Correlation One

It is probably the selection process, complete with practical tests and incredibly competitive admissions (<6% for our cohort) that created such a great experience. Every other fellow there was passionate and brilliant, and the cohort was incredibly diverse both in terms of work experience, educational background, and life experience. Our team could not have been better, and I hope to continue working relationships in the future with the four other fellows that were assigned to our team.
The quality of instruction was the best I've ever had, and the engagement and encouragement has helped me better define my plans going forward. I am considering more education because of how wonderful this experience, led by professors from top universities, was. 
There are a lot of job opportunities for Fellows who are looking to change careers. Several people I know received good offers as a part of the program, even if they had little formal tech experience. The partner companies are very active in recruiting, and fellows have access to Q&A sessions and interactions with representatives from those companies. Despite not looking for a career change, I attended several of the sessions and learned a good amount about how different companies are structured and what they are doing in terms of both Data Science and Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

I'd hire any one of the fellows I graduated with because I know how intensive both the training and the initial recruitment process were. I recommend this program to everyone I know, and plan to stay involved in the future. I would do it again if I could! Read less

As many reviewers have said, DS4A/Empowerment is an amazing opportunity to improve your data science skills and grow your professional network, all while learning from a supportive community of peers and passionate instructors. I came into this program with limited data science/coding background, and although I found it very challenging, I could not be happier that I decided to take the leap and pushed myself to complete it. I would recommend this program for anyone, from people with prior DS/coding experience, to those like me who come from non-traditional backgrounds. Read less

Correlation One's data science for all program will exceed your expectations. Their curriculum is evidence-based, and the additional benefits that help to shape the DS4A program deserve recognition. 

Training like this has been a long time coming. I think there has been a divergence over the years between post-secondary school’s value proposition (undergraduate and graduate) and the changing business landscape. The ‘degree’ has been on the decline for over a decade, and I would posit that is because many of the traditional degree-type schools grew complacent with their 20th-century model. Career progression and mobility require lifelong professional development – and the solutions need not require a pile of money or synchronous learning. #rantover

Correlation One began as an idea, as most things do in life. The team’s passion and internal compass are what gave form to DS4A. Mark my words, this program’s influence has just begun. 

The more you invest (your time, your focus) in this program, the more satisfied you will be in the end. 

One of the main selling points, imo, for this program is actually being able to match supply (companies) with demand (underrepresented talent). Key word, actual (and a non-trivial number of jobs looking to be filled). 

Another invaluable pro. Professor Natesh Pillai. Have you seen barbers advertise, “I’m your barber’s barber”? Professor Pillai is unequivocally your professor’s professor. His energy and passion will permeate throughout the program. Professor Pillai is truly a force multiplier.  

The only criticism that I can think of about the program, and it is really not enough to reduce the overall surplus in value, has to do with some of the lectures not taught by Professor Pillai. (I would be interested to hear if the C1 team was able to do any analysis in the Slack channel on lessons that Professor Pillai did not teach.)

The program gave me exactly what I was looking for. It offered clear structure in following a curriculum teaching the programming tools data scientists use, along with offering a statistical framework for thinking about data and strategies to visualize data informatively. This curriculum was backed by fantastic teachers led by Prof. Natesh Pillai and TAs who went out of their way to make themselves available to help students grasp the information taught throughout the week. And on our final project, we even got our own industry mentors to both network with and help form an ultimate final project on. The cherries on top were the fantastic talks that the Correlation One team helped organize by bringing in data leaders and diverse leaders who were sponsoring our program. I greatly enjoyed being part of this community of people as excited about programming and statistics as I am. I also enjoyed being part of career conversations to learn about different applications of statistics at firms in various industries. DS4A - Empowerment was very important to me in terms of my skill/career development, as well as my confidence as a professional and what's possible with data fluency. Before DS4A, I was a rising senior in undergrad that knew data science and analytics was a good knowledge set to have, but didn't have the structure or the mentorship to really engage with it. My coding experience beforehand was an intro to CS course at my school, a little bit of R within behavioral sciences, and half of the online Harvard CS50 course. 
This program hands down taught me Python, and made me feel comfortable using packages like Pandas, matplotlib, and some statistical packages as well. It also exposed me to more command line work with Docker and AWS. The extended cases (jupyter notebooks with real business problems and guidance) and the 3 homework assignments went in depth into various DS methods, and I'm looking forward to reviewing them in the future.
Most of the lecturers are really great, however, be prepared for a commitment, as every Saturday for 13 weeks will be taken up (4 hours of lectures, talks, and then group capstone work). Many of the mentors for the program are awesome DS experts in some really fantastic industries and positions and are great resources too. 
Having some prior coding knowledge will really put you at an advantage to take in the full breadth of what the program has to offer, as well as some interest in behavioral research or statistics in general. However, if you're willing and able to put in the time, and looking to transition or start a more data-centric role or career, this program will be great for you.  Read less

Correlation One's DS4A program is truly an enriching experience.  I found the content to be well-rounded and address all aspects of Data Science, whether you need help with programming, analysis, or something else.  The instructors, TA's and mentors were extremely helpful.  The curriculum itself is very thorough, I am still reviewing it, so there is plenty to learn.  I highly recommend this program to anyone who is interested. I was a part of the inaugural US cohort, and I must say that this program was a great experience for me. I came in without any experience in Data Analytics and Data Science, but now I have gained confidence in my skills and understood the key aspects of the field. Working on Saturdays from 10 am - 7pm proved to be challenging, but there was a lot of valuable material, speakers, and time to work on group projects packed in. These Saturdays we definitely well spent. 
I appreciated the TAs that were available to answer questions and help direct us through our final data folios, as well as the pairing with industry expert mentors to give us insight into their industry and how our projects can be elevated. 

Overall, a great experience with access to a wonderful ecosystem of people to support you along your data science journey.  Read less

I participated in CorrelarionOne Data Science for All. It is a 13 week program on full stack data science fluency in Python.

While the classes are challenging, early and pretty long, they’re engaging, very applicable and fun. The program can be completed while working full time, it is self-contained meaning you don’t need any outside resources, and unlike other bootcamps, it has a great career development component.

The best part of this program? Definitely the people, form the instructors to the students. DS4A is very competitive—while you don’t need to have data science knowledge to get in, you do need a strong track record of success. This results in a cohort full of highly successful, strong driven students. As you build your skills, you’re also building your data science network with not just your peers but also the rotating instructors, guest speakers, and TAs. 

That said, given the rigor of the program and its focus on job readiness, I wouldn’t recommend it for a recent grad; to fully take advantage of the network and skills, I’d say it’s much better suited for someone with at least a couple of years of full time experience.   Read less

The Program is just amazing. Thanks to this program I have found a career for myself, and a purpose, it is just incredible. They also have career fairs with the sponsoring companies, some of them even wave the apply part you just tell them you are correlation one graduate and you go into interview, not all but many. Also the diversity and inclusion part is great, the conversation is open and direct and they get called out about things and they immediately improved and corrected, they do what they say. It it is very well structured and expectations are clear from day one. The project could be focused on an area of interest if you want to dedicate it towards that. You decide what the project is about with your team.
I really think this program makes a difference it is not just the technical skills, the empowerment is awesome, and I was able to help someone that needed some help with some data, made me feel like I can make a difference. I am now volunteering with a non profit called rare strides to create some dashboards for rare diseases it is amazing :)
I have to say if you have no experience in coding and python, be prepared to invest about 20 hours a week besides the Saturday classes, if you are familiar then maybe 10, the 3 assignments are intense and large and challenging, they don’t make it easy. I have taken graduate classes online and this compares, I would say sometimes even harder, because you have to come up with a project on your own, I mean with your team, find the data, clean it and know the code and make decisions, believe me you DON’T want to  miss the speakers, they are incredible, inspiring and are just so overwhelmingly amazing. You have to want it for sure. I had to balance a full time job and being a mom, I stopped other activities because it really is no time. Oh! but is worth it, a thousand times worth it. Read less

DS4A/Empowerment was such an invaluable experience. The professors and TAs genuinely care about your learning and aimed to help us learn as much as we could. They took our feedback very seriously and incorporated it where feasible. The program says it is designed for all level and that proves to be true. I thought about giving up at one point but the supportive community helped me stick it out. In addition, the job opportunities were plentiful. I didn’t know what to expect coming into DS4A. I honestly signed up on a whim as a way to stave off being underwhelmed in the midst of a pandemic. What I found was a community unlike anything else I’d experienced. A place where I was free to learn and be myself. It was an incredible 13 weeks of pure data fun that I now leverage in my PhD program at Vanderbilt. The course provides more than enough material for you to learn the data science process and it's really up to you in terms of how much you want to learn. DS4A's network is also incredible, and their corporate partners really want the students to succeed. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Personally I didn't expect for them to email me individually with relevant job opportunities but they did and I was very thankful. I really cannot speak highly enough about this program and its organizers. Read less

I had the opportunity to take the course on-campus in Bogotá in 2019, and it was an amazing and incredible experience. Not only was Professor Pillai a blast, but also the environment and the lessons were on par with what was advertised. Even though I had a pretty solid knowledge of data science before going in the program, I was able to learn a lot and the assignments were very challenging. 
Being able to work in a group project with other students was a great opportunity to really implement all the lessons we were taught while also get good hands-on experience in a end-to-end data science workflow. 
In the end I was able to build long-lasting friendships, learn a ton of new concepts, hone my skills and had a blast doing it. Read less

Summarized in 2 full days for 10 weeks this course give you the tools to advance in you DS/ML career. You learn how to think as scientist and also how to use some tools like Python, Jupyter, AWS, Matplotlib/Seaborn/Plotty, Scikitlearn, etc. to resolve real world cases. The goal is to build a project that is challenging but it helps to improve your skills. This bootcamp help me to change my job and move forward in my professional career.  Read less
