    Lack of organization

I was working as a junior software developer when I decided to learn a new language and get some good training.  I was self-taught and needed some guidance, and Claim Academy seemed like a good choice.  I decided to moved from Florida to take the course in St. Louis.

This was a true mixed bag.  While many of the things we learned are directly applicable to my current job, it was in spite of Claim Academy and not because of them that I succeeded and learned.

    Amazing learning experience

I had an academic background however lacked the exposure to industrial practices and challenges. I was introduced to the latest technology stack and after the program was placed with an excellent opportunity! Life changing experience. Would highly recommend it!

    Java Cohort - November 2016

I was a student in the Java Cohort that completed in November 2016.

Before I get into the details of the program, I would like to say that I received a job offer about a month after graduating. I think it's safe to say that it would have taken me longer to get my first job in the field if I had continued to just learn on my own rather than enrolling at Claim.

    Strengths:

For me the strongest part of the program were the get-a-job aspects. I completely overhaule...

I want to personally and sincerely apologize that your experience at Claim Academy didn’t meet your full expectations. However, I also realize an apology alone doesn’t get you the concerns you have.  At Claim Academy we have several instructors who based on several years of experience, and strengths teach certain area of our employer based curriculum and also co-teach.
We do understand that one of the instructors was not very organized as you would like him to be. We will certainly address that very much and thank you for the feedback
About you job offer, we are happy that we were able to lead you to one of our employer network ( who has hired 5 people at the time of this writing out of our program ) and hired you. We have over 95% placement rate and we are really proud of this achievement.
I would also like to offer you the ability to retake any portions of the program at no charge, that you think you may be some more support and mentorship.

Please reach out to us and we will be happy to help you with additional resources and/or to re-take any parts of the bootcamp so that you can experience these improvements for yourself.

Learned JAVA and some React.  I had previously attended Digitalcrafts ATL, and it is hard not to compare.  Unfortunately Claim doesn't come close to Digitalcrafts in terms of quality.  Our instructors(we went through 3) at Claim seemed to be part time while at Digitalcrafts they were full time.  We spent about 3 hours a day actually with the professor in a zoom call, any other communication was on Basecamp (and it was horrible).  As students we made our own zoom calls with each other to ...

    There were... problems

During my time at Claim Academy, quite a few things went wrong.  At first I blamed the pandemic, but by graduation it was clear that the school was also at fault due to poor management.  Here are some things I encountered:

     1. This was supposed to be an in-person course.  I specifically chose it for this reason because I learn better in person. Due to events below, it was only in-person for the first 3.5 weeks. The remainder of instruction was nothing but zoom meetings.  This ...

    An Honest Review

    INSTRUCTORS:
The instructors are competent and helpful when they are available.
During the day, from 12-6, the class had access to one java instructor, one .Net instructor, and zero Angular/React instructors.
During the evening from 6-9, the class had access to one Java/Angular/React instructor, but not for the full duration of the program(except by e-mail).
    CURRICULUM:

    Good experience, still needs work.

I was a member of the first .NET cohort, so it's possible things are different now than they were when I was there. Overall, this was a good experience for me. I was not happy with my current job and really wanted a change, and this opportunity came up, so I went for it, since software development was something I'd always been interested in.

We had three teachers that were excellent and one who just wasn't particularly well-suited to teaching, but he ended up parting ways after n...

Overpriced, Poor Quality Training and Dubious

    BEWARE!!!

    1. This is not a Fullstack Java bootcamp and definitely overpriced at $12,500 as the depth of coverage in subjects as HTML, CSS and Javascript is very shallow. The emphasis is solely on Java and which in my opinion is poorly taught. Furthermore, you will receive one (1) evening lecture on HTML and thereafter get web links to study about CSS and Javascript on your own.

    2. It is not for beginners as they claim and you should be prepared to do up to 80% of the academ...
