I was a student in the Software Development bootcamp. During that time I learned the foundations of Python, JavaScript, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS, Django, .NET, and version control. Personally, I liked that so much was covered because now that I am job searching I see many languages and frameworks that I at least have a basic understanding of. The Tech Academy was self paced which was new for me but I am very happy with how it turned out. I was able to progress well and also take time off if I needed. There were a string of days where I got the flu and needed rest, and I was able to do that and not fall behind. The instructors are very help both before and during the live projects. The live projects were later in the bootcamp and were a great hands on experience that I will be able to talk about in interviews and build upon.
Pros:
Compared to many bootcamps, TTA was cost effective.
Self paced curriculum allows you to take time off if needed.
Friendly and helpful instructors/staff.
Cons:
I was a student in Eastern Standard Time and they are based in Portland, Oregon. However, this was rarely an issue. I only had 4 or 5 instances where I got stuck first thing in the morning over a 5 month period.

Live project, you get 2 depending on the course you take and they are real world coding experiences where you work with the instructors and other students.
The curriculum can be strenuous however it gets the job done right and teaches you what you need to know, sometimes through text pages and other times with videos giving you a look at what you need to do -

I can't say enough good things about The Tech Academy. I learned so much in such a short period of time. I loved the format of the material, they covered everything from the ground up and even though I had some existing knowledge about computers and web design, I learned fundamentals that I think are skipped over in other bootcamps. I loved that it was self-paced and I could go slower or faster depending on the topic if I needed to or my personal schedule. The instructors are awesome! So kind and caring and helpful and very available. Anytime I needed help I was able to get a quick response which I know isn't the case with other bootcamps. I finished early and they let me study other topics with my extra time. They really care about students and helping you succeed and you can feel it. The job placement director is amazing as well. I really felt that the whole team is on board to helping you get a job. I was referred through the bootcamp to a company and got hired at my dream job the day after graduating! I know this isn't the case for everyone and it may take the average person more time to find a job (which is totally normal) but obviously I am beyond grateful to the Tech Academy. My company has hired other Tech Academy grads so I know they have a good reputation too. I've always been passionate about new technology, language programs and how websites were built and maintained but I never knew how to go about getting involved. I researched several coding boot camps, tried to self study by utilizing free code camps and a bunch of other third party coding sites but I truly did not know how to get started in the right direction. After reviewing hundreds of reviews on The Tech Academy, talking to a recruiter in person and taking a test on whether or not the tech field was for me, I chose the The Tech Academy. This is place is amazing! Granted, I am brand new to the tech industry and everything was and is still challenging to me, they help walk you through every course and explain why the programming languages do what they do. They have intermittent quizzes and tests during and after every course you take. They are available to talk to on the phone and e-mail everyday of the week. They truly, truly care about your success and will go the extra mile to make sure you can accomplish your goal on learning software development. I honestly still don't know everything there is to know, the world of tech is ever-changing, but I'm confident I know enough to get my foot through the door as an entry level developer. This program will test you and push you the brink of "I can't do this!" but trust me, if someone who doesn't know anything about the tech world such as myself can graduate and feel confident in my abilities as a programmer, then I know you can too! You certainly have to dedicated your time after work for about 4-6 hours if you work full time, and your weekends for the next 9 months will be full of studying (I took the part time full-Stack software development course) so I was constantly busy all the time. If I can do it, anyone can. I was new to programming and didn't know anything until I started at the Tech Academy. I would unanimously recommend it for anyone wanting to change careers and get into programming! Their job placement team at the end of the course wants you to succeed and get a hired! I had a great boot camp experience with The Tech Academy. I did my coursework online from home and this allowed my life to be much more flexible. However, that flexibility also made it difficult at times to have the motivation to complete the coursework. Other than my own motivation issues, the boot camp has a lot of good content to learn from. The curriculum had a lot of small projects to work on and had great explanations of topics. The only downside to the curriculum is the beginning part of the boot camp, as that can be a slog to get through if you already have some knowledge to draw from. The live projects were my favorite part and are fun, but challenging projects. The instructors are great, they respond to messages/questions very quickly and they also keep in contact frequently to check your progress. The structured layout of the overall course was great. In the beginning, they start you off really basic and keep things simple. This is great for people like me who don't really know anything about computers. It was the way they had you progress that made everything connect in the end. It was well put together and I am very happy in my choice picking this bootcamp.
Definite Pros:
- Great amount of help and they're always willing. I called several times a day sometimes and they were always willing to help.
- Tough but a good curriculum with a lot of information. Their tutorials lay some solid groundwork in your development

I highly recommend utilizing The Tech Academy. They go above & beyond providing information & ensuring you are equipped with the necessary skills to enter the field of your choosing. The curriculum is easily digestible, but it is a lot and you get what you put into it. I was switching professions from teaching to UX/UI design & I feel confident in doing so after taking their courses. I took a big leap in deciding to change careers and took a good amount of time in deciding which boot camp I wanted to take but I'm glad I chose The Tech Academy! The fact that it is self-paced was perfect as I decided to keep working part time while taking the full-time course. While always being encouraging and educational, they also help to set you up with realistic expectations and tips on how to actually succeed in the tech industry. It was a busy and sometimes stressful four months, but I learned so many valuable skills and had the support of some really great instructors along the way. I enrolled in the UIUX Designer Boot Camp. The boot camp was self-paced and this was really good for me because I am a night owl. I really liked how I could work on the lesson at night when I am awake and receive feedback when the instructors are in the next day. Their operating hours are long and they all the way to 9 pm for me. This was great for when I would get stuck earlier on and needed to call in to get assistance. Their online presence is really good. They respond quickly and usually less than 24 hours for me on a weekday. They're really understanding and patient. Sometimes I'd call in and ask for help looking for a bug and they would help out. There are a lot of people on their team, so I always get a response quickly. I really like how they have a lot of methods for communication; it's not strictly just calling or just emailing them. Some instructors respond by text or discord which is nice. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with the instructors.
The boot camp itself was very informative and there were a lot of resources and links to optional studies. They really cover from the ground up, from computer basics to beginning-level coding in multiple languages. It's not everything but enough to get started. In the UIUX Boot Camp, they were mostly outside resources for design principles and tutorials for photoshop and adobe XD. The live project they had for the boot camp was mostly design-based and it utilizes everything you learned in the boot camp. Overall, I learned a lot and it was enjoyable in the end. -

My time at the Tech Academy was great and it made me into a developer. I love how they start the journey from the ground up, teaching the fundamentals of how computers and the internet work at the base level, laying a good foundation for learning to code. Going through the curriculum, I got hands on experience in different programming languages where I created cool programs, and learned many new things. The instructors, job placement, and everyone at the Tech Academy are very helpful, motivated, and are interested in getting you the most out of your experience. The Live Project was my favorite part, as it resembles an actual work environment, and gives you the confidence you need to know you can do this at a professional level. The job placement course might be the most valuable course in that it gets you ready to get that first tech job, which some say is the hardest part. The Tech Academy breaks getting a job in tech down to a science, and provides you with the best information, everything from writing your resume, and building your online presence to reaching out and applying, to mock interviews and coding challenges. And the Tech Academy does not just let go of you once you're done. At the end of your boot camp, you keep in touch with the school until and after you find a job. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to get started in a technology career. -

I must admit, when I decided to change careers into software development I was skeptical of the bootcamp structure and it’s promises to teach you so much technology in a short amount of time. However, I can verify that the Tech Academy delivers on all of it’s promises. The courses were very in depth, and while I did not learn every single piece of technology available I was given something much more valuable: the ability to think like a software developer. The course is challenging and pushes you out of your comfort zone, fully preparing you for a real world experience in the industry.
The staff does a great job at being available, responsive, and providing great feedback. They work hard to make sure that you have the tools you need to succeed. I enjoyed the projects included in the bootcamp, and the live project experience is very challenging as well as just fun. Gaining experience in a real development environment was a fantastic experience, and gave me the confidence I needed to begin the search for employment.
Upon completion of the bootcamp, you are not just left to your own devices to wander aimlessly and find employment. The job placement course provides you with a ton of resources, and the job placement staff is truly in your corner. They stay in contact regularly to provide feedback on your resume, send leads, help me polish your skills, and truly work to prepare you for success. I had a great time working through my boot camp and would definitely recommend this school to anyone interested in learning software development!

My 15 week UX/UI Design boot camp was intense and exciting. After losing both my jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic, I decided to make a change in career directions. This course taught be the fundamentals of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. When it came to design, the course teaches you the fundamentals of photoshop and Adobe XD. Be prepared to put in a lot of hours in even if you’re ahead in the program.

I did a lot of research on boot camps before joining the Tech Academy. It was well worth the effort because I actually got more in-depth learning than I expected. This place starts you off with solid fundamentals in Computer concepts and evolution. Which really helps you understand what really goes on behind the code you write. They do an excellent job of making you understand the myriad of terms and acronyms that are part of the Software Engineering world. The Tech Academy is a great boot camp for people wanting to get into the tech field. It teaches you all you need and more, as well as gives you real, hands-on experience of what it's like to work a tech job. The staff are phenomenal, and their job placement team works hard to ensure that you get a job. I can't say enough praise about this place. The only concern is that if you are not a person who is very self-motivated and able to stick to a schedule, this boot camp may be hard for you. This program was fantastic! I learned so much from The Tech Academy and they start from the very basics, so even if you don't know computers well you can still learn programming. The projects throughout the program were fun and challenging. My favorite part of the program was the Live Projects. They were fun and engaging. They made you use the skills you learned throughout the program without telling you exactly what to code. The Job Placement course is so important. I have so many good things to say about The Tech Academy. From the beginning I felt valued; the staff stayed connected and really invested time into my future.
The bootcamp setup is such that all the materials are online, ready for you to access. Concepts are repeated in a variety of ways: readings, videos, assignments, etc. It worked really well for me because I studied in and around my kids' nap schedules and wife's school schedule. The instructors are like tutors that you have instant and unlimited access to. You check in with program directors each week to make sure you are doing well and have everything you need.
In terms of content, the material is a good balance of simplicity and thoroughness. I came from a non-technical background, so that was really positive.
The Software Developer program is amazing. It prepares you to be a full stack developer, but focuses on the back end, which was perfect for me. If you don't know what you want to do, do this one, but they have a boot camp for almost anything now, and they are all great.
I got a job after doing this program as a Software Engineer, so I'd have to say that it works!
In short:
- Knowledgeable staff
- They treat you really well
- Simple yet thorough curriculum

I'm a recent graduate from the Tech academy's UI/UX designer bootcamp and I would like to say how great of an experience it was learning with the staff and students and getting hands on experience on some fun projects. I came into my bootcamp with little experience coding but was passionate about learning more about computers and utilizing my creative talent so I took the UI/UX Designer course which gave me a solid understanding of front end coding technologies and allowed me utilize the adobe suite and learn user experience design. I did all my learning remotely and in between my work schedule and The Tech Academy's LMS system was great to work and the instructor's were very helpful and happy to help. I loved how Eric the founder explained computers and coding in a way you could catch on easily and retain the concepts. After finishing my course I felt a lot more confident in programming and found a lot of opportunities arise for me in the field of technology. This was a 6 month intensive covering what you need to know to get your foot in the door. It was worth every second!
For someone who spends a lot of time on the computer, I figured the 40 hours/week for 6 months wouldn't be an issue, which overall it wasn't. But the last month or two is when I was really feeling it, and its nothing to scoff at. You will get a lot of information given to you one after another, so be ready to work and study hard!

As the Software Developer Boot camp description states, this is a program that will teach you a little about a lot. It was perfect for me as I wasn't quite sure what languages/frameworks I wanted to pursue initially. It covered many areas giving me the skills to land an entry-level position.
The Python Live Project was a ton of fun. You get to work on a development team using Azure DevOps and Agile/Scrum. This is great for giving you an idea of what it will be like working on a real team once you have completed your boot camp. The instructors are great, but you have to be comfortable asking for help when you need it. Instead of giving you the answers outright, they will help you work through the problems so that you can ultimately solve them on your own.
The Job Placement team is probably the greatest resource from this school. Forest holds a Weekly Roundtable where you can practice your soft skills as well as technical skills in a group setting. This is a great place to start especially if you are nervous about the interview process. Once you make it to the Jop Placement course, the team will review your resume and cover letters. Then you can set up as many mock interviews as you need to practice your soft and technical skills one-on-one. USE THIS TO YOUR FULL ADVANTAGE!

- Knowledgeable and Relatable Instructors: Many have been through the boot camp themselves and know what you are going through.
Cons:
- Not for you if you want to deep-dive a specific language
- ZERO Test-Driven Development
- Not enough hands-on C# in the C# Live Project
- Online Curriculum only has pre-recorded lectures
- Online Curriculum has some out of date videos (Caused some confusion during some follow-along assignments)
- Front-End (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) consists of too many follow-along and copy the code assignments. I find this a hard way to retain concepts.

Hi Raven, thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough and thoughtful review. It sounds like you got a lot out of your bootcamp, especially in regards to job placement. We know you put in a lot of time and hard work, and it's great to see what you have been able to accomplish, well done!
In regards to not taking a deep-dive into certain languages, our goal is to create a well-rounded junior developer who has the skills to exceed in the industry and continue to teach themselves new technologies. With our bootcamp being self-paced and from the bottom-up, we do ensure the program covers the fundamentals and is structured in such a way that students can student whenever and wherever works best for them. You bring up some great additional topics to cover, and if we weren't limited in the amount of time for each bootcamp, we would certainly cover all of them. We have, however, updated our curriculum substantially and I believe any out-dated material you came across has now been upgraded. After doing extensive research of all the boot camp possibilities, I finally decided on The Tech Academy. It was an absolutely amazing decision. The courses are very thorough and easy to follow. They include 2 live projects to build your resume and portfolio, and it mimics a real-life scenario of working on a development team. At the end of the entire program, you complete a job placement course in which you are given tips and tricks for building your resume, cover letters, and assistance with technical interviews. I took TTA C# and .NET Framework boot camp. initially I had planned on taking it in person since I lived close to the Portland campus but COVID intervened and ended up taking the boot camp online. I had absolutely zero knowledge or prior experience in coding so I was pretty nervous going into the boot camp and concerned about my ability to retain what I was learning since I am really, a hands on type learner. The way the courses were set up, and with guidance and support from the instructors, I soon realized I had very little to worry about. The instructors had an abundance of patience and were able to find ways to explain tings in ways I could understand when I felt like I had hit a brick wall. I attended TTA C# and .NET bootcamp in 2019. I was a total newbie to coding, looking to shift industries away from entertainment and into something with more stability. The education from TTA was great, very ground-up, introducing me first to overall concepts such as how to think about web development, and how to think about and tackle problems when I encounter them, which are skills and tactics that I use in my job today. Throughout the bootcamp, I learned fundamentals of every language, so when I completed the program and realized I didn't want to focus on C# for my career, I had the foundation necessary to shift directions and move into React development without much extra education, now that I had the foundation to learn from self-guided free courses. The job placement team continued to work with me and provide guidance as I tried to decide exactly which career path to pursue, and Forest was great at making recommendation for job search tactics to target the types of companies I was looking to work for. My only complaint is that I wish I could've more easily shifted directions in the middle of the bootcamp, but I didn't ask to do that, so I'm not sure what options would have been available to me if I had.Nate Skiles of The Tech Academy
