I learned not only how to to code, but to love coding. Flatiron School planted a seed of passion inside of me that has carried me far. Often times, colleagues are in disbelief when they realize how few years I have been a programmer. Flatiron School provided me not only with the foundation to successfully attain a junior programmer position, but also the tools to continue learning.
Since graduation, I have interviewed other bootcamp graduates. The difference in preparation is stark. Flatiron graduates are better prepared for interviews, have a wider breadth of knowledge, and ready to contribute on day one.

I was in the second web development batch at Flatiron and it was easily the best decision I've ever made. It seems like this sentiment is a common theme (reading through the other reviews), which doesn't surprise me at all. Before Flatiron, I had been working in SaaS sales, but always wanted to be the person building something from scratch and making my own ideas me to life.
The structured curriculum of layering on new concepts, starting with SQL and progressing all the way up through Rails on the frontend helped to reinforce each concept, while continually pushing you to learn more. The pieces all started fitting together for me around 1 month into the program. Aside from the curriculum, Flatiron did an amazing job of getting incredibly smart, but humble and collaborative people in a room together all progressing towards the same goal. The combination of an instructor (Avi) who has an infectious passion for teaching people how to code, a motivated, diverse group of people looking to learn a new skill, and the curriculum and guidance to get you there along the way makes me recommend Flatiron whenever anyone asks about which coding bootcamp to apply for.
Post-Flatiron, I was able to use the web development skills immediately in starting StatusPage with a couple of friends. While I'm no longer actively coding, I use the skills learned at Flatiron on a daily basis from understanding the technical feasibility of new features we want to build, new APIs/tools we want to implement for operational processes, or new product growth levers for us to try.
Also, although it's been a few years since I went through Flatiron, my assumption is that Avi and Adam have been able to keep the same quality we had as a 30 person group through to programs they're running today.

Flatiron exceeded my expectations.

Flatiron exceeded my expectations. My review is more about how I experienced the Flatiron approach, setting and community, and less about the technical curriculum which I think is not so different from other bootcamps.
I came in with basic to none programming knowledge and left the program feeling confident and inspired to learn more (also with more love for coding). I did not regard myself as a highly skilled programmer by the end of the bootcamp, but for sure the bootcamp was an excellent jump start for my career change in web development, and I am confident that with continuous learning I can further grow and get to the ultimate point where I want to be in a few years.
What I loved about Flatiron:- Passionate teachers and direct involvement of co-founders (you are not a number).
- Worked on projects with really smart students from diverse backgrounds, ranging from Music, Finance, Teachers (I myself have been in IT Consultancy) that shared the same passion for learning to code and that were all taking a 'leap of faith'. (I suppose that the low acceptance rate makes sure you get the best mix of passionate and dedicated students)
- Awesome building, location and setting (had a startup vibe to it and of course free pizza during meet-ups :) )
- Avi (cofounder and also main lecturer) was good at managing gaps in knowledge and learning pace between different students, while at the same time challenging us to go beyond our comfort zone (to be comfortable with not knowing of everything at the beginning).
My transition into a new Job:
Other than most students, my existing employer invested in me to transition into our software development practice (previously I was doing IT business consultancy). I think this bootcamp has helped in accelerating this transition, especially by equipping me with 3 fundamentals:- Logical problem solving and structured thinking (e.g. reusable/flexible code structures)
- Data modeling foundation which plays a crucial role to any technology projects (e.g. table relationships, one-to- many etc)
- Be comfortable with not knowing everything at the beginning (experience is a matter of further dedication and continuous learning)
I believe the above fundamentals apply to any web development language/framework.
Improvement points:- Increase TA/Student ratio. Although the impact was minimal, there were only 4 dedicated TA's to support with daily assignments/questions, shared across a group of 40 students (or 10 groups of 4). As a consequence, you might not always get help needed right away.
Overall, I can say I am proud to have been part of this experience and look forward to many more happy years of software development. -

A few years ago I was a freelance writer and designer with no true technical skills to include on a resume. Now, I'm a mid-level software engineer at a large contracting company with a job that I absolutely love. To this day I am shocked that the Flatiron School was right about me. They not only taught me the necessary technical skills to build upon after I graduated, but they also identified the very things that might be blocking me from succeeding as a developer down the road - and showed me how to overcome them. I will be forever indebted to the awesome teachers, business developers, and administrative staff at the Flatiron School for believing in me and for catapulting me into the ever-changing, ever-challenging world of web development.

From English Major to Software Engineer

A big part of my first few days at Flatiron was sharing with my classmates "What We Were Before." Most of us had been program managers, business analysts, or marketers. Some had been data scientists. One was a circus acrobat. I was an English major who, to tell the truth, had had terrible luck on the job hunt. When I applied to Flatiron, I had only a cursory understanding of programming. I'd taken a few comp sci courses, sure, but it rarely stuck. Learning at Flatiron, though, was unlike anything I'd experienced before. From what the founders told us, the program was always meant to disrupt education. And they got it right. It was intense, yes, but I found myself engaging with the subject matter for the first time. The program depended on building up our understanding of exactly how things worked. Instead of saying "eh, it's Rails Magic," we built a replica of each piece of Rails. Instead of tossing us at a JavaScript framework, we learned the language in its pure form first. We knew how to pick problems apart, how to best build solutions for them. And all that was before we even graduated. Without a doubt, one of the most valuable parts of the whole bootcamp for me was the Placements team. They worked tirelessly to get us all in contact with companies. They coached us on interviewing, networking, salary negotiation. Start to finish, top to bottom, Flatiron gives you the tools to succeed, the means to Make Yourself Useful. -

As a student at the Flairon School one of the most impressive aspects was the level of commitment of my classmates and other students. Arriving early and staying late are common and everyone is super motivated to learn as much as possible each day. I think an environment like that is actually pretty unique and difficult to find or recreate.
After graduation I was asked to stay on at Flatiron as an Instructor. That experience has literally changed my life. The students I have worked with are amazing and it really is a privilege to be play a part in their learning and see them go on to get jobs of their own.
Seeing the operations of the school from the other side I can attest that the levels of commitment from the students are matched by the Instructional staff. Over my time here I have seen the curriculum improve significantly and the school is constantly updating the materials taught or structures of the courses to produce better outcomes for students. And it has paid off, the last few rounds of student final project demonstrations have been really impressive to see.

I was an Accountant for 7 years before deciding to switch careers. I had ZERO programming experience but always dreamed of becoming an iOS developer. I was obsessed with apps and I wanted to build them for myself.
I had the choice of a few reputable coding bootcamps in NYC to choose from, I decided to go with Flatiron School. I was a part of the iOS-004 class which began in February-2015. It changed my life. It literally changed my life. From the new friends I met in this class (one who is now my roommate) to the knowledge I've gained in becoming an iOS developer, I am a different person. I'm happier! I wake up everyday putting to use what I learned here as a student in ever project I start.
I now work at Flatiron School as an iOS instructor. I do my best to deliver the experience I receievd as a student to any student that walks in these doors. The best thing this school offers is this ability to attract the most interesting, passionate, and smart individuals.
Each class delivers a unique footprint filled with determination, joy, and knowledge that every subsequent class looks to step into and then some. In whatever path you decide to go down, I wish you luck! -

The Flatiron School Changed My Life
Deciding to attend The Flatiron School was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that forever changed my life.
From Day 1, I knew my class was in for something special. I’ve literally never seen such a deep level of caring, anywhere. Everything we did at Flatiron was carefully crafted to ensure we got the most out of the program, and that we learned in the most optimal way possible. There was meticulously curated pre-work to prepare us before the semester even began, thorough (and fun!) labs to help us practice our newly acquired skills, in-semester tutoring by alumni, and even post-work to hone our skills after we graduated. I was particularly blown away by the selfless alumni who carved out time from their busy weekends to tutor us.
My Classmates
I’m also thrilled that I was able to meet 27 like-minded individuals. From the moment we first introduced ourselves, it was clear that everyone had a fascinating story; it didn’t take long for all of us to become friends. Our class was so diverse and had so many different personalities! Over the course of the semester, we laughed together, we cried together, we learned from each other, we supported each other. Lifelong friendships were forged, undoubtedly we’ll cross paths with each other at future jobs, and I’m sure we’ll one day be starting companies together.
Our Instructors
I’d also like to thank you for providing us with the greatest instructors we could have asked for. Our teachers imparted us with a great deal of knowledge, answered all of our questions, and were always available to assist and guide us. They understood that each of us had different methods and speeds of learning, and catered to the unique needs of each individual student.
But they were more than just our teachers; they were our friends. We had lunch with them, hung out after class, and had discussions that ranged from questions from a lecture, to the most mundane of topics. In addition to programming, the non-programming lessons that we learned from them were just as valuable. Our teachers led by example and showed us that being a caring, empathetic person is just as important as knowing the nuances of ActiveRecord or how to iterate through Nested Data Structures. Our teachers empowered us to not only become better developers, but to become better people. Blake, Steven, and Ian- you guys rock.
The Overall Stellar Flatiron Staff
I’d like to thank Avi and Adam for creating such a wonderful program, Rebecca and Jackie for tirelessly championing employers on our behalf, Elana and Carley for putting together all the wonderful meetups and events, and the rest of the incredible Flatiron staff for being awesome.
In Conclusion...
Thanks to The Flatiron School, the trajectory of my life has been forever altered. I never thought that I’d be capable of doing this. I never dreamed that becoming a software developer was an option, since I was never a “math or science” kid. Besides falling in love with programming and the unparalleled education, this program changed the way I think, reinvented my life, and shaped my brain differently.
I’d like to conclude with something we were told at our graduation ceremony:
“Tell the story that you have a family here forever. You have people here that love you and are rooting for you.”
Well, Flatiron School, the feeling is mutual. I’m proud to call myself a Flatiron alum, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future.
Thank you.

My time at Flatiron School was excellent, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone considering applying. When I signed up for the web developer course, my only goal at the time was simply to learn Ruby. After 12 weeks, I got so much more than that. Two takeaways I want to share with you: 1. You can do so much more when you work with your team. Flatiron School provided a positive and supportive environment for students to collaborate on projects together. Think about it: no company wants to hire a lone wolf programmer. 2. Ship something today. The dean of Flatiron Avi said, "First, make it run. Then make it right. Then make it fast." As someone who suffers from paralysis-by-over-analysis, I have no regrets about burning this mantra into my brain's ROM.

Ian Miller Verified via GitHubReview of Flatiron Web Development Immersive

Hello! I am a graduate of the 2013 Fall Web Development immersive, and I also worked for a year and a half as an Instructor, so I am one of several that has experienced Flatiron School from both a student perspective and an instructor perspective.
Why Flatiron School?
I applied to several programming boot-camps in the summer of 2013, and was accepted into several. However, the decision to go to Flatiron School was largely because of the philosophy of Flatiron School ("if you're driven and imaginative enough, then learning how to code is not ultimately the objective, but rather opening yourself up to a world of new possibilities through code"). Other bootcamps focus on using assessments to qualify whether or not you're good enough to succeed in their programs, whereas Flatiron seeks to surround forward-thinking and driven individuals with like-minded peers in a diverse environment. This was what set Flatiron School apart from its competitors for me.
Programming
Yes, the objective of Flatiron School is to teach its students how to code, and how to code well. But that's not what makes Flatiron School succeed. It's the ability of the admissions team and its teachers to provide a rich, diverse community in which students push each other to succeed through collaboration and support. As a result of this, students learn programming by communicating with each other while working on projects, and ultimately creating a rich ecosystem of knowledge that iteratively builds upon itself, week after week throughout the semester.
New York Tech Community
Flatiron School has benefitted a lot by simply being part of the New York tech community, and has given back to the community as well. That's the primary ethos of Flatiron School. Its defining quality is community, and it hosts meetups and events every week, such as NYC on Rails, iOS Devs Meetup, Manhattan.js, and Flatiron Presents (student presentations). The diversity of its graduates that go forth into the New York tech community is something that sets Flatiron School apart from its peers; at least 40% of accepted students are female.
In Closing...
Flatiron School has been one of the best investments I have ever made. I say this not from a financial perspective, but rather from a career and motivational perspective. As the weeks progressed during my time at Flatiron School, my burgeoning skill-set started to show me what was possible. Coding is not a means to an end in itself, but rather it's the gateway that makes everything else attainable. Being able to build a software tool or product or whatever you may call it allows you come extremely close to having a profound effect on the things you care about. Making life more colorful and vibrant again. After all, isn't that the point of education? It is meant to bridge the gap between your dreams and reality. I didn't find that in high school or college, but rather I found that at Flatirn School. -

I graduated from Flatiron's Full Stack Web Developer Bootcamp (online/remote program) about 3 weeks ago and I have already had interest from potential employers.
I strongly recommend the Flatiron program to anyone who is serious about learning to code. I am not a STEM person, I came from an arts and humanities background and I found the Flatiron curriculum to be fun (and often very challenging) but always instructive. The instructors were always available to answer my questions and point me in the right direction.
I am very happy with the career services support that I have been receiving since my graduation and I anticipate finding a great job as a developer very soon.
As I've been on my job search and spoken to working developers I’ve discovered that I know coding languages and tools that people who have been working as dev's for years don't know.
Flatiron made sure that I had all the skills I needed to be a full stack developer. I am so glad I enrolled in this program. It was a great investment!
I’ve been recommending it personally to my friends since I started the course.
If you’re thinking about making the switch to becoming a software developer I encourage you to take the first part of the Flatiron curriculum. You can start for free! And if you do take the course they guarantee you’ll find a job in 6 months or your money back. Can’t argue with that.

Very efficient way to teach people how to code by using hands-on approach and collaboration. Turns out, 3 month in enough to get skills to be able to solve complex tech problems at work. Mostly it comes from the fact that they not only teach specific tech topics, but how to solve problems in general.
Job placement is great, the students are expected to do their part (i.e. building projects and writing tech blog) and the school does a great job matching students with companies.
Considering tech salaries (even for entry-level programmers), the return of investement is great as you land on the first job quickly.

Flatiron's online full stack web development porogram was the curriculum I needed to transition from a career in financial services to a career in tech.
I did a number of online resources prior to discovering Flatiron and found the curriculum to be top notch and I was grateful for the way it was structured. It does a great job at building on top of previous lessons and is a great way to reinforce learning.
Another great thing about Flatiron's online program is the awesome community. Learning online can feel a little lonely but Flatiron set up the online community in such a way that while going through the program you don't feel alone.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience and was glad I chose to learn to become a developer through them!

My time at Flatiron was fantastic. I connected with some truly exceptional individuals in my cohort. The bootcamp is fast-paced and demands discipline; it's not a fit for everyone. The hands-on experience of working on technical projects allowed me to develop a strong portfolio. The instructors were knowledgeable and supportive. Looking back, I regret not enrolling when they introduced the new curriculum with Python/Flask. -

Some of the advertising like "Don't pay if you don't have a job". That is right. You have to understand the word they are playing. If you join to this school with that program, you have to pay even you work at the job which does not related anything to what you have learned from this school. For example: If you join for a Full Stack Dev then you work at Walmart for $15/hour, then you still have to pay. (Their threshold is ~$3000/month). If you make less than ~$3000/month then you should be fine. Otherwise, they will chase after you to get their money.
About the course, be honest, I don't recommend this since beside the certificate and the assistance in job hunting, everything else is not worth it. Basically you spend ~$17,000 for those 2 things. The lecture is always quick and not many assistant. Nowadays, there are a lot of online course much cheaper (with certificate) and some are free. Besides that, there are a lot of coding communities online for asking questions. -

I loved everything about my bootcamp. From all the information provided weekly along with lectures and on hand labs I conducted, I never felt overwhelmed or that I couldn't complete an assignment. My instructors were awesome, and they made learning the material fun! I have feel confident moving forward in a career in cybersecurity because of the information they provided that allows me to continue practicing and learning. The career services provided really sealed the deal for me. Having a mentor that I could talk to and build a gamplan of goals with was the best thing for me. Coupled with job fairs, mock tech interviews, and a step by step blueprint to help market myself in the industry, I knew it was a matter of when I would break into the industry, not if! I really enjoyed my time at Flatiron and feel that I got what I wanted and more. You learn as much as possible in a relatively short amount of time so it constantly feels like trying to take a sip of water out of a fire hydrant, but that kind of immersion leads to rapid growth if you're willing to put in the work. The support from teachers and classmates is fantastic and the continued support through career coaching after graduation was critical during the job search. It's not easy, but if you can put in the work and stay consistent the program can lay the groundwork you need to find work as a software engineer. -

I was a recent graduate of the flatiron school ux/ui product design program. The employment rates they boast about don't apply to this program since it's brand new (I found out too late) which feels like fraud.
The program itself is poorly conceived and poorly executed. Instructors (when you could get a hold of them) frequently advised me to find answers on YouTube (presumably because they themselves didn't know the answers), and considering the hefty price tag this was a problem in my view. Essentially the course amounted to a very expensive, long but also somehow incomplete tutorial on the basics of Figma.
The 'career counseling' was nothing more then being advised to go on LinkedIn and "network" which seems obvious and not worth paying for. There were no internships or coordinated volunteer experiences to help bolster my resume and real world experience.
The only value came from an independent portfolio review from a partner company called 'skilled' in which the impartial reviewer told me my portfolio was not job ready, despite following the flatiron course to the letter and doing well in all my coursework.
In short, my advice would be to not waste your time and money like I did. -

I had a brilliant experience with flat iron school, and having just received an alumni email filled with new resources I thought I'd take the chance to leave some feedback that might help others in their decision.
I chose the online version of the bootcamp as I worked full time already, and although it took me a while longer to complete it (about a year) throughout that time I found the instructors supportive and enthusiastic, and the online video resources walking you through different exercises indispensable.
Once graduated, I had my first experience of a "career coach" - Ava Miller - she gave me some great cv tips and to this day I still encourage my friends to write their cvs according to the tips she gave me. Flat iron school organised a "jobs fair" and I got my first software developer role after an interview on that fair, about 2 months after graduating.
Prior to flatiron I had done a computing and information systems conversion masters to try to become a software engineer but when I finished that masters I lacked the practical experience and portfolio that flatiron gave me. Being able to talk about code is something the academic setting didn't provide and so I found this course indispensable. -

Software Engineering Bootcamp - Self Paced

I wanted a career change from 5+ years in financial operations to software engineering. I enrolled in the Flatiron School Self-Paced Software Engineering Bootcamp, meaning I learned the material independently on my own time. It took me the full allotted 15 months to finish the course because I procrastinated A LOT in the beginning, but you can definitely finish the course in about 6 months, or less, if you set a good schedule. If you cannot set a schedule for yourself, then I would suggest doing a class in person or online instead of self-paced. But you have all the same resources.
The main languages I learned was JavaScript, React, and Ruby. I felt these languages were very useful when it came to finding a job, though I wish we also learned Java as I see that on a lot of Software Engineering job applications. I felt the curriculum was great and I feel well-rounded in these languages, although there's always more to learn. One thing I wish I personally did more in self-paced was to ask the Flatiron community to work on group projects, because this is not something you will experience through the self paced program unless you go out and find it.
The Flatiron community is great both online on slack and if you go to the NYC campus - there's always someone willing to learn with you and they're very welcoming. I've also noticed a big network of alumnis on Linked-In! Overall, I was able to land a couple of interviews and a Software Engineering job in the 6 months post graduation, so I'm very glad I went with Flatiron! -

Any program is all about what you put into it. Flatiron is no different, if you do the work and you put in maximum effort you are going to do great at creating great projects. There is only a few issues here, employers aren't just looking for great projects, they are primarily looking for SWEs that can solve algorithm problems. Flatiron does not teach that, at all. So after graduation, you will be forced to now learn that. Major problem here is that you are not prepared to start job hunting after you finish the program, because you will not be prepared for the tech interviews.
However, I can let that go if it wasn't for the fact that anyone can graduate from Flatiron. One of our peers graduated with a final project of a spinning logo. No functionality, just a spinning logo. So, the there is little value to being a Flatiron graduate and if they keep just letting anyone graduate it will keep devaluing the certificate most of us worked hard to get.
Dear Flatiron, be more selective with who graduates your program. Be more selective with who gets into your program. Focus more on programming fundamentals. Do better. -

If you are working full time and looking for a supportive Bootcamp with teachers that actually help and care than this is the wrong place to be. I took part time software engineer program as I am full time employee and trying to get to the IT a bit faster than through regular school. At the beginning we had a great teacher Chat, he took his time with explanations and I did okay in this program. But it lasted for a several months because they changed teacher and then they changed the second teacher as well. That's when everything went down. The last teacher we had didn't even respond to my text messages. I had to send it several times in order for her to respond. I mean this part time program is great when you don't have extra hours and you are good on your own learning but when it gets to questions regarding lessons you want do very well. It doesn't worse 15,000!!!!! Now I don't have a Diploma but I am stuck with loan for 15,000 that no one wants to return! Good luck! -

A solid program if you can "be the driver"

I had a positive experience with Flatiron School's 15 week SE course and was able to land a job about two months after completion. Due to covid, it was fully remote.
Summary
A solid program, but with a little bit of an instructor shortage. Like any bootcamp, you need to take full responsibility for your own progress, learning and the job search thereafter. If you choose to fully "be the driver" as Flatiron preaches, you will excel.
Pros
- Curriculum was solid (canvas, scrimba videos, lots of labs) Great principles taught
- A lot of post bootcamp job search support (career coach, additional curriculum)
- Good alumni network for job search
- Lecture instructors were solid
- my first instructor was incredible
Cons
- cohort instructor shortage (due to scaling to quickly?) - our instructor left halfway through and our replacement was not great. Also, another cohort expressed a lot of frustration with their instructor. It seems like you could get unlucky with a bad instructor.
- lack of algorithm practice, but that seems to be improving
Other thoughts on the bootcamp route in general
A bootcamp might be a good route for you if you:
- love to learn
- are a disciplined hard worker
- have a personality that fits programming (you're not just doing this to make more $$$)
However, you need to take full responsibility. You have to learn the skills. You have to get a job. The bootcamp doesn't do the hard work for you, however, it will provide you with the tools to get the job done. Don't underestimate the job search after. There are so many people trying to make this switch via a bootcamp and it is a grind. Again, if you put in the time and work, Flatiron gives you the tools to be successful. -

Flatiron School was largely a fantastic program. I'll start with the positives. I was looking for a boot camp to change careers and Flatiron was very affordable, especially after they offered me a scholarship to defray some of the costs. They have a variety of ways to learn, from full time to self-paced, so the schedule is extremely flexible. Full time is 15 weeks, so in less than 4 months I had obtained a new skillset and was applying to jobs. They have student loan partners if you need financial assistance, which is great because I found that many of the traditional lenders don't allow student loans for boot camps. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their topics, and they make learning the curriculum a great experience. Career services will email job leads every few days for partner companies or anyone they learn is hiring entry level, and you get a coach for 6 months after graduating to help you define your goals and hold you accountable to them. There's a variety of opportunities to interact with other students and alumni, such as Slack, game nights, virtual yoga sessions, and more...everyday there's an opportunity for you to do something other than just sit at the computer and code. At Flatiron I learned a TON about web development and I can easily spin up a full stack web application.
That said, I do wish there were more topics in the curriculum for software engineering from production to deployment, such as writing tests and working with algorithms. The number one block to finding a job after graduating was trying to pass the HackerRank and LeetCode-style assessments before ever talking to a person and demonstrating what I had learned. I had to spend 95% of my time on those sites instead of networking, applying to jobs, and working on projects to add to my portfolio. Almost all of the jobs that Flatiron sent required you to be open to relocation, even if they were currently remote, which was a major drawback to me. The ratio of students to instructor seemed pretty heavy- there were 16 people in my cohort and 1 instructor to help all of us with our individual projects. He worked late nights and weekends to make sure we had what we needed to finish our projects and pass our coding assessments.
Overall I would recommend Flatiron if you want to change careers quickly, aren't committed to staying in one place after graduating, and want to get your feet wet with web development. This was one of the most challenging experiences of my life and I'm so proud to have graduated from Flatiron with a new skillset. I have a lot more to learn about other aspects that aren't web applications, but that's one of the most attractive aspects of tech to me- there's SO much to learn that you can define what path you want to go on. -

This year I graduated from the Flatiron School Software Engineering Self Paced Online Course and it has completely changed my life. If you love programming and want to learn the skills necessary to get a career in programming I can't recommend it enough. My advice to anyone deciding to take the leap would be to immerse yourself in the content of the course, and go above and beyond to supplement the information in the course. If something feels hard, that's how you know you need to focus on it more. All in all I graduated and 4 months later I got a job offer at an amazing company for 2x my salary at my old job. -

I competed the full time online software engineering program at Flatiron, and overall it was a good experience. My issues with the program design have been addressed with the newly revamped curriculum, which debuted right around my graduation date, so I'll leave that out.
Program/learning: My instructor wasn't very engaging, or organized, but our coach and the support team were all really great, so that helped balance it out. Student services was quick to respond to an issue I had, but some of my cohort mates didn't have that experience when dealing with a recurrent problem with a specific project evaluator. I definitely learned programming skills, but the lack of attention to data structures and algorithms until after graduation is a huge issue (as many companies expect that knowledge as part of the interview process).
Career services - my coach was fantastic, and although it took 6 months to receive a job offer, that speaks more to my lack of DSA prep and the current job market than anything career services helped me with.
Overall - I don't regret choosing Flatiron. The connections I made with cohort mates (even in a virtual setting) are awesome, and I've successfully transitioned into a technical role (support engineering). This program really demands a lot of self motivation (specifically when doing online classes), and may not be the right fit for someone who needs more hands on instruction.

Good overall with a few areas for improvement

The course covered a wide range of materials over a 15-week period, which made it both comprehensive and at times unorganized. The best part of the course was career coaching/development. The course taught materials that are pertinent to entry-level positions and the coaches were really helpful at finding the right job afterward. However, I also think that the courses could've been more efficient and organized by cutting down lecture times and focusing more on labs. Some of the materials weren't updated quickly enough. COVID-19 turned the originally planned in-person boot camp into an exhausting all-day zoom session but felt like everyone was trying to make the best of the situation. -

the worst decision of my life, the flatiron cybersecurity program is nothing more than the CompTIA A +, CompTIA network and CompTIA security courses, summarized and without the possibility of certification,
If you do not have any IT background, this course will not be able to hold you in any job position, in the group with which I graduated, not even those who had an agreement could get a job, one of them is even working in a pharmacy, another He got a job in real state, another still works driving trucks and I still drive.
The same that you get in this course for $ 14,000 you can find it for $ 10 in pages of online courses and with the possibility of taking the tests and obtaining real certifications that can really give you a job -

I completed the fullstack software engineering program online through Flatiron School. I elected to complete the program part-time, over 10 months. The curriculum is separated into phases including Ruby, Sinatra/Rails, JavaScript, and React/Redux. At the end of each phase, you complete your own project (one of my favorite parts). I had the best classmates and instructor - Flatiron did a great job of building community, even in an online environment. The career services team is top notch and I was able to land my first job after 2 months of searching. Would absolutely recommend! -

Underwhelmed and overrated

Get out while you still can. This program offers 0 support for individuals that are struggling to grasp this material.
They don't support their teaching staff or their students.
They would rather offer settlements to individuals that request support then provide other avenues of access.
0 support after end of day
0 support on weekends
A severe lack of structure
You will be spending a ridiculous amount of money to sit online and be directed to watch YouTube videos and third party walk-throughs
Many of you that get help from non flatiron staff in this prework support channel may think it will be the same in your program. This is unfortunately not the truth. You only get support during class hours from staff. But there will be so many of you that getting assistance will be almost impossible. Because their time is spent focusing on fixing computer environment issues.
I was originally started 051721 and projected to complete the course 082621. Unfortunately 50% of the individuals I started with will not be completing the course on in the 15 week timeframe. Due to the lack of support.
When I reached out to advocate for myself and other that seemed to be struggling, I was told that was acting like a child (needing someone to hold my hand. )
This program is but a mere fraction of its former self
They offer 0 soft skills trainings (Excuse me.... they think that learn how to google things (albeit very vital) is a soft skill)
They have 0 focus on Git and Github ( Version control)
They spend 0 time on focusing on the most powerful software developers (the command line)
In the unfortunate event you don't pass a phase the force you to wait 3 weeks (which turns a 15 week course in 21) with 0 ability to reach out to staff to gain understanding of materials you've clearly failed to grasp.
Apparently they could care less whether or not you complete the course.
They may offer you a settlement but no one will ever hear about it because the make you sign a non disparagement and confidentiality agreement.
Absolving themselves of any responsibility to actually offer a quality education.
I'm not posting this to because I had a piss poor experience.
I'm only but providing a short-term temporary warning to those who will put everything they have into a program like this to only be discouraged should similar circumstances happen.
I can't say things won't get better I sincerely hope they do but at this current time this program is having severe quality issues making the adjustment to a pure online format. And they refuse to work with student that offer very valid an easily implementable suggestions to increase the rate of success for full-time students.
The confidentiality agreements allow for this organization to outright present false information about the success rate of participants because I binds those who fail to secrecy of failure and magnitude.
They have removed their money back guarantee and the ability to qualify on income share agreement terms (offered pre-pandemic) which was a balance in quality assurance. They know the quality of education has suffered and in order to protect their bottom line have removed these terms because they cannot provide the quality this once great program could offer.
I hold out hope that in the future they can provide the quality but as with most organizations at this point they are holding on for dear life to survive this current recession and the quality of this program has greatly suffered.
Not to mention the horrible mistake this company made by getting into bed with WeWork.
Avoid this program until the can get they can get themselves together and once again provide quality education for the ridiculous cost.
They make over $600,000 per cohort and the start every 3 weeks and they can find an adequate way to provide support to students.
Sounds fishy to me

The decision to take the software engineering immersive has absolutely changed my life. The operations were handled wonderfully and I felt supported whenever I needed it and whatever I need. The instructors were fantastic. They do a wonderful job of teaching you what you need to know, but also forcing you to develop your own thought process and problem solving abilities. My career coach was extremely supportive both emotionally and technically. I am extremely grateful for everything Flatiron provided for me and more so happy to say that I am part of the outstanding community that has been created. Joining Flatiron is becoming a part of a lifelong network that will always be ready to support you when you need it. -

I completed this course throughout the pandemic, and I recommend it to anyone looking to pivot their career into tech.
I came from a background in advertising and Pastry cheffing, thinking that coding was the correct investment in myself for the future. I believe I made the right choice, especially opting for Flatiron over some of the other institutions I both researched and visited...when I was able to pre-pandemic!
The curriculum covers a huge amount of content, starting with Object-Oriented programming all the way through to making powerful Single Page Applications using React and Redux. The coaches, both technical and career, are beneficial and competent in their field of expertise.
Along with the curriculum, you will learn a whole load of lessons; most importantly, Flatiron School creates an environment where you can be completely yourself. I can't stress enough how important that has been for both my professional and personal development.
