Flatiron School

Average Rating 4.45
581 Reviews 5 Courses

Flatiron School offers structured, skills-focused online certificate programs designed to build a strong technical foundation in disciplines like software engineering, AI & data science, and cybersecurity. Flatiron School’s Work-Integrated Immersive programs combine coursework with a paid apprenticeship, giving students the opportunity to gain real-world experience while they learn.

During the work-integrated phase, students spend 20 hours per week in structured coursework and 20 hours per week working for a company. By graduation, learners have built a professional portfolio, gained production experience, and earned income that can help offset tuition costs. Programs are facilitator-led with defined schedules, hands-on projects, and ongoing support to keep students accountable and progressing.

For certificate programs, the application process asks prospective students to share a bit about themselves and what is driving them to start a career. The process includes speaking with an Admissions representative in a non-technical interview to allow for the opportunity to get to know each other better in a friendly conversation. Applicants will also need to complete a 15-minute critical thinking and problem-solving assessment afterwards. Applicants will receive an acceptance decision from Admissions. If an applicant wants to try for the Accelerated Immersive path, they will need to go through a technical interview in addition to the steps above.

Flatiron’s programs are cohort-based and facilitator-led with structured deadlines and a defined path. Facilitators provide guidance and support throughout the program.

Challenging, Fun, and totally worth it!

I loved everything about my bootcamp. From all the information provided weekly along with lectures and on hand labs I conducted, I never felt overwhelmed or that I couldn't complete an assignment. My instructors were awesome, and they made learning the mate...

Flatiron SWE was a great experience!

I really enjoyed my time at Flatiron and feel that I got what I wanted and more. You learn as much as possible in a relatively short amount of time so it constantly feels like trying to take a sip of water out of a fire hydrant, but that kind of immersion l...

    WARNING!

I was a recent graduate of the flatiron school ux/ui product design program. The employment rates they boast about don't apply to this program since it's brand new (I found out too late) which feels like fraud. The program itself is poorly conceived and poo...

    So glad I joined!

I had a great time and am so glad I decided to jump into the part-time software engineering program. At times, I wasn't sure I could do it, but I always got amazing support and encouragement from coaches and fellow students :)

SWE: If I had to do it again, I wouldn't

Any program is all about what you put into it. Flatiron is no different, if you do the work and you put in maximum effort you are going to do great at creating great projects. There is only a few issues here, employers aren't just looking for great projects...

A solid program if you can "be the driver"
