    Overall pretty good experience

I enjoyed having the option to come in to class in person and having teachers who were accessible. The demos and structured lessons were very helpful when they happened. I would have liked to have those more frequently. The constant support from career services was helpful. And I am glad that support continues post graduation

Outdated and Minimal Effort by Most Staff

Minimal effort by the online instructor (in-person instructor in Portland was awesome), the Portland campus looks nothing as advertised, the material is very very out of date, and there is no structure.

Often times it would take over 3 weeks for weekly projects to be graded by the online instructor (it took over a month for our capstones to be graded). Though the in-person instructor would have assignments graded with 1-2 days.

If you are expecting instructor led courses, t...

I’m sorry the program wasn't what you were hoping for. I want to clarify a couple of the concerns you raised:
For individual code reviews, students are informed whether they passed by the end of the week after they submit them. If a student has not passed a code review within 17 days of the initial submission date, they can't continue attending the program. In cases that delay grading, such as holidays, the deadline to pass the assignment is moved accordingly.
Our teaching model is non-traditional, using a "flipped classroom" and students working in teams most of the time. Our “What to Expect” page describes this teaching model as well as the role teachers play in students’ day to day experience.
There is always a teacher available to assist students any time class is in session. Students can notify a teacher they need help by putting in a "help ticket". The ticket system used to be handled by a bot but several months ago we switched to a more informal approach in our online chat platform. Teachers take turns answering questions, regardless of which teacher is facilitating the class. In our handbook and during orientation we review how students interact with teachers and get support when they need it, and provide a contact students can reach out to if they feel that is not happening.
Regarding our curriculum, we do not usually teach the most recent version of any particular tool, as most companies stay several versions behind the latest releases to prioritize stability and releasing features. We meet with a curriculum advisory board of industry professionals on a regular basis to ensure that the subject matter we’re teaching is in line with what our graduates need to be successful, and our career services team regularly solicits feedback from the companies interviewing and hiring our students to identify exactly what we need to be teaching to make our students as hire-able as possible.
I am always happy to chat with students or graduates individually to help resolve concerns. If there is information I’m missing, or if there is something else I can do to be a support, please feel free to reach out to me at rachel@epicodus.com

    Best for true learners

I applied for Full Stack Developer bootcamp in Epicodus with lots of hesitation. But staffs and mentors made my journey awesome for me and my hesitation blown away. Best thing is that I got job just after completing my bootcamp. Recommended!

    Amazing, Agile Developmet, Instructive

I feel my career as a Full-Stack developer started when I enrolled in Epicodus. In the last 33 weeks (including the internship component after 27 weeks of the regular curriculum) I have grown exponentially, and I can say now I am ready to join a developer team as a professional developer. Great job, Epicodus!

    A challenging and rewarding experience

I started at Epicodus in Jan of 2022 but really struggled with the concepts being taught, I fell behind with assignments and ended deciding to drop down to the part time cohort and then deciding it wasn't the kind of environment I wanted, I switched to the next full time cohort in march. Going through the Javascript portion of the program twice was necessary for me but I regret not learning more before entering the program because that meant another 3 months I didn't have income. The who...

Fun, interactive, challenging, but learned a lot.

Pair programming and building a network in the tech community was extremely helpful. Our cohort will have lasting and supportive connections together. The curriculum at Epicodus was thorough and put me in a solid position to look for work in tech. I’m very grateful for the experience.

    Mostly fine

This bootcamp was, at least in the beginning, perfectly fine! We were learning a decent amount and enjoying it. However, we'd all been told we'd be set up with an internship at the end of the course and then were told that wouldn't be the case and never was. Concerns were met with gaslighting in which we were told that WE (the entire class and a few beneath us as well) were in the wrong, even though we all remembered being told the same thing. The last section was also not at all updated...

It was cheap, fun, and I got a job

TL;DR: It was cheap, I had a lot of fun, learned a ton, made friends, am now making more money than I ever have, and my career prospects are good. But I'm still salty about some stuff!

    The best parts:

In comparison to most of the bootcamps, Epicodus is dead cheap. I paid ~$8000 for four months of full-time coursework, career support, and an internship.

Yes, the curriculum is available for free, and despite having instructors it is more or less self-directed, but the...

    Opening Doors

Overall, the program worked, and I'm happy with where I ended up. Along the way there were a few bumps. I loved getting to work with a wide variety of people, but at times it felt like groups were composed of people that were poorly suited to one another, when the gap in programming affinity was too wide. Despite any friction, this was an excellent use of 6 months, and if I had to relive this time, I'd still choose to spend it learning here.

    Javascript/React/C#

Epicodus gave me all the tools to become a successful programmer: how to walk through code, how to think and design with class constructors, components, and the MVC structure, how to pair program and talk about code with others, how to implement best practices and most importantly, how to use a growth mindset. If it wasn't for Epicodus, I wouldn't have a job in the field. My Javascript/React/C# class at Epicodus coincided with a college track where I was taking computer science and math....

Ruby on Rails - Web Development

    Positives:
    1) The flipped classroom style, and pair-programming aspect really worked well with my learning style. I was able to absorb the material at my own pace, and have the ability to implement what I learned with my partner. It's incredibly helpful and productive to have someone at your skill level learning alongside. However, it did not mean that the material came easy to me.
    2) The student advisors help keep you on track towards your end goal. Their mock in...

Only 1.4% of bootcampers have worked as developers in the past, but most career-changers have little if any client experience when they start looking for a developer job.
