8 Coding Bootcamps for Women

Women have historically been left out of tech careers and education – only 21% of undergraduate computer science degrees were awarded to women in 2019. But bootcamps are different – women make up 36% of coding bootcamp alumni, and while the industry hasn't quite achieved gender parity, the percentage of women improves year over year (41% in 2020!) and continues to outpace the percentage of women in traditional computer science degree programs. At these eight all-women bootcamps, 100% of bootcamp alumnae are women!

The coding bootcamp space is certainly not slowing down for summer – in July we read about so many new initiatives happening in the edtech space! Schools raised over $5 million and a bootcamp loan provider raised a $9.8 million Series A round, and several companies like Twitter and huge New York banks are partnering with coding bootcamps to train students. We break down a new income share agreement bill in the Senate, relay tips for determining if an online course is a ‘scam’ and tell you about a handful of new scholarships and apprenticeships. Plus, we’ll share tons of new bootcamps and expansions into new campuses (and we’ll tell you about the one school that closed in July).
Liz had fun interviewing Rachel Bussert, Epicodus’ Director of Student Services who has been coordinating the internship program at Epicodus for over four years. Is your 2022 New Year’s resolution to break into tech? You already know that a coding bootcamp can help you get there – 79% of bootcamp grads get jobs in tech and the average alum sees a 56% salary lift. The first step is to apply, so we’ve compiled a list of 22 full-time, part-time, in-person and online coding bootcamps all offering upcoming bootcamps in early 2022.
Most in-person bootcamps are still delivering their programs online, and some schools are now offering a hybrid learning environment. Before applying for any in-person program, first check with the school to determine if and when students are allowed on campus.
