I chose NuCamp due to its proximity to where I live and the desire to be in contact with other students. The price is great in comparison to their competitors as well. While Covid-19 has thrown a lot of in-person meetup plans out of sync, NuCamp did a great job mitigating this crisis. Slack is an amazing resource and so is NuCamp's careful use of Zoom. I appreciated their protection of our safety even though we'd all prefer to meet in person. NuCamp and the NuCamp instructors were a great resource. The absolute key in studying code is finding others to struggle with in this learning process. Yes, there are lots of documentation sites out there, but people simply learn best when they struggle together. For this reason alone, I'd say NuCamp is worth it. If you're unsure if you're cut out for coding. Their affordable 4 week intro camp is a great litmus test. It's also low cost, so you wouldn't lose much deciding to walk away. Regardless, you're gonna learn some useful stuff in this camp. Well worth your money. -

Great!
Nucamp is one of the most affordable bootcamps available today and it is available online. I liked the workshops on saturdays that was offered online where I could do coding assignments with other team mates under the instructor's guidance. I look forward to learning more on Full Stack web development at Nucamp! -

This is probably your most affordable way to learn to be a web developer for a cost efficient price. With other competing bootcamps, you have to spend upwards of $10,000 and or more to get the same amterial and with limited loan options or aid. With this so far we got a great understanding of Front-End and will be attending to get to the next segment. It is worth every penny. Thank you Frank for all your help! -

A great coding bootcamp to learn and improve web developer skills without feeling like you are doing it alone. Just taking the fundamentals made me want to learn more in the next portion. -

NuCamp Review by a student who's 5 weeks in
I went to another bootcamp two years back, and even though I'm still paying off that tuition, I joined Nucamp in February 2020 because of the schedule, price, original and up-to-date curriculum, and the ability to meet weekly with students and instructors. So far, it seems like a wise decision. I feel like a $1700 investment will result in a huge career boost by the end of the course. -

I liked this course and recommend to those who interest to learn more about coding and UI. In my idea, this course is good for the beginner. It needs a hard study and understands. Nucamp is online class, it is good for somebody who does not have enough time to go to class and study at the certain time.flexible time to study. cost is good in compare with another school. -

Great!
I liked that it provides a structure, makes you accountable, and it doesn't cost too much. Tutors and other students are on hand if you get stuck, but it's easy to go at your own pace. -

Nucamp is a great place the learn coding. I knew nothing about coding when I started the class and now know enough to get started. Most of all I now have the tools to locate help when I get stuck.
The instructor is very knowledgeable and helpful. The weekly exercises are straight forward enough to do, but complicated enough to make a person think and learn. -

I chose Nucamp because it was affordable and it gave me the ability to learn on my own during the week and apply what I learned with my classmates during the weekend workshops. -

Potential Career Switcher in 40's

I just completed the 4-week web development fundamentals class with Nucamp. I'm exploring making a switch in my late 40's from accounting to programming. As a student with almost no programming experience, I found the camp to be a great introduction that was certainly challenging. The format being online during the week with a 4 hour Saturday in person class worked very well for me. During the week I could learn content at my own pace with plenty of resources available if I needed help - Slack channel, instructor available. Todd Sparrow was our instructor for this class in Knoxville. He has a passion for programming - especially teaching others. He was fantastic working with a wide range of ability levels in our class. I had difficulties in some projects. He patiently worked with me to help me discover issues in my coding - not giving me answers but making suggestions of tools (console log, debugger, targeted test code, etc) where I might be able to self-discover answers. Other students were clearly much quicker in completing projects. Todd was able to quickly suggest additional challenges for them to try to build into their projects. One of these was to add a option to have the computer play the color guessing game instead of just the user. My son and I took this class and look forward to completing one of the advanced bootcamps. We hope there are enough students for the next session as the online/in-person bootcamp is a must for us. -

The reason I chose Nucamp was because it is reasonable and on-the-subject. Unlike other bootcamps, Nucamp teaches exactly what you need to know at the level you are. They don't overwhelm you with too much material. I am a beginner and what I got from the course made a strong foundation for me. I found my way now. The instructors we had, Raj and Matt, were wonderful. They helped us greatly through the end of the course. Always available and easy to reach whenever we had a question. Glad I did not fall for any other bootcamp and chose Nucamp. I'll see in the next course guys! :) -

I chose Nu Camp for the low price compared to other boot camps. So far it has been pretty good ,you get help when you need it and the Saturday classes are there to review in case you didn't get something the first time around -

Course material is nice & easy to learn. But it would be great if you give more additional exercises to the members.
Also if you provide sample project/portfolio documentation , that will help the beginners easily. -

I chose Nucamp for a few reasons. The reviews were quite positive, the location of the classes made it very convenient and the tuition was reasonable. I felt like I learned a great deal in the class but still feel kind of lost as there are SO many concepts being introduced in a short period of time. The HTML, CSS, JavaScript course was a good way to get your feet wet in coding and the instructor Justin was very helpful. -

This bootcamp is a bargain and if you put in the time you will come away with skills!
I looked at several bootcamps and the cost discouraged me each time and I had my doubts that Nucamp being so "cheap" would be effective. I can definite say that the cost is a bargain - you must do your part to be successful - have to research terms and syntax if you don't get it after the videos and in class review. -

The Nucamp intro to HTML, CSS and Javascript course was exactly what I have been looking for. I've tried on and off for a couple years to teach myself the basics of web development and could never really get going. I didn't have the time or money to go to a coding bootcamp outside my city, and Nucamp provided the experience I was looking for at a fraction of the cost in both money and time! The weekly workshops were a great motivator and my instructor was very helpful. I'm already signed up to continue on to the Front end and Full Stack courses which I will be taking online only. I'm excited to keep learning with Nucamp. -

Very Knowledge instructor
DJ is very helpful in explaining the detail, I have some knowledge before taking this class, but I have a lot of misunderstanding about the JS, but DJ explains it very detail, helped me understand how the JS actually work. -

If I could tell you one thing, it’s that you are strong and capable. You are in possession of worldviews and experiences that no one else has and that alone has immense, precious value. That makes you special and unique.
But you need more than your inherent wonderfulness to achieve the life you want and deserve.
You need a map, a map with options, with multiple pathways and routes; you need a map with information on where you can go to make that life happen.
For me that map was coding.
I grew up in a small town. In washington. As a kid, no one ever mentioned software engineering as a career option. I was vaguely aware that programming existed, but I didn’t know how anyone did it, who those people might be, or that I could someday be one of them. My high school didn’t offer coding classes. What I knew about programmers I gleaned from TV and media, where coders were presented as genius-level, unshaven, hoodie-wearing dudes—certainly not for a creative-minded lady like myself.
This lack of information (or misinformation) would have completely blocked my current career were it not for a few happy accidents that shifted my occupational trajectory (details I’ll save if only because a map should consist of reliable directions, not timing or circumstance.) And as I sat in that conference for two whole days listening to speeches on reclaiming my power, all I could think about was that same information that had been kept from me was also barring these women from lives they might want to live.
No one had told them—no one was telling them—that coding is one of the few careers that can take you truly extraordinary places without extraordinary experience.
That it is one of the few highly prestigious and well-paid careers that you can teach yourself entirely online and with nearly no financial resources.
That you can be a programmer without a college degree and you can start learning to code from bootcamps like NUcamp when you’re 5 or 25 or 75—there is never a time that’s too early or too late.
That you do NOT have to be a whiz in math and science to be a coder. There are different types of programming. Some of it involves complex problem-solving that, yeah, it would probably be good if you were decent at math. But other types are artistic and creative. And that all of it boils down to just the ability to think about and solve problems and the ability to remember some commands to type into files that eventually become websites or apps.
Is coding difficult? Yes, god yes. Life as a developer takes serious willpower, discipline, and resiliency. You must have not only a stomach for failure, but also an appetite for it. Because no matter how much you learn, you will never feel truly settled in; you will have to learn something new every single day to stay relevant and you will need to kill off most of your ego and accept that you will never know everything there is to know.
Coding is one of the few careers that can take you truly extraordinary places without extraordinary experience.
But luckily the qualities required to succeed aren’t lacking in our underserved communities. What marginalized groups lack are resources and opportunities. More importantly, what they lack is exposure to the fact that this path, this map, actually exists. That they have more options than a just few desperate hours with a life coach. That YOU have more options, and i believe coding is a fantastic option ! try nu camp they are great! -

Great Intro!
Excellent intro - be sure to supplement your instruction with other resources. It isn't spoon fed! I especially valued the in person meetings each Saturday. We were able to review the week's content, answer questions, then go deeper with some applied exercises. -

I chose this course because of its low price and was seeking a way to help build my skills after failing to make the grade at another local bootcamp. This HTML, CSS and Javascript course was challenging. The HTML and CSS portions were way easier than the JS. This is a good introduction to front-end-development or a good refresher course if you have been away from the keyboard for a while. Individuals that are brand new to coding will need to invest at lest two hours a day time during the week to get a solid grasp of the materials. I did not like the fact you were not supposed to work ahead into the next week's curriculum, but the instructor was knowledgeable and helpful.

Good boot camp, but...beware
Nucamp is a great bootcamp. The price is perfect, the learning structure is good, but the instructor was horrible! I had a passion for learning to code, I was doing great in the coursework, and then she absolutely destroyed all of the passion I had for coding! It is too bad, I really liked Nucamp, but after my experience here I could never recommend them to anyone! -

I chose NuCamp first and foremost because of its affordability.
I recently completed the Web Dev Fundamentals boot camp in the Reno, NV area.
Haven't gotten a chance to do the in-person workshops because my boot camp didn't have enough people so I switched to the version with the workshops taking place via video conference.
The lecture material is great and you learn a lot from it.
The workshop instructor was also a big help and was very approachable in answering any questions I had.
I am a person who learns by reading and seeing a ton of examples in a textbook format.
Therefore, the only recommendation I have to improve future workshops is to have some sort of textbook to accompany the lecture material and give students the choice to either watch lectures or read from the text book.
Otherwise, the workshop was a success in my honest opinion and everything else should be kept the same. -

I can only say that this experience has been amazing for me. It was an amazing and intense time, and I think I’ve never learned so much in such a short period of time. You have to be prepared to mentally suffer and motivate yourself to push through, but if you do it is soooooo rewarding. Being able to create something, even though it is a small thing, is an incredible feeling and worth all the effort. -

I only took the fundamental course but this is great for those that are not able to attend a traditional bootcamp. In most traditional bootcamps you're required to compromise your job to attend classses, and not having to do that with NuCamp made my decision even easier. Don't let the price scare you away. Yes, the price is only a tenth of what you pay at other camps but this is not a case of "you get what you pay for". You will get great value out of this camp. Classes are small so you will have a lot of 1 on 1 time with your instructor and that to me was priceless. I am ready to take on their longer Front-end Development camp. -

My Review
I found the entire experience to be well worth the time, effort and money. I went into the course not knowing anything about coding. I leave it with a solid understanding and a curiosity to improve my skill and knowledge.
