ZipCode Willmington Java FullStack 3 month BootCamp
ZipCode Wilmington has been the best experience for me since I was introduced to Java Full-Stack development in the past, but many pieces of the puzzle were missing, which were filled after completing ZipCode Wilmington BootCamp! The Collaboration with the students on my team, the teachers, and the trainers all shared the necessary knowledge to help you win! -

This is not a bootcamp where simply paying guarantees you a seat. Even the admission process felt like preparation for professional life. Since it’s a nonprofit, their focus is on student success rather than filling seats. They helped me land a professional job.
The curriculum gets more complex gradually. They help you build a strong foundation, and from there it becomes more self-driven learning with your cohort. Instructors remain available and regularly check in to support you.
Try to make most of "Professional Developments" classes.
It was a challenging but highly rewarding experience that prepared me both technically and professionally. -

This bootcamp has helped me believe in not only myself but in God more — I wouldn’t have made it through if I didn’t believe I could do it. Don’t let that scare you away let that push you! Zip Code Wilmington is not for the weak BUT it’s for those who genuinely want to change their lives, improve their current tech career, of simply switch career fields. The instructors and after hour tutors at ZCW are hands on but they give you space to learn on your own, so don’t expect to have your hand held 24/7. The professional development classes help improve your networking skills by doing challenges and actually talking to graduates who’ve been placed in jobs. You meet with management teams to ask questions and network. Sometimes you’ll take trips to different companies. But don’t forget this bootcamp prepares you for the working field, be on time, come dressed business casual on said days, and be prepared to CODE 24/7 until you graduate! 🎉 if available join the Zip Code Prep four week course to get a feel of what ZCW is like. Also, thank you ZCW for helping me land my first Software Engineering role — my now manager met me on ZC campus #Netwotk #ShowYourSkills! -

Amazing bootcamp!

This bootcamp not only equips you with solid technical skills but also emphasizes the importance of soft skills, from networking to resume building, the support provided goes beyond coding. One of the most valuable aspects of this bootcamp is the opportunity to meet people already working in the tech field, through lectures, networking events, even alumni connections. The bootcamp also provides extensive interview preparation, including mock interviews, behavioral training, and guidance on tackling technical challenges.
But beyond all the skills and opportunities, this bootcamp is a community. It's a network of peers, mentors, and alumni who genuinely want to see you succeed. The support doesn’t end when the program does, you leave not just with new skills, but with a lifelong connection to a group of people who inspire and motivate you. -

The instructors were pleasant, kind, but also very firm and tough (A healthy balance). You will learn what you need to be successful in the industry. I made life long friends here, we worked together, struggled together, learned together, and I never felt like I was alone in this journey. I had no prior experience in coding before this bootcamp, and I landed my dream position within 2 months after completing the program.
This program is tough, you must put in the work and the time. Follow through with what the instructors are teaching you, and trust them. If you follow the game plan, and trust the process, you will succeed. -

This bootcamp was a life changing experience all around. Showing up on day one was a terrifying and looking back I truly had no idea what I was in for. From day one I always felt behind in my coursework because there was always so much to do and learn and simply not enough time. This pressure forced me to be my best self and give everything I had for three months. Over the course of those months, I learned and became proficient at developing 3-tier web based applications, improved my professional persona and made life long friends. At Zip Code you are not a class of students but a cohort of colleagues/friends and everyone moves together as a group to develop their skills and tackle projects. I HIGHLY recommend this program to anyone who has a desire to better themselves by taking on a new career in technology. Not only does Zip Code Wilmington teach you how to code, they also put you in the same room as local industry professionals which gives students the perfect opportunity to stand out and possibly land a job. Overall, this program has changed my life in so many positive ways and provided me the tools and confidence I needed to excel my career. TAKE A CHANCE ON YOURSELF! -

Math Teacher to Software Engineer

Zip Code Wilmington was the best decision of my life, and I don't say that lightly. In some ways it seems like the people who work for ZCW or graduated from there are pedaling a fantasy: "Change your life in 12 weeks and gain new skills and a lucrative career." But that is exactly what happened for me, I had little coding experience prior to applying to ZCW and started with a limited understanding of Javascript. Graduating with a good base understanding of core Java, JavaScript, Spring, HTML + CSS, and a little React is amazing to me. I won't lie, I did struggle along the way and wish I could have attended in person but due to the current situation my classes were strictly online. As a former Math teacher I know first hand how difficult lesson planning and teaching virtually can be and my instructors never missed a beat. Although this program is extremely challenging (and more so if you like me had no coding background) it was worth it. I love being challenged, and being under pressure. I bonded with my cohort mates over late nights and complex problems. That was another great thing about the program, the collaboration and group projects. Working in groups can be difficult because of work ethics and communication styles but in the real world of software engineering, no one works in a silo. Getting the chance to experience this at ZCW definitely gave me a leg up when joining my team at my job. I understand agility and scrum, peer programing, and stories.
Aside from the programming aspect to ZCW, one thing they do exceptionally well is their professional development. The team that works with the students on this is superb. Weekly you will have the opportunity to connect with experts in the field and learn about exciting technologies, or hear amazing backstories that will inspire you to strive to do your best. They will work with you on your resume, interviewing skills, and other soft skills that will make you competitive and attractive in today's job market.
ZCW has many great resources including the instructors, and professional staff but one hidden gem is the alumni network. ZCW has graduated over 500 students in the last 7 or so years. That is a lot of people, most of whom are still in the Delaware area. This is amazing because not only are these zip coders working at all the big name corporations you are probably aiming to work at, they have the unique shared experience of being in this brutal, intensive yet rewarding program. I have met so many awesome alumni through different events and lectures and the advice they give is invaluable. When I joined my team at my new job I was delighted to learn that there was a zip coder on my team, she graduated about 2 years ago and welcomed me with open arms. The connections and job opportunities that the alumni can open up for you is a huge perk. I am so proud to be an alumni myself now and continue to return to ZCW to help the new class of cohorts.
The last thing that I want to touch on is diversity. While in ZCW I was so happy to see that diversity matters to them and not just because it is currently relevant but something that was ingrained from the start.
If you are considering applying, stop considering and just do it. Take that step. -

If you are willing to put in 3 months of hands-on and highly intense work, this is the program for you. As a husband, and a father of two children, I needed the best possible opportunity. Zip Code Wilmington provided that oppurtunity.
The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, easy to communicate with, and willing to help. The Professional Development and Career Coaching are just as valuable as the Sofware Engineering skills you will develop.
The only thing I would change about the curriculum:
- More end-to-end Data Pipeline projects.
- More hands-on labs/projects using AWS.
Again, if you are willing to put in the time and energy, Zip Code will do its hardest to give you a shot at landing a job in the tech field. They don't get you jobs. They prepare YOU to get a job.
I received and accepted a job offer on the last day of the program for more money than I've ever made in my life!
Advice for preparing (3-6 months before you start):
For both Java and Data Engineering:
- LeetCode (paid version): at least one problem a day.
- Get familiar with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Java Program:
- Invest in and complete a Java course prior to starting on a learning platform like Udemy. Here is one I'm currently taking: https://www.udemy.com/course/java-se-programming/.
- Get comfortable with JavaScript and Web Development concepts (Youtube, Google).
Data Engineering Program:
- Get comfortable with Python and SQL (Find courses on Udemy).
- Get a high-level understanding of Data Engineering concepts like Data Pipelines, Data Storage, EDA, and ETL (Youtube, Medium, Google). -

Prior to enrolling in Zip Code Wilmington, I was unsure about how successful I would be at transitioning into a career in tech. I have a background in neuroscience, research, psychology and education. I had been endlessly searching for a suitable job to which I could adapt all my skills. Zip Code not only provided a welcoming environment for me, as a student, but it also provided me with the professional knowledge and confidence to be able to market myself as a software developer while integrating all my past experience. The work is challenging, the first few weeks seem endless but consistent effort is a key asset, along with being willing to reach out to peers and staff for help. By the end of the program, I was offered multiple opportunities to interview with a number of reputable companies. It was a life-changing experience to say the least. Although 12 weeks is a short time to be able to build an elaborate full stack portfolio, it was enough to get my foot in the door and springboard into a career in technology. -

Zip Code was a great experience. It was tough- definitely a bootcamp with long hours, but the quality of students and staff is incredible. It is not only a high quality education, but there is genuine care shown by all. I felt like I wasn't learning anything (or enough) because it was difficult, but once interview week rolled around with Zip Code's business partners, I realized a lot of things had really clicked! You'll feel inundated with information, but stuff is sticking! One example of the fantastic technical prep is Spring Boot: we gained a great foundation in using this tool, which is a definite plus for an entry level coder. Something else that sets Zip Code apart is its focus on professional development. It's not just about crushing technical questions/white boarding, but it's also about knowing how to carry yourself, work on a team, and do well on the behavioral aspect of interviews. A great investment of money and 3 months of time. If you're ready to apply yourself for a big life change, this is where it's at! -

I was a teacher for 14 years and ready for a new challenge, but intimidated by making a drastic career change and unsure where to start. Zip Code alleviates so many of these issues. If you enjoy coding and are willing to give up 3+ months to work as hard as you ever have, then you will be rewarded with amazing opportunities.
Not only does Zip Code give you a solid foundation in Java and Object Oriented Programming, even more importantly it prepares you to get a job through mock interviews, resume work, and many corporate partners. If you are willing to work, do what they ask of you, take advantage of every opportunity provided to you to practice and learn, then you will have a new career.

I cannot express how thankful I am to ZCW's instructors and staff for helping me get where I have been trying to go for the past few years. Not only will they teach you the core Java and CS skills you need to succeed, they will put you in front of employers so that you have a chance to show what you know.
There is one catch. ZCW has a 90+% job placement average, but they do not guarantee placement. To be on the better chunk of that statistic, you have to be dedicated to spending 12+ hours each day to studying, coding, and working on your resume. If you don't study, you will not be able to impress a hiring manager with your ZCW-imparted knowledge. If you don't code, you will have no projects to talk about in your interviews and no practical experience to reinforce your study. If you don't work on your resume, you may not even get an interview.
If you want to go through ZCW, you have to be prepared to put in the work. You have to let your friends and family know up front that you will be busy turning your life around. And at the end, if you dedicate yourself to becoming a real software developer, you will come out the other side with the skills to succeed, and you will be in that 90+%.

Zip Code is an amazing bootcamp. The entire staff pride themselves in helping you grow not only in coding but also in networking, interviewing, and resume writing. Let me first say, that before you get into the program you are challenged. I was intrigued to apply a year before because an alumni recognized herself as a artist prior to joining Zip Code and that fit my narrative to a "T"! The entry work to get in was definitely challenging for me but every question I had for the staff was answered with a sense of urgnecy and importance it gave me so much confidence to push through the challenges!
When arriving to Zip Code you are constantly reminded about how hard you worked to get there (which is true but can be easily forgotten because of the material). There are instructors from all different levels of knowledge that stay late as well as Alumni that come in to make sure like them, you graduate and truly understand the information. The staff are also there for discussions about what may be challenging you to come up with action plans to help you move forward.
You also become a family with those in your cohort, and to me, it didn't seem like I was a number or a dollar sign to the staff or the instructors. They really wanted you to learn the content and when I got an offer they celebrated with me like I was family.
This program is not easy but you don't want easy, I hope that's why you are reading this. Easy won't get you the career you need. To sum up my experience: It puts a fire inside of you and shows mentally you can get through anything! The skills and relationships I've acquired are priceless and I'm so grateful I had the help of Zip Code to better my life.
Zuul.

Zip Code was the best and hardest experience of my life. The interview process and the program are both very challenging and intense but, if you are determined and motivated to succeed, Zip Code provides you with the opportunity that is needed to learn how to code proficiently and to find a career in software development. The best parts of Zip Code are the connections you make with cohort peers, staff, alumni, and professionals in the tech field and its curriculum not only helps you to be a great programmer but helps you become a better you. It truly is a special and unique bootcamp.
I did not have a background in coding (I came from the education field) but I was serious about making it into Zip Code, graduating, and finding a programming job. So, I took a year to save money and to study for the entrance exam. I would recommend a similar approach to any person serious about applying.

Zip Code Wilmington is much more than a crash course in software development. In addition to the technical knowledge and professional guidance that the staff strives to provide each and every student with (which redefined my expectations for bootcamps in general), students are also introduced to a network of developers, consisting of both alumni and professionals (and both, for that matter). The overall experience was incredibly challenging, as attendees are expected to go from presumably no experience in the industry to a professional level in three months. But the staff really helps to both instill confidence and reassure individuals throughout the process. I liked coding before I started, but by the end of the program it became a passion of mine. I owe a big part of that to this experience, and I hope to see this wonderful program gain traction. I now have a job doing what I love at a great company with awesome people. While I credit a good portion of that to hard work, it would not have been possible without Zip Code. If you're genuinely interested in software development and a career in the industry, I can't recommend this program enough.

Zip Code Wilmington has fully lived up to my expectations. Less than two weeks after my final day of class, I accepted a job offer as a full-time software developer at a great company.
The instruction was phenomenal. There's a lot that can be achieved through self-learning, but what's more difficult is knowing what to learn. Zip Code really came through in that regard, as they teach you all the specific skills and technologies that you need to be successful as a full-stack developer today.
Most impressive of all is the employment assistance aspect of the program. Before applying to Zip Code, I considered a few other bootcamps but ultimately chose against them because I got the impression that you were more or less on your own after graduating. I have a friend who attended one of them, and echoed this sentiment. This is not the case with Zip Code Wilmington. They have staff focused solely on building relationships with employers, helping you with your resume and soft skills, and ultimately getting you hired. They will continue working with you until you get a job. The support is amazing, and I would be surprised if there were another bootcamp out there that went nearly as far in this respect.
A bit of advice I would give to prospective students is to come in with as much coding experience as you can get from places like Codecademy. The more you know going in, the easier it will be.
As far as I can tell, Zip Code Wilmington offers the best cost/benefit ratio of any bootcamp out there, and if you have the opportunity to go, go.

Like the other students attending Zip Code Wilmington, I decided to make a change to my career. Once I realized that I was interested in coding and problem solving through software development, I chose Zip Code for a few reasons - its company sponsor support and the success of its alumni.
Say goodbye to your family and friends for three months. They are not kidding when they say that you will be doing 100 hour weeks here! The course is pretty rigorous and fast-paced and there is always some new challenging lab or assignment for you to do. The curriculum closely follows what companies are looking for you to do on the job. We spanned the full stack with the topics and labs we were given.
During the program, developers from various companies came in twice a week to present some topic or aspect of technology they were working on. It's amazing having the companies come to you to network. Some of these same speakers participate during interview week. The Zip Code Wilmington staff did an excellent job of lining up and bringing in the presenters.
The alumni are another great part of Zip Code Wilmington. They come by after work and on weekends to help get you through your projects. I saw alumni representing all the cohorts, not just the one before mine. There is a real sense of community at Zip Code.
After the course ended we had a week of intense technical interviews. Having the companies come to you for interviews is fantastic! In my opinion this reduces the risk of getting people interested in even looking at your resume after 3 months of coding.
Overall, the experience was intense and there was great camaraderie within the cohort as we all worked hard to get each other over the finish line. I would recommend Zip Code Wilmington to anyone who's willing to put in the time commitment and is looking to change their career and give themselves a chance of being seen and interviewed by companies in the area.

Zip Code Wilmington has given me a chance to do what I always have wanted to do in my life which is be a programmer. It has given me the tools that I need to accelerate my career and be able to make a difference in the programming community. Not only technology tools but also the professional skills as well. I remember coming into the program thinking how hard could this possibly be, I've coded before, I shouldn't have to sweat it. But, actually being immersed in the code and the different techniques I found it to be challenging but very enjoyable and up-to-date. Zip Code isn't for the faint of heart but if you get the chance to be apart of this amazing program, don't hesitate and take the leap.

After years of failed attempts at learning programming on my own I decided to go back to school for my second bachelors in computer science. As I prepared to enter a CS program, a friend of mine who has a CS degree told me about Zip Code Wilmington.
With tuition costs at a fraction of a bachelors degree, and an impecable reputation I decided to go for it. Applying to Zip Code Wilmington proved to be a total game changer for me. Zip Code Wilmington prepares its students to take on real-world challenges by refining students critical thinking skills, in-depth coverage of in-demand languages, strict enforcement of industry standards, as well as projects designed to challenge students while building their skillset. They also take job-placement seriously with plenty of networking events and opportunities, resume assistance, elevator pitch assistance, and mock interviews.
Not only does Zip Code Wilmington have an exceptional professorial staff, curriculum and employment opportunities for students, but they are also deeply involved in the tech-community. Zip Code students don't just join an educational institution, they merge into a culture and community of innovators determined to thrive and empower each other.

What an amazing program! Everything about this place is great, from the faculty to the administration to the facilities. I've learned so much in such a short time. From java & spring, to Angular and Ionic2, job placement / training, all the education I've received here has been top notch. The small cohort size allows us to really get to know the other students and learn from each other as well. As a non-profit, I really feel that Zip Code cares about me and my success, not just lining their pockets. You can tell the alumni feel the same, because many of them come back in their free time to help the current students with whatever they are working on, from assignments to personal projects. Many of the alumni are still working at the jobs they found out of the program, so the job placement is not just a temporary internship but a true start to your career.
If you are thinking of attending a coding bootcamp, there's no reason to go anywhere else.

When I started Zip Code I had high hopes for a promising career in Software Development. I was hoping for a bit terrible place to work, a better paycheck than anything I e ever had before, and a job that could tolerate going to each day. Well, I've been at my job for over half a year now, the company I work for is actually pretty great, I'm making more than I ever did or think I would, and everyday I arrive to my job and leave my job happy & satisfied. Even the really tough days are actually enjoyable. Not only do I do what I enjoy but I've met some of the greatest people through ZC, and I'm not talking about foreign dignitaries or senators, I'm talking about the people that went through Zip Code with me, the people that went before me, the new students coming in, and especially the staff.

Honestly one of the most challenging programs I have ever taken part of, and I am very greatful that I stuck with it. Apart from the many coding schools out there, Zipcode is a non-profit.. There objective is not to take your money and push you through, but to make sure that you have what it takes to make it through the program and obtain job placement. Let's be honest this is not the ideal means of learning for everyone. This three month bootcamp covers a lot of material in a small amount of time, and not everyone is capable of learning at that speed. Doesn't mean you can't become a great developer, just means this might not be the right learning enviroment for you. With that being said, the program offers a plethora of resources and assistance, and the knowledge and confidence you will obtain in such a short amount of time is beyond any monetary value. If this is something you are extremely passionate about...GO FOR IT!

As a student straight out of high school I knew what I wanted to do when it was time to start my career, so I did a year at college but it just wasn't enough! I felt as though I wasn't learning the things I needed and at the pace I wanted to. So I took it into my own hands and began looking for a better solution and I came across an ad for Zip code Wilmington through a friends facebook. It was a video explaining Zip code was this affordable, fast track, challenging boot camp(too good to be true I thought to myself) so I decided to reach out to my friend and he said it was true so I took it upon myself and applied and out of the 31 that got in out of 300 or so applicants I was accepted. I've learned so much over these past three months it's almost unbelievable. Zip code will give you that foundation to do whatever you want as a programmer so I highly recommend it myself as of completing it.

The Hardest Thing You'll Do

ZipCode Wilmington was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I have ever done. I remember all of the nights spent awake and bleary eyed staring at my own broken code, or pouring over some mystic text explaining what it was to write a program in Java. I recall quite a few moments of total despair and frustration, where I was sure I had made a grave mistake, or that I had somehow fooled everyone into thinking I could pull off the impossible and actually become a software developer. For all those moments, I also remember the amazing instructors, who were patient when I needed time, and commanding when I strayed off into a rabbit hole of messy functions and bad code. The moments when something would run successfully, despite the mess of code it took to make it, and the sudden urgency to improve and clean that code to make it better, and in turn, to improve myself so that next time it would take less time and would be brilliantly written from the start. With a curriculum shaped by the employers within the local community and some of the largest financial instituitions in the world, what you learn here is exactly the skillset to place yourself in a meaningful position doing software development. The challenge is not easy, and many times you'll doubt yourself, but I know that without a shred of doubt, ZipCode Wilmington was the hardest thing ive ever done, and I have cherished every moment of my time there. -

This school has changed my life and brought me from a minimum-wage retail associate to a professional software developer in twelve weeks. Twelve weeks of Zip Code gave me everything I needed to get a job that most people would say was only possible after four years of college.
I simply cannot say it enough. Zip Code Wilmington has been the greatest educational experience of my life. It has challenged my mind, pushed my limits, and built a confidence and trust in myself that never existed before. If you have any desire toward technology and the grit to match, do not hesitate to apply as soon as possible. You will never regret it.
