Affordable bootcamp with a huge flexibility in schedule!
Started this course a month ago after a long break from learning to code. The Flexible schedule and self-paced learning is what convinced me to join this bootcamp. The curriculum is challenging. You do need to put in some effort to learn. There is a lot of content to digest. If you can dedicate a good chunk of time outside of work, you can finish the course in 7-8 months. -

You'll have everything you need to become a master of full stack
Super rich content, their curriculum is amazing. Far more in depth than other free online courses. The mentors are helpful and smart, they know the content extremely well. I would be lost trying to learn on my own. I have only done very basic programming before, no website development experience. -

I'm loving it
I'm currently in the middle of the Full Stack Developer Course and I'm loving it.
I have learned so much and I am already able to build useful applications for my professional and casual things. It's online, self paced, and affordable, what's not to like about it? -

Before joining Altcademy, I read many reviews and compared their pricing with other similar programs. It turns out they were actually the most affordable. Then I compared their curriculum and support with other programs, the material coverage is very similar to the well known bootcamps. Altcademy provides less face time, but after contacting a couple alumni on linkedin, they said the included office hours were enough to last through the whole duration. Altcademy seems to be a middle ground between the more expensive bootcamps and the cheaper self-learning courses. I have now gone through 2 out of 7 courses of the program. The curriculum is beginner level and very well written. It has both auto graded assignments and more in-depth mentor graded assignments. Feedback from my mentor have been very helpful. I am really enjoying my time here. -

My decision to pursue a coding bootcamp is influenced by a desire to improve my job prospects. I am working and don't want to quit my job to join a fulltime bootcamp. So I chose an online part time bootcamp to learn at my own pace and continue working. I am happy with this decision, I am now studying 15-18hrs a week, about 2 hours on work days, and 3-5 hours on days I don't work. I just finished the first course on HTML and CSS and I am happy with the experience so far. -

I chose Altcademy for the price and the support. After studying part-time for 7 months, I am about 80% through the curriculum. It is really an amazing experience and I really recommend it to anyone who wants to learn web development but does not have the luxury to pay 10k or sign an ISA. My mentor is responsive, helpful and smart. The content is good, complete, and detailed. The exercises are fun and challenging. I am now working on the rails course and learning to build APIs. There is so much more to learn, but I now know what it would take and I know I can do it. -

great experience!
I am currently taking the fullstack program, and it is very challenging yet satisfying. I was impressed with the curriculum and can confidently say that they have one of the best content out there. The mentors are very responsive and helpful, which I really appreciate. Great experience! -

I chose this course because I had a budget I had to adhere to. I really like that there are so many learning tools available for such an affordable price. There is an AI code debugger which is super helpful, a coding exercise platform, a Q&A platform with lots of questions from other students. The material is very beginner friendly, and I learned a lot of practical knowledge. There were a lot of exercises and assignments that really increased my understanding of the topics taught. If you are committed and put in the work you will learn a lot of useful web development skills.
Pros: very affordable, beginner friendly, lots of exercises and assignments, online and remote, self-paced learning. -

Before joining Altcademy, I had taken some online courses on JavaScript, HTML and CSS. It was a struggle going through most of them, and I lacked motivation at some point. So I thought it's time to buckle down and learn how to code. I also thought it's good to have some mentorship to keep me on track. My research led me to Altcademy. Overall, the program is great. I really like the way it is taught, and a flexible schedule is essential for me, so I can go at my own pace. -

Beginner-friendly, comprehensive curriculum, and very helpful and responsive mentors.
I really enjoyed learning web development at Altcademy. The best part is the support from the mentors and the quality of the curriculum. The curriculum is updated periodically, and you will have access to the latest content no matter when you signed up. -

I compared different online bootcamp options before selecting Altcademy, and they were mostly in the 10-20k USD range. I spent time going through Altcademy's curriculum, and their reviews, to make my decision. Altcademy's curriculum is almost exactly the same as all the other bootcamp's curriculum. I won't go into details about the curriculum as it is not something everyone needs to know. But the highlights are, part tutorials, part projects, and part exercises. Lots of exercises. Altcademy provides less live support than the more expensive bootcamps, but slack chat and 7 hours of office hours should be enough to get anyone through the whole program. There really isn't a need to shell out 10 to 20k unless you need that "job guarantee". -

Altcademy is a bootcamp that allows its students work remotely and, on their time, and pace. The material is quite comprehensive and challenging at the same time, but it is worth learning. There are a lot of assignments and projects that you can use to improve your skills as a programmer and as an overall thinker. I think this bootcamp is best for people that want a career change without having to make any significant changes to their life. Whether they are a beginner or an intermediate, this bootcamp is for everyone.
- Self-paced learning allows a flexible schedule,
- Part-time friendly & Full-time friendly
- Beginner-friendly
- More affordable than other bootcamps
- Being 100% online and remote -

I took the Front-end program because I wanted to add features and manage my family business's website. My experiences with learning to code were all from other online video based courses. It took some adjustment, following the text based curriculum on Altcademy. Once I got used to it, progress is much faster than learning from videos. It took me six months to finish the program, since life got in the way a few times. My mentor was very knowledgeable and assisted me through each step. I highly recommend this to complete beginners. -

The program is professionally delivered and I am very thankful they are offering it at such an affordable price. I learned the skills needed to build standard CRUD full-stack websites, using react for frontend, and ruby on rails for the backend. There is a slack channel where I can meet other students and get help from mentors. I chose the personalized plan and was able to have live 1 on 1 sessions with my mentor. Towards the end of the program, I worked on a decently in-depth project with an idea of my own. There are dozens of other smaller projects that I built along the way. I use those projects as part of my portfolio and resume for job applications. I also learned some algorithms and data structure concepts at the end of the program, plus practiced on interview questions. They also helped me polish my resume and linkedin profile. There is a lot of content to get through, don't plan on starting unless you can dedicate at least 10-20 hours a week studying. -

The Fullstack course is a great way to get started with web development. It has a very comprehensive curriculum, along with a series of exercises that will help you understand and learn how to apply the concepts. You start by learning html, css, js, react, then ruby and rails, and finally they will teach you how to combine everything to build full stack applications. The course is designed for beginners, but it is also suitable for people with prior knowledge. I had taken a few online courses before and I found this course to be more in depth. If you are learning full-time, you can finish the whole course in 4-5 months, then you will be able to start working on your own projects, or apply to jobs. -

Great program that covers the majority of topics in web development. The curriculum is clear and well structured, and there are a lot of hands-on assignments and projects. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have learned a lot and feel very confident that I have a good grasp of the material. I have also been able to use the new skills in my job. I am very happy with the program and I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn web development. -

Overall the program is very good, well worth the price. It is divided into 5 portions, frontend, backend, fullstack, portfolio building, and computer science fundamentals. There is also a career course to help you prepare for job applications and interviews. The transition from one course to another is very smooth. Concepts are well explained with examples and analogies. If you need help, you can contact a mentor. They are very good at finding out where you are stuck, and are very patient. To succeed, you are expected to put in a lot of work, somewhere between 40-50 hours a week if you can study full time. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn web development. It is a great way to get into the field of web development and get a job. I am currently working as a junior frontend developer after completing the program. -

Initially the exceptionally low price compared to other online schools made me hesitant as I thought it's too good to be true. But after reading many reviews, going through their website thoroughly and completing their free coding 101 course gave me enough confidence to sign up. The coding 101 course lets you see their learning platform and their content style, you should do it if you are considering. For the program, you will be studying on your own, but your homework is marked by an instructor and there is a slack channel where you can ask questions. The mentors respond fairly quickly and professionaly. The content is almost all text and images. Occasionally there are videos for harder topics, which is a nice change. The strength of this program lies in the exercises and projects. I learned the most from completing projects. They start with cloning just the frontend of famous sites. Then move on to building various frontend apps with JavaScript, jquery, and react. Then api backends with rails, and finally fullstack projects including an airbnb clone. Projects are very hard and I had to refer back to the curriculum often. But I learned a lot. I am now working on my portfolio project and after this I will go through their career course and start looking for a job. This journey has been nearly 8 months and I woudn't have believed that I could have learned so much if someone told me then. I am very grateful for my mentors who are so kind and helpful, they kept me going. This is a hidden gem, people who took it will certainly agree. -

My experience with Altcademy has been nothing but exceptional. The program will give you a head to toe anatomy of web development. You will learn enough to fend for yourself in the future. The content is written with beginners in mind. Concepts are explained in clean, concise manners. Exercises and projects are there to reinforce your learning. You can contact a mentor when you get stuck, they are seasoned engineers and will resolve your issues very quickly. By graduation, you would have completed a dozen projects, and a custom capstone portfolio project. They will review your resume, linkedin profile, and give you tips on job search, but no career services is provided. Take this course, you won't regret it.
A word of advice for beginners. Programming is hard, really hard, and anyone who tells you that you can go from zero to hero in three months is not being completely honest. The truth is learning web development up to a decent junior level competency from no prior knowledge is going to take at least eight to ten months, and you are just scratching the surface. This is not discouragement though, hard things can be very rewarding, both financially and mentally. Learning how to code definitely helped me become a clearer thinker. You know that feeling of brain fog? After a month of coding, I never had that feeling again. Everything is crisp, sharp, suddenly I see the world in ultra high def. It's a wonderful sensation. -

Altcademy is amazing! I've just completed the first two courses of the fullstack program and it was incredible. Their curriculum style is easy to learn and the assignments are very challenging. I always thought that coding would be too hard for me, but now I know I can do it as long as I put in the time. My mentor is helpful and knowledgable, feedbacks on my assignments are very useful and in depth. Highly recommend their programs. -

This program is quite different from other bootcamps as it spends a longer time on html and css. This is a big plus because you learn how to build user interfaces that are clean and good looking very quickly. Concepts covered in JavaScript, DOM, React, Ruby, and Rails are equally in depth. You finish with a strong understanding of MVC, and CRUD APIs, from building a handful of full-stack applications, plus dozens of frontend/backend projects. The curriculum structure is very smooth, instructions and explanations are written in simple english and easy to understand. If you ever need additional help, you can be in direct contact with a mentor through slack or zoom meetings. Last but not least, the price is very affordable as well. -

I work as a PM and my company was kind enough to sponsor this course. My primary reason for learning web dev is to have better understanding of the technical side of things. This benefits me greatly since I can now estimate project turnaround times much more realistically and communications with engineers improved. Besides, building fullstack web apps from scratch is really fun and challenging. If you work in web based tech companies and want better understanding of how things work, this course is highly recommended. -

I signed up for the fullstack program but decided to stop after completing all the frontend modules since I want to start looking for a job sooner. If you read the reviews, you would already know the curriculum is well written, the mentors are amazing, and the price is super affordable. It is all true. Before joining this program, I had been learning and doing some frontend development for my small online business. I can tell you from my personal experience that having a structured program and a mentor is 10x more efficient than learning on your own. If you want to learn web development, this is for you. -

My experience with Altcademy was amazing. I did a lot of research before signing up and consulted friends who are software engineers. We all came to the conclusion that Altcademy's fullstack program is the best amongst its peers. In terms of value for money, and in terms of curriculum comprehensiveness, no one could beat them. The program is very packed, thousand of hours of curriculum material, hundreds of exercises, and a couple dozen assignments. I came out with 6 decent looking projects and a final project which I am very proud of. The mentors are amazing people, very helpful and very knowledgable. This is something I would recommend to family and friends without a second thought. Don't take my word for it, do some research and you will see what I mean. -

A thoroughly enjoyable program. Assignments and projects are challenging yet rewarding. I finished with a portfolio of multiple small projects and one large advance custom project based on my own idea. I went through data structures and algo training at the end. They will help you with your cv and linkedin profile for job search. The support was just enough that you didn't feel like going at this alone. You can talk to other students through slack. You can ask and search questions on a Q&A platform. You can book live office hours with your mentor to get help. The offer is amazing for the price. -

I started the program in Mar 2020 after I lost my job working for an airline. Well I thought might as well take this chance to make a change. 11 months later, I am finishing up and applying to jobs. A few things I want to share regarding coding bootcamps and making a career switch.
1. It takes a lot of time to learn the fundamentals and feel confident enough to start applying to jobs. For me, it was 11 months, at 40-50 hours a week. I did take a month off in the middle where I was only doing around 10 hours a week.
2. Do your own due diligence, spend time to research different bootcamps. I chose Altcademy because they are online, and they are super cheap. I asked the bootcamps to send me their curriculum and I realized everyone pretty much teaches the same thing. So your decision is dependent on whether you think the bootcamp can deliver their promise.
3. Join a program with good mentors. I was lucky my mentor at Altcademy was also the person who wrote the course content. He knew everything.
4. Start looking at jobs early in the program and have a plan. If you live in an area with very little tech jobs, you need to think hard and long whether you are willing to move somewhere to get a job. You can also apply for remote jobs, but working alone at home isn't for everyone.
5. Have realistic expectations. There is no guarantee for anything. -

If you already have some knowledge of simple website building, you can finish the course in 6 months. The curriculum paints the whole picture of web development. All the details of frontend and backend development is covered. You build 20+ projects throughout the course. The mentors are very knowledgeable and patient. All your projects will be reviewed and given feedback. The quality is on par with other major bootcamps, but these guys are only charging a fraction of the price. It's a no brainer. -

Before joining this program, I had zero experience in programming. I knew I would need quite a bit of support from a professional so I chose the personalized package with live office hours. All in all, I was very happy with what I got. My mentor was always patient and had a knack for explaining complex concepts in plain english.
It took me nearly a year to finish the whole program. It was all worth it though since I managed to land an internship at a local startup which turned into a fulltime job. The salary is not super high but since the cost of the bootcamp is very low, I am happy with the outcome.
If you are thinking of signing up, you should know the curriculum is 100% text based, if you prefer videos, this is not for you. Also learning on your own without peers can be tough at times. You need to be mentally prepared. -

I really liked the program, it provides structure and flexibility at the same time. I was able to learn as much as I have time for. The curriculum teaches you all the finer details of web development, such as setting up your computer for local development which can be quite daunting for beginners.
When I needed help, I got great support from my mentor through slack and live office hours. This is very important as it kept me going when I got stuck in a rut a few times. I still can't believe they are able to offer so much at the price they are charging. -

Great place to start
The Coding 101 course is a great place to start learning about the basics of coding. They use easy to understand examples to explain common coding concepts. There are also hands on exercises that turn out to be challenging but fun. Anyone thinking of learning how to code should start with this course. -

Good as part of a larger syllabus
Read more Read less of Gabriel's review
I am using this program as part of my wider syllabus to learn web development. Altcademy's course is the only component that is paid. The rest of my syllabus consists of free materials and courses you can find online.
The reason I decided to include a paid program like Altcademy is because I want to have a dedicated mentor that can help me. Altcademy's mentor support provides this at a reasonable price.
The program itself is pretty good. The curriculum is well thought out and builds up logically. However as with most paid programs, it is not able to cover all the details. And that is why I am using other resources to drill down more.
If you have no experience with programming at all, this is a good program to get you started on the right foot. -

This is my 4th month into the full-stack program and I am currently at the end of the dynamic web development course which teaches you how to build interactive front-ends with HTML and JavaScript. I have to build a simple game to complete this course.
The program provides lots of handson experience through exercises and projects. I have built at least 10 websites by now. Some of them are following tutorials and some of them are built completely on my own according to assignment goals. I got detailed feedback on all my assignments for bugs and improvements. This is a really good learning experience and good for building up confidence. There is a mentor that you can contact for help and guidance, this is very useful and worth every penny.
I don't have much to complain about the program really. But one thing I would mention is that I found it hard to stay focused early on, since you are always learning on your own. It took me at least a good two weeks to find my rymthm. So if you are thinking of signing up, you need to make sure you can learn in solitude, and have a study plan. My advice is that you need to be able to dedicate fixed timeslots on 3 to 4 days a week for studying and build a habit. -

The reason I chose Altcademy is because they are cheap. Cheap compared to most bootcamps.
The main concern I had before I made a decision to enrol is whether I will be learning less things due to the price difference. After some research, I realised most web development bootcamp's syllabus are very similar, the frontend is almost always the same: HTML, CSS, JS, React/Angular/Vue. The backend is either Node or Rails. And they all have some CS data structure and algorithms. So there is not much difference in the topics that you will learn whether it's a 15k program or a 1k program.
As for the learning experience, I would say I am happy for what I paid for. The program is self paced, but they do give you a study schedule to help you plan. There isn't any hand holding, but there is definitely a lot of hands on experience with assignments and projects. There is a chatroom where you can discuss with other students. My mentors are experienced enough to answer most of my questions and they seem qualified based on their linkedin profile.
I think the most valuable thing this program offers is the mentorship support. Having a dedicated person who you can go to for help makes learning much easier. I can't really compare the experience with the more expensive bootcamps because I don't know what they are like. But if you are not able to shell out 10k or more, my guess is this could be a good alternative. -

The curriculum covers most fundamental concepts in frontend web development and is enough to get you prepared for some entry level roles. Especially if you have some experience with other roles in tech. If they could add some classes on automated testing, it would make the curriculum more complete. The content is mostly text based and easy to follow, with lots of exercises and walkthroughs. Mentors were very helpful and usually responded within the same day I asked them questions. I thoroughly enjoyed the program. -

Take Coding 101, don't miss out!
Fantastic starter course for anyone who is interested in learning about programming. The course is divided into 5 days and covers basic concepts such as what is coding, binary numbers, programming structures, how to solve complex problems, and actual coding exercises. I had a great time solving the maze exercise and will continue to take more free coding courses because of this.
