Read MoreI've been in the program for 6 months, and I can say for sure that Techtonic's apprenticeship is the best thing out there for people looking to get into software development, QA and product management. It starts with an intensive 3-month classroom portion, followed by 3-5 months working on professional client projects, and pays a decent hourly wage for the whole duration, with no fees whatsoever. The teaching staff is great, and the culture of the company itself is fantastic, from the CEO down to the devs.
Before starting the program, I was in an entirely different career, with very little coding experience. But now, I can stand up and architect a React or Django app, architect a NoSQL database, and set up and manage Google Analytics. I'd never written a line of CSS, but now I can write modular SCSS and set up SASS middleware. But the most rewarding thing has been the respect and mentorship apprentices get when they come to the floor, and the wealth of opportunities we're given. As Techtonic grows in reputation and continues to attract bigger clients, there are myriad chances to get your foot in the door with companies who'd never even glance at the resumé of a bootcamp grad.
If you're thinking about applying, you definitely should. The application process is rigorous, and the acceptance rate is around 10%, but if you have the drive and smarts, you'll be on your way to a rewarding career in software.
