A great introduction into tech

Having done this course after completing a 3 year Computer Science degree it's interesting to see the differences.
Pros:
- This course teaches right from the beginning, no previous experience necessary
- You will come out of this course with a greater knowledge (within the specific areas you study) than a Computer Science graduate (again, just those areas not overall)
- In a degree you would have a couple of hours a week contact time for each module so the content you learn is limited, here you'll be working 9-5 on it
- You will get to work on real world projects that have an impact on the clients who pitch them
- You chose the projects you work on so you're in control and can have a greater sense of pride of what you achieve
- Nology doesn't teach software, they create developers. There's a big difference between the two, you learn in a simulated work environment and they focus on the useful skills you need to easily join a team.
Cons:
- This is a relatively new course so of course there is some risk and hesitation, I hope this review has put that (to some extent) to rest
- When I attended there was just the one trainer and a lot of work for them to do to manage the course overall (remember this is very different to a traditional educaitonal course) with that in mind there was plenty of support for the group but not as much 1-1 as you might hope for, so code reviews weren't frequent. Had this been more often I would have gotten more from it. Keep in mind this was the first time the course was run and credit to them they did a fantastic job, I'm sure this isn't a problem you would face.
- The office (In Bristol incase Nology grows into more than one) is primarily a recruitment office. There is a lot of ambient noise which can be a real pain.
To summarise:
- If you decide to give it a go you'll have an amazing time.
- The team are very driven towards developing you and they do genuinely care about your success.
- You will meet like minded young people interested in pursuing a career in tech.
- You don't need any prior experience.
- You will get out of it what you put into it. Be aware that this will push you and you'll have to work for it (if it were easy everyone would do it).

The nology course was exactly as advertised, both in terms of what was required of me and what I would get out of it at the end.
The trainers were always willing to spend their spare time working with people eager to get some extra hours in. In addition to this, the candidates selected for the course helped create a collaborative environment that made those times of particularly high intensity more manageable.
During the course my code quality was vastly improved by repeated opportunities to apply what I had learned, whether in isolated challenges or real-world projects. My soft skills also got a boost through the regular contact we had with businesses of varying sizes.
Having never coded previously, choosing to join this course took serious consideration but the fact that 3 months later I was in my first job in the tech industry - and confident I deserved my place there - proves it was a decision well made.

I really enjoyed my time at _nology. The course is a really refreshing, engaging way of learning, and the practicality that comes from learning while working on actual projects feels invaluable.
The learning environment is great and the pace, whilst quick, isn't overwhelming, and both Craig and Liam are more than happy to sit down and explain any of the more difficult or abstract concepts.
It's not all just work either - there's a social side to the course too, and there's regular social events put on by Pete and the team. I really recommend it!

I took the plunge and decided to have a career change and choosing Nology was the best decision. The 12 week course is jam packed with content and I still can't believe how much we learnt in such a short space of time. We learnt HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, React, Java, Springboot and we spent some time learning about GCP and databases. My favourite parts were definitely the projects we did. We started with a personal project each week on the topics we had learnt then we completed a real life client project as a whole group which was an amazing experience. We also finished the course with a full stack project which was a great showcase of everything we had learnt on the course.
The coaches are great and were really patient with us as it was all totally new. The course is great for career changers / complete beginners as they do start from the basics and break everything down until you understand it. As expected it is quite fast paced and intense so I would only recommend it to people who are willing to put the work in and are serious about becoming a software developer.
One month after the course ended I was placed in my first role as a Java developer in a big firm which would never have happened without doing this course. -

The course was really helpful. I went into the course not knowing much about coding, I always tried to learn online but it never helped until I did this course. The tutors are really friendly and nice, they help you and are very patient. The resources and knowledge they provide are useful. -

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the Nology course and would recommend it to those wanting to get into the world of tech. The course's supportive environment made learning coding languages and engaging in challenging concepts an absolute pleasure. When we were working on our projects, the coaches acted as a safety net for when we were struggling or in need of direction, allowing for a mix of independent and supported learning that helped me sharpen my skills on my own while also providing the necessary support when difficulties were encountered. By the end of the course, I was well-versed in a variety of front-end and back-end coding languages. I found this extremely useful in both broadening my skill set and determining which languages and roles appealed to me.
I also enjoyed working with my fantastic cohort when doing collaborative work, whether it was practising coding together in a paired programming environment or working on the client project as a full team. This experience was crucial in helping me develop skills and experience in a professional collaborative coding environment. Overall, I left the course with a completely new skillset from what I had to begin with, and for that I am immensely grateful, especially as I begin my journey as a Java developer.

Overall the experience was great. The instructors were always friendly and helpful throughout, everyone else on the course was nice and there was a wide range of content taught. I had a guaranteed job at the end lined up so I didn't have issues with job assistance, but we still had good support for CVs and interview practice. Having been able to do a mock client project was a big benefit that other places didn't offer, giving the experience of a more realistic day to day environment. The curriculum was good and varied, although I had hoped to be able to specialise more once I knew what I enjoyed doing, although I understand the reasons for needing to stay varied. -

To begin, I'm a graduate of this course. Three months ago, I was studying for a bachelor of Business and had no experience or knowledge of programming. Looking back now I've come a long way. Initially when I signed up for this, I was on the fence on whether this was a scam or not, it didn't help that the interview process is quite long, but once the course started it got better and better from there. I've never heard of a course that guarantees a job if we pass the things we are expected to pass, at least not in my short period of research. I decided to stick with it and stopped my Uni course to dedicate to this study full-time. Looking back, I was making quite a leap of faith and I recommend doing much more research than me. Luckily enough this course was true to their words and I managed to make it through the course. definitely fast paced so be ready for that, but nothing some coffee, dedication and a bright mind can't handle. Now after completing the course, I'm going through the onboarding process towards working at Accenture. I hope this helps with your decision on whatever you may end up deciding. Please do your research and talk to the staff involved with the course as I know my positive experience may not be shared by everyone. Shoutout to Aidan for the great experience and being super supportive (one of the coaches that I had). -

Technology Consultant Programme

I just completed the 12-week technology consultant programme and it was a very intensive and I learnt a lot. We were taught HTML, CSS, SCSS, Javascript, React, Java, SQL, Spring, best practices and conventions for coding. It was 9-5 based where we were taught concepts in the first half of the day and had time to practice and work on projects in the afternoon. We had weekly projects to help build our portfolio and weekly one on one sessions with a coach. As someone with no prior experience in tech, I found the work and the workload challenging, especially as was working during the course as well. Coaches were very understanding of this and other responsibilities outside of the course - you just need to communicate other commitments of work, appointments etc to the coaches. Remi is an amazing and supportive coach, very lucky to have him as a mentor!
As I applied for the consultancy programme, I didn't pay for the course, however you are placed on a contract for 18 months and helped to land a developer role which is why I applied with Nology as I wanted to get my foot in the door. I would say they give you everything you need to continue software development and independent learning. They also provide job support and professional interviewing training and feedback towards the end of the 12 weeks. As I am now finished the course, I am excited to build projects, do interviews and hopefully land a job as a consultant! -

Being unsure if I had a place in technology or not, I took the plunge and applied for the 12 week consultany course. I had a great experience with _nology. You will be challenged, you'll likely get stressed, but the level of accomplishment is well worth the effort. A placement is not guaranteed but they will provide you with what you need to land a role. The team was amazing, lots of love and support when needed. Can't say a bad thing. -

If you are looking to change careers and move into tech, this is an incredible course. This course is more than a full time load, but the outcomes are ridiculous! In only 12 weeks I have a really broad understanding of programming as a whole, and enough skill to build full stack applications from the ground up. Please note this course is at an 11/10 from week 3 - week 11, but the experiences I have had an the connections I have made are priceless! Life did not stop for me during the course, and due to the structure, there was no real wriggle room (things need to built so you can learn how to build them, it's the whole point). If you're confident you can give your best for the 12 weeks and are genuinely motivated and have support around you, confidently apply to this course!!! Guaranteed job = if you work as hard as you need to and do what they tell you to do, you will get a job. -

I have just finished my 12 week course at Nology. WOW!!! What a time I've had! I have gone from not being able to code a single line, to developing multiple projects from a fully responsive portfolio, a game, a calculator and many more!!!! As part of the course we also got to work on a project for a real client and learnt a a lot of useful tips and tricks about how to develop in a working environment. The folks at Nology are fab! The coaches are so supportive and motivating, I never felt isolated or that I couldn't ask for help. If you are on the fence about taking a coding crash course..... pick NOLOGY!!! It'll change your life! -

Nology has got to be the most up-to-date, comprehensive and challenging courses out there. The skills are truly what the market is looking for through extensive react experience and the opportunity to use Angular as well! The course asks a lot of you and helps you out massively with an incredible coaching team; leading to an end result where you achieved more than you thought possible and have a huge smile on your face! -

The 12 week web development course with _nology was the start of such a journey for me. Having followed a career in West End Musical Theatre, I was starting the course with absolutely no experience in coding. The combination of really getting stuck in and having the most amazing coaches for support meant I learnt so much in such a short space of time. Starting to code in May and then graduating in August led me onto my first job in tech in September. A crazy but fantastic journey and one that I'm still on - the learning never stops. The most productive and life changing way I could have spent a spring/summer lockdown! -

I attended the 14-week Deutsche Bank ‘tech accelerator programme’ run by nology, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time during the course.
The curriculum included everything you need to become a full stack developer, including HTML, CSS, JS, Angular and Java. The course was very fast paced but there was plently of time to consolidate your knowledge and push yourself further once you understood, to give yourself more of a challenge. I loved the format of having taught content from the trainers in the morning, and then being able to do challenges in pairs or work on personal projects for some of the afternoon sessions.
Nology really makes sure to use the ‘best practices’ of software engineering from the very beginning, which i think makes this course so valuable. This includes things like pair-programming, working in a test-driven development fomat and even working in Agile sprints.
Overall, I highly reccomend the nology course to anyone looking to really dive into learning software development. If you have the motivation and drive to work hard, nology will give you all the tools you need to succeed. -

I had a wonderful 12 weeks at Nology, and left the course with an incredible job ready to go. The more employers have exposure to the past and present students, the more interest they seem to be showing. So it is a fantastic way to not only learn how to code in JavaScrippt but to also learn about workplace best practies and then move into an exciting career with loads of potential. The trainers will push you to get the most out of the course, but they are fantastic and really supportive! I highly recommend the course to give yourself a running start in a growing industry and fantastic job.

I have completed the 12-week Nology bootcamp and had an absolute blast learning to be a developer.
The course is intense, and you will be pushed hard throughout, however the extremely experienced trainers and the close-knit group of students working together through the course really do help make great graduates at the end.
The course provides not only excellent coding skills but something I have found to be amazingly beneficial when interviewing for roles is the experience gained around how you will work as a developer. The Agile way of working is pushed as well as the soft skills needed to help you progress throughout your career.
I would highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to break into development who have the drive to be great at what they do!

Technical Skills and Real Industry Knowledge

The course is an immersive experience into the world of tech and programming, with the real difference here being a focus on employability at the same time. I saw myself and other students advance in terms of our technical skill, and finish the 12 week boot-camp feeling ready to enter the industry as a junior developer.
At times the course is challenging, of course that is what you want. There is a huge network of mentoring both before, during and after the course and that is what really sets it apart. The course makes students aware of events occuring in the region it operates in, allowing students to explore and create a network and gain advice from others working in the industry.
I was impressed by the range of students taking the course too. The ages spanned from 19 to 38. people were looking for carrer changes, had marketing backgrounds, had done philosophy degrees, worked in finance and so on. That allayed my preconceptions about working in tech. There was a huge teamwork elemnent to the course, and working on real life projects really made us feel like we were in a realistic working situation.
I can't recommend the course enough, it's given me and the other students technical skill, programming and industry knowledge, plus a confidence to go out there into the real world and take it on!

My 12 weeks at _nology were incredibly enjoyable, and I have come out of it with so many more skills than when I began. The course is structured really well, and the engaging methods of training are super effective at getting the best out of every single person on the course.
The overall working atmosphere was a massive positive. Everybody is happy to help everybody else, and there is a real emphasis on making everybody the best developer that they can become in the 12 weeks. Collaborating as a group is much more enjoyable than everybody keeping themselves to themselves. The course is hard work, but the team environment makes it much less stressful (as do the regular social events!).
The coding ability that everyone possesed by the end of the course was amazing, especially given that no prior experience is required. The 12 weeks begins with covering the fundamentals and the basics of programming through lots of small, fun coding challenges. By the time the more complex stuff comes up, everyone has been given a real confidence boost by the trainers. Working on genuine client projects towards the middle and end of the course gives valuable experience. Throughout the entire 12 weeks, the trainers were always willing to put in the extra hours to help with any coding issues that anybody had.
Soft skills are also vastly improved. One of my personal favourite activities across the whole course was delivering a TED-style talk to a small group. Soft skills are super important in any industry, not just tech, and _nology certainly filled me with much more confidence when it comes to soft skills.
Overall, you will leave _nology feeling like a well-rounded and confident developer, armed with plenty of valuable skills to start a career in tech. It is not an opportunity to be missed!

I had to quit my job in the middle of lockdown to complete the 12 weeks full time course which was one of the most scary things I have ever done in my life. It was super challenging yet great investment in myself. I got a job a month after graduation and had great job support throughout. I am so glad i did it and I highly recommend it if you wanna jump into a practical tech course that gets you a job after studying.

Long term review - scam

While my experience with the course, coaches and cohort was generally positive I found that the curriculum didn't realistically reflect what coding languages and experience would be needed in the workforce. For example, a few months following my 'graduation' from this course, they went back on their word and essentially said the language we prepared you most in is now completely irrelevant and want you to focus on xyz (of which we had really only had 1 day of training on, bearing in mind that the day of training is reduced to half day in the later half of the training course)
A large component of what makes this course attractive is the job readiness and the employment contract which lets you experience 18 months at a partner organisation picking up real world skills. While i understand the current job economy is on the low, Nology continues to recruit new students/employees while knowing they are not capable of delivering what they promise - in some cases where i assume students leave voluntarily and are forced to pay the exit fee upwards of $10,000. -

I attended Nology London campus (January - April 2020). Entry criteria was super lenient. During the assessment day, you build a small game and coach would asses your problem solving approach. Pre-course was based on some videos on Youtube. I did not receive any feedback for pre-course technical tasks.. Though, before joining the course I were told to have a mentor.
In my cohort, we only learned Javascript and React. whereas, the course outlines I received, included REDEX and Angular too. Maybe it is a marketing tool to advertise more tech tools and later teach less. Later on when I raised this point; nology management came with a reason that they keep on changing the course content as per industry requirement. In that case, you only email course content that will be covered on campus Teaching less tools mean you should make a refund to trainees.
About teaching quality, I liked Matt and Shea teaching style. I found them very flexible and patient with trainees. You can ask hundreds of questions to Matt, his approach will always be with a smile. The best thing, I noticed about Shea. He pays equal attention to all the trainees. However, the lead coach teaching style was bit disappointing. He is an excellent developer but not a good coach. He has a tendency to give an impression if you are a least and most favourite trainee, that is the worst thing you want to face in an intense bootcamp. He was reported to HR for his unfair treatment to a trainee. Nology HR is quite professional. They took the matter so seriously and investigated the matter. As a result, the coach had to apologise to trainee. The reason to write this here is, in case if he does it to any trainee in future. Nology should provide him some soft skills training.
My Cohort was so lucky. We had two trainees , Andy and Dhiren. They joined the course with excellent understanding of JS, React, Python. Both of them were super helpful. I would like to say, a big thanks to them.
The job support was extremely disappointing. At the end of the course, we were allocated Opus recruiters and funny part is, non of the recruiter contacted me. There was supposed to be a recruitment day at the end of the course. Unfortunately, no employers committed their presence and it was canceled. There were 15 trainees in my cohort. Nology found jobs for 3 trainees. In later months, two trainees found a job on their own. To my knowledge, presently 9 of us are still looking for a job. The course was job guaranteed. Only one trainee received a refund. I must add, poor hiring partner network.
It took me months to decide if I should write this review or not. As i wanted to forget about nology and taking as a life learned lesson but unconsciously, I was blaming myself as a selfish person. Today, I got the courage to speak about it. I joined nology by reading some outstanding graduates reviews. Later on I found, some of them they work for Nology.
A small tip to join any bootcamp, is to contact their graduates on linkedin and know their opinion about a bootcamp. It is only my opinion about Nology. Please you do your own research before joining the bootcamp.
