The focus of the course is extremely tilted towards Web development... absolutely not what I expected from a Data Analytics program.

This class blew my mind like a category 5 hurricane. If you take this class,

    I Made the right choice

I took the Full Stack immersive(full time) at the UC Berkeley Extension. This program was, quite honestly, way more than what I was expecting.  And that's a good thing. The material was really comprehensive and well presented. The curriculum for this program is adjusted to reflect what technical skills are currently sought in the job market.

To get the most out of this program you should basically clear your schedule and be prepared to put in a lot of after class time(80+ hours a w...

Thank you for your review, Mark! It’s our goal to provide a comprehensive learning experience to all of our students, so it's great to hear you saw this reflected in the program. Like you mentioned, the course does require a significant amount of additional hours outside of class to master the concepts, so we commend you for putting in the hard work. Our instructors and TAs are extremely passionate about student success and we're happy you had a blast in class - we also think David is amazing! Congratulations on graduating and best of luck in all your future endeavors.

If you are a woman, look into Hackbright

I just finished the UC Berkeley Extension Data Analytics and Visualization 6-month bootcamp and here are my take-aways:

Pros: Awesome and knowledgeable instructor; a LOT is covered so you are constantly learning; you learn data science specific tools, which wouldn't be covered in a fullstack engineering course.

Cons: Perhpas too much is covered and it becomes overwhelming and difficult to explore any particular tool in depth; the cost - it really should be about half of wha...

Hi Nicki, we first want to congratulate you on your dedication to this rigorous program! Thank you for taking the time to share your student experience with us, as we consider each review an opportunity for improvement. We know this is an immersive course and like you mentioned, it is fast-paced and time-intensive, requiring hours of supplemental work and studying outside of the classroom.

Our program prides itself on teaching students how to learn, providing a strong foundational skillset to be able to master additional data concepts and tools post-graduation. While we do cover a wide variety of topics at a high level, this foundation of knowledge allows individuals to learn how to problem-solve and self-teach, a key skill needed in a data analyst's career. We do find that as the course progresses, students become more and more confident in the knowledge they have learned and feel empowered to apply their skills in the professional world after the program. However, we are constantly working on improving our curriculum to ensure students are successfully able to learn the most valuable and in-demand technologies.

It is our goal to support students throughout the entire boot camp journey through in-class assistance, office hours, tutoring sessions, and other channels like Slack, phone, and email, but we regret that you felt that the support you received was not what you needed, particularly following the departure of your TA. Your Career Director did provide your cohort an in-depth job search workshop focused on data roles following graduation, as well as an Employer Competitive Resources sheet. Did you find these to be helpful? We understand you would have preferred a more tailored career services experience, and while we do customize our Career Services by programs, we sincerely appreciate this feedback as it helps us improve and ensure we are meeting our students' needs. We strive to set clear expectations and provide individualized support through technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, and more, but we are continually refining our career services to best help students prepare for the job search.

The student experience does not end upon graduation, as it is our goal for all students to leave the program feeling confident in their new skills and prepared for success in the job search. We would love the opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how else we can support you at this time, whether through additional learning materials or career support. Please reach out to me at (510) 306-1218. We wish you the best of luck as you move forward in your endeavors!

Thank you so much for your review, Joe! Congratulations on graduating, we applaud all of the hard work you put into learning these valuable skills. It made our day to hear that you found the curriculum well-rounded and competitive with today's latest technologies, and that you enjoyed your instructor, TAs, and the program as a whole.

We understand that you would have preferred more scheduling flexibility for some aspects of our career services, and we sincerely appreciate this feedback as it helps us to improve and ensure that we are meeting our students' needs. We strive to set clear expectations and provide individualized support through technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, and more, but we are also constantly refining our career services to best help students prepare for the job search.

I entered into this boot camp with zero background in coding and a lot of trepidation about my ability to follow along the many languages we were set to learn. From day one our instructor, David Hallinan, put my mind at ease. His ability to relate to the students, to break down complex code into relatable terms, and his eagerness to help us succeed made coming to class every day enjoyable. Great experience and great Bootcamp!!!

I never thought I will take someday a Coding Bootcamp, but I did! Before that, I didn't have experience at all! And now after 12 very intensive weeks, I can write code and build these amazing apps. We were told that we have to put about 40 hours beside the class. Glad I took this Bootcamp

Before coming into this bootcamp, I didn't have any experience in coding. I couldn't imagine me writing more than a few lines a code before I started. I also heard it was very challenging going into it and it actually was. BUT, now that I'm down with the program, I've written easily hundreds of lines of code and even though it was more challenging than I expected, I'm glad I went through it.
