When I signed up I was afraid this was going to be another certificate site where you just watch videos but not actually learn anything. The content is actually well paced and the weekly sessions with an actual instructor who is in the industry are very well done and eye opening. They really bridge the gap from tutorial hell. Another thing worth mentioning is that the time investment is truly at least 5-10 hours a week. Some projects actually take at least 8 hours in addition to the tests. I went into this course uncertain whether I'd be able to truly grasp the material, because I had only the most basic knowledge of probability and statistics. Through Great Learning, MIT provided an education that met me exactly where I was, and brought me all the way through to complete all learning objectives, in a way I could confidently apply in my personal and professional life. This course has exceeded my expectations for an intensive data science and machine learning course in depth and breadth. It comprises 7 modules exploring Python and statistics, unstructured data and clustering, regression and prediction, classification and hypothesis testing, deep learning, recommendation and networking and graphical models. Each module is complemented with two-to-three-hour lecture videos from MIT professors, two-hour mentored learning sessions taught by experienced industry practitioners, multiple case studies with full-code Jupyter notebooks provided and lecture notes. I was assessed with test questions about the concepts in each module. In addition, I had to complete three projects that required me to combine the skills I learned and my business knowledge to provide commercial solutions in fictional case studies. The teaching methods, course materials and assessments are crucial to my understanding and applications of the course content. Also, the Great Learning team provided me with a lot of support during the course period, which facilitated the course delivery and aimed at producing great learning outcomes for every student. When I applied to this program, I had zero experience and knowledge in both Python and Data Science. I was skeptical if I could do this, but I really-really wanted to get familiar with this area. Starting from scratch, I am thrilled to share that just three months later, I have gained the ability to proficiently handle all the technical aspects within the notebook, do all the analysis, write reports, and present the results with all the recommendations.  I started with the pre-work materials one month before the program started. It was so thoughtful of the program team to let us get familiar with the subject before the course started. It was very helpful for me, as I did not have any experience in programming. The amount and quality of provided studying materials was well balanced and sufficient (video lectures, recordings, articles, summaries of the lectures, practical examples etc). To get comfortable with new knowledge, I had to review some of the materials repeatedly. I was consistently captivated by the lectures delivered by MIT professors; they were truly awe-inspiring. Missing even a single lecture felt out of the question. Amazing support from mentors to see how all the theory is applied into practice and it was absolute magic for me.  A lot of practical examples. It's a realm where one can truly grasp the inner workings of the world—an immensely inspiring experience. I should also mention the program manager support in all the organizational issues, all the questions, all the support during the course, check-in calls on how I was doing. That made me feel so connected like during offline study.  In summary, this journey has been nothing short of amazing—a personal milestone that I hold dear. Throughout this experience, I was consistently struck by the sheer awesomeness of it all. The incredible people, the fascinating subject matter, the sheer coolness—it all resonated deeply with me. I found myself yearning not just to be part of this world, but to contribute meaningfully to its richness and innovation.

My domain is Operational Technology for Critical Infrastructure focusing on Digital Transformation & Cybersecurity. I was a bit skeptical when I signed up for a Data Analytics Program with coding. However, Great Learning & MIT proved me wrong. The entire 12 weeks was a beautiful learning experience with excellent content and perfect delivery. The program surprised me with ample opportunities to interact, network, and be tested. The pace at which the entire course was orchestrated was the highlight, especially for a senior consultant like me. The best part was the handholding we received throughout the program and specifically during the capstone project. The final presentation was the icing on the cake, really enjoyed it.

I had a truly wonderful experience with this course by MIT delivered through Great Learning. I feel that I was able to upskill very effectively thanks to the extremely well-balanced curriculum, and the course had us deliver several fully-formed projects, combining this way theoretical and practical learning modalities.

By well-balanced I mean: starting from Python, statistics, probability and the fundamentals of applied data science, we studied our way through a large set of machine learning algorithms and their theoretical underpinnings, up to and including building some neural networks - and beyond. We weren't pressed or quizzed on our mathematical prowess, but for the curious, all the mathematical underpinnings of these systems were also explained. Additionally, practical case studies were given that covered a number of areas of the industry, including genomics, marketing, greentech, finance, sales, and even the medical applications of things like neural networks.

There was concern among some students that the weekly live classes would not be sufficient by themselves, and I would tend to agree. Although we were treated to classes by industry specialists from companies like Amazon, Oracle or Verizon, there is so much that can be communicated within just a few hours. But all of the material of the live classes and more was covered during the preparatory video sessions and in the various handout documents we received, and each module had as much optional material (ungraded) as core content.

The delivery platform itself was good to great, with some room for improvement. 

Professional placement assistance was also fantastic, again with the possibility to get our resume and online presence reviewed by experienced leaders within the industry.

All in all, for the diligent student, there is a lot to be had and a lot to be learnt in a course like this, and I feel it can truly help to kickstart one's career as a data scientist. 

I can without any exaggeration recommend this course as one of the best upskilling experiences I have ever had. The MIT pedagogy and the sheer brilliance of the professors shine through, and the Great Learning staff really go out of their way to make the delivery easy. Read less

I was a bit apprehensive at first. Having learning disabilities makes education at this level difficult. But, the instructors were so engaging and took time to answer and work with everyone. Glory, our program manager, is awesome! Unlike university where I went decades ago, she worked with me and set me up for success. She genuinely wanted me to pass. 

I love it and STRONGLY suggest everyone try it. If you're wanting an MIT level education, this will get you there.


Pros:
The emotional support. Starting this class in the middle of chemo was hard enough. They made it possible.
The course work was not saturating. It was broken out into smaller chunks - eating the elephant 1 bite at a time. 
The videos and the corresponding skills tests were hard at times but being able to see where I went wrong on the skills test helped me understand the question better.
Learning Python... not my favorite language but they made it fun and now I have a little more respect for it.

Cons:
The only con I have is there was a slight language barrier due to different nationalities of the instructors but the ability to go back and watch the MLS again was very helpful.

I've recently completed the MIT-ADSP Course offered by Great Learning, and I must say it has been an enriching and valuable experience for me. The course curriculum is incredibly comprehensive, covering a wide range of topics in data science.

If you are new to this field, I would advise refreshing your basics and Python skills, as the course dives into the topics right from the beginning. The emphasis on pre-work offered before the start of the live lectures is not to be taken lightly.

It requires focused attention on the topics covered each week. However, the weekend Mentor sessions provided invaluable assistance in gaining a better understanding of the topics taught in the live lectures delivered by the esteemed MIT faculty. These sessions not only reinforced the concepts but also offered interactive discussions and doubt clarification, contributing to a deeper comprehension of the material. The inclusion of revision sessions further supplemented conceptual and coding skills.

The projects offered during the course were well-designed and allowed for practical application of the concepts learned. Additionally, the availability of additional resources and learning materials further enhanced my understanding of the subject matter.

I just completed the Applied Data Science course at MIT (by Great Learning) it was fantastic.
The course is very intense, so you should know that you need to dedicate time to make the best out of it. Between weekdays lectures with MIT professors (which was amazing to get a good intuition about each topic) then a weekend mentoring session with amazing instructors that iterate through the urgent topics and work with us through a case study to apply all what we learnt throughout the week.
That’s a lot to learn and practice and leaves you with an amazing foundation for Data Science and several machine learning techniques.
For sure the course doesn’t cover every single topic out there but once you have the good foundation, intuition and will the sky is the limit for new learnings with so much resources out there.
Thanks to everyone (MIT professors, great learning PM, instructors and mentors) for the great curriculum, support and the right tools to succeed. Read less
