Having read the reputations and recognition of the teachers and institutions involved, my expectations were quite high. As a graduate, I can say that the course met and exceeded my expectations by far, the quality of the teaching staff and the relevance of the material made those weeks an extremely enriching experience. I was involved working with data before, but until then I didn't really do any further analysis with the data we collected thought our process in the company. Data Science for all (which was the one I was enrolled in) allowed me to perform this additional analysis and ask myself the right questions from the business perspective.

Contentwise, the course content are really well designed. It covers both basic and advanced approaches regarding the data science process as a whole. Instructors use a case based learning that really pays off because it covers topics that are both highly related with real life experience (real state, disease propagation, energy stocks, etc.) and makes the student generate insights from the business/high level perspective.

Regarding the instructors, to keep it short, they are amazing! Our professor demonstrated not only to have great subject domain but also proved to be very charismatic and open minded.

To sum up, this is truly a once in a lifetime experience, as this course not only provide the tools to get a better understanding of the world in general from the data science and data analysis perspective but it lets you engage with others like nothing else before. This experience not only changed my point of view about everything I used to know, but allowed to consolidate a network of peers for future work and like-minded companions. Read less

It was a great experience, from all points of view. Academic, logistical, methodological. I want to highlight three aspects of the DS4A:
1. Having the capacity to see data science as an opportunity to address the challenges that LATAM countries facing.
2. Implementing training strategies focused on real projects/challenges, that integrate areas, instead of separating them into subjects
3. The relevance of Teamwork, both at the level of planning the training process as well as teamwork at the level of the learning process, in solving challenges.

I was a part of the Fall cohort of Correlation One's DS4A/Empowerment.  The environment was uplifting and supportive and inclusive in a way that I've never experienced before. Natesh is an excellent instructor, no wonder he trajes at Harvard! All the TAs were helpful, smart, professional. Overall, the most important thing is that I learned content that I never tight I would be able to learn, and I feel like I have a solid foundation to keep doing practice projects.  I wouldn't feel comfortable getting a data analyst job right away,  but certainly some of the cohort did!  Read less

My experience with Correlation One's DS4A was a wonderful one, and it motivated me to improve my data skills. 

First of all, the instructor: Natesh is an outstanding teacher, leading us to understand the fundamentals of Data Science and communicate insights in layman's terms. 

Second, the TA's: they were helpful and demanding at the same time, pushing us to deliver good data products. 

Third, the curriculum: it was meticulously planned and executed, although I wished it were a bit more difficult and challenging, but it's my personal opinion, nevertheless. 

May I add that this is a course that I would recommend for anyone ranging between a beginner and a full data scientist, being junior data scientists the best fit for it.  Read less

A fun and interesting entry-level program that gives the basis needed to work efficiently with data science, machine learning and AI, as well as an overall view of the fundamentals of software development. Excellent course. I really enjoyed and learned a lot about AI. The course is simple, entertaining and in each session you learn a lot. The times allotted to each session are fair and enough time is given to deepen on each exposed topic. The instructors are very professional and capable of clearly and accurately transmitting knowledge. The problem in which I have been working is the current peace-building practice in an urban complex post-agreement setting that does not define peace from bottom-up nor directly measure what peace is.  In this scenario, peacebuilding interventions address people in situations of forced displacement, migrants, ex-combatants in a reconciliation process and address coexistence with young people in urban culture groups and gangs in a context of urban violence such as the one present in Cali.   Under this context, the city-region perspective is biased by urban interventions that do not include rural perceptions, which generates a poor collective impact of peace-building works, even in rural territories.   In this setting, members of the community, institutional and humanitarian actors are affected when evidence of impact is required (i.e. independent evaluations) and when a common vision of "peace" needs to be accounted for collective actions to refine policing when a new actor joins in the current collaboration.

I am evidencing the impact of this program. First, because it changed my practice by adopting a robust analytical approach from cases to learn Python. Every case was built in harmony with coherence for the program. I call this first dimension program architecture.

Second, because the learning journey keeps me motivated through thematic diversity iteration within a sequence. As some thematics iterate, the motivation keeps me on the journey and the analytical approach got deep developed. I call this second dimension analytical empathy.

Finally, because of the essential challenges on a basis of face-to-face exchanges as an opportunity for team building by developing professional networks.  I call this third dimension humanized networking.

In conclusion, the impact of this program may be measured in at least three dimensions: the coherence of the program architecture, the diversity of the analytical empathy, and the effectiveness of the humanized networking. For these reasons, I do recommend the Correlation One program DS4A as an exceptional opportunity for building up the foundations of data science for anyone.

Note: I keep working on Pyhton in problems like anomaly detection, clustering, and classification. My motivations are in both personal and professional dimensions. I'm looking to combine the challenge of defining what peace is from the bottom-up in a rural perspective with transforming the practice of peacebuilding by facilitating that citizens to directly measure what peace is. In this context, our innovation is a tool for define, measure, and contrast peacebuilding contributions. Last year I focused on a study of the intersection of transnational and urban crime and violence at three harbor towns at the pacific coast of Colomba.

DS4A - Colombia was an enriching course, in which in a short time a lot was learned about data science, data management, bases in artificial intelligence, etc. The assignments given in the course made it possible to reinforce the topics given in class in the best way. Additionally, the development of the project was a complementary work that allowed me to deepen the topics learned in class. The time required is adequate to have a correct understanding of the issues. Read less
