Code Academy Berlin
Code Academy Berlin offers six, in-person bootcamps of varying lengths in both Web Development and Data Science tracks. Bootcamps are held on campus in the Rummelsburg neighborhood overlooking the Spree river. The bootcamps are designed with an agile modular structure that echoes the agile project management work environments students will later encounter in the workplace.
In the 12-week Front-End Developer bootcamp, students will learn all the necessary tools to create a website and progressive web applications, including HTML, CSS, Vue, JavaScript, React, Firebase, Git, and GitHub. In the 16-week Full-Stack Developer bootcamp, students will learn everything from the Front-End Developer bootcamp, plus the M.E.R.N stack, which includes MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js. In the 20-week Specialization Model bootcamp, students will learn everything from the Front-End and Full-Stack developer bootcamps as well as GraphQL. Specialization Model students will take part in a collaborative project, and can choose one of two technology paths to focus on: Gatsby, a front-end framework, or TypeScript, a JavaScript language for front and back end applications. Specialization Model students will also receive interview preparation and will work with their mentors on code challenges that will assist with technical job interviews.
The 12-week Data Analyst bootcamp curriculum covers Python, SQL, Flask, Matplotlib, Platly, Prophet, Docker, and Kubernetes. Data Analyst students will learn how to work with time series data and implement a forecast model with ARIMA and SARIMA along with new technologies, such as Facebook Prophet. Data Analyst students will learn web scraping with e-commerce giants to get insights into real-world marketing KPIs and use cases. In the 16-week Bi Analyst bootcamp, students will learn everything from the Data Analyst bootcamp, plus big data cloud technologies, such as Tableau/Google Studio, Apache Spark, BigQuery, Google Cloud, and SparkML with Python. In the 20-week Data Engineer bootcamp, students will learn everything from the Data Analyst and Bi Analyst bootcamps plus deep machine learning, including Tensorflow. Data Engineer students learn how computers see and process information by working with real-world images in different shapes and sizes and transforming them before feeding this data to algorithms. Data Engineer students learn to process text, including tokenizing and representing sentences as vectors, so that they can be input to a neural network. Data Engineer students will learn to apply RNNs, GRUs, and LSTMs in TensorFlow.
All Code Academy Berlin bootcamps incorporate career services. Bootcamp students will work with a career advisor who has a background as a professional recruiter and job coach. Bootcamp students also have access to individual coaching sessions and workshops.

I remember my first day at CAB well. There had been a bit of disorientation in my life (my company didn’t survive Covid), and to be honest, I wasn't even sure if coding was for me. But the day started and while I was getting to know everyone, it was exciting too see that Lucas and Jost and back then Ottavia were exactly how I had pictured them from the short info on their company website: a bunch of friends putting their heads together to make a company of their own, a place of learning ...I remember my first day at CAB well. But the day started and while I was getting to know everyone, it was exciting too see that Lucas and Jost and back then Ottavia were exactly how I had pictured them from the short info on their company website: a bunch of friends putting their heads together to make a company of their own, a place of learning and challenging oneself, but also a place of fun and connection.
As for the content: the technologies taught were exactly as specified in the course curriculum. Remarkably, almost everything covered by the course proved to be relevant afterwards in my first job.
Regarding the learning environment, I want to highlight two conditions provided by CAB that, in my regard, impacted my progress the most (I went from zero to Junior developer level):
1. On-site learning with max. 5 students per mentor
To me as a beginner, nothing was more challenging than training myself to not get frustrated with the very frequent errors breaking my code. Being able to talk to my mentor once a day to keep the struggle positive and get help solving the problem was a real game changer for me.
2. Fabulous mentoring
As a mentor, Lucas did an excellent job, notably when explaining any problem regardless its complexity with precise and short rhetoric. I was looking for this review when choosing a bootcamp
I just graduated from the Data Science bootcamp and couldn't be happier with the experience. Went from having no clue about coding or data to - not only being pretty comfortable around it- but actually loving it. It wasn't easy, took a lot of hard work, but I truly enjoyed going to school and my time there. The whole staff is really dedicated and supportive, from the mentors to the management.
The career week was super insightful and honest (yes, the job market is tough right now...I just graduated from the Data Science bootcamp and couldn't be happier with the experience. Went from having no clue about coding or data to - not only being pretty comfortable around it- but actually loving it. It wasn't easy, took a lot of hard work, but I truly enjoyed going to school and my time there. The whole staff is really dedicated and supportive, from the mentors to the management.
The career week was super insightful and honest (yes, the job market is tough right now, but now we have some tools to stand out). During my time there I saw two people finding jobs before they finished their studies. There's also career support for alumni, and is not rare to see them coming back to school when they are applying for jobs or getting ready for interviews. Regularly there were postings of open positions plus different opportunities like internships, hackathons, workshops, etc. As an extra we were given an A.I course by Google for free.
When I was deciding on which bootcamp to choose from, what made me decide for Code Academy, and I think it's what sets it apart from the rest, is that:
- It's on site: it made a huge difference to be surrounded by people that is going through the same thing, have straight access to the mentors, see what other cohorts are presenting, have a little chitchat at lunchtime and share ideas.
- The cohorts are small (no more than 5 people per course usually): this is no minor detail. The whole course is structured in projects, and we have to make a presentation for each one. There's no way that you can have a proper presentation for each project if there are 20 people in your class.This is something that cannot be replaced if you are just studying by yourself, and I think it was probably one of the most enriching aspects: In each presentation I saw how me and my classmates got better at it, had deeper insights and truly learned from each other.
-They were the one of the only ones that were not claiming this "99.99% of our graduates find jobs in the first month" thing (watch out for those, see where they are getting those numbers!)
That being said, and referencing one aspect that people tend to complain in bootcamps, most mentors are ex alumni. In no way this is a bad thing: mentors are not teachers (and they were never presented like that) . Their role is to support, to guide, to give you some tools, and they were excellent at this. This is not a university study, this is hands on practical experience from the day 1 to get you job ready in a comparatively short amount of time. The most important thing that you will learn is to "learn how to learn". You need to be able to find your own solutions, cause that's how it works outside the classroom. This is really hard work, but there are no magical shortcuts. The school is just the environment that facilitates this, and Code Academy Berlin excelled at it.

Best coding bootcamp in Berlin
I highly recommend the Code Academy Berlin. We created around seven major projects, all the way from designing to publishing Front-end and Full-stack websites/web apps. I’ve heard that at other coding bootcamps students are only tasked with changing some lines of code in a template. So I found it advantageous to join Code Academy Berlin’s coding bootcamp, where I built all my projects from scratch, so I'm able to explain every line of code in my projects during technical interviews. I gained a lot of skills and confidence through creating such full-scale projects.
We had a career week as well as one-on-one sessions with the career coach. That was very effective, and it helped me write a good CV and modify my LinkedIn profile to land a job in tech.Overall, I had only great experiences with Code Academy Berlin, and I landed a job within a month after I started applying for jobs!
