Not sure if this is the same outside the SF Bay Area, but I noticed a huge discrepancy between Computer Science and Data Analytics salaries versus Business/Marketing/Sales salaries. I knew I needed to learn those tech skills if I wanted to afford to live where I am going forward. Plus, I was always interested in technology, but wasn't young enough to grow up in an environment where women were encouraged to pursue careers in STEM. I feel like now it is a lot more common to see women in Technology, and I am happy to see it.
I am planning to move to a different department within my current company, which is a tech company. After I obtain my certificate I will be eligible to go for Product Management, Business Operations, Growth Analytics, etc. – there are a ton of applications for data skills. I've found that coding is a lot like math (a lot of f(x) stuff) so if you feel comfortable with math, you should definitely learn how to code. Everyone I know who works in technology loves it. Soon I will be one of them :')

I am not just drinking from the proverbial fire hose of UC Berkeley vigorous curriculum. If this were the case, the greatest takeaway could be what's stated on the syllabus. This boot camp has been so much more. In its entirety, this experience will not only allow me a competitive edge as a cyber sec professional, but the brilliance/inspiration demonstrated by the instructors/assistants and success manager offered lessons in mental fortitude, gratitude, and compassion that extend to all realms personal/professional/academic. Some of my takeaways could arguably be attributed to the unique composition and timing of my specific boot camp, but by far, the potent constant, student success manager, Krishana Anderson, is an incredible mind and person that is willing, eager, able to help you maximize your experience as you get closer to your goals (just come driven to advance yourself because she can't do it for you). Whether you never graduated high school or just finished an ivy league doctorate, this boot camp offers the knowledge, tools, and support to advance a path in IT/cyber security. This is NOT empty rhetoric. Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn to verify claims or ask more specific questions. As evidence to my bold statements, my class enrolled brand new entrants to the IT space as well as industry veterans actively employed, and the course provides the content, structure, and support for BOTH groups and everyone in between. I am humbled, touched, and eternally grateful.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0Boot Camp Team of Berkeley Boot Camps

I would recommend going on Udemy and buying programs from Colt Steele
https://www.udemy.com/user/coltsteele/ and Maximilian Schwarzmüller https://www.udemy.com/user/academind/ for $14.99 when they have a sale. What is important is really learning what they teach and apply it to a project or 2 to get attention from recruiters and then practice coding challenges on leetcode and hacker rank.
Secondly, it does not begin to cover everything you need to know about Full Stack Development especially the backend stuff. You need to know systems design, deployment to AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc that are not taught here. It is a lot of money to just gain the basics.Overall3.0Curriculum2.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0Boot Camp Team of Berkeley Boot Camps

Thank you for your feedback, Juliet. As this is a boot camp, we recognize the course material is fast-paced and challenging while covering a wide range of topics. It's our mission to help as many hard-working, aspiring web developers as we can, so our program is designed for individuals with varying levels of proficiency, including beginners.
We equip students with a robust academic framework and begin by covering the fundamentals. Each lesson builds upon the last, helping students create a strong foundational skill set and learn how to problem-solve and self-teach—key skills needed in any developer’s career. This foundation equips students with the skills to master additional languages or frameworks following graduation.
From your review, we understand you did not feel this learning approach was sufficiently beneficial for you and realize you would have liked to spend more time focusing on systems design, deployment to AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker. We appreciate your input as we're constantly optimizing our curriculum and program offerings.
We would love the opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how else we can assist you at this time. If you would like, please reach out to us at (510) 306-1218. -

I looked into options available and suitable and found the Berkeley Data Analytics Boot Camp. It ticked many of the right boxes:- Broad curriculum that would give me exposure to a large set of tools.
- 24 weeks duration, not too long and not too short.
- Could be completed remotely 100%.
- Recognized University in the tech industry.
- Right price and payment scheme.
- Career Services aimed to help me find a position within Data Sciences.
Currently we are half way through the course and I am extremely happy with the program. The material is well structured and provides guided hands-on learning on the multiple tools and technologies. There are also lots of support available. There are multiple Office Hours where the Teaching Assistants (TAs) can provide support and answer questions. It's also possible to request additional tutoring one-on-one sessions and even post questions to the entire class via Slack.
The instructor Ryan, and the TAs are very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. A few of the TAs have been through the Boot Camp themselves, so they are familiar with the type of questions and issues that we may have.
I have also found some of the Career Services presentations very informative and have helped me feel more confident about my future.
However, it's a fast paced course with lots of tools and programming languages presented. I feel that I need to put in at least 20hrs/week are needed to get the most out of it.
One piece of advice that was given to us at the beginning was to stay ahead of the lectures, reviewing the online module materials ahead of the lecture and not letting much time pass before completing the week's challenge.
Cheers,

It was a year of adjustments. Most people had to acquire new skills to get a job. For me, it was the year when I decided to make room for myself in my new homeland and become employable. I set out to self-educate myself through various online courses. However, what I missed was the experience of experts in the field that interests me. Also, the way of employment here is different than in my homeland, so I needed help with that as well. Luckily, I saw an ad for the Berkeley Tech Project Management Boot Camp, where they offered just that: instructors who are professionals and Career Services’ help with hiring. After reading the reviews, I realized that this is the right program for me.
Now that I’ve passed half the course, I know I’ve made a good decision. Instructor William is an expert, very knowledgeable, and eager to help and answer all questions. His insight into day-to-day commitments, advice on difficulties, and possible solutions in the Technology Project Manager’s workday is very helpful. The knowledge and skills that I already gained in this program, helped me to present myself as more of an expert and embrace challenging and demanding roles in Technology Project Management.
This is a very challenging program, but also very satisfactional in terms of gaining new skills and knowledge that is in high demand. If you are someone looking for a way to change a career path, or even only to acquire a new set of skills, look no further than UC Berkeley. Always challenge yourself, learn as much as you can, it wouldn’t be waste of time. Don’t be uncomfortable to ask questions or get a tutor, there is a team of professionals watching your progress and wishing you success.

It was a daunting idea going back to studying after a break of 22 years. At first it was really nerve racking and I felt I had to learn how to focus, and pay attention. The online classes were also a challenge, but with our friendly instructor Franco and the helpful TA's who made us feel at ease, online learning does not seem so hard. I also really appreciate the tutor I have been provided with, that extra help in clarifying topics I have doubts in, really is a lifesaver for me. It was certainly a great class and would love to do another if time permitted the intensity.
Before starting this bootcamp, I had recently left my prior position as an Accountant with some programming experience and was looking for a general programming school. Application into the school itself was a tad too simple and rushed. Though if not rushed, I would've missed the amazing instructor and the friends I made afterwards.
My instructor Jerome Chenette, who is a professional within the web development field was extremely caring and well versed. He's simply the best and most passionate teacher I've ever seen. He takes time to ensure students are all caught up after each section, and takes time after each class to help students catch up (especially if he sees the effort you put into practicing and learning). I can not imagine where I'd be without his guidance and push towards excellence.
The course itself is dauntingly fast and thorough, with some portions that I wish were covered. Although TAs can seem frightening at first, once you interact and raise your hand the TAs are amazingly helpful and patient. TAs are often the friendliest and top of their prior cohorts. You'll receive new information crammed into ~4 hours inclass every day. With the expectation that you stay after hours to either work with others or do homework. The recommended amount of time to learning inclass (20hrs) and outside (40hrs) of class is 60 total per week. You will definitely get back what you put in through those grueling nights. (Yes, I counted my hours to an average of 60.)
Although job assistance was minimal during the bootcamp, post assistance was fairly good. They gave a lot of pointers to improving resume and dedicate several 1 on 1 hours through online chat. Personally I would've loved if the bootcamp was a longer to accommodate job assistance, or lengthening the end of the cohort for students to discuss their search rather than online-only. However, I will admit with their assistance and a bit of luck, I managed to recieved a contractor role in my current company.
I'm certain others will wonder whether it's worth the $13k and 3-month investment. Most definitely, even if you're not aiming to become a web developer, it gives you a foundation to begin studying on your own. Either to learn new languages or dive deeper into web, you'll be amazed at how translatable new information becomes. The 60hours a week are not a joke, as it will reinforce your knowledge with every struggle. Avoid taking the easy way out, such as completely copying from someone else. In the end, it's up to you to ask for help and your new found skill. Odds are you'll find some new friends like me.

As a part-time, six-month program, it gives you some options – if you are making a career change, then you can put in a lot more extra time each week to build great demo projects and work on your job search, or if you need to earn some money you can work part-time and still keep up, although you will probably need more time to practice and get your project portfolio together after finishing.
It is a bit unnerving for prospective students that Trilogy chooses not to publish outcomes, but from talking to other students as well as grads from other boot camps, the outcomes (at least for our cohort) seem at least as good as what other programs provide – a good number of people achieved their goal (new job, promotion, new skills) within a month of graduating, and most of the rest look like they will get there if they follow through in the coming months.
The curriculum is rigorous, but the course material is a bit disorganized at times. It pays to make sure your computer stays trouble-free, and you should be aggressive about installing software and getting it working ahead of time (you’ll be doing that all through the program). The instructor was a superb teacher, and the support system is extensive, with multiple options for getting help. The career services were outstanding – every time we went over and refined / revised my job search materials, I’d see an uptick in interest within a couple of weeks, and I ended up getting multiple offers a few weeks after finishing. Getting the projects and online profiles in really good shape to show to employers really did make a difference.
The one downside is that with a slower pace, especially during group projects, you can get away with being passive and not learning. The career services calendar also tends to fill up quickly and the meetings go by fast, so if you don’t do your part to actively seek out support and prepare, you won’t get the benefits. Like all boot camps, this one isn’t a magical metamorphosis where you enter as your ordinary self and leave as a full-fledged Data Scientist, able to easily outcompete any five-year industry veteran for a super high-paying job. Instead, it will provide a reliable path for you to make yourself more employable, more confident, and substantially more valuable, so that it pays for itself many times over.

I took Full Stack Web Development course for 6 months. I was paying 1600$ a month and 2500$ upfront payment.
Classes were three times a week. First 2 months went pretty well. They explained js, html and css. After we started jumping from one module to another yet nobody could understand them. There are group projects which supposed to help you to get along with people and learn working in a team.
But how are you going to work when only 10-15% class were catching up with instructor. After 4 months our instructor started drinking on fridays and missing saturday classes. He missed 4 classes and TA 's were not that professional to be able to explain the topics.
I personally was doing uber and paying 1600 a month. Working 68 hours a week and going to classes. You couldn't imagine my face everytime I would make it class on Saturday morning after long uber driving night and see how Instructor isn't in class again. When it happened 4th time - I lost all motivation and quit going to classes. I thought I will be remote at least to save time for myself. But remote classes were very low quality and most of the times translation was going off as it was unpaid subscription.
School also supposed to have a Student Success Manager and within 2 months 3 different people came to class and represented themself as SSM and left. Honestly I never seen any of them again. So we didn't have SSM for the time we studied there.
Also they promised to help with job search ---- Zero Help!
After the course I talked to one of the directors in school and explained him everything. I explained him how much I worked to pay for school and what we were getting in the class. I didn't pay for 1 months of school and they still haven't give me my Certification because of that. Even if I gained all necessary points to finish school.
UC Berkeley ext (San Francisco) - literally broke my life in San Francisco. I feel scammed by this school.Overall1.0Curriculum2.0Job support1.0Instructors2.0Boot Camp Team of Berkeley Boot Camps

Thank you for your review, Elvin. We're glad to hear you enjoyed learning JavaScript, HTML, and CSS at the beginning of the course.
From your review, we understand that your program experience was not what you were hoping for. We know that this is a challenging course, and we try to make it clear to students that it is fast-paced, quickly moving from one complex topic to the next over a limited time period. As such, we provide all students with several outlets of support, including office hours, free tutoring, Slack, optional one-on-one meetings, supplemental resources, and structured review sessions that reinforce core concepts. Each lesson in our curriculum builds on the last, and we do find that as the curriculum progresses, most students feel more and more confident in their skills.
During the later portion of your cohort, your instructor did have pre-planned absences for which we arranged coverage through our teaching assistants. We understand that not all teaching styles will resonate with every individual, and we try to encourage students to attend live classes as attending remotely does not always provide the same learning experience. We pride ourselves on teaching students how to learn so that they can build a strong foundational skill set to master other languages and frameworks following graduation.
Like you mentioned, your class did encounter some unexpected Student Success Manager (SSM) changes, and we understand that this impacted your experience. At the launch of your cohort, your original SSM had to depart, leaving an interim team member in place. Later on, your cohort transitioned over to our current SSM who supported the class through the final weeks. We regret to hear our boot camp support did not meet your expectations and appreciate your input as we are constantly optimizing our offerings.
We did note your conversation with our Boot Camp Director shortly after the program concluded. To successfully complete the boot camp and receive a certificate of completion, students must submit all academic requirements and finalize extenuating payments. If these requirements are not met, students are ineligible for the program's career services.
It is our goal for all learners to complete the course feeling properly equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to step out into the industry. If you would like, we would truly welcome the opportunity to speak to you personally. Please reach out to us directly at (510) 306-1218.
