This program needs to be shut down

First of all I think UOFT should be ASHAMED of affiliating with Trilogy and offering this disgraceful program. There are several negative reviews online and not a single positive review so I'm not the only one that feels like I've been ripped off. All of the reviews are accurate the curriculum is terrible and rushed. There hasn't been a single class where we have actually completed all of the planned lessons. The instructors shouldn't even be refered to as instructors none of them have prior teaching experience or are qualified to teach. The staff at Trilogy pretend they care and want to help you but they don't. The worst part about the program is we were lied to about receiving a certficate, 10 weeks into the program they broke the news to us that we actually won't be receiving a certificate! I feel like this program should be shutdown and everyone should be reimbursed, what they are doing does not feel right at all they have deceived several students and pocketed over a million dollars in tuition and have not delivered what they promised. Please do not fall for this scam.

Hi Anonymous. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. As you noted, the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies has partnered with Trilogy Education Services (TES) to offer the UofT SCS Coding Boot Camp. TES is a leading continuing education program manager that has partnered with more than 25 top universities across North America to support their skills-based program efforts. UofT SCS Coding Boot Camp and our partners at TES are absolutely committed to the experience of our participants.

Our program prides itself on teaching individuals how to learn, providing a strong foundational skill set used to master additional programming languages following the course completion. We strive to communicate to participants that our full-stack program introduces course material at a macro-level, with additional time required outside of class to properly understand and master the topics; this helps individuals learn how to problem-solve and self-teach, key abilities needed in a developer’s career.

We work hard to select instructional staff who are passionate about helping learners succeed. Our program has an intensive vetting process, requiring a minimum of three years experience in the tech industry. We measure instructor success based on participant feedback, video audits, and classroom assessments. We understand the boot camp's pace can be difficult and strenuous, as such, in order to assist individuals who are struggling with the coursework, our instructors and TAs are always available for extra support, staying after class to provide assistance in any way they can, in addition to our free tutoring network. We hope you found these resources to be beneficial, but we are constantly looking to improve our services and appreciate your feedback.

As you noted, at the onset of our program, we determined learners who successfully completed the course would receive an Acknowledgment of Completion. After receiving input from several participants, we underwent a name change and ascertained we would instead be issuing a Certificate of Completion - also a formal signed and dated document which includes the learner's name, program, date, seal, and signature from the Dean of the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. We are actively looking to promote and commend our learner's accomplishments following the completion of such a rigorous course as this one and believe this Certificate of Completion, along with an official UofT SCS transcript, reinforces to employers that an individual has successfully finished the UofT SCS Coding Boot Camp. We do take participant feedback like yours most seriously and are continuously working to provide individuals with the service they need to be successful.

We would welcome the opportunity to provide you with any additional support you may need at this time and would love to hear from you directly. If you would like, please reach out to us at (647) 245-1020.

    Better Than I Expected

I was looking to change careers. I've been working as an assembler in manufacturing for about 20 years and wanted more flexibility. I was interested in marketing but lacked the skills to feel confident about pursuing it. At a friend's suggestion, I looked into boot camps and discovered the UofT SCS Digital Marketing Boot Camp. I was impressed by the curriculum, which offered every topic I could imagine related to a career in digital marketing, from social media, organic search, paid ads to CRMs and automation.

The instructor was fantastic, very knowledgeable, patient, and ensured everyone understood the topics. The topics were covered in-depth, there were many real-world examples, walkthroughs showing how different platforms and software worked, like WordPress, Google Analytics, Facebook and LinkedIn Ads, etc., and assignments to apply our knowledge. They showed us how to pull data and analyze campaign metrics to help determine performance. This program is intense with new modules almost every week, module assignments and two group projects. At the same time, it's amazing how much I've learned in such a short amount of time.

    Informative, worthy, fun

I took up the "Data Analytics and Visualization" bootcamp to upskill myself. I have some basic knowledge of what the field would look like and I was ready to put in the hours. The one thing which helped me a lot was the simplified outlay of the bootcamp. I knew which module would be targeted and learning concepts were provided beforehand for me to get a better grip on concepts. A huge shoutout to the bootcamp instructor Bharadwaj (Bharat) Janarthanan and TAs Divya and Sunil for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the course. This course is fast paced (as most concepts are covered withing a 6 month period but the groundwork laid by the coursework is excellent. I highly encourage individuals looking to break into Data Analytics to consider this. A huge thank you to U of T SCs for offering this opportunity to newcomers.

    Career Boost

I joined the Data Analytics Bootcamp with University of Toronto in August 2023. My reason to join was to upskill myself to join the industry back after a long career gap. Although the course was very fast-paced and rigorous it covered a wide variety of topics in a very organized manner. I loved the fact that there was help available 24X7 with resources like AskBCS, Tutor Sessions, office hours. This course gave me the confidence boost I needed to re-launch my career. The instructional team was amazing and always very patient. If you're looking to get the best educational experience but have limited time on hands, this should be your go-to path.

    Best Decision Ever

Embarking on the journey of the 12-week Full Stack coding bootcamp has undoubtedly been one of the most impactful decisions I've made in my life. From the moment I enrolled to the completion of the program, every step of the way was filled with invaluable learning experiences, challenges, and personal growth.

The structure and curriculum of the bootcamp were meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both front-end and back-end development. Week by week, we delved into a diverse range of topics, from HTML and CSS to JavaScript frameworks, databases, and server-side programming languages. Each module built upon the previous one, reinforcing concepts and allowing us to gradually expand our skills.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the bootcamp was the hands-on approach to learning. Rather than passively absorbing information through lectures, we were encouraged to actively engage with the material through coding exercises, projects, and real-world simulations. This practical, project-based learning style not only deepened our understanding but also equipped us with the practical skills and confidence needed to tackle real-world coding challenges.

The support and mentorship provided by the instructors and teaching assistants were instrumental in my success throughout the bootcamp. Their expertise, guidance, and unwavering encouragement created a supportive learning environment where I felt empowered to push my boundaries and strive for excellence. Whether it was troubleshooting a bug in my code or seeking advice on career prospects, they were always available to offer assistance and guidance.

The bonds formed during late-night coding sessions and shared victories over challenging assignments created a sense of belonging and solidarity that extended beyond the classroom. We celebrated each other's successes, supported one another through setbacks, and shared in the collective joy of overcoming obstacles. These shared experiences forged friendships that will undoubtedly endure long after the bootcamp has ended.

In conclusion, the 12-week Full Stack coding bootcamp was not just a journey of technical skill acquisition but also a transformative experience that shaped me both personally and professionally. It instilled in me a sense of resilience, determination, and community that will continue to guide me on my journey as a software developer. For anyone considering enrolling in a coding bootcamp, I cannot recommend it highly enough. It may just be the best decision you ever make.

    Extremely engaging and educational

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. The rich knowledge shared by the instructor, Mark and TAs, Bertram & Ravina was unparalleled. As a full time employee, I was very skeptical when I joined this course, and wasn't positive I'd be able to manage my time well, while I struggle learning new concepts. The whole experience, in the contrary was encouraging and absolutely helpful. The virtual classroom setup as conducive for a good knowledge share and communicative lessons.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity for successfully completing a valuable course!

    Life changing experience

I am hoping to make a career change and this was a stepping stone towards that change. It was a very intense endeavor and I gained both the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of cyber security. However, this knowledge and experience is not enough to sit for the Multiple Choice Questions format exam that is required to pass for the Security+ Examination.
I strongly believe that the course should incorporate the practical aspect of how to sit for this exam in the real world.

University Of Toronto Full Stack Development Bootcamp

Sharing here my great experience with University of Toronto SCS Full stack Coding Bootcamp online.
I worked in software test automation before I decided to take this bootcamp full stack development course.
My previous coding experience helped me to scale up and transition easily to understand the development course.
My favourite aspects of the UofT SCS Coding Boot Camp Online program are
     1. Well crafted the course design and modules are examples: The gradual introduction of concepts and the building of larger concepts upon smaller ones is an effective teaching method that allows for better comprehension and understanding.
     2. The weekly challenges also seem to have played a significant role in keeping you engaged and motivated throughout the course, as they provided opportunities to apply your knowledge and create your own projects.
     3. In class: The hands-on approach during class, where the tutor explains concepts and allows for immediate practical application, is undoubtedly beneficial for better understanding and the ability to clarify any doubts on the spot.
My advice to prospective students will be to have a passion for development, embracing challenges, and dedicating extra study time outside of class hours are crucial for making the most of the course. My own experience of completing numerous projects in different topics speaks to the effectiveness of this approach. The bootcamp instilled great confidence to take up development work later.

UofT: Cybersecurity Bootcamp - Changing career is now easy

Switching careers is often portrayed as an exciting and limitless opportunity, but the reality of putting it into action can be much more challenging. My personal journey into the field of Cybersecurity began with a mix of thrill and apprehension. I made the decision to transition from Financial Crimes Intelligence to Cybersecurity simply because I felt it was time for a new and different challenge. And what better way to embark on this new chapter than by joining one of the most reputable universities?

Like many others, I diligently researched and read reviews before enrolling, and I can confidently say that I have never been prouder of my decision. The enrollment process itself was remarkably smooth, and from the moment I spoke to the admission officer until graduation in August , 2023, my journey has been and will be celebrated and nurtured with unwavering support, valuable insights, and an incredibly conducive learning environment.

What truly amazed me was the sense of camaraderie among the students who were all on a similar path of career change. I never felt alone or isolated in this pursuit. We have a brilliant instructor with extensive industry experience, supportive Teaching Assistants, a dedicated Student Learning Success Manager, and weekly tutoring sessions. All these resources combined to create an atmosphere that made studying and progressing through the program remarkably comfortable.

To anyone who may be contemplating a career change and seeking certainty, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take the leap. It is undoubtedly a tough decision, but choosing UofT's Bootcamps will likely become one of your best decisions. While I personally vouch for the Cybersecurity program, there are numerous other options available that can significantly enhance your career prospects and knowledge as an alumnus of the University of Toronto.

In-depth, intense but SO WORTH it

From the application to the graduation process, I want to say that everyone in the back-end of this journey helped so much make this an amazing experience. I have registered for the UofT Data Analytics Bootcamp - the course was well laid out with Excel and VBA being the first step into the topic. Every week is a new topic, and looking back, 3/4 of the module I was going through the online material in advance before attending lectures. As simple as this was, it really helped me understand the course material and take my time with assignments and homework.
An advice I would give to new students would be not to slack - trust me on that. If you miss a week or a day lecture, it will be hard to catch up (but not impossible!) and the ripple effect is severe. Make sure that before you apply, that you are conscious of the time commitment for the next 6 months, it is intense but the reward and what you learn through this course is so helpful - I keep saying, it's like school but you can apply everything you do readily in the workplace, and side projects you may have going on.
The professor/instructor and the supporting TAs were amazing and always helpful and hands-on on the slack channel if you're running into issues with the material. There was also a great resource called AskBCS which is a 24/7 support that you can ask questions regarding the course material or if you're stuck on assignments. With e-learning, I think the course is fully rounded and well structured to provide the students with what they need.
And the best part also, you get to work with other amazing peeps for your capstone project at the end. Sharing of knowledge, making friends and who knows, a potential contact that can help our for a future opportunity!

The best investment I've ever made

I just completed the full stack coding Bootcamp focusing on MERN stack. I can absolutely say this has been the best investment I have made in a long time. Keeping in mind I have completed two Bachelor's degrees prior to enrolling and obtaining this certification, I truly found my passion for coding even more through being surrounded by such incredibly talented, and like-minded individuals. My experience was very interactive and engaging. We had a wonderful student success manager, Kyla Dhanraj, who always ensured student feedback is taken into account and that they have a voice in their boot camp experience. Our instructor, Sal Hobbi is an incredibly talented engineer. He made this short time we had an incredible experience full of enlightening moments. He ensured we truly gained the experience we need by treating like like junior engineers and ensuring we knew the fundamental technical concepts, collaborating with teams, version control, and most importantly, how to become better learners. Our teaching assistants, Brian Samuels, Mark Alfano, and Stephen Fudge each had their own strength and worked so well with each other, they truly understood what we needed in our Bootcamp since they've gone through this experience and know how to tackle issues we faced as a cohort. Lastly, how could I forget the incredible tutoring I received weekly to help me succeed thanks to my incredibly talented, and patient tutor, Scott Everett. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and can not wait to grow from this. Would recommend this life-altering experience to all the passionate folks out there.

    Worth every penny!

I am currently enrolled in this program, and I've already secured a career in the industry! I feel the knowledge I've been learning through this bootcamp has given me credibility which in turn helped me get a full-time career as a Creative Director at a Social Media Marketing company, before even graduating! I am so happy I decided to take a leap of faith and make the investment in my future. The classes are very engaging, especially when we get to do group work. The instructor, TA's and tutors have also been a great help and are the reason I am holding onto a 100% average at the moment. Thank you!

    Well structured learning experience

Having weekly tutor sessions was essential for someone like me with no prior coding experience. A lot if things I learned were so foreign, I really benefitted from having someone beside me at least for the beggining of each module to assure me of my direction. When I ran into syntax issues there was a 24/7 support service to handle syntax errors. These support workers were also incredibly helpful. I got so much out of the experience it was so worth it.

    UX UI Design Bootcamp

Before enrolling in this program, I had just graduated from my Nutrition program and was working in healthcare. I quickly learned that it wasn't something I was truly passionate about, so I started to look for ways to transition into UX Design. What drew me in was the creativity and flexibility offered in this field. Ultimately, I came across UofT's UX Design BootCamp and enrolled!

My favorite aspect of the BootCamp was attending office hours for extra support on my design work. I loved getting feedback on my work and learning new ways to design. For me, building those connections was the highlight of this program.

My advice to prospective students is: "what you take out of this Bootcamp depends on what you put in. It's a blend of hard work, consistency, and luck!" Overall, this boot camp gave me the opportunity to meet and learn from UX designers, the foundation of UX Design, and sharpen my design skills even further.

    Coding/Full Stack Development Bootcamp

The overall quality of this Bootcamp is excellent as it delivers what it is supposed to. The best part about it is the quality of most TAs is very high and they are eager to help us when we encounter difficulties. Some areas for improvement in terms of the pace of the topics should be modified as the amount of time needed for learning CSS should not be the same as learning React.
