Coder Academy Fast Track is one of the biggest challenges I have faced during my professional life. Over the course you get to learn new technologies almost everyday, giving you the edge to become a proficient full stack developer. But all comes at a price, you need to be motivated, you need to be focused, you need to love challenges and you need to be a team player. Thanks to the teachers, the support staff and my fellow students, this journey has been hard, yet thoroughly enjoyable and very rewarding.

Be me. Late 30s
Fed up with my shallow career path in woodworking, graphic design or 3d printing
I wanted something new
Not interested in 4 year degree. Ain’t got time for that shit. Gotta go fast.
Looked at coder boot camps and found one near me. Not many reviews, bit of a gamble.
Applied, got in and fell in love in the first week.
Intense classes, fantastic teachers and mentors. Taught me the skills to use in coding every day and helped me land a job 2 months before the course was over.
In a killer job and I love it!
Totally recommend it! Do it if you’re keen to hustle and learn intensely and want a job coding!

Teachers were as good as they can be for people that have no direction. They didn't even know what they were teaching the following day making it hard to keep up. The General Manager was useless as can be. After raising concerns she had told me it's my problem and to suck it up. Very unprofessional. I attained my own internship as their program isn't a part of the course anymore and I wasn't informed. This is just free labour now and I tell the host organisations to be very careful taking on interns as they could get into trouble from fair work and it is out of their control because of the lies Coder Academy sells to the companies. Beware, people, alot of money and time off a paid position for something you can learn on LinkedIn or Udeny or the many other courses available. There is a reason GA is number one in the market. They know what they are doing and following the rules and regulations of education.

Coder Academy's Fast Track bootcamp was hands down the best educational experience I've had. All of the teachers were passionate, caring and skilled and the cohort as a whole was highly driven, intelligent and fun to be around. I've made some life long friends both in the teachers and fellow students.
Although the perfect balance hasn't quite been figured out the course as a whole does a great job teaching a combination of fundamental programming skills and cutting edge, relevant technology stacks. The work load is intense and rarely lets off during the 6 months, there's always something new to learn. The teacher's provide constant support but as the course goes on, they expect more and more self-sufficiency and individual problem solving. This was pretty confronting for a lot of students but really does prepare you for what life is like as a developer in the real world. If you need a lot of hand holding and aren't genuinely passionate about self-learning the course will be very difficult.
Coder Academy has very strong industry connections. The combination of weekly mentor visits, and a guaranteed internship gear you up for success and really help out with the job hunting process.
Overall I felt the course was comprehensive, practical, relevant and importantly, fun. A large portion of my cohort have already started work as Web Developers and at the end of the day that's what the course is all about!

I've joined coder factory leaving behind traditional bachelor degree where i was learning ancient technology that would hardly get me into workplace these days. Then came across coder factory's immersive boot camp which was recommend by my friend in industry, now highly recommended by myself as well.
Came into this course with technical support background and had no knowledge of software development and now pursuing career as software developer. During this 6 moth’s period learnt heaps and also gained work experience. Furthermore, the professors, lecturers and staff are, in my experience, fantastic!...
Overall, I have loved and enjoyed my time here at CFA and would recommend this course to anyone.

I have recently graduated from a 6 months Coder Factory bootcamp and straight into the web development industry and I haven't stopped recommending it to all my friends and family. Searching for the right course to get into the IT sector as a developer took me 7 years in total, completing 3 Masters and a PhD but still not getting the relevant skills and confidence to get into the fast changing world of coding.
This short and intensive course is relevant and curriculum professionally done covering all the basic skills, latest concepts and framework to go out into the industry with confidence.
The friendly staff and teachers are always available to help in projects ensuring we are armed with the latest industry expectations of quality codes.
The knowledge gained, networking set-up, internship and confidence achieved within 6 months immeasurable. Great course, no regrets, highly recommended if you want your career transformed.
Thank you again Coder Factory Team. -

The Coder Factory fast track course was a life-changing experience for me, and really what I needed to make my dream become a reality. To begin with, the space is beautiful and conducive to creativity. The curriculum was in-depth, expansive, and pragmatic.
It's been a wild ride but I owe so much not just to the program, but the people Dan, Patrick, Ruegen. They were always extremely kind and helpful.
It was a fantastic jumpstart, super fast, engaging, at times overwhelming but overall awesome. I highly recommend this course.

3 months ago I had never heard of Rails and had only done a couple of very simlistic Ruby syntax tutorials online. After completing this course I can confirm that whether you have a background in development or are a total newbie like me, Coderfactory caters for everyone. I can now confidently build a web app in Rails, use the console and git to my advantage and have met lots of great people along the way! Very friendly and helpful team .. highly reccommend Coderfactory as your next step to becomming a coding wizard!

I have recently completed the Fast track Bootcamp in Melbourne and recommend it as a great way of getting into the IT Sector.
Professional and Knowledgeable teachers, interesting projects and a comprehensive syllabus covering some of the most current frameworks.
Most students doing this course are focused and motivated to learn and do well. It is not easy but you do learn a lot and there is support for when you need help.
The internship placement allowed me to apply what I had learnt in class out in industry.
I found it a great way to kick start my career.

Coming from an engineering background, I had no knowledge of any coding languages. The 6 months bootcamp in Coder Factory allowed me to get the necessary skills to be employable as a junior web developer.
Now I can read and understand serveral coding languages: HTML, CSS, Ruby and Javascript, I can make static websites as well as more complex web applications.
Not only Coder Factory provides you with great support and mentors, the team also helps you find a job after the course. The one month intership helped me have a better understanding on how tech companies work as a team.
Coding is definitely the language of the future. Knowing and understanding the HOW behind all the tech that is around was life-changing for me.

Not just coding, teaching you how to learn and reskill yourself with a strong focus on getting you ready for the industry.
Great teachers with a fantastic support network with awesome mentors helping to build a professional network.
With a strong network they even provide opportunities to intern at some great tech firms.

I got exactly what I wanted out of this course and more. I started off knowing very little code and had failed many times at trying to learn programming basics.
After starting the course we dove into Computer Science concepts which, looking back on now, I'm really thankful for. We then got onto HTML and CSS, and finished our first portfolio website.
After Learning front-end design we then mixed in Ruby on Rails which gave us a clearer understanding of the web and how it works. We built basic CRUD apps and APIs all using the wonderful framework that is Rails and then finished off by creating our own deployed application.
We finally moved onto Full Stack Javascript which included MongoDB, Express, Node, Angular and React. This part of the course was more tailored toward my liking as they let us code in either Angular or React but provided great resources for both. We finished off this section with a more realistic mindset of what Full Stack Web Development is and a basic JavaScript application. This course took me from unemployable to employed in 6 months through the help of the team at Coder Factory. The team are all great sources of learning and are committed to help you succeed. Throughout my time in the course I made many great friends and from day one I was super happy with the environment I was introduced to. This isn't one of those courses in Sydney where people just keep their mouth shut and follow orders, this is a communicative environment where people are open, friendly and willing to help you out wherever and whenever you need it.
I can safely say that looking back I met many great people through this course and learnt critical skills to the industry. If you are looking to learn coding and also have a career in Sydney, this is the course for you.

I recently completed the web app builder at Coder Factory and have never looked back. The course opened my eyes to what I could achieve with code and how to go about implementing my ideas with different technologies.
Before the course I was working in a career that provided me with little satisfaction or enjoyment. Now, with the help and support of the Coder Factory Team, I have landed my dream job as a full stack software engineer - all within months of quitting my full time job.
I couldn't reccommend these guys highly enough. Invest your hardwork/time into them, and they will reciprocate twofold!

My return to programming has been made much easier with the help of the Coder Factory. I had been previously a developer for over 6 years but I ended up changing careers for a while. However, recently fell in love with programming again. I needed to right motivation and spark to get back into the industry, and decided to enrol in the Web App Development course at the Coder Factory. It's been 9 weeks and I'm loving it. The course in the first two months I was comfortable with but in this final part, we are focusing on the needs of the projects of each student, which helps to acquire knowledge about solutions in a diversity of subjects. I recommend for programmers who want to upgrade their skills and for those starting out who don't understand anything about programming, as the content has been taught in a simple, clear and effective way.

The 6 month Coder Factory Academy fast-track course is a great experience from start to finish. The course content is modern and relevant. Throughout the course we were introduced to many technologies, frameworks and tools, all of which I have since used and relied on as a working professional web developer.
The teachers and supporting staff are extremely knowledgeable and are only too happy to answer questions and explain concepts in detail. They encourage creativity and provoke thought from their students. Throughout the course we also had a huge number of industry professionals and mentors come in for a chat, answer our questions and give valuable industry insight.
Additionally, I was blown away with the level of support received at the end of the course in gaining employment. I feel this is an invaluable aspect of the course that can sometimes be overlooked. To have reputable contacts fighting for you to get work makes that first step into employment well within reach, and graduating with a Diploma of Software Engineering helps a lot also.
Acquiring the skills needed to become a web-developer can be daunting due to it being such a broad industry, but by doing the Coder Factory 6 month fast-track course, and by being driven and self-productive, I have no doubt that anyone can successfully become a working web-developer.

The CoderFactory Academy 6-month bootcamp is an intensive and thorough introduction to full-stack web development. I was part of the first cohort and recently graduated. I found the experience to be both thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding. I have also found work as a junior developer on graduating.
The course covers an array of skills that will give you the knowledge and tools you need to become employable as a full-stack web developer, or begin working on your own startup ideas.
The course begins with an overview of computer science, including some basics on computer hardware as it relates to software development. From there it quickly transitions to HTML and CSS, before moving to programming fundamentals with an emphasis on Ruby. The majority of the course, particularly in the begining, is based around creating full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails. The scope is broad, and covers everything from the database layer, through to the front-end interface.
There is plenty of advice on how to use databases, including SQL and noSQL, building a CRUD application, and creating elegant UX/UI design. There is also scope, throughout the course, to pick up trending technologies like Angular and React.
Towards the end of the course, you are encouraged to broaden your skills toward your particular strengths and passion. I focused heavily on NodeJS and ReactJS, and was well supported by the team.
Another strength of the course is the interaction you will get with developers within the industry, which I found provided valuable insights. Most importantly, the teachers and fellow students are fantastic fun to be around, and were one of the most valuable assets of the course. In particular Pete Argent, Trent Shields, Dan Siepen, and Steph Schaffer were fantastic as teachers and mentors throughout the course, and were invaluable in preparing me for working as a developer upon graduation. My fellow students were also a fantastic bunch from a broad range of backgrounds, and I doubt I would have been successful without their support. I have come out of the course with great friends and good memories.
In the end, the course is what you make it. Hard work and a good attitude will go a long way toward preparing you for work as a developer. The CoderFactory Academy is the perfect place for you if you are ready to put in the effort. The support and knowledge they provide will give you what you need to succeed. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I'm currently attending the Part-Time Web App Developer Course and it is by far the best web development course I have experienced, mainly for these reasons:
- Students are given after-hours support via Slack
- The latest web development technologies are taught with best practices (already teaching Rails 5!)
- Unlike most bootcamps, the teachers go into the necessary Comp Sci theory to produce better developers.
- I've also seen other students who have missed classes be given the opportunity to catch up via 1-on-1 instruction after classes!
- We're given the best resources out there in order to develop our skills outside class, along with detailed class notes for each lesson so we can prepare ourselves for next class.

I just completed the 1Q15 Master's Class at Coder Foundry. If you want to jump-start your career, this is your place. It is a professional environment that leaks integrity from the top down. We learned ASP.net, javascript, CSS, HTML5, AngularJS and related in a Visual Studio environment. The instructors provide direction, and rather than hand-holding they encourage you to develop problem solving skills that will extend beyond the course.
Check out Coder Foundry if you are serious about upgrading your skills and getting a great job.

Fast Track
Overall the fast track course is great for beginners, only wished there was more content of Node Js for backend development, instead of using Ruby on Rails for MERN API.
Big shout out to Glen Johnson, the "educator assistant", he is a huge reason that made this course a great experience! -

Fast track bootcamp is pretty good
Decent course teaching web development coding for Ruby, Rails, JavaScript and React. They give you a lot of info and support, it's intensive but if you spend the time listening, learning and applying, it will serve you well. Internship optional at end isn't guaranteed. -

the course structure has big problem! their lesson only teach part of full stack, so after class you still can't finish a whole full stack website individually and have to do research by yourself.
They used to say they did not prefer front-end or back-end, but the fact is that they completely ignored front-end teaching and only taught CSS skills for 2 weeks in the first semester, and then did not involve front-end teaching. it should be said that they are institutions that tend to back-end teaching.
In the last term, the course arrangement was very unreasonable and the course content was rushed, so students have many problems in the final project.
So if you don't have a certain programming foundation, it's not the best choose for you! there are many students drop out the course. And another important point that there are lots of dramas happened during the class, coding not working properly and plugs install problems happen all the time.
For assignment, in the academy requirement 100-200 words for each question, but teacher will tell you that requirement only reach to pass level, you have to submit 300-400words each question if you want to get D or HD. So all students spend lots of time to do these research and still need to do practices.
Before you plan to register for classes, you must think carefully, academy say they will guarantee offer you internship opportunities after finish the course, but in fact not everyone can get the internship, and academy will ask you to wait or try to find job by yourself, but it's very difficult for people who just finish course without any experiences.
maybe it's only happen on me.... but just let everyone know about that before you make the decision. -

An Actually Honest Review

Just a heads up for those people reading through these reviews, I'd like to suggest taking them with a grain of salt. I've spoken with a number of these people leaving reviews throughout the course and they've said many things which leaves me baffled as to why they would leave 5 star reviews. I imagine it's a combination of them forgetting how they felt throughout the course, just being happy now that they are nearing its completion, or being concerned that there will be negative ramifications if they leave a negative (or accurate) review.
Pros:
- I've learnt a lot and am ultimately happy I've done the course.
- I've been placed into an internship at a great company which could set me up for moving into the industry.
- Met great people throughout the course
- The teachers make themselves easily available to message any day of the week if you have any questions about the content (although I feel like this could also lead to burnout as they don't necessarily take as much time away from the course as they need to).
- Feedback was recieved and action taken when people were unhappy with a number of things (so this means the below cons may have been mitigated somewhat). However, this took a long time to happen and numerous complaints and discomfort during classtimes (it was clear the lead teacher had read negative feedback and made a number of passive agressive and self-deprecating comments as a result).Cons:
- Course content was all over the place with no clear structure of what was going on from day to day.
- A teacher was let go during the course. I'd speculate that that was in relation to his behaviour in class, lack of willingness to record videos of the lectures, and general attitude. During the teachers deterioration, the number of students showing up to class dropped significantly because people found it more useful trying to self-learn (I understand that self-learning is a part of becoming a web developer but I signed up to the course so I didn't have to purchase additional online courses.)
- CSS teaching was really disappointing, at that point I considered leaving the course because we were just told to play online CSS games and were just watching videos in class (we could do this at home).
- The teachers were clairly unhappy with how management operated in Sydney, which as a student I didn't need to be exposed to. Would have been more professional to deal with it in meetings rather than being vocal about it in class (which distracted from the reason we were here).
- Communication from those providing job assistance was lacklustre. We were provided example CVs hours before we were told we needed to submit our own (and the examples didn't relate exactly to our situation because they were post-internship CVs and we were applying for our internships). I'm about to start my internship in a week and do not have the email of the person I will be working for and am not even sure what time I will be starting (the job assistance has however told me they have scheduled an email for next week).
- Mentor talks were hit and miss and we were often convinced to show up to class without them saying what for (this is because they often weren't great).
- Teachers suggested we do a number of things just to tick boxes rather than put a positive spin on the fact that we were learning skills that might be useful. Discrete maths was just something we "needed to remember for the test" but it cost us a lot of money to be here so I'd prefer they emphasise the fact that this could be useful in software development.
- The way people were assigned to internships seemed like a lucky dip with people who I know are capable web developers not receiving any interviews while others recieved 3. -

Life Changing Experience

My time at Coder Academy was one of the best experiences of my life! I made life long friends, got employed but most importantly I rediscovered my passion for learning.
Before going to Coder Academy, I was working a job that I had no passion for, or was challenged in. I had finished University and thought I can't be doing this for the rest of my life. I had no idea on how to code, or even the mindset you should take when tackling these big problems. My friend was a developer and I was always interested in the problems they solved, so I decided to give Coder Academy a real go.
In my opinion, Coder Academy really separates itself from the pack for 4 key reasons.
1) The staff are amazing, and really care about you as a person and want you to succeed. One of the annoying things about finishing is I don't see them as much as I use to!
2) You will be surrounded by like minded people who you really learn from and grow with. This sort of environment will expedite your learning!
3) 27 Weeks instead of 12 weeks like other bootcamps. In my opinion the concepts you cover cannot be absorbed in 12 weeks and I really enjoyed the longer time.
4) The internship! I was not hired where I interned, however the learning experience was fantastic. Lucky enough I was able to get a job after because of the contacts provided for me by Coder Academy. You get what you put in, and if you truly immerse yourself in this experience I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Ask lots of questions! Go to meet-ups! Go to Hackathons! You are in a place where your learning is number one priority and if you make it yours then good things will naturally follow.
Overall, the course will not teach you everything about coding, but that's not what is important. What is important is learning how to learn and loving it, since that's what your life will be as a developer. This is a fantastic launching pad for your career and I wish anyone who does it good luck and to have fun!

The curriculum is great, staffs are great except the instructors. We were 36 students and by the time we reached our term4- only 23 students left as most of us didn't want to give up.
If you your instructors names are Michael or Luke, do me a favour, just run away. They do not worth your time, let alone $$.
If you still decide to pursue the course, do not forget use your census date(every term ,they have to by law provide you a date, you have an option to leave the course).
Course is ok, instructors are defenitely NOT.

Best bootcamp for Australian residents
Read more Read less of Anonymous's review
Coder Academy's fast track coding bootcamp is perhaps the only bootcamp in the world that you can do with government-sponsored student loans. The only catch of that is you have to be qualifed Australian citizens or residents to reap this special benefit. It is by far the most appealing thing about this bootcamp.
Overall, the experience was excellent with the just the perfect mix of student for this particular cohort of graduates. The tutors provided good mix of help and guidance without too much spoonfeeding. Some bootcampers that rely on too much spoonfeeding for their learning could not catch up and they could have been filtered earlier during the interview process.
Mentors that gave talk to the group throughout the course were 50:50 hit or miss. Most of them were only interested in promoting themselves.
The arranged internship process was a disaster and it caused many people in the cohort unnecessary grief. As the bootcamp program grows larger and the intake size increases, their promised guaranteed internship opportunities will dwindle, at least the good ones. Next batch of students should plan ahead and plan strategically for their job hunt after graduation – preferably weeks in advance before graduating.

I completed a bootcamp with Coder Factory and I can say I am a new person!
Being fairly new to code apart from what I had learnt from Uni, I had the opportunity to learn 2 stacks with Ruby on Rails along with the MEAN stack and reactjs which I have noticed everyone is looking for.
The teachers were very knowledgable and interactive with the class and we all were able to work together giving our own ideas and a good contribution. I had completed a Masters a while back and touched on more than basics of code in Java and some HTML, it seemed like I had completed a course just to do homework and come out with no real idea about development and made my views on development a weak career choice!
As I started to look for work it became very hard for me and it seemed like there were a whole heap of opportunities out there, just I wasn't right for the picking it seems. Luckly a friend had told me about Coder Factory and what they do and that he had also gotten a job at the end of it.
I had a look around at other courses and there was one that seemed similar, but then Coder Factory is an accredited course and the background on the teachers was very impressive.
All in all, the course taught me about Agile, to build web applications, to read and problem solve someone elses code (in the past I had no idea what I was looking at!) and 2 tech stacks along with a range or commonly used tools, libraries and frameworks.
I had only just started with a well renound organisation and after my second week I have been offered a position after my internship.
So all I can say, thank you Coder Factory, you opened my eyes to the real world of development and I have a strong passion for the industry and know I can do anything in the future.

These guys have the right hint, they're accredited, they are the right time frame as well, 6 months, to let the mind to not only accept but also grow on the skills one would have learnt. They kept everyone engaged by introducing them to relevant and influential leaders in the industry (much needed) all whilst practicing technology that is not easy but technology that is relevant.
I found the lecturers well praticed and organised, they know what theyre doing in the competitive environment, the consistency of the lecturers helped the students communicate and connect well with the teaching style and content.
All aspects of the web were covered and education was encouraged at every single point throughtout. They are the future of programming bootcamps in Sydney, they're honest, outcomes driven and content/quality focused.
Dan, Pete and Raman have done a good job kicking this off the ground and the sky is only the limit for these hustlers.
I would recommend them 100% for anyone looking to become a good programmer with a job, rather one that just lands a random job.
All the best guys!
PS: No one comes out "good" in three months, especially after a 0 base. Any bootcamp that sells that...well you know what they're selling
