San Diego State University Digital Skills Bootcamps by ThriveDX

Going into this bootcamp, I had loved computers my whole life but never had any technical training in them. This course was a great way to get a brief introduction with a ton of different topics. It honestly feels a bit overwhelming with so much information coming at you so fast, but take really good notes and ask a lot of questions and you will extract the full value of this course. I still have notes and course materials that I can look back on and try again for review and that feels very valuable in itself. The instructors I had were all extremely friendly, outgoing, and willing to answer any questions; they might be worth the course just by themselves.

The course was jam packed with plenty of details from a very wide range of cybersecurity topics. Great for people who have little to no experience with cybersecurity and people with moderate understanding of the subject can benefit as well. If you take advantage of the course materials, instructors help, and commit to learning, you will be relatively qualified to take a chance at some of CompTIA's lower level exams (Security+, Network+, A+).

I really enjoyed my experience with the bootcamp. I believe it provided valuable skills and a good focus on fundementals. I do however feel like it wasn’t voiced loud enough from the program (although it was said from various instructors) that to be successful in finding a job post-bootcamp requires a good amount of outside learning and practice. My career coach was great in helping guide me and get me on a good plan for job hunting, but I feel like I would have liked to see more on the program side for helping with career success in terms of greater connections with hiring partners. Overall, great experience and it helps consolidate learning in a very digestible format. 

The teachers in this program were exceptional, providing unwavering support throughout both the ups and downs of the coursework. Beyond the classroom, they also offered valuable guidance on launching a career in cybersecurity. Their dedication to their students' education and career success was truly commendable. This program not only equipped me with essential cybersecurity knowledge but also empowered me with the confidence and skills to embark on a successful career in the field. I highly recommend this program to anyone aspiring to enter the world of cybersecurity.

 Course felt rushed. everything you can learn online for free condensed  in a organized course of $15k plus interest in 9 months. Also help you prepared for the CompTIA certificate but you still have to pay for that separately.  Some Classroom lessons need updating since they were working with older version of software and not the current one. 1st half of the course is basically the essentials like Windows, Mac OS, Linux then jump into the less common stuff like Microsoft server, AD, SCCM, and knowing internet protocols and CISCO. Then of course a light touch of hacking and its topics. 

I completed the Data Science & Analytics Bootcamp, by SDSU and ThriveDX. It is a great Bootcamp that taught me various programming languages which helps me prepare for a new career. The instructors were very professional and helpful, taking their time to help when a student is struggling. The Career Services are very helpful and can assist in reviewing your resume and practice for interviews one on one. You have access to these services up to 6 months after graduation. Overall I had a great experience.

The overall experience was very gratifying for me. I had my struggles like many students, yet the instructors were tops in the field and were a great help to get me and my cohort through all the different classes designed to help us land a job within the Cybersecurity field. There are many aspects to Cybersecurity, and this bootcamp touched on all cylinders to make sure we knew what was ahead of us in this journey. Thank you to all the people that influenced me to succeed with the program. Keep up the good work!

Enrolling into this cybersecurity course was one of the greatest choices I've made in my life. The instructors are passionate and knowledgeable, the curriculum is extensive, and I've gained confidence in protecting digital assets through practical exercises. This course teaches threat intelligence and encryption techniques, equipping students with the necessary skills to guard against cyber threats. Additionally, the collaborative projects and supportive learning environment have cultivated a strong community of future cybersecurity experts. Careers team guided me in preparing & revamping my resume tailored to Cybersecurity Jobs. Prepare to embark on a journey of growth, challenge, and endless opportunities to make a positive impact in the world of cybersecurity. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in this rapidly evolving field.

Had a terrific time during the course, learned a lot that will help me in my career going forward. It is a bit pricey for the program but very worth it. By far my favorite was the Ethical Hacking course as it teaches one what to be aware of while performing on the job or even in your everyday life. Met some great people in the class and had many different sources to go to when I was struggling. The instructors really go out of their way to help when they can. 

I was a student assigned to SDSU cohort 08. The best decision I have made for my career in a very long time. I wanted to level up my skill and general knowledge in the Cyber Security domain. The objective was to gain enough new skills and knowledge to assist me in passing some of the important industry certifications. My hope was to obtain a Security +, Linux+, Network+ and Ethical Hacking. Each of the certifications would help my gain more opportunities in education. When I began I was employed as an educator for a number of local community college. I was hoping to find my way into Cyber Security specific education and training. As of today I have attained the majority of the certifications I desired and continue to work on others. I would not have been able to realize my ultimate employment dreams without this EXCELLENT BOOTCAMP.

The main thing that attracted me to this program is the introductory course, it allowed me to see if cyber security was right for me, turns out it was. After completing the online boot camp, I continued my training by completing multiple entry-level certifications, and I now work as an associate cyber security instructor. I would highly recommend this program for anyone that wants to get hands-on current industry training.

Personally speaking, this course was a complete waste of time and money. $15,000.00 Stolen by SDSU and HackerU/ThriveDX. 

Instructors were not properly prepared to teach the course, and in some cases were not even familiar with the curriculum for the course they were teaching. In one course one of the instructors made what I consider sexist and even derogatory ethnic remarks. Another instructor appeared to be falling asleep during the Zoom class. 

The marketing material for this program. Is very misleading. The course is full of useless outdated material. Once you are in the program the rules regarding refunds are very strict and not in the students favor. This is a warning to be very aware of what your are getting into. Take your time to vet the program thoroughly. Make sure this program is for you. This is a very basic beginners course with a lot of outdated information. 

Taking Google, Microsoft, Canva and Hubspot certification courses at your own pace could be a better use of your time and provide more up to date information. In many cases these courses and the certifications are free. 

I would absolutely suggest to anyone that asks me about this course. Do your due diligence. Research other courses/options and think twice before giving HackerU or ThriveDX any of your money. I would not recommend this course to anyone.

If you are already a marketing professional, this bootcamp is not for you. This is a general overview of the topics that are taught without a full deep dive in. Especially for SEM. There are no ways to practice hands on tutorials so you can not practice these “taught skills.” 

Some of these courses are only a day or 2 class meet ups long?! Not enough time to learn anything. Or over 75 hours long and you can not practice ANYTHING! Save your money and invest in an actual masters degree or take the free courses in HubSpot, LinkedIn and google. The certifications stated that you earn in the course are from those three outside sources to do outside of class time. 

I thought the introductory course was wonderful, the instructor and course material were at the perfect pace and I learned a lot.  Unfortunately the "extended" course which is the full 8 month bootcamp went downhill from here.  Some of the instructors were hit or miss, but mostly miss.  We did about 12 different modules and only in about 2 modules did the instructors even look at the homework.  

I did really like the layout of each course on zoom where you do some slides, do an activity, do a code along and then some more slides.  Some concepts were harder than others but I think there needed to be more practice.  As mentioned, some instructors were more passionate than others.  Most of the time I felt like they were running out the clock.  

I expected more from the program for the substantial price of $16,000.  I am not super confident that I will be able to get a start as a developer unless I do a lot more work on my portfolio.

I would recommend this course to almost anyone serious about learning the cybersecurity industry. This is a great place to make connections in the industry. The instructors will lead you to jobs and certs. You can start the course with zero knowledge, they will teach you the basics, no stupid questions. They teach you the lingo. I thought I knew computers but learned so much I did not know. It's interesting material, and I feel privileged to have learned this information. If you already have connections in the industry, or already know basics, it may not be worth the cost.
