Westcliff University Bootcamp is unique in that bootcamp students can use federal financial aid to cover their bootcamp tuition. Silje Deuerlein, Westcliff University’s Director of Recruitment and Outreach, joins us to explain the types of federal financial aid available to bootcamp students and how to apply for them. Silje shares which bootcamp students are eligible, and how federal aid makes it possible for bootcampers to make a career change into tech.
Silje, how do you work with students at Westcliff University Bootcamp?
I am the Director of Recruitment and Outreach. My team and I support and guide students through the enrollment process to help them reach their life and career goals. We work with a diverse student population group of students and have created a supportive and streamlined admissions process for working professionals. We are excited that Westcliff, an established and regionally accredited institution, can offer high-caliber bootcamps approved for financial aid.
What kind of financial aid is available to Westcliff University bootcamp students?
There are many types of financial aid available for those who qualify, including:
In addition, we have a variety of scholarships people can apply for as well on our website.
How did Westcliff University Bootcamp get approved for this financial aid?
Our programs went through the appropriate process required through BPPE and WASC accreditation. This means that our bootcamps meet the standards and criteria to be approved for financial aid.
What are the requirements for a student to use financial aid towards their bootcamp tuition?
The requirements are the same for bootcamps as our degree programs, since these courses qualify for up to 18 academic credits.
How does a bootcamp student apply for financial aid?
Students need to complete two steps to use financial aid towards their bootcamp tuition:
Students interested in our bootcamps can reach out to our recruitment team to answer questions and to be guided through the application and financial aid process. A student can complete the FAFSA form at any time, but we recommend they speak with someone at Westcliff to answer any questions.
Is there an ideal applicant for Westcliff University Bootcamp’s financial aid?
The general eligibility requirements include having a financial need, being a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, and that they are enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program at Westcliff University. There is no limit on how many bootcamp students are eligible for Financial Aid.
What are the other financing or payment options available at Westcliff University Bootcamp?
There are many financing and payment options available, including a variety of Westcliff University scholarships. We encourage students to also research external scholarships and private loans through financial institutions. Students can ask our recruitment and admissions team about payment plans and special or time-limited tuition discounts.
How does the financial aid at Westcliff compare to other funding options like a traditional loan or an ISA?
Federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans do not require payments while a student attends the bootcamp at least part-time.
What kinds of career support do Westcliff University Bootcamp students get throughout the course?
Bootcamp graduates receive the full complement of career services throughout the program: resume revision, mock interviews, personal branding, employer partner connections, and more.
In addition to the above, there is dedicated teacher assistance for each class. The success of each student is a priority for Westcliff and the professors. The TA’s and professors ensure that each student graduates with a professional-grade portfolio that showcases the projects they have created to support employment opportunities.
What kinds of tech jobs do Westcliff University Bootcamp students land?
Our bootcamp graduates have landed jobs in full stack coding and web development, cybersecurity, project management, and design. Some grads have gone on to be technical help desk specialists.
