I finished this program on may & its a waste of time. 

The course is disorganized, the career counseling and resume building that they advertise is basic information that can be found through a simple google search.

Go to WGU, your money will be better spent there.

Your career coach and student success manager are basically useless.

I got a job before the program was even ove but that was due to me taking matters into my own hands, studying for certs on my own and my background in law enforcement.

Like i said, avoid this bootcamp at all costs

The American University Cybersecurity Program is the perfect choice to anyone who wants to start the journey of cybersecurity. The program provides the fundamental knowledge to learn from the basics moving forward to more complex and sophisticate topics. The most important is that provides a closer look of the real work experience with several practices, make it easy to get the skills required to perform and excellent job. 


In my case with a background of Electronic Systems Engineering, it gave much more to keep going to a more specialized career, update my knowledge and learn new things that I only dreamed before.

I genuinely enjoyed attending the University of Central Florida's Cyber Security boot camp. I went into the program a complete novice and came out with hands on experience and the confidence to go into job interviews knowing what I am talking about. The instructors are seniors in thier field and currently still working so they where up to date on everything that was going on right now.

This is by far the biggest regret of my adult life. After going back and forth on whether to make this leap I was convinced it was worth looking into. I stressed over passing the entry exam, which was far too easy to be any sort of actual assessment. Sure it helped that I was already in the tech world (at the time working as a help desk support tech). I was looking to use this course to propel me into the growing world of Cyber Security. The only promise that was made and kept by HackerU was that they would take my money and not offer refunds of any kind. Despite numerous meetings stating that the course was lacking. Materials were outdated and even the instructors had trouble following. The labs were littered with misspellings, typos, and flat out incorrect/incomplete info. I even had a bout of depression after realizing I had wasted almost 2 years and over $15K on this lackluster experience. The phrase I'm still haunted by today is from one of the many meetings the students had with instructors, advisors and higher ups. We're expressing frustrations and dissatisfaction with the course and they're telling us we need to be more proactive in our search for answers. Think outside the box and a slew of other catch phrases that truly signified how hopeless this process was going to be. While I understand the message they were attempting to convey, it's not what you expect when you've paid over $15k to learn new skills. I will add that this was intended to be an in person experience, COVID had other plans. It's possible that the online learning wasn't planned, it definitely didn't help with the learning process. STEER CLEAR OF THIS ORGANIZATION no matter what they're calling themselves now. They attached themselves to Major institutions to bolster their credibility. The content was a good overview of what the IT/Cybersecurity field has to offer. The labs offered a way to gain some hands-on experience and be able to add that to your resume. The career services was amazing! It helped me gain insight on how to create an effective resume. They also prepared me for interviews for the jobs they helped me search for. For anyone coming across these reviews I really encourage you to reconsider. This “course” is nothing more than a scam disguised as education. The fact unlv still sells it is criminal. It is a total waste of time and all the reviews on here are clearly faked. If you look at the dates they are all made on the same day. Please stay clear of this program for your own good. Read less

Course lacked some depth. High level information for Microsoft OS and Linux security, could have went further. Provided network and network security at a very high level, unless you were in IT would have been hard to follow. Severely lacked Cloud Computing training. Believe it was lease than 15 class hours including labs. Programming and DFIR were pretty sufficient.  Read less
