UX Design Institute is an accredited online UX design program that offers intensive 6-month or 12-month courses, resulting in a Professional Diploma in UX Design from the Glasgow Caledonian University. The courses are delivered entirely online with video modules and regular mentor-led webinars. Each course has a dedicated mentor, all of which are UX professionals with years of industry experience. Students create several projects throughout their time in the program with the aim of enhancing their prospects in the job market. The programs conclude with a 2-hour exam required to receive the Diploma.
UX Design Institute applicants don’t need experience in design or technology to enroll. Having one or both may help you advance, but the program was created with beginners in mind. Students are admitted on a case-by-case basis after a consultation with one of UDI’s Education Advisors. Applicants fill out an online form after which someone from the UX design institute will follow up to discuss enrollment. The Pros:
- The course is very well laid out and modules are easy to follow. The way it's taught online is better than anything else I've done in the past.
- They have regular sessions with professionals to go over your coursework and answer your questions.
- They hold 'insider' talks so you can hear stories from people in the business from all different types of companies and backgrounds.
- You can talk to their careers guidance expert who'll give you really great feedback in terms of your work and how to land your first UX design or related job etc.
- They're a recognised institution and the certification will be taken seriously.
- You can work full time and do this course easily if you're disciplined.
The Cons:
- If you don't have a related background (Tech/IT/Design/Marketing) and apply for jobs with only your single UXDI case study to show, it'll be VERY hard to get a job. Luckily I do have the background and it's the main reason I'm getting replies to be very honest.
- UXDI do make it sound like you'll get a job straight away, you won't, well it depends on how seriously you take the course and how proactive you are, but don't expect a job to be just handed to you.
- You only get feedback if you ask, you need to be very proactive to do well and to receive help.
- It is expensive for something you can learn in your own time for free but you do get a cert and if you need the pressure of deadlines and someone grading you then I guess this isn't a con.
Overall:
- Really worth it if you have the time to put in and are passionate about this line of work. Do expect it to be difficult to land your first job but be patient and it'll all work out in the end.

I really enjoyed the UXDI Diploma, and feel like I have learned a lot as a graphic designer looking to expand my career and knowledge to UX design. This is a really good course if you are self-sufficient and don't mind being left to your own devices. The curriculum is thorough and takes you through the design process step by step, which is a really useful way to learn the different parts of UX design. The exam was a super helpful way to memorise and learn the terminology and key principles. I have already taken a lot of the knowledge into my job as a graphic designer.
The main snag with the course for me was that some of the project guidance felt quite vague, and you don't get much beyond the project PDF and a video to explain it. They didn't make it too clear how closely to follow the examples in the research/analysis briefs. This may not be so accessible for people who are neurodivergent. They do have live chat support, and going to the webinars for feedback was really useful, but I think it would be better for the briefs to be more accessible up front, or to provide specialised support for those with ADHD, autism e.t.c
I chose to do the desktop path rather than the mobile path, and I found that the examples for the design projects were all very mobile specific, so I had to work out quite a bit for myself during the design stages. I think they would do well to include or mix some of the examples between desktop/mobile. They mainly used one brief as an example throughout, meaning if you did one of the others it made it a bit more challenging – not necessarily a bad thing!
This may not be the best course for you if for e.g. you are a lone worker or if you have just moved to a new country, as some of the research and analysis briefs require you to get colleagues/friends/family involved.
The videos were interesting and informative, but some felt a bit long and repetitive. There were a couple of accessibility issues, mainly that when navigating to the next video it did not remember your video settings, so if you prefer to watch on a faster/slower speed or need captions, you had to switch them on every time. -

The student service were very professional and responded within the day or even within the hour if I alined with their time zone. I enjoyed the live reviews of my work and felt like a superhero when they allowed me to present the work to an online audience who were also students, it was exactly like my past architecture studios. Constructive feedback was great, could be tougher, but I guess not everyone can take the criticism of their new works. Overall, if you are thinking to Challenge yourself to UX/UI, look for a program that is aligned with a university accreditation because you never know if you want to apply those credits to a course later on. -

The content has been exactly what I expected and I was not disappointed. They go out of their way to make this as simple as possible. The team has been very responsive when asking questions on the Slack channel. When I contacted the team due to a family crisis they were completely sympathetic and agreed to pause my course time limit while I sorted my family life out. In a time of absolute chaos for me, the UXDI team was really understanding. They allowed me to start the clock where I let off. I am truly grateful. They'll never understand how helpful that was to know I could focus on my family.
The course content was great from start to finish. When I had questions they were great on Slack ready to jump into your figma file to see if they could sort out a specific thing I was trying to do. I would recommend this course over and over again. Glad I chose UXDI. -

This was an excellent course, I knew absolutely nothing about the subject to begin with, but an old college friend was changing career and he had applied. And I heard that UX is a growth area right now, with great pay and the ability to work independently; this is important to me.
The team at the UX Design Institute were everything that good User Experience is about. They were helpful, but firm in keeping students on track. They were polite and respectful, and also empathic. My elderly father died towards the end of the course, and the Institute was extremely empathic and supportive. I completed the course with a small extension, so I felt supported, looked after, and empowered to finish the course.
I’m really thrilled to finally be a certified UX Professional. It was a steep learning curve at times, there was a lot of project work where I wasn’t sure what the projects could contribute to designing interfaces, as I knew nothing about UX before I took the course. In the end, it became clear what all the research was for. I’d say to prospective students, keep steaming through the process of projects; it will all make sense in the end.

I can only recommend the program, the content, and the way it is structured and conveyed. Plenty of resources offered by the UX Design Institute help you get an interdisciplinary approach to UX Design and learn the essential UX tools and techniques necessary for practicing UX professionally. The course content and the way it is taught are amazing. All aspects of the job of UX designers are covered and treated from a variety of perspectives. The assignments are challenging as is the final exam, but this is standard in good education, so it is absolutely necessary to get a professional diploma. The assignments were all very helpful and engaging, offering deep insights in UX theory and practice.
There is also a great flexibility in learning, which is very important, though related to greater responsibility from your side because you have to organize your learning process and assignment delivery schedule. However, the UX Design Institute offers instant guidance and support if you need help with anything. They are very friendly and caring with all students and graduates, helping with valuable career insights, practical advice, and portfolio prep sessions. I was hesitant to join another bootcamp style online learning system, but was sold on it after a wonderful conversation with a program advisor. Once I started, I was greeted by my mentor and tutor, who have been with me since day one and have provided me with a plethora of helpful feedback, advice, and additional resources to read throughout my journey. The response time I get from everybody has been incredibly quick whether it's waiting for an assignment to get reviewed, or if I have a general question about the assignment I'm on or even just UX in general. I've also recently been connected with a career coach, and while our interactions have been limited at this point, I've already gained some truly helpful insight from her, and look forward to our future meetings.
What I love about the course is that it's an at-your-own pace program, meaning you can do it as fast as you please, or at your own convenience. Because my current job has ebbs and flows to the amount of work I'm given, I can play catchup on slow weeks and get many tasks submitted, or submit just one or two assignments on busier weeks and make sure I'm giving myself enough breaks to where I can decompress and try to absorb the information before jumping back into it. The course has been prepared excellently with an intro course that gives you the basics of what UX entails and provides you with a quick project to kickstart your journey. Once you complete that part, you're thrown into UX Immersion where you take on a course project for the entire duration, starting from research practices like competitor analysis and user interviews, to creating a high-fidelity prototype of the responsive web-app you are tasked to create. While I'm not the entire way through this course yet, I'm enjoying every second of my journey and feel like I'm truly developing great portfolio pieces that I can add to my website and start applying for jobs with in no time. I also love that there's a Slack community with highly active students, alumni, and CF staff that are always extremely helpful from answering questions to offering and asking for feedback on assignments. I've already made several connections I'm thrilled to have and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. -

I liked that this course is self paced and time flexible. I graduated with the UX Design institute earlier this year and have to say I was super-impressed with the whole package.
Initially I was not sure if this would provide me with the value I needed, and was cautious about investing in the course, especially as it was a fair amount of money to spend.
I have to say though, that the course was very high quality.
The modules covered all areas of the UX Design process, included engaging video modules, blogs, articles and lots of references to external content and publications.
Many modules included hands-on projects, which really did cement the learning and give you brilliant content for your portfolio.
The team are always on hand to answer any questions and are very responsive too.
The course really has strengthened my UX design skills hugely and increased my confidence in what I can deliver for my clients.

As a seasoned designer and developer without much formal education, I wanted to strengthen my skills in UX process and methods. While I found the research and analysis modules especially rewarding, I was also greatly inspired by everything I learned throughout the course. The modules encompass many aspects of our jobs as designers and researchers, creating a solid knowledge base and practical skills for becoming better at what we do and understanding how everything interconnects.
I'd also like to highlight the recurring webinars for each content block. Watching experts demonstrate and review real-world examples was affirming and inspiring when I was uncertain about solving tasks. This support, combined with the student success team's availability for questions and the collaborative Slack community of fellow students sharing progress, was incredibly valuable for my success.
I've already applied much of the theory and practical skills I learned from this course in my job, and I frequently reference my notes and project portfolio.

Some of the highlights for me were:- The curriculum is well-structured, paced and succinctly delivered by UX Design Institute founder and CEO Colman Walsh.
- The course mentors were always available within the hour to answer questions, give helpful feedback and encouragement on my project submissions throughout the duration of the course.
- Finally, the UX Design Institute support network is very helpful and friendly. It was here that I came across the insightful “UX Insiders” webinar series that gave me a very in depth look at how design professionals have broken into and brought their strengths to the realm of UX design.
Having this certificate on my resume has already started opening doors to new work opportunities and I can't wait to start putting these skills into action in the future 💖 -

I successfully completed the UX Design fundamental course at the UX Design Institute, expanding my understanding of UX alongside my Front-End developer profession. While the course heavily relies on external articles(resources), having written handouts would enhance inclusivity for different learning preferences. Some individuals learn quickly through either watching or reading. The self-paced structure and flexible exam scheduling were advantageous, though some exam questions felt unrelated to the video content, making them very difficult to answer(It is ambiguous). Overall, I am happy!
Pros:- The instructor demonstrated a profound understanding of UX Design, delivering an exceptional and amazing presentation.
- The team exhibited a friendly and communicative style, responding promptly with a positive attitude (Slack + Email).
Cons:- The exam covered topics not addressed in the modules, emphasizing the importance of reviewing those external articles and the UX glossary. I strongly recommend everyone to read them all.
- The video player lacked an auto-continuous play function and airplay mode, consistently defaulting to lower video quality despite a high-speed internet connection.

I enrolled in the Professional Diploma course to specialize in UX, having a rough understanding of some concepts. Despite a difficult and delayed start for personal reasons, I was able to quickly catch up on the program later at my own cadence and successfully completed the course at a quicker pace. The videos are captivating and really easy to follow and remember. A ton of day-to-day examples help understand the concepts developed in the videos. The project work is straight forward, although quite intense when you try to do it seriously. Don't underestimate the time it will take, but it's definitely great learning! I was self-sufficient working with the project instructions and the webinars (both are needed), I rarely needed assistance. It was great to have access to the session replays, as the timing wasn't always compatible with family schedules. I was very hesitant to enroll on a fully online course, but the UX Design Institute made it really easy and smooth! My take-away is that I love this discipline and I highly recommend this course!
