General Assembly is a technical education provider that teaches students the skills, career advice and networking opportunities needed to make a career change into a tech role, in as little as three months. General Assembly offers part-time and full-time bootcamps and short courses in web and mobile development, product management, data science, and more. The bootcamp experience is led by instructors who are expert practitioners in their field. Students should expect to build a solid portfolio of real-life projects. Since 2011, General Assembly has graduated more than 40,000 students worldwide from the full time and part time bootcamp.
To enroll at General Assembly, applicants should submit an online application to connect with a GA Admissions team member who will work with them to decide if a tech bootcamps is the right fit. The GA Admissions staff are also prepared to speak with applicants about the best tech role for them, learning styles at GA, expected outcomes after the bootcamp, options to finance the bootcamp, career services offered by GA, and more.
To help students land their first job in a tech role, General Assembly students are supported by career coaches from day one. The program is enhanced by a career services team that is constantly in talks with employers about their tech hiring needs.

I attended this bootcamp in 2023 and was one of the blessed few to actually receive a job. Our `outcomes` teacher who is supposed to help you find a job was fired in the middle of one of our `outcomes` classes. Most of the students I went to school with have been unable to find work in the field. I hear that this bootcamp used to be a good one before the corporation that now owns it took over and decided to cut corners, restrict campus access, and generally not care about the success ...I attended this bootcamp in 2023 and was one of the blessed few to actually receive a job. Fun, Challenging, Rewarding
I graduated from the Software Engineering Immersive Bootcamp in Nov 2023. It was truly a rewarding experience for me as I managed to learn so much in such a short period of time. The instructional team were also very helpful and knowledgeable in the field and were always willing to answer any questions we had, at any time of day. Massive Bate and Switch Going on with Career Coaching-be ware!
I am in week 9 of 13 at General Assembly for Software Engineering and WAS having a very positive experience, particularly with the Career Coaching program. Weekly we had a 2 hour "Outcomes" class that focused on career readiness and then we were required to have at least two one ones with our Career Coach. Then all of a sudden in week 8, our amazing Career Coach is all of a sudden no longer at General Assembly and we get this email about "Enhanced Outcomes" that states the entirely Outco...I am in week 9 of 13 at General Assembly for Software Engineering and WAS having a very positive experience, particularly with the Career Coaching program. Weekly we had a 2 hour "Outcomes" class that focused on career readiness and then we were required to have at least two one ones with our Career Coach. Then all of a sudden in week 8, our amazing Career Coach is all of a sudden no longer at General Assembly and we get this email about "Enhanced Outcomes" that states the entirely Outcomes program is on pause for the next 2 weeks and then when it resumes we will now only have monthly classes. So that means at best, instead of the 13 classes we were promised and paid for we will now get 9. Worst is that this two week time frame is so critical for my cohort to be applying for jobs and building portfolios if we hope get a job soon after graduation. I have sent emails and Slack DMs on this and either do not get a response or the staff that replies lets me know they are working on this but do not have information at this time. Engaging, efficent, tailored
I had an excellent experience. The course was well laid out, the instructors were clear, and the structure of content and labs made it easy to become comfortable with new concepts quickly. Overall nice course, but be careful of the job placement promises
I attended General Assembly's bootcamp in UX design, and while my instructor was knowledgeable and supportive, I experienced disappointment with their job placement promises. Initially, I was led to believe that the duration of landing a job post-graduation would be as per advertised, which is 6 months. However, the reality was different. It took me 2 months to land an internship and another 7 months to land a full-time job and I would say I am already one of the luckier ones in this cas...I attended General Assembly's bootcamp in UX design, and while my instructor was knowledgeable and supportive, I experienced disappointment with their job placement promises. Initially, I was led to believe that the duration of landing a job post-graduation would be as per advertised, which is 6 months. However, the reality was different. It took me 2 months to land an internship and another 7 months to land a full-time job and I would say I am already one of the luckier ones in this case, looking at the job market in tech sector right now.
The disparity between their assurances and the actual job placement process left me feeling misled and dissatisfied with the overall experience in terms of job searching. Gave me confidence in lifelong learning

A big help in transitioning careers
I had already been taking some self guided studies in the software engineering domain for a few months prior to applying for GA but decided paying to do their program would be the quickest pathway to obtaining my first job in the field. Given the knowledge I had already obtained prior to the bootcamp commencing, I was initially a little frustrated with the basic content in the first two weeks but when I flagged this with my instructor he was more than happy to give me additional reading ...I had already been taking some self guided studies in the software engineering domain for a few months prior to applying for GA but decided paying to do their program would be the quickest pathway to obtaining my first job in the field. Given the knowledge I had already obtained prior to the bootcamp commencing, I was initially a little frustrated with the basic content in the first two weeks but when I flagged this with my instructor he was more than happy to give me additional reading and content to study while the class covered the first unit. It was all up hill from here though and the next 10 weeks I found myself allocating easily 60 hours a week to study (including class time/homework and my own additional exploration). Some days I felt dizzy from the amount of info I was trying to retain but building the project at the end of each unit was very fun and rewarding. My teacher (dt) was incredible and excelled at helping students get the most out of such a short term program. The careers team were also very helpful in providing a framework and support to help you get that first job. It took me a further 3 months of hustling every day and nearly 180 job applications to land my first job but here I am writing this 12 months from starting the course, in a permanent job as a fully remote software developer and I couldn't be happier.

AVOID. Instructors and TAs knew nothing, terrible support.
Started the Software Engineering Full Time Bootcamp. Encountered some issues in week 1 getting my necessary packages installed. Wasted several hours with the instructor and TAs who couldn't solve the issues. Eventually I was able to fix them but at this point was so far behind in the class work and had zero confidence in the quality of instruction. The instructor was not helpful, and the TAs were former students of the same program who finished within the last year and I assume couldn't ...Started the Software Engineering Full Time Bootcamp. Encountered some issues in week 1 getting my necessary packages installed. Wasted several hours with the instructor and TAs who couldn't solve the issues. Eventually I was able to fix them but at this point was so far behind in the class work and had zero confidence in the quality of instruction. The instructor was not helpful, and the TAs were former students of the same program who finished within the last year and I assume couldn't get better jobs. In week 2 I contacted "Student Success" about dropping out. They informed me I could drop out and would owe them a prorated amount of the tuition, and my loan from Stride Funding would be canceled. I agreed. It has now been 5 months and I am getting bills from Stride because GA has still not canceled my loan from them. It's impossible to reach anyone about any issues, they do not answer the phone or emails unless you are a prospective student contacting their sales agents (in which case they won't leave you alone). I'm sure at some point it was a good school, but they seem to put all their $ and effort into sales and little to none into the quality of their courses or experience of students.
The employment %s of graduates that they publish on their website and that their sales agents use to rope you in are from several years ago, once you are in the program they will tell you how these employment rates have dropped SIGNIFICANTLY since 2021.
I am currently getting a 1.5-year Associates degree from my local community college. Hollistic data science crash course
The bootcamp is everything you need to get yourself up to speed in terms of data science competency.
Being a bootcamp, there are some assumptions that you need to know upfront:- It will be FAST paced! It is a bootcamp after all. It will feel like cramming a few uni semesters into one.
- You need to have some competency in Python and A level/uni maths.
- Commit the ENTIRE 3 months to this course. Pretty much doesn’t leave much time for anything else.
The bootcamp is everything you need to get yourself up to speed in terms of data science competency.
Being a bootcamp, there are some assumptions that you need to know upfront:- It will be FAST paced! It is a bootcamp after all. It will feel like cramming a few uni semesters into one.
- You need to have some competency in Python and A level/uni maths.
- Commit the ENTIRE 3 months to this course. Pretty much doesn’t leave much time for anything else.
Having said that, the course materials are very comprehensive and instructors very supportive.
Career coach is also very helpful, though of course only as helpful as the effort that you put in yourself.
There’s just a few areas that the course is lacking, which is understandable due to its short duration:- More comprehensive SQL. The bootcamp only touhes it superficially, though the industry seems to emphasise on this.
- Data visualisation softwares. Qlik/Tableau/Power BI is not covered at all, but will be a huge bonus if you have some competency.
