It's quite hard to put into words how grateful I feel for BrainStation! When I first started looking into bootcamps I was a little bit sceptical about the concept of becoming a "Software Developer" in just 12 weeks. 

However, after having finished the bootcamp just now I am more than just blown away. Everything felt super professional from the first calls with the learning advisor, to the interview process, curriculum, and teachers. Massive appreciation go out to Andrew, and Jon who have been our instructors for the past 12 weeks and Jigar (our teaching assistant) who has always helped us with other coding related issues.

It's astonishing to see how well the instructors were able to break down complex topics to make them more digestable. To give you an example, during one of our group projects (group of four), Jon even offered to help us out on the weekend in case we get stuck. I think this just shows how much passion and motivation the instructors at BrainStation have.

I'm more than confident now that I have acquired all the skills to land a job as a junior software developer. Thank You again BrainStation for making all of this possible!! Read less

This Bootcamp was intense and pushed me in many ways, but it taught me so much and made me create things I had no idea I could do. My educators and peers were there as support throughout this journey which was so helpful. I have learnt so much about the industry and have met many amazing and talented people. Genuinely grateful for this entire experience and recommend this Bootcamp to anyone eager to learn a lot in a short amount of time in order to improve themselves and be successful in a new career path.  Read less

At first I was skeptical because there would be a lot of information and lessons taught within a very small timeframe. But I came to realize once I started my first week that the educators were all very nice and approachable.
The lessons are broken down in a way that is easy to follow with very minor bumps (like learning Javascript for the first time). The bootcamp is very hands-on with the projects and each project is broken into sprints each week that corresponds to the specific lessons within that week.
The educators were all great and professional. They always took the time to make sure you know what you should know. They empathize with you and your position in your career transformation. They are very knowledgeable and sometimes take time away from school time just to help out with a problem.
I was first worried about some of my classmates being way too advanced in terms of knowledge, but turns out most of them are just starting a new career change with you. They are all supportive and always take time to help anyone in need.
If you're skeptical about educators and your potential cohorts, don't be because majority are very supportive. Everyone just wants everyone to succeed, whether it be your educators or fellow classmates. And who knows, you might be able to make a few friends out of it! Read less

Great instructors, very human approach, extremely challenging at times, but definitely worth your time! Some projects seem impossible to produce in such a short time, but the educators really have our backs. One of the biggest takeaways from the bootcamp is definitely that programming is a TEAM SPORT, which was very eye-opening for me. Read less

The BrainStation Python Course is the biggest grift on the internet.  The instructors were good but the syllabus was empty.  It was not worth the amount charged for it.  I felt they just took advantage of my lack of knowledge about what Python entails to sell a very substandard product.  They also claimed that there would be a complete collaborative Python Data project.  Spoiler alert:  That did not exist. Before starting here I was familiar with html, css and JavaScript. I had also built a few express apps as well as some android apps with Java. I thought I would learn some new libraries and tools but it was so much more than that. I grew tremendously as a developer. I left with confidence that I know what I was doing and a bunch of experience working collaboratively that I would have never got otherwise. I truly think it’s worth attending if you’re looking to make the jump into web development.  Read less

Aadil Khan was a great instructor. He helped me understand the theoretical part of UX design in a manner that was easy to comprehend given I had little experience in UX. He was engaging and paced himself very well according to the needs of the students (from what I was able to tell). The breakout sessions were great and I loved that we got the opportunity to work on a project that allowed us to apply all the design principles. Read less

My journey at the BrainStation Vancouver downtown campus:

Changing careers and enrolling at the BrainStation Vancouver downtown campus was the best decision of my life. I have gained tremendous knowledge and skill in just three months. Getting the first position as a web developer in the industry is challenging. But today, I have a diploma, a good network of fellow students and people in the industry, good skills, and confidence and motivation to boost.

My educators, fellow students, and staff were fantastic. I felt supported throughout the program, and the educators were always helpful and knowledgeable. 

Enrolling in a Bootcamp is an important decision; it is a substantial investment for most. I never considered a Bootcamp an alternative to self-learning. It was never an either-or decision. Instead, the BrainStation Bootcamp was an accelerant on my journey as a web developer. The goal is to gain the skills, knowledge, and qualities to get our first position in the industry. The question is: how will I get there? And when? 

If you choose to enroll at a Bootcamp, I strongly recommend BrainStation. The gorgeous campus, the heartwarming interactions, the team collaboration, the events with industry partners, and the projects -- lots of projects -- are all reasons I am suggesting BrainStation. 

Lastly, before enrolling at a Bootcamp, I strongly suggest you consider learning the foundations of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. It will help you make the most of your experience. And besides, as the ability to learn new concepts could well be the top quality of a programmer, it is never too early to begin. Good luck!

This was a great way to learn more about UX design. Really good for a designer who is looking to upskill. Great community set up both in campus and on LinkedIn. I enjoyed my time here, the course was everything it promised and I got what I exactly came for which is have experienced hands walk me through the whys of ux, behind the UI. 
The course material does need updating though as some of the class instructors have sometimes had different views to the contents and offered much recent illustrations on many occasions.

I contemplated going through a UX Bootcamp for an entire year before I actually took the plunge. The thought of quitting my job, immersing myself back into an intensive learning environment, and making a career change was daunting. After all, what if it didn't work out and I had wasted all the time, money, and effort doing it for nothing? But everything that BrainStation gave me paid off in the end as I am now successfully working as a full-time UX Designer for a great company. 

The course is intense and fast-paced, but the education team is all fantastic, kind, motivating, and there for you every step of the way. You are exposed to each part of the UX Process and by the end of the BootCamp, you will have a deep understanding of how to apply that process in the real world to help solve real business problems. Through design sprints, group collaborations, hackathons, case study projects, and individual workshops and lectures, students are taught and challenged to bring research into insights that help guide the UI design process in programs like Figma. BrainStation surrounds you with smart and creative individuals to help you learn with and from the best in the industry. While it's a lot of work and you will work long hours during the Bootcamp, it was still a lot of fun as I am still friends with several people from my Cohort, and I walked away a smarter and more confident individual.

After graduation, Annette and the career success team helped me so much in feeling prepared and making sure I was presenting my best self to employers. I was nervous about the hiring process since I had never really needed to go through it before. But every time I spoke to Annette, she gave me such fantastic career and interview advice and put my mind at ease. She was always looking out for me and trying to make connections to the BrainStation network on my behalf. While those relationships didn’t end up working out for me personally, they helped me grow confidence with each and every conversation I had, so I couldn't have gotten to where I was without them or without the career team's help.

My experience was as good as it could have been in a short 12-week program. You'll work hard but go into it with the right mindset of determination and you'll have an entire portfolio of great work to show for it and to take with you into the interview process. I have always been passionate about data, and recently decided to take a step forward into the world of data analytics. I was looking for a course that would be complex but also done in a timely manner, to understand better if data analytics would be something I would like to do moving forward. BrainStation's course was brilliant to give me a taste of the complex world of data analytics in just 10 weeks, by having concentrated lessons of Excel, SQL and Tableau, and challenging me to practically put the knowledge in the final project. It is a course I would recommend to anyone looking to enter the world of analytics.  Read less
