This course fulfilled my expectations and gave me a great intro into the field of UX/UI. It teaches you the basics of Figma through a 7 unit course and each unit builds off of the previous unit. The material never felt like it was too much to handle and they give you ample time to finish the course (8 weeks).
They also provide you a 1 on 1 mentor that you meet with online to review each units work (around once a week or whenever you complete a unit). The mentor they assign you is highly qualified and in the design field, so they are very helpful. Overall, very good experience and makes me want to continue on with learning about the design industry. -

This course was well constructed, touching on the background and history of a lot of concepts within the digital UI and UX sector, as well as proving real life examples. The hands on design projects in Figma were well presented and challenging enough to allow for skill development. Having a designated mentor was very helpful in learning more about the industry and getting feedback and overall direction. -

Structured, Flexible UI/UX Foundation

The UX Foundation course at Design Lab has a well-structured curriculum. It guides students through UI design knowledge, starting from the basics and gradually building up. With weekly mentor sessions and assignment reviews, the pace is manageable, and it's possible to complete the course ahead of schedule if you have the capability. My background in communication design made it easier for me to get started. The course helped me systematically review previously learned UI/UX concepts and get familiar with Figma, which I hadn’t used before. I recommend this course for those focused on a UI/UX career path, especially if they haven’t had a chance to study the field systematically before. -

I am new to online learning and I truly felt at ease with the way Designlab has set up their courses. Everything was easy to follow and understand. My mentor was great, Courtney. She really pushed me to put forward quality work. Designlab has been great throughout the course as well always answering any questions or concerns we may have. I learned ALOT in only 1 month. I now have the confidence to enter the UX Academy with the skills to succeed. They also offer key differentiators from other online courses. I know one of the biggest concerns when doing an online bootcamp is producing a "cookie cutter" portfolio. When moving on to the UX Academy after completing UXA Foundations, you have multiple choices as how to approach and form our portfolios. I am super excited about that. With the UXA Foundations course, I am pretty proficient with Figma now and really understand the UI process better than I ever did before. They even worked with me on paying for the course. It was incredibly flexible and I just can't thank them enough for all of the support they have given me so far. -

Really positive experience, well paced course with a great balance of theory and hands on practise. Lots of support available as well and easy to strike a balance with full time work when you find your flow.
I loved my time at Designlab. I thought the course was well paced and offered a great introduction to UX and UI design, especially with supporting theory to further your practical skills. My instructor was super helpful and offered great feedback on all my projects. -

Great beginners course with 1:1 mentor sessions

As someone with no design experience, this is a great beginners course for UX Design! Learning and navigating Figma definitely had its challenges and frustrations (all the units took me longer than the projected time), but it can get a little easier as you move onto the the later units. Overall, this is a well-organized Foundations course, and I really appreciated the 1:1 mentor sessions. Having access to a mentor was one of the biggest selling points for me when I was researching different online bootcamps. You will get out of the program what you put into it, so I'd recommend signing up for a Designlab info session first, trying Foundations before jumping into UX Academy, and then setting realistic expectations and goals for yourself as you go through the program. Doing a bootcamp with a full-time job isn't easy, so I also appreciated that the admissions team can and will offer extensions, if you need it. This Foundations program certainly gave me the knowledge and confidence I need to keep exploring a new career path in tech. -

Great online bootcamp for UI/UX design learning
If you’re interested in switching your career to UI/UX design, Designlab is a great option. The Designlab program offers one-on-one mentorship, and the mentors are experienced in sharing their insights and opinions. Throughout the learning process, I was able to continuously gain experience and improve my design skills. -

Design lab stands out
This course was a comprehensive basics course to get started with figma and Ux/ui design. The course is well paced and gives you a ton of resources to review on your own time. The best part of it all, the mentor feedback. My mentor in particular, Diana Martinez, was outstanding and gave me the support I needed while also helping me learn as an individual. -

Eye-opening, rewarding, and fun!
This course taught me so much about user interface, the psychology of a user, how to create responsive design, typography, and so much more. As a copywriter, I learned many skills applicable to my role. I cannot say enough good things. -

I am an independent artist that has been supplementing my income with service industry jobs for about a decade. I was recommended to take the Design Labs Online classes by a friend who found herself in a similar position of wanting to transition careers about a year ago and was able to do so with Designlabs online program. I am very pleased with the experience so far and found the courses to be well paced, informative and well designed in that they make learning new software (a notoriously frustrating experience) manageable by breaking down information and tasks into digestible pieces. -

Career pivot with Designlab

I chose to enroll in Design Lab to launch a career pivot. I enrolled in the UX Academy Foundations to learn the basics of UI, not fully knowing what to expect with an online course, as I work full time. I’ve absolutely loved it. Staff has been attentive with all questions, both academic wise and administratively. Mentors have been thorough, pushing me to really understand concept fully. The content is robust, and I often find myself excited to read each lesson and engage in the weekly projects. There are a few elements with Figma I wish they went over more thoroughly, as the recent Figma updates sometimes makes instructions harder to follow. But these are rare occurrences and I believe they will be addressed in the future.
Overall the course is wonderful and I fully intend to move on to additional classes with Design Lab. -

Over the summer months, I followed the Data-Driven Design course from Designlab to better understand how and when data can be integrated into my design processes. The course is built up into 6 units spread across 6 weeks. That can be demanding when you combine it with a full-time work schedule but the estimated hours per unit are accurate and the sessions can be planned when they suit you best.
I found the material interesting and diverse, it was not groundbreaking but the basics were well explained, the exercises were challenging and educational, and the peer sessions helped answer the remaining questions. They were also ideal moments to work on presentation skills (with data and in general) with people from the same field. These sessions were also well hosted by a capable mentor. The mentorship stood out for me and was a big difference from previous courses I've taken. -

Great course by Designlab
Overall great course. It is nicely paced over a period of 6 weeks. There is the option to dive deeper into the weekly topics by extra reading materials. Every week you meet with your peer group and mentor. The asignments are challenging but doable. The course helped me feel more comfortable using data in my daily work. -

I learned so much
It was flexible, very detailed, and organized. I loved meeting with my mentor because he knew so much and helped me learn at a much quicker pace than I would have on my own. I loved the entire experience! It was definitely a lot of work but I now feel like I have a solid foundation of UX design. -

I became interested in UX Design after feeling a bit stalled in my marketing career. I was looking for an opportunity to both leverage my existing skills in understanding user behavior online and general marketing/design principles and gain a new skill that could help me diversify my career options.
I enrolled in Designlab's UX Academy Foundations (as I didn't have prior graphic design or related experience) to see if this was something I was really interested in pursuing while also earning admission into the full program.
I loved the breakdown and structure of the course - the combination of deadlines, along with flexibility in actually getting your work done within a given week, provided the perfect balance of urgency and flexibility.
I learned a ton, in 8 weeks, I got paired with a mentor who helped provide insights into working in design, how to evaluate my own work and think about critique more insightfully. I built a wireframe for a website, iterated on my design, learned how to design forms and responsive pages and got pretty good at Figma.
I'd say even if i wasn't planning on continuing into the academy - its an excellent foundation in UX/UI principles with hands on practice and it's actually quite fun. I would recommend this course to anyone in a similar position. -

Solid Foundation in UX Principles

During this program I gained a lot of focus and growth through practical exercises and built a solid foundation in UX design principles. Given my extensive background, there was the possibility that I could have tested out of Foundations - I'm glad I decided against that option. I had slight doubts about the pace and whether or not I could stay on track and deliver something that would over exceed even my own expectations. Hands down, mentorship from industry professionals accelerated my learning and research to quickly prepare me for the UX Academy. Overall, I've enhanced my creativity, which will help me continue to upgrade my skills and make a major career shift a little further down the road. -

I enjoyed the curriculum! Designlab covered many topics and takes you through a design project. The course gives you time estimates and clear expectations of what it takes to get approved or require iterations. By working with one experienced mentor, your feedback doesn't conflict. After taking a foundations course with a different online school, I much preferred the course offered by Designlab. Many resources are offered as well as information about AI. -

I signed up for the UX Academy Foundations course with the plan to pursue the UX Academy afterward. Foundations gave me the perfect quick look into what is to come for the main Academy and what the teaching style of DesignLab is. They are very up-to-date with the content that they teach - I was surprised to be learning about generative AI with UX/UI, but there were even exercises putting it into play with the projects! -

As a beginner transitioning into design, I thought this course was well laid out and taught me a lot about design. The mentor I had was also great with giving feedback and contributed to a lot of improvements in my design. I would definitely recommend this course for those with no experience! I would just say that it does help a lot to do your own practice and learn outside of the course for the extra practice. -

With no design experience but curious about UI/UX, this foundation course was incredibility fun with the project they have you create. The project had me totally hooked that my inner perfectionist was in paradise! Highly recommend Design Lab's foundation course if you are wanted to jump into the world of design. -

Good Introduction to UX
A friend suggested that it will be something up my alley. Took the leap and joined the foundations. Initially the content was new, when nearing the end along with the mentor support, it was a wonderful experience. The time management suggested for each module was a good guide for me when I was working on the projects for each week. -

I completed Designlab's UX Design program, specifically the UX Academy Foundations course, through their online platform. My experience with the program was highly enjoyable; I found the material to be both accessible and captivating. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone aspiring to become a UX Designer. However, one aspect I believe could be improved is the inclusion of more student/group activities. While the autonomy of the coursework is valuable, I believe additional group sessions akin to classroom settings could enhance the learning experience further. -

Greatly structured and presented course overall. I was really satisfied with all the links included in it as I got to learn a lot, especially about AI usage, so they are up to date. Coming from an architectural background I knew most of the principles but was still impressed with the whole course. I'm also very greatful to my mentor who was all the time very supportive and giving me really quality and constructive feedback. -

I researched several bootcamps and decided on Designlab because it offered everything I was looking for and more! I also reached out to Designlab alumni and asked questions to make my final decision. Designlab offers curriculum, community, mentorship, Designlab talks, discord community, career services, alumni network, tuition that is budget friendly, and a guaranteed entry level UX/UI design job within 6 months after graduation or a refund of your course fee.
I just completed Designlab UXAF - UX Academy Foundations. There was a wealth of information; one-on-one meetings with your mentor, structured lesson plans and hands on project based scenarios. At the end of UX Academy Foundations you walk away with UI work created for web & mobile design utilizing industry tools and concepts.
I'm continuing on with Designlab UX Academy and I can't wait for what the future holds. -

Designlab is a great beginner friendly program for those who are trying to get into ux/ui. I started the program with zero prior experience, but finished it super knowledgeable and even more eager to learn more. They pair you with a mentor who you meet on a weekly basis that helps you answer any design question and keeps you on track with the program. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to get into design. -

It describe ui/ux works in real world
The project is really helping in learning ui/ux foundation, because it gives us taste about how ui/ux designer works in real world. From the first course until last, is like a step that guide us to achieve the final design. For me the con is too many text material than the video. -

I enrolled in the Design Lab UX Academy Foundation course as a complete beginner, with a background in construction and prior experience in marketing. The marketing background proved helpful for the visual design aspects.
Pros:- The coursework is spot-on! It's tailored for beginners with no prior knowledge of the industry.
- Each student is paired with a mentor who provides continuous guidance throughout the coursework. My mentor was incredibly supportive and motivating, offering valuable industry insights and design tips.
- The assignments serve as an excellent introduction to developing the right design mindset, effectively aligned with the ultimate goal of a 10-hour assignment.
Cons:- The foundation course includes 8 mentor sessions, each lasting an hour. However, there are instances where guidance is needed, and the mentor might not be available, necessitating independent research.
- The assignment deadlines are somewhat tight, especially for individuals without a background in design.

Fun and Fulfilling!
It laid a good foundation for future UX Academy, not only taught me how to use Figma but also familiarized me with the class structure full of learning materials and project deadlines. Really good 1-1 mentor sessions too! A valuable chance to get feedback, industry viewpoints, etc. -

UX Academy Foundations is an amazing start to working with UI. The work was super well structured and the approximate times that were listed with the lessons were pretty accurate. I did think I finished some of the lessons/projects a little quicker though but I have experience with other design programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. It was a good mix of reading and then practicing the content. The lessons were also up to date with AI and how you could use AI to help you in your design. For me, I would use chatgpt to help with figuring out my fonts and also coming up with text for the project. The mentor sessions were super good and I learned a ton from them. The course was also really flexible because I was doing it as a senior in high school. I do only have 3 classes though which helped a lot. The were only a few little things that were inconvenient. There would be occasional typos in the lessons. Not a ton but they were a common thing through out the course. Also I'm on a Macbook running chrome and every time I would click on a lesson it would load the screen blue. I had to refresh the browser and that fixed it but I that happened on every lesson. Also, be mindful that you will want to have time to practice what you are learning outside of the Foundations course, so plan extra time specifically for that. -

Excellent experience. Would highly recommend. The mentor went above and beyond to guide me . The course was thorough and well established . Overall, I've learned so much in a short amount of time. And I actually learned the material. It's hands on, so it sticks and you feel so confident in what you know. 10 units in and I can already look back at my first few projects and see such a huge difference. My first mentor wasn't a good fit for me, but the staff was very understanding and made it so easy to assign me to someone else. My second mentor has been amazing. He's very flexible with my schedule and he shares so much knowledge and tips to make each unit easier and quicker. -

I just finished the Foundations course at a part-time schedule in about a month. It is very thorough and well laid out with a balance between practical hands-on learning and more "textbook" style learning. They do a great job introducing you to some of the biggest programs in the industry right out of the gate. The biggest help is the 1:1 mentor session each week where I got to go over the weekly project, get suggestions on how to improve, and learn additional tricks from someone actively in the industry. They really set you up for success! -

What I loved about Designlab's Foundations course was both the curriculum itself as well as the relationships and supports it provides you to supplement you while you go through the material. The coursework gives you the basic UI skills you need to feel comfortable using Figma and the community aspect (which you can access via their thriving Discord server) gives you ample opportunity to connect with others in your cohort and beyond to give and receive feedback on your work. Mentorship is also an amazing facet of Designlab that helps to keep you accountable and supported. -
