SJSU Tech Bootcamps

Excellent session. As i was with No Coding background, following certain bits in the training was difficult. Gurdeep helped me by going slow and repeating those bits multiple times with many examples. 

i dont know much to write, but i would recommend others to go thru this course if they get enrolled under Gurdeep. I would defintely go onto a class session with Gurdeep on any other course that is offered by him.

I was a student at SJSU Bootcamps for Full Stack, Front-End and Back-End Web Development training (2021-2022).  Pros: 

1. Excellent student supports: 
   • Each class is provided with a team of Instructional Staff including an Instructor, an Instructional Assistant, a Mentor, a Student Success Manager, and a Career Coach.
   • The Department Director (during my time here was Parish Jefferson) and his team constantly kept an eye on how satisfying the students had felt towards their Instructors, Instructional Assistants, and/or the Mentors. Once they found an instructor whose teaching didn't meet the students' satisfaction, the replacement took place even when it was still in the middle of the course. Experiencing an incident that occurred and how they immediately knew and quickly took an action on it, I realized that his team is well managed, organized, and works tightly together.
   • When any student fell a bit behind just on a single project, the Student Success Manager reached out to the student right away to make sure additional help arrived as soon as possible, such as a higher priority in mentoring for this student, or to understand more about his/her personal issues (during my time here were Akemi Okamoto and Meredith Riordan). They get each student's learning status updated by communicating weekly with the Instructional Staff. These ladies are friendly to work with and sweet at helping. 
2. Quality teaching program: 
   • The projects help guide excellently in transiting from one subject to another, concentrate on the main cores of problems in the real world, and are wrapped up within just a few months.
   • During my time here in 2021-2022, I found each of the Instructional Staffs having their own strengths, creating a beautiful Instructional team working together. 
   • I like: 
     • Preston Wallace for his care and his generous and valuable demo codes guiding the students to know how to overcome the difficult projects
     • Ryan Puzon for his clear and deep explanations technically beyond the concepts, and his willingness to stay after classes to help the students 
     • Jean Leconte for his wonderful patience in step by step detailedly guiding the students who are struggling with the materials

3. Post program:  - The Career Coach (mine was Laura McClernon) actively keeps track of the students' job hunting status, provides one-on-one mock interviews to prepare the students for landing a job, helps with finding the connections to the Entry Level positions for the New Grads, etc. for months after graduation. Every time I see her new emails on my Inbox, I get a positive energy feeling like another friend is closely helping me to find a job.
Cons: - The program requires the students and the instructors to work closely together. As such, all instructors, mentors, and students need to be on-time. If anyone is late or an absence is needed, it is required to inform the team. For the students, he/she needs to let the instructional team know ahead of time. I usually struggle with being on-time. I had to text messages to them quite often regarding this issue. Read less

I had an amazing time with this course. Saraf as a professor and the IA's D'Andre and Gavin were really great to work with and really knew the topics at hand. I never had any formal coding experience, but I did understand technology pretty well and that helped me a lot during the course. I definitely recommend taking this course if you want to get into the world of cybersecurity as a career. Read less

Super Intensive Learning and Guidance from Gurdeep. He had delivered the intensive course content at nominal speed for the entire team. His method of lecture kept me more attentive for the entire 4 hours duration and I do make it 100% of his classes. He able clarify the query and repeated when asked as such he is more patient. Hope this learning will get me to greater height !
