Devslopes

I have done a coding boot camp, watched many coding tutorials, and used many different platforms to learn to code, and I can say that Devslopes has certainly been the strongest and most sensible. I initially hesitated, even telling the sales rep, "I have no intention of signing up," but that quickly changed. It is incredibly flexible and based on your needs. Their personal growth and mental health set Devslopes apart from all platforms. While I have not attended an empowerment call in a while because I have a personal therapist, these calls are a chance to make yourself vulnerable while holding yourself accountable to get your work done. As someone who is presently a public school teacher, I can say that the mindset coaching has helped me shift my attitude about my current job and has helped me start to enjoy it again. This leads me to talk about the instructors and how they go to great lengths to help you out. You can send them messages (and if they are available), and they will answer. I have been able to make myself vulnerable to one of the instructors about my struggles with ADHD, and they have been immensely supportive and mindful of that because they struggled with it as well.

There are many different projects for you to complete along the way, but one that will really push you to your limits is the SaaS landing page project. It's focus is mainly HTML and CSS, but you can add some JavaScript. I have used the layout from this project for my personal portfolio. I have also used my skills to build a website for a family business and a website for a friend to gain experience and put this item on my portfolio and Upwork. And while I have not landed any freelance work outside of my circle of friends and family, I do remain hopeful that that day is coming soon!

Bootcamps only work if you have literally nothing else going on in your life and only rush the process of learning code in depth. The mentors push you to dig deeper, and the student community is immensely supportive. And while you absolutely COULD make money while learning how to code, all of it is up to you. That is the challenge but also the beauty of Devslopes.

     I'm currently a student at Devslopes and I'm not yet at the halfway point in the curriculum. The reason that I came to Devslopes is that I started in the computer field 45 years ago but the one area I haven’t learned yet is web design so, here I am.     Having done pretty much everything else that you can do in the computer field you probably realize that I’ve been to a number of schools and/or boot camps over the years. I would definitely rate Devslopes as the best school I’ve ever attended. From the CEO himself, down to the instructors, mentors and everyone else that I've come in contact with, in my opinion, they all pretty much have one thing in common (I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually a job requirement). They all truly care about me learning and succeeding. This is quite evident in the training / mentorship that they offer beyond the coding, their tone of voice when they speak to you, as well as their methodology in the way that they answer our questions.

I joined Devslopes after attending another boot camp and realizing that I definitely needed a bit more schooling to achieve my goals. Since joining, I feel like the gaps in knowledge that I had are slowly being filled in and things are starting to make much more sense to me. I don’t regret attending the first boot camp, I just feel like a lot of knowledge was thrown at me and I had no clue how to fit the puzzle pieces together. This program is self-paced letting me move at my own speed and I can ask questions to the instructors and other students when I feel stuck. This is a double-edged sword because on one hand I can really marinate in the material until I feel like I have a good understanding of it, but on the other hand this line of thinking does keep pushing back my self-proclaimed done by date! Which is steadily approaching!! 

There have been times when I got super stressed thinking maybe coding was just one of those things that I wasn’t meant to do. Like you know, when Mike Wazowski found out he couldn’t be a scarer and realized his talents were better served elsewhere. Other aspects of life piled on, the no job, my physical and mental health nose diving, certain people being… people. I’m really grateful that a few mentors reached out to me, these were different times mind you, and they let me rant out my frustrations a bit. It really helped just having someone to talk to at the time. Mr. Jon has this way of helping you go over code and then you realize that you knew way more than you thought you did. Lol, again me thinking I just might not be cut out for this. Then I started answering questions for other students and seeing that I really did have it down, lol that got me even more hyped. Then speaking with Ms. Shawn and actually talking out things that I was stressed about and realizing that I have to focus on me and what I can do and let everything else just kinda be what it is. I really don’t think they have to go that far when they speak with us, but I hope they know how important it was for me at that time to have their input and guidance and to continue to have it while in this program. In Mr. Andrei’s classes as well, I can ask questions and he explains it in a way that I’m better able to comprehend and then he asks more of those exploratory questions to make sure I understood what we just did. Which is really good when you are someone who thinks they got it, but turns into the sim who walks into a room and forgot what they were there to do. All this to say, big props to the Instructors/Mentors.

I have gotten to work on some pretty cool projects/assignments over this course. One project has us making a battleship console game using our terminal and that really helped me see how much work goes into the smallest bits of what we will hopefully be working on in the future. There is also a project that teaches us how to fetch data from apis and I had an absolute blast making a Pokemon “Quote” Generator. I thought the concept I chose was incredibly funny for a good while. I still laugh about it. We even have assignments making articles for Medium so we can really flesh out if we’ve learned a concept and show it to others. That’s a pretty cool way to get our names out there as well. I’m a little over halfway done with the curriculum so I’m excited to see what other cool stuff is in store. Keep an eye on my Medium articles, no way I’ll not brag about what I’ve learned.

At this point, I’ve been here for about a year and a few months. I have not done any freelance work just yet. I’m still in the “making sure I got it” mindset. I have attended a few of the freelance lectures and they are very informative on how to get the work. Again, I want to make sure I can do the work before I start hopping into projects and getting clients to choose me. I in no way want to spread myself too thin again thinking I can take on everything and everyone. 

If you’ve read this far, you were at least a little bit interested in what I had to say about the program. This is not a bad place to learn and the community is epic, plenty of rubber ducks to go around! 

 Devslopes has significantly impacted my life by instigating notable transformations since my enrollment. Throughout the two-year duration of my course completion, I have observed several positive alterations facilitated by the institution's commitment to continuous improvement. These enhancements have included the recruitment of new mentors, advancements in course materials, and various other refinements aimed at enhancing the learning experience.



The guidance and support provided by our mentors have been instrumental in shaping my coding journey. Their expertise has not only assisted me in refining my code but has also facilitated the acquisition of industry best practices. I have come to anticipate and value the thorough code reviews and insightful feedback provided during our meetings, which occur regularly throughout the week. These interactions have been pivotal in my growth as a coder.


Among the projects I have undertaken, my capstone project stands out as the most challenging and rewarding endeavor. It presented an opportunity to showcase my ability to adapt and learn new technologies—a crucial skill in the dynamic landscape of the tech industry. Opting for Vue.js, Tailwind CSS, and Supabase, none of which were covered in the Devslopes curriculum, allowed me to demonstrate my proficiency in independent learning and problem-solving.


Thanks to the mentorship and skills acquired through Devslopes, I have successfully secured numerous freelance opportunities. The guidance provided by mentors has not only bolstered my technical capabilities but has also played a pivotal role in landing these projects. 

Ever since I joined Devslopes the way I see and use technology in my day to day life has changed as I am continually learning to create and improve software that I make myself. The Devslopes Community has many members who currently have software developer roles and they are happy to  provide valuable insight into the best technologies and practices to  help you create the software you are trying to build either for yourself or for business clients.The mentors are where the value of being in Devslopes really becomes noticeable. Communicating technical needs,  limitations and recommendations to my business clients as well as executing those needs is very difficult since I don’t have many years of experience in the field. So not only do the mentors help me pass my Devslopes assignments, they also mentor me on how I can create the technologies that will help my clients meet their business needs. I started off making simple apps for myself like video music galleries and games, but where I learned the most was my first professional business client. That is due to the fact that the business requirements of the app exceeded the scope of what I had learned at Devslopes so far,  but thanks to the mentors and experienced members of the Devslopes community I was able to not only meet the clients requirements but far exceed it.Thanks to the help of the Devslopes mentors and community I made $2000 working on that project part time. Not only that, he also recommended me to his client and I am in negotiations to build him something as well. It won’t take long to make a return on the Investment I made into Devslopes and I am not even finished yet!

I joined Devslopes in  2022 looking to make a career transition as a software engineer. The goal was to get a job where I can work remotely while making a decent income. Their freelance program sold me on the idea that you can "earn while you learn" and was the determining factor on why i chose them. I'm not a natural salesman so when I started freelancing my communication skills werent where they needed to be to attract clients and land projects. However after following the guidance within the program for a few months I became more fluent when I pitched my skills and eventually landed a few paid gigs. The mentors in the program were able to help me with my specific challenges and hangups and gave me personalized advice and suggestions when I felt stuck and needed a boost. The most important thing Devslopes taught me ironically enough wasnt Javascript or backend development  because I'm pretty sure I'll need to upskill as the next new technology comes along. Deveslopes helped me most by nurturing a problem solving mindset, the idea that you have to choose "the right tool for the job" and the ability to verbally communicate my ideas effectively. For example when I landed my first freelance project I thought i had bitten off more than I can chew. However after bringing my project (custom website buildout) to one of the meetings I learned about a library and other extremely valuable resources  that was pivotal in helping me complete the project and giving the client 5 star service.
Fast forward a few months later and I've made thousands freelancing, recently switched to doing it fulltime and have plans to start my own agency in the near future. You do have to be accountable when you join and put in effort to learn on a consistent basis but once you get that down thats another life skill you have that you can take with you regardless of the industry that you work in.

I 1st heard about this company on TikTok and decide to reach out on their Web page to schedule a meeting with one of the representatives that works there. So the day of the call the representative I was talking to 
Rushed me off the phone. Before he  Rushed me off the phone,I believe he stated that he would give me a call back but he never did. Ever since then I have rescheduled the call Because they refuse to call me. I have had to reschedule the call 2 Times and still no one is calling me.I'm not sure what kind of business this is but it's disappointing to know that someone is reaching out to further their career or at least make a change in their career and People are not following up on me when I reschedule a call..

The entire course is a sham($9,900 before financing). Outdated course material, over zealous promises in what you make while taking the course(freelancing), freelancing phase is a complete joke with minimal guidance, consultants will say almost anything to sale you,  terrible course completion rate, and minimal students getting jobs

The CEO that had no hand in building the course content(because he can’t even code) tries to lead mentoring calls in an industry he’s never worked in. The CSO that was responsible for scaling the company has stepped down from his role because the CEO is burning the company to the ground. Meaning the company is burning internally




The company is just being used to build the CEO self brand and not nurture and grow future developers. Don’t be fooled and invest $10k+ on a course/company that is just some kids wallet to become a social media guru.

Learning how to build professional websites was always a dream of mine since high school. Life's challenges temporarily diverted me from this path. However, in 2022, I decided to make a significant change, and enrolling in this school was the turning point. I acquired skills in full-stack development and secured freelance opportunities. Collaborating on professional projects with fellow students simulated a real team environment, fostering strong relationships with mentors and the community, for which I am immensely grateful.

This is simply a money grab.... They will tell you that you have a 10 day cancellation period when your signing the contract. Thats even IN the contract.. But they ghost you for your first 10 days when trying to talk to any employee to cancel!! (the coding mentors will just tell you that not my job, talk to someone else ) 

So then on your 11th day you'll get hit with a response saying "Sorry, your past your cancelation period !!"   

If you even MENTION this being illegal or unethical, they KICK YOU OUT of the program, AND YOU STILL NEED TO PAY BACK THE LOAN.

So now you don't get ANY thing you were sold on , AND your still stuck paying over 12K for something you'll never get access too :( 

Be carefull of the sales staff!!! They are really smooth talkers, and will say ANYTHING to convince you that this is a great opportunity for you.
