Learning from JS ninjas...
Read more Read less of Rod's review
I joined the Codeworks full-stack Javascript program as part of their 2nd cohort. I was looking for a course in Europe that focused on Javascript, particularly the latest front-end and back-end frameworks. I believe this is the only bootcamp that offers this at the moment. Their 12-week curriculum, as well as their location in Barcelona, appealed to me, so I applied. I ended up visiting the school during a trip to Barcelona, and got to meet some of the staff. That just reinforced my decision to attend Codeworks. Definitely glad I made that choice. The instructors are JS ninjas. Their teaching methods are effective, particularly when they live-code examples and solutions to exercises and articulate their thought processes while coding. They’d give students the opportunity to live-code as well, which I thought was a good exercise for us. Since Codeworks is a new program, the staff is willing to listen to our feedback and adapt to our needs. They’re a great team, that seems genuinely invested in our success. Moreover, our cohort was a small group, made up smart and driven professionals. I’ve learned a great deal from everyone involved, which helped make the marathon schedule more tolerable and enjoyable. In spite of the long hours, we did manage to have a few social outings, and networking opps at local tech events. Building a solid network, particularly here in Barcelona, has been a welcome benefit, since I may end up working here after we complete the program in February. Overall, my time at Codeworks has been worth the money and sacrifice. I’ve leveled up my JS dev skills, and now have hands-on experience using the latest tools and frameworks that are in high demand across the industry. I highly recommend the program to anyone else wanting to do the same. -

Amazing Experience
I have to thank the professionals in Codeworks for their time and dedication.
The program is very well structured course, and very intense...
I would recommend it to everybody that is interested in learning Javascript and benefit from it! -

Perfect Coding Camp Experience
Codeworks was the best places I could have chosen in Berlin. It was an intense experience to spent that much time on studying, but it really paid off with all the great knowledge I could gather. -

A great experience that gave me the skills I needed.

I really enjoyed my time at Codeworks. The instructors and classmates were great and the curriculum was extensive. Looking back at the end of the course at everything we covered, it really is quite surprising how much you can learn in a short time. It did take me a while to find work after the course, but the things I learned during my time put me in a great position to be immediately productive in my new employment. I will mention though that I did have prior programming experience (as a hobby), so I was already familiar with a lot of concepts and techniques, which no doubt helped. But don't let that put you off as there were plenty of people in my cohort who had never done any programming before and still succeeded.
I am glad I attended Codeworks as it gave me the step up I needed to change "career". However, be prepared for A LOT of work! Minimum twelve hour days, plus you may stay late to continue learning, which you most likely will want to do. It pays off, though!
The post-course career advice was also useful. I probably wouldn't have found work when I did if not for the advice I received. -

Transformative Journey: From Enthusiastic Learner to Competent Programmer at Codeworks

During my time in Codeworks' Software Engineering Immersive course, I truly felt my growth and progress. Over the span of three months, I not only learned the JavaScript language but, more importantly, I mastered core concepts like data structures and algorithms, as well as skills in front-end, back-end, and databases. It was an incredibly challenging journey, but it's these challenges that shaped me into a stronger programmer. I learned how to tackle complex problems, collaborate effectively with teams, and maintain composure and focus under pressure. This course wasn't just a technical learning experience; it was a comprehensive journey of personal growth, for which I am deeply grateful. -

Having no experience on Bootcamp than Codeworks I cant say “It’s not any other Bootcamp out there” but having heard about other Bootcamp from their student I can say that Codeworks is intense compared to other Bootcamps. Their pre course work alone is very challenging making it quite difficult to get admitted but having said this, they offer enough materials and support for aspiring student to be able to finish the pre course even without prior experience or knowledge.
I would recommend doing it in person rather than remote but thats just personal preference as it can be done fully remote. I personally enjoy doing and learning things on my own but instructors are very supportive when you need them. The course materials are informative though some are not up-to-date the instructors covers that by explaining the topic further and giving more real life examples when needed.
The job support that Codeworks offers is one of, if not, the best out there. It is one of the main reasons why I chose to attend Codeworks. This is certainly one of the things that they got correctly. Not only with the weekly calls but also being available when you need a one-on-one session.

Codeworks Pay when you get hired
Read more Read less of Anonymous's review
I though it would be useful for potential applicants to be aware of the Pay When You Get Hired (Deferred payment plan) criteria.
Codeworks only award this to less than 20% of students that apply for the deferred payment plan.
That means that of the 2-3% of students that are admitted only 1 student per location can be awarded this financing option.
They pick 1 person out of hundreds of applicants which they say is especially challenging as all of the students that make it through the admissions process are quite remarkable with incredible life stories, technical skills, and soft skills....
I was not made aware of these criteria until already admitted and thought they would be useful when deciding on your bootcamp!
My Overall Experience rating would be 2 stars as they were kind and helpful when trying to have sign up and pay for their bootcamp.
I have only added ratings for the other areas such as Instructors, Curriculum, Job Assistance as the form would not allow me to leave them blank. -

Codeworks Software Engineering Immersive review
I hade a great experience at Codeworks:- the curriculum was well structured and thought out. - I could learn a lot from the instructors as well as from the other participants. - I think one of the best part of the course is the job search support. -

Delivers what it promises (at least for me)

The bootcamp is pretty intense. A lot of hours and it goes fast. It doesn't go deep on anything but it gives you the tools to do it on your own.
It is a lot of money but if you are in Germany you can go with the Bildungsgutschein and then it is totally worth it.
I would advise to learn to code on your own before joining because of the fast pace. I've seen colleagues struggling with frameworks because they didn't deeply understand the basics. Not because the basics are not explained, but because it is too fast to absorb everything.
Nevertheless, it delivers what it promises: 5 weeks after graduation I got a job as a full stack developer. Two of my colleagues also got a job in that time frame. All of us had some previous experience in the industry.
The support they give you after graduation to find the job is really good. They help you to tweek your CV to get more interviews and the do a weekly follow up to check what is working and what is not.
I would have loved to learn about Clean Architechture and not only go through the surface of the MVC pattern. -

I recently graduated from Codeworks on July 8th, and I can't emphasize enough how pivotal this experience has been for my growth as a software developer. The program was well-structured, with a meticulous curriculum tailored to give students the tools and knowledge necessary for the real world of coding. The educators were not only knowledgeable but incredibly supportive, ensuring that each student grasped the concepts being taught. I came into the bootcamp with expectations and left with them greatly surpassed. -

Hard work but worth it

Codeworks is an exceptional bootcamp that offers a rigorous and immersive learning experience. Their unique admissions process, including several interviews and a focus on basic knowledge, ensures a high-quality cohort of students. Throughout the course the instructors were fantastic, always available to provide support and guidance. The program's pace is intense, but it allows for tremendous growth in a short period.
The course is well-structured, with exercises building upon previous material, leading to a comprehensive understanding of full-stack development. While the remote option is convenient, being on-site is recommended for the full experience and the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals. Codeworks doesn't just leave you after graduation; their excellent job assistance team supports you in your job search journey and helps alleviate impostor syndrome.
Many graduates have successfully found jobs shortly after completing the program, a testament to the effectiveness of Codeworks' approach and the quality of their curriculum. Codeworks is a top choice for aspiring developers looking to accelerate their careers in the tech industry. -

Hard but rewarding BootCamp

Committing for Codeworks is a decision you shouldn't regret if you're a hard-worker and determined person. The program is tailored for you to reach the ultimate goal of getting a job in the tech industry. As a on site student the only con I can follow up are the online lessons (watching videos). You would expect instructors to have much more direct (and human) interactions by choosing on-site locations. -

Incredibly poorly taught

Codeworks promise the world. They somehow fabricate statistics on their website that suggest near 100% employment rate, however that isn't true of my cohort nor the previous one.
Let's start with the 'lectures'. The lectures are a daily video of about 10 minutes. They are vague and uninformative. Sometimes they are just adverts for databases taken directly from the manufacturers. After that you have a Q&A with a tutor over Zoom. As the company seem to pride themselves on their small class sizes you may be surprised to find that although you may only have a few people in your class ALL live instructions is done with everybody studying the course at that moment. Everybody in London, Berlin, Barcelona and anybody studying online will all be in the same Zoom call. Making the class size incredibly large sometimes upwards of 30 students.
Then there's the 'tutors'. It may also surprise you to find that the tutors are almost all ex Codeworks students who have recently finished the course and have no teaching or industry experience. Some of whom are actually good. Many of whom are understandably, given their experience, completely out of their depth and clueless. When asking for help you will often be met with responses that are completely unhelpful, such as, 'I didn't complete that exercise when I was on the course' or 'have you read the documentation?'.
The curriculum is okay. You will be forced to teach yourself relational and non-relational databases and you will be sent to Angular and React's free online tuition so you can teach yourself those as part of the course as well. There's some very basic teaching of sorting algorithms where the video lectures are ripped directly from Youtube.
Honestly, this course is a complete money grab. The lectures they record themselves are so poor that in the end they resorted to taking free resources from Youtube. The content is so poor that instead of teaching you the most popular front-end frameworks they just direct you to, yes you guessed it, free online resources. It's overpriced and underwhelming. I would recommend anyone thinking about doing this course not do so. It is incredibly expensive for what they give. I'm surprised they legally get away with the claims on their website.

Student Affairs
Apr 27, 2023
Hey there, thanks for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your experience with us. If you had raised this while you were studying with us, our Student Affairs team would have had the chance to discuss it with you and work out solutions to any issues you were facing.
Our course is designed to get you job-ready, so naturally we expose you to resources from manufacturers and public websites, since knowing how to read official documentation and find answers is a crucial skill for any developer!
Regarding our team, we hire the best instructors we can find out there. Our students are an incredible source of talent, and sometimes the best ones end up becoming teaching assistants and can eventually work their way up to instructors. That’s actually a sign that this program works really well. Alongside our senior instructors with industry experience, we think it’s a great combination and our internal feedback always backs that up.
Lastly, about our outcomes, we are one of the very few bootcamps that are extremely transparent about reporting performance. On our website you can find up-to-date stats, alongside the actual criteria we use to construct them. Something that’s very rare in this industry. So, yes, the number we publish are 100% accurate, and they can be audited anytime. As explained in the dedicated section on our website, our hiring rate represents "Students who sign a job offer within six months, with a work visa and are actively looking for employment." This stat does not include students who are not looking for a job (otherwise it would be meaningless), because for example they decide to continue their education, return to their previous company, or never intended to look for a job (e.g. if they’re founding a company). In the pursue of total transparency, on the same page we also publish how many of our students do not look for a job and why.
Above all, we’re sorry this course somehow didn’t meet your expectations. If you’d like to discuss this further, you can reach out to our team at any time and see if there’s anything we can do to improve your experience. Our aim is that every single student has an amazing journey with us and we put our best effort every day towards that. -

Good bootcamp
Very intense course. The curriculum prepares you well, and the course is for the most part well organized.
You always have access to an instructor via online help requests, if the ones at your facility are busy. In general, intimate environment.
Some instructors are themselves fresh graduates of the program... -

The way to go
Read more Read less of Anonymous's review
After graduating last year I can say Codeworks is the way to go. Specially if you're switching careers from inside the IT world. If you're not coming from IT it'll be a bit tougher, but still worth the ride. When you're switching careers, time matters a lot. Other less immersive bootcamps may be cheaper but at the end of the day your time is money, and being able to go through the course topics in depth and in such little ''real world time'' makes it for me. If you add the customized support you'll get from instructors and the personalized career support at the end... It's an easy choice. -

Hard but worth it

In 2022, I attended this bootcamp at the London campus, which had a rigorous application process. Prospective students were required to complete an introductory course (if new to coding), pass a technical interview, and complete a pre-course consisting of three repositories with different tasks. I spent a month before the course completing the last requirement.
The course itself was divided into two parts: learning and doing. The first six weeks focused on technical theory and completing daily assignments either alone or in pairs. While the curriculum could benefit from some improvements, overall, the tutors were available 12 hours a day and provided necessary help to students. However, I found this part of the course to be especially stressful.
The second part of the course involved working on various applications, beginning with solo work and then progressing to legacy projects (refactoring other students' code and writing tests) and final projects. Although this part of the course was also stressful, I found it more enjoyable than the first part because I was able to use my knowledge to build cool things.
Overall, while the bootcamp was challenging, it provided a valuable learning experience, and I appreciated the supportive tutors and emphasis on practical applications. I would recommend it to anyone serious about going into software engineering and wanting a strong push in the form of guidance to help them with this goal. I changed my career in 6 months (last to new job). -

Amazing!

I really didn't expect that I'd be able to turn my career around in only 4 months, but with Codeworks I did. I had to borrow the money to afford the tuition fee, but it is easily the best investment I've ever made. I had been using HTML and CSS for a few years, but my JavaScript knowledge was very minimal (even after doing a couple of online intro courses). I have experience in design but had been a teacher for the previous few years and to be honest, I felt like I just about scraped through the pre-course without fully understanding how and what I was doing with JavaScript (the pre-course is structured with recommended online reading and some practical elements).
I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to keep up when it came to the intensive element. During the first two weeks, I still felt the same and was beginning to think if I was able to forge a career out of this.
But around Week 3, when things became a bit more practical as a oppose to theoretical, I felt like everything began to make sense. I want to emphasise that at times you may feel lost, or just about keeping up with all the new information but not really understanding it, but it does eventually begin to make sense and now I've managed to find a job within a month of finishing the course. This has only been possible by a really supportive environment (instructors and peers), amazing curriculum and extremely helpful job support. They say 'trust the process' and you should!
It's been a completely lifechanging experience for me which has opened a myriad of new opportunities and allowed me to find remote, flexible work that pays more than double my previous salary, allowing me to have a much better work/life balance.
I'd 100% recommend this to anyone who is willing to put the effort in on their side and looking to begin a career in coding and if you're thinking about doing the course but are worried about the cost of it; beg, steal and borrow - it will be a worthwhile investment for sure -

A worthwhile experience if you have the money

The process to get into the bootcamp is an extensive one that took a month to get through, with simple tech interviews, a pre-course, as well as a front end website you have to complete all before you join the actual bootcamp. I will say these were a good filter to determine whether you are actually set out to be a software engineer and have the mindset of constant learning under timelines and pressure (I say that but i had a classmate that couldn't access a 2d array in his 4th week of the course)(he dropped out soon after). So is the 3% thing true? I doubt it tbh (This also ties in to my other points later). As for the course itself, its divided into two parts with the first part being a daily learning/exercise driven ciricculum and the second being a project driven one.
As for my thoughts on the ciricculum, the teaching style, and finally whether its worth the hefty price tag (they've recently increased it so its really really expensive now):
The course itself, while is up to date with recent trends in the tech world, could feel a bit rushed. At the end of the day, you only have 1.5 months to go over a HUGE amount of learning objectives - with front-end frame works, backend frameworks, and data structures - it can be extremely overwheming. If you fall behind in the important bits of this course, you will feel like you are drowning because the course is a learn-by-doing kind of teaching style. You only have lectures for 1 hour AT MOST at the start of the day giving you a brief rundown of the concept, before you have to do the given exercise of the day. While there are instructors to help you, they often just run you through the entire solution to the exercise at the end of day/topic (yes you have help support during the exercise but they only try to point you to the right direction). This sucks sometimes. Becuase, if you come from a non-technical background, getting flooded with minimal teaching material while being thrown into the deep end and then being given the solutions after 2 days mean YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND IT before you move onto the other stuff. Or else, you will fall behind and simply not get your money's worth for the course. So in order for you to maximize learning, it requires 1. you absorb materials easily and quickly 2. PRAY you have good coursemates that can explain you some of the concepts that you might not understand.
As for the second half of the course, its quite good. No complaints there. You do three projects and those go on your cv.
Job search is also amazing as you have job support right after you graduate. Mireria Soler, she is the GOAT and deserves all the pay rises in the world!!!!!!
TLDR: Is it worth it? I got a job within 1 month so I guess it's worth it now? But if you're short on cash, Ima be real, you should skip this one and use the CRAZY AMOUNT of free resources online.

Being part of Codeworks changed my life. I learnt a lot about programming and they gave me the tools and good practices so that I have a better understanding on how the code works and what is best to do.
Before Codeworks I felt really insecure about my programming skills but the bootcamp really boost up my confidence. The instructors are great (if you're online EST Santi is super open to help and he really does know his stuff) as well as the job assistance.
Finding a job can be frustrating and there were times when I thought it was better to give it a break but the team's advices really helped me out and the tips where key to find a job that is so much better than my old one. -

Challenging and worthwhile
Codeworks will challenge you to learn by doing. It has amazing teachers that help you learn think as a programmer, by not giving you the answers right away but by guiding you until you find them. You will get all the tools you might need to build any idea you have or solve any problem you could face. -

After 3 months of intense learning, I can definitely say that this course was worth it. Found myself an awesome job in a Fintech startup and couldn't be happier. Not only is the curriculum spot on, but the instructors are super attentive and helpful. After you graduate there is an incredible amount of advice to help you on your job search. I actually miss being a student now! The timetable of the course is well structured and you'll be learning alongside equally motivated students which I've made great friends with. The community of graduates is awesome and that is a huge benefit to help you as a developer.
I would say this course is for career changers with a strong interest in coding but feels stuck in their current job and can't get enough free time outside of work to study coding. I've saved up enough money for the course and a few months afterwards for the job search and it was absolutely the right decision and would highly recommend! -

Applied for this course and got accepted, all throughout the process was getting emails trying to get me to pay in full when I told them I still wanted to pay once I got a job I was told they made new changes to their policies and I was no longer eligible to take part. This was after the JS pre-course, admissions interview, tech interview and the project I spent so much time on over the holidays. Very disappointed in the manner in which they treated me. I suggest finding a course that has it together and will be upfront with you from the beginning. I do not recommend! Also if you do decide to waste your time I would advise waiting until they have up to date statistics about job placement as they don't have those statistics for the remote course online.Admissions Team of Codeworks

Hi there, we’re sorry you didn’t have a positive experience with us.
As our team will have explained to you during the admission process, and as we clearly state on our website, the "Pay when you get a job" financing option has certain work permit requirements and has "Limited seats available, where applicants from minorities and underrepresented groups are given priority".
We do this to make sure that we support a fair and diverse educational environment, providing financing to the students who need it the most. As you were told in advance, we can't guarantee financing before a candidate completes the admission process, and we receive all the required information to evaluate each case. -

Great experience
I attended Codeworks remotely in the middle of the pandemic and have only positive experience with this course. It's super intense - 70 hours a week, and requires commitment and motivation. I was lucky that my cohort was a great group of people and that is something that helps the experience. It has definitely changed my life - I got a job as a web developer and I'm loving it. -

I finished the bootcamp this week. I'm still amazed about how much I learned during these months. Now I'm capable to do things that I never thought that I was going to be able to do. And this couldn't have been possible without CodeWorks.
During the bootcamp you end up embracing the feeling of getting out of your comfort zone.
They not only teach you JavaScript, they teach you how to make the most of your learning.
You learn how to easily dig into documentation and how to manage your time between learning and practising.
What I loved most was the Senior part where we could build 3 projects and experience how it's like to work as a team.

I attended the 3-day Introduction to HTML and CSS and found it to be very enjoyable and informative. The instructors encourage you to ask questions and try to ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of the topics. They seem very passionate about what they do and this created a fun and motivating experience. Concepts that I had previously found difficult to understand by myself at home became clear within the first hour! The course left me with a very good understanding of the basics of HTML and CSS and advice was given about further resources for home study. During the course, students in the final days of the intensive bootcamp presented their projects and it was so impressive and inspiring to see what can be accomplished in such a short time. I very much liked the classroom space and could happily imagine spending many hours in there studying. I found the whole experience to be very encouraging and left the course feeling motivated to continue learning.

Having some previous experience programming (self-learning) I'm still surprised of the amounts of things I learned during the bootcamp. More focused on the language and other long term developer skills but without forgeting the latest big JS frameworks.
Overall very nice experience, excellent instructors, beautiful place, wonderful weather but little time to enjoy it, very immersive and intense day to day.
