This bootcamp was meant to be a short introduction to UI design. For someone like me who had no prior experience with designing, I found it extremely helpful. There are short lessons, easy to follow tutorials, and projects that really test your skills. Within each lesson, there are tons of additional resources given. The mentorship program was something that I picked this course for specifically. You get eight lessons to go over work, ask questions, get advice, and whatever else you nee...This bootcamp was meant to be a short introduction to UI design. For someone like me who had no prior experience with designing, I found it extremely helpful. There are short lessons, easy to follow tutorials, and projects that really test your skills. Within each lesson, there are tons of additional resources given. The mentorship program was something that I picked this course for specifically. You get eight lessons to go over work, ask questions, get advice, and whatever else you need. It's a very well thought out and organized program. Great Program
The curriculum was awesome, but a lot of the experience depends on your mentor. If they are engaged, you'll learn tons from them. If they are unresponsive or you don't click, you might be a bit underwhelmed.
The learning material was very thorough and had good emphasis on UI and visual design. The projects were also very good practice, and enjoyable to complete.

I joined DesignLab as a student referral. The student went through this course and was able to get a new career path in Product Design. I took a leap of faith and applied to the UX Academy Foundations to give it a try. I have no professional background in UX UI Design so this foundation coursed helped a lot. You are set up with a mentor for 1-no-1 meetings and get personal advice from people who are leaders and senior in their field. I was able to work based on my pace and got through it...I joined DesignLab as a student referral. The student went through this course and was able to get a new career path in Product Design. DesignLab had a lot of recourses that I couldn't keep up with using and there were so many students you can network with. Review for Designlab Experience
My experience with Designlab overall was enjoyable. I loved the fact that the course were online and being able to have these one-on-one sessions with a mentor was a great way for me to able to communicate my progress without having distractions. My mentor was wonderful and patient, even when I was sick for a week, he was understanding about my situation. I had previous experience with graphic designing, but studying in UXA Foundations helped renewed my old skills as well as learn new...My experience with Designlab overall was enjoyable. UX Foundations
This is a really rigorous course for those like me who had little-to-no previous design experience. I enjoyed the challenge and worked much harder than I expected.
My mentor was excellent. She always responded within 24 hours, and often within 12 hours. She really pushed me to improve.
My only knock on the course would be the lessons surrounding Figma's Auto Layout and Components. I think they could do a better job teaching the concepts in smaller chunks.

Great course for building foundational design knowledge
As someone with design experience from school, a lot of the curriculum seemed familiar and was a really good way to keep me engaged. The mentor played a big part in my experience with the course. I was able to enhance my design skills, learn about some great resources and start thinking about the next steps in my career.

Great Foundation program

Exceeded my expectations
I had heard good things about the course and although I was expecting good content, I really did not know what to expect in terms of the online modality, it is true that the platform impressed me. A great way to kickstart your transition into a new career!
I finished the DesignLab UX Academy in August of last year (2021). While my overall experience was amazing, and I would highly recommend DesignLab for anyone wanting to invest in a bootcamp, there were a few things that were challenging.
1. The entire program is online and self-led. There are milestones to reach each week to stay on top of your work, and the academy staff are very communicative and helpful in keeping you on track. What was challenging was that there were no live ...I finished the DesignLab UX Academy in August of last year (2021). While my overall experience was amazing, and I would highly recommend DesignLab for anyone wanting to invest in a bootcamp, there were a few things that were challenging.
1. The entire program is online and self-led. There are milestones to reach each week to stay on top of your work, and the academy staff are very communicative and helpful in keeping you on track. What was challenging was that there were no live sessions outside of group critique, so it often felt like I was working in silo (because I was). Another challenge about this is that most of the content text-based. There is a great Slack community which came to my aid more than once, but you gotta be proactive about making those connections. It's worth it!
2. The career services curriculum felt like more of a burden than it felt helpful. I actually gave up on trying to keep up with it after the first few weeks, since what felt more important was focusing on applications than lessons and other deliverables. There was a period of stress because if you don't get a job within a year, you're eligible for a full refund - but ONLY if you keep up with the career services curriculum. I started to get worried that I wasn't keeping up with the curriculum, and was possibly not going to get a job within the year. Thankfully, I got a job and am starting exactly one year after completion! But this is a good thing to keep in mind. My career coaches were helpful to a degree, but there is so much dirty work that has to be done on your own in terms of networking and just getting yourself out there, that at a certain point it didn't feel like there was much that my career coach could offer me.
Overall, I would not have been able to gain the experience, knowledge and literal portfolio that enabled me to get my first job in the industry (at a really great company with great pay!!), if it wasn't for my experience at DesignLab. Any bootcamp will have pros and cons, but I don't regret my choice whatsoever!
