difficult and will be one of the hardest things you've ever done, and I say that as someone who had prior coding knowledge and went to college and loves to learn, but it was still incredibly difficult! Don't worry if you don't have prior knowledge though, I saw many of my peers without coding experience make it through just like I did, you just have to believe in yourself and not give up and the staff at TE will do the rest to see you through!!
My instructor was one of my favorite instructors I've ever had. She was very experienced and could expound upon advanced concepts and had a wide breadth of knowledge across the entire software stack. Her teaching style was awesome, she made sure everyone was absorbing the knowledge and wouldn't let the quiet people in the back of the class get away without learning the material. She was also hilarious and made the entire process so fun and enjoyable.
The pathway program is an entirely different side of the whole experience that I completely overlooked and didn't pay much attention to prior to signing up, but that is so crucial to your success in finding a job. While they don't guarantee you get a job, they will honestly do every single thing in their power to make sure you get one, and as long as you put in the effort you will get a great job! I loved my pathway instructor\classes just as much as I loved my coding instructor\classes, and that is what sets TE apart from the rest from what I've heard from other people that have gone to similar bootcamps. TE delivers the entire package. Shoutout to Beth, Katie, and the rest of the TE staff. I owe you big time!!! <3
The most satisfying part of the entire experience was after graduating and getting my first job as a Software Engineer, I realized I could do absolutely ANYTHING I set my mind to. It was by far the hardest thing I've ever done, but I did it, and TE taught me that.

This is an intensive program with excellent instructors. Tuition is very reasonable considering it also includes career coaching, resume assistance, and interview prep (behavioral and technical.)
I recommend at least some self-paced study before committing to any program like this (Codecademy, Coursera, EdX, Free Code Camp, etc.) You absolutely can jump in as a beginner, but your learning curve will be significantly less steep if you can get some fundamentals under your belt first. -

I was originally in Finance and found myself laid off due to the pandemic. I found myself desperately needing a career/industry switch, and I am so glad I found Tech Elevator. The 14-week process was paced perfectly for me as someone with not a lot of prior coding experience. It was intense at times and some nights were longer than others, but I never felt too overwhelmed due to the incredibly helpful staff that were willing to help me through whatever issue I was having. Not only do they teach you the fundamentals of software development, they also prepared me for interviews, overhauled my resume and put me in touch with people I would never have had the chance to speak with, and this all culminated with me landing an awesome job in the industry after I graduated! I will forever be grateful to Tech Elevator for the work they put in to make my transition from careers as smooth as possible. 100% would recommend! -

I am a housewife for six years because I am holding a F2/H4 Visa that cannot work in US legally. Last year I got my green card so I decided to restart my career. But it is really hard and I don't know how to start and where to start. Because my major is CS, so the only thing I can do is refresh my memory on how to code. I search for some courses on Udemy, Youtube as well as Codecademy, but it can only help my knowledge not my career very well.
Then I found Tech Elevator. I am hesitant firstly especially for the 90% job replacement. To be honest, I read almost every comment on the course report website. I am surprised by 95% positive comments. Then I joined the virtual open house and decided to enroll Tech Elevator.
Tech Elevator course is great. Walt is a very nice and patient teacher. His course is very clear and easy to understand. Moreover, the pathway program is excellent and because of that, it made me well prepared at week 11 (Match-making week). I would like to thank Ellen and Stephen who gave me extreme assistance in my job search.
Finally, I want to say. If you really want to switch your career in Tech but felt no direction. Tech elevator is absolutely a good choice.

Wow... I am just now able to write this review after what has been a whirlwind last 6 months. I graduated TE in April 2021 and accepted a job offer about 10 days before the program finished. I couldn't be happier with the way TE was run and how much it prepared me for the job. I'm sure there are a number of reviewers on this site praising TE before they've been in their job - I've been there for 6 months and I can confirm that TE adequately prepares you for your future tech career!
Classes and assignments were grueling. I came in with relatively little background knowledge in coding. To prepare, I watched about 6 weeks of the Harvard course CS50, which is free, by the way. If you can get to the 6-8 week portion of that class and coding still interests you, you will succeed at TE. Mentally, I was stressed all the time - not for any fault of my teachers but simply because it was difficult for me. I lost a lot of sleep during those three months...
Coming out of the experience, I feel like TE was one of the best investments I've ever made in myself. It was stressful knowing that at the end of the program I could be without a job, but I trusted the process and secured a solid entry-level position at a company with a great work culture.
My instructors were great, the pathway program was awesome and I came away from TE with a very positive impression. Would recommend to anyone looking for a career change, so long as they can stay motivated. It really is important to put in the work!
Recommendations: Try to take the course in person (I did it online and didn't love the online interaction experience at times).
Lean on the pathway program, especially with resume help.
In the hardest times, remember that many people way less smart than you made it through the program (like me!) -

At 35 I was looking for a change in my career. I knew I had the heart and intelligence to be a Software Developer, but I wanted to have some training before starting down a whole new road. Tech Elevator is an excellent choice, both for its educational experience, and its job search support. Steve Carmichael was my instructor, with Kevin Teos as our Academic Fellow. Steve guided us through OOP, APIs, and application design. Both Steve and Kevin were available to help us after class with questions, and we usually used some class time for review. The material is difficult, and the course is fast-paced, so it is meant for students who can commit the time and effort. There are options for financial assistance, and Maddy Miller did a fantastic job as my advocate as I pursued my options. Katie Moore and Vinny Sanfillippo helped me regularly with questions and check-ins related to job searching and highlighting my best qualities. I will also say here, if you are serious about finding a new career in Tech, your best options are listening to what they say and buy in completely.
I found what I was looking for in Tech Elevator, and I hope you will, too! -

If you are looking for a career switch into IT, you are at the right place!
This was not for the faint of heart. The program was very intense and fast-paced, and sometimes overwhelming, but the entire TE team was super supportive and invested in the students. I never imagined I could learn so much in 14 weeks. Steve Carmichael was my instructor, and he was awesome! He kept the lectures fun, even when the material got really difficult. He knew when to push us, and when to give the pep talk. The Pathway Program was a big help for me, as I came from a field where the job seeking process is completely different from a standard interview. I had Katie Moore as my main Pathway director, and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable to all the questions I had.
One of the perks in Tech Elevator is its connection with hiring partners. Throughout the cohort, different companies came and talked about their mission, culture and answered our questions. In week 11 and 12, students had the chance to select which companies they would like to interview with, and TE would help set up those initial interviews. I know some of my classmates received an offer before graduation, and I just received mine as well - a week and half after!
Last but definitely not least, I got to meet so many wonderful people of all backgrounds throughout this journey. This was the best decision I have made in my life, and I recommend Tech Elevator 100% to anyone who is considering that career switch!

You get out what you put in to Tech Elevator. The whole team is dedicated to helping you start a new career in the tech field, and the support doesn't end when you graduate. It's fast paced and intense, but if it wasn't, they probably wouldn't call it bootcamp. Making connections with staff and fellow classmates is a fun experience as well. I accepted a job offer during the final week of the program, with a significant jump in income compared to my previous workplace. I should also mention I do not have any sort of degree---something I was worried about prior to starting, but if I can land a job without, anyone can (provided they put in the work). -

I put all my eggs into the Tech Elevator "basket", and it really paid off. Scholarship opportunities do exist, though they seem to be distributed unevenly by which campus you plan on attending, and I was fortunate to get one. The bootcamp was really fast-paced and intense. I was stressed out a lot, but I pushed through. Happy to say that with two weeks left in the bootcamp, I accepted a job offer making significantly more than I was pre-Tech Elevator. I ended up with two offers in total and withdrew from the final round of interviews with two other companies. I think about half of my cohort will have an offer in hand on graduation day, but staff will support and coach you post-graduation for six months while you look. -

I don't have too much to say about Tech Elevator besides that they're the real deal. Their stellar instructors who will be available until late hours to help with capstone projects, their pathway program which truly preps you to be star interviewer and just the culture of being surrounded by peers and facility who want this for you as much as you do.
I stared my journey with computer science 7 years ago and I at points tried to give up because completing 4 year degree didn't seem possible for me. I took the plunge and applied to Tech Elevator's National Live Remote Cohort in January of this year. Just today I accepted an offer with a base salary over double anything I have ever made in my life to work for my dream company in my dream field.
I remember reading these reviews 6 months ago with starry eyes barely daring to dream this could be possible, but Tech Elevator helped make it possible.
If you're willing to risk it on a full time boot camp to get into the field of your dreams then Tech Elevator is the program you should trust.
My only two honest criticisms is the mock technical interviews could be harder (but please note for entry level, many companies weigh your behavioral responses infinitely more than what you already happen to know technically. I did not even have a proper technical interview or coding challenge for the position I accepted.) and while the remote campus is convenient, your employment outcome is heavily impacted by where you live. If you do the remote campus please meter your expectations for employment outcomes based on the tech market where you live and if you are open to relocation.
This is not magic or a get rich quick scheme. Everyone with these stellar outcomes worked incredibly hard and had aptitude that employers could recognize. -

Background:
I have a degree in Computer Science and Engineering and also worked as a software engineer in Accenture, India for 5 years (2007 - 2012) in a very cool technology called SAP PI. I came to the US on a dependent visa in 2012 which meant I had no eligibility to work here. I also had some personal reasons to take a break at the same time so it kind of worked. I finally got my work permit in Dec 2017 and I tried to get back into the same technology but found it very hard owing to the gap I had and also because SAP PI had advanced so much in those years. For a while, I kept trying in the same domain but finally decided to switch paths. I applied for Business Analyst and Testing roles but still had no luck. I heard of TE but having been a stay at home mom for 9 years, I felt under confident to go back to coding. But I also knew I had to do something hard if I wanted to change my life.
Early days:
My coding background definitely helped me get through the overwhelming curriculum. I also had two kids ( K and 3rd grade doing cyber school) to manage. If you are new to tech, you have to start preparing in advance to be most successful. New topics are learnt everyday and there is homework ( academic and pathway) to be done on weekends as well so knowledge of some topics in advance would make things less stressful.
Curriculum, Instructor and class mates:
The curriculum is brilliant - it would essentially teach you to solve problems so that you can navigate even if you end up in a different technology. My instructor Walt was the epitome of patience, knowledge and a gentle nurturer - being his student was life changing. Now I know how great teacher look like! All of my classmates were amazing in their attitude, willingness to learn and help others and the desire to succeed in life. I have picked up so many things in addition to tech-know-how from this course!
Pathway:
I realized why I couldn't crack my previous interviews after all the lessons we were taught in Pathway! I was doing it all wrong! Stephen and Ellen genuinely cares for the students and puts in so much effort perfecting our pitches, resume, LinkedIn etc. They really make you ready by week 10 so that you know how to answer STAR questions and put your best foot forward. Honestly, I can't recommend this course enough!
This boot camp is just mind blowing for its curriculum, the amazing and dedicated staff and the outstanding people you will get to meet! Go for it!
